Best Western Sunnyside Inn Review

You can smell the garbage on the way to the room.

Room smelled like cleaning supplies so strong it hurt my eyes before you get to the room, strangely enough a quick wipe with a white towel on the floor reveals that the place is not clean.

This place is a dive.

They were kind enough to refund us.

It brings me back bad memories and knowing my my ex-girlfriend used to go there? Now what was she doing at a motel that makes me wonder didn't make you to wonder that's what you call the X. No it's clean clean Motel prices are high on the weekends and cheap on weekdays

Located in a safe area near Portland. Quiet at night and I noticed that there were several families staying at this hotel as well. Breakfast in the morning is nice as it is complimentary, but it is nothing special. Located next to a German themed restaurant/bar that had some great food and drink!

This place I weird to say the least. I got a ADA room....on the 3rd floor with no elevator. There were scratches on all the doors like animals were locked in the room. No screen on the slider(not okay when you have 2 small kids) also fridge was not clean.

The only reason I'm giving this place as many stars as I did is because every employee I've came across has been amazingly nice. The hotel sucks, but the service is good.

Old outdated. Had a jacuzzi room and this room was so damp and stuffy. Nothing worked . Lumpy bed . I could not breathe never stay there again. Staff was nice though

Was a nice room. Only problem is I never got my deposit back. Sunnyside Inn told me it was refunded. I check with bank no refund. I stayed one night 8/07/10. Check 8/8/19.
Now it's August 25 2019 no refund on my deposit. Not happy.

Did not like the room was very disappointed and the condition of the room not a place I would visit again as well as unexpected $75 deposit that took two to three days 2 be put back in my account would have been better off sleeping in my car then sleeping in a slump

Well they say breakfast included but no breakfast was served cause of the covid..bs..beds too noisy I could feel the spring s...lol.... but thank you for the service and being there. I hope I'll have a better experience

I stay here every time I come to Portland. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Especially the housekeeping staff. I often need a late check out, and they always come through. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Parking and Wi-Fi is free. And the location is in a nice area of Portland. Always a pleasure.

Super frustrating that I have to have a credit card to stay here

I love this place and so does my daughter! The front desk is so kind and helpful when booking me another night since we didn't want to leave! The room is clean, The sheets and towels are fresh, the bed and pillow are comfy. The rooms come with a fridge, coffee maker and coffee supplies but with free breakfast and coffee from 6am-10am you don't really need it! The location is perfectly far and close enough from Portland. We love having the mall and so many food options near by. If the road outside is too loud shut the window and turn on a/c fan to drown it out. We would definitely stay here again! And the price was so affordable!

Bathroom was grungy. Dirt caked in Corners we're mopping hadn't been done thoroughly.

Worst hotel experience of my life. I travel across the US for work. I found this place online and decoded to check it out. I stayed for 4 months. My stay started off fine until i found bugs in my room. I went to see the front desk and they said they would spray the room with a oderless spray. I had to wait in my car for 4 hours before the smell went away. Then i rebooked online through expedia with a 6 day night stay. On day 3 i went to my room and all of my belongings were gone. I was staying in a ada room as i am legally blind. I went to the front desk and they told me they dont know what happened to my stuff. They said i only had 3 nights paid for. I tried to show them my expedia confirmation with the confirmation of 6 nights. The G.M. i say G.M. very loosely. More of a trailer trash drug addict told me she didnt care that i paid over $400 for my stay and i could go somewhere else since i got upset that they took my belongings from my room. My belongings contained my medical items for my eyes. Then the G.M. 86'd me from the building. And didnt want to hear about my expedia invoice. I will be cokntacting the better business bureau. I dont reccomend this hotel to anyone not even the inmates on death row. Stay away from this dump and dont try to get any customer service from Crystal there so called G.M.

Filthy rooms with bed bugs. Staff are rude. they require a $75 deposit that they don't reimburse to you for 10+ days

I recently was traveling through Portland and needed a place that was priced well and clean and I found them. The staff was really helpful even offered to help carry some of my stuff who is quiet clean I'll definitely stay there again.

We needed to be closer to the hospital Cardiology ICU. After being there alright..We decided to rent a room at Sunnyside Inn Clakamus. ..they were extremely compassionate and made our experience easy ...They even went the extra mile with the complementary breakfast and giving us a little more time for check out.. ..their compassion and empathy was greatly appreciated and won t be forgotten thanks Sarah and all the staff at Sunnyside Inn

Had noisy up neighbor had to call office 3 times. The bed was old and broke down. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, But will not stay there again.

The location is very interesting. Right next to the the freeway so there is a bit of noise. But it's in the optimal location if you want to go out to eat. The rooms are neat, however the safes are unavailable. Breakfast is provided and is decent.

Staff is slow as a slug and has bad energy. Did not feel comfortable and relaxed at the sunnyside inn amd suites. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM. WASTE OF $$$!

Nice place.......will stay here again...... but one major downfall is its right next to the freeway so you got to have your fan on consoling to drowned out but at night it's quiet

Pillow has black spots on it, they are throwing out mattresses with black spots on it, claim is that they have no bed bugs. They lost my reservation for several hours, claimed that my company didn't have any reservations, even though fellow employees already had rooms there going back several days. Deadbolt works, there is no door chain. There are 2 peepholes, 1 high and 1 low. There was a pubic hair in the shower upon arrival. All of the furnishings are outdated. The only saving grace is that the mattresses are covered, but they are also old. There are flights of stairs and no elevators for the fact that all buildings are multiple levels; 50lb suitcase. You don't need a gym here, their architecture has provided a workout for you. Water pressure, water heater, a.c. work fine; didn't try the heater. Have yet to locate the do not disturb sign. Constantly feel itchy in this room.

Stole money out of my account without my pin or authorization. People of color watch out for this.

New owners, remodeling my favorite place to stay in Clackamas. It was a pleasant surprise! I have stayed here for business foe the last 15 years. Easy access to PDX and surrounding areas.

I'm going to give the manager time to make it right before my review. After next week, I will post my review and results from previous stay. The staff is friendly and the location is perfect. As the freeway and Clackamas Town Center are very close proximity....
My update on the Sunnyside Inn for my stay is ok. The manager Crystal is AWESOME! My room had issues with the door key card. My last few nights. Crystal did compensate for my room for the 2 of 3 nights i returned from my travel. Nice staff and I love the breakfast menu. Nice work! They're up a star in my review.

Tried to get room and was unable to make it after being stranded ..attempted to call the booking company as well as 800 number and no one could be reached ..after I returned to cell service/battery charger i tried to call and see if they would let me exchange the day of the room to the very next day . I even tried chatting with the booking company and was told they cant help, only hotel can modify the booking ." Sarah " said they couldnt help and the manager there also said they wouldn't do anything . being in customer service I know theres ALWAYS SOMETHING that can be done, they just chose not to. As simple as " refunding " or applying a credit for the night I needed .
They simply dont care since they got paid for doing and providing nothing , even though I did try to fix.

Makes it clear that there are things other than a clean room to look for and I know now who never to choose when in the area. Very disappointed

Although the stay was nice when I booked here over a year ago I wanted to rebook and this time around I have 2cats with me and their website says they are pet friendly but they should be more specific because they only accept dogs not cats or any other type of animal also they charge a refundable fee of 150$ if no damages which is a little high comparing to other hotels, beside that issue it s a decent place to stay in nice and clean very spacious and they have free WiFi and breakfast which is a plus!

Super ghetto. You will notice it in the paint, the equipment, the staff, the people around you, but for around 60 bucks it is a place to sleep if everything else is full.

Solid stay. Great price. $68 for me, my wife and three kids.

Noisy. This drunk girl had a melt down in the parking lot. I had to put her in my room until she calmed down.

Going to be here for 11 nights, first night was fine.. room was clean when we arrived. But the next day when we came back at night maid service didn't change bedding, they didnt stock toilet paper, they only have one trash can in the WHOLE room.. towels didnt get stocked.. like wheres everything at..

Everything was about as expected for the price: enjoyable stay.

This place has very bad service the staff is very rude and they lied to you about the deposit and the rent and things like that and overcharge you

The tv was stuck on one channel; the remote controled only mute and volume. Only 1 blanket per bed with none shelved in case needed ----- they were needed the to the windy draft coming through the unsealed gap at the a.c. unit. The continental breakfast in the morning left a lot to be desired with a sour cup of coffee and a half frozen bagel. Lastly, the $53.00 + tax quote for 2 adults and 1 child became $58.00 + tax within the 10 minutes between reading the site and arrival.
The desk clerk was welcoming and friendly, but that was really the extent of any positive experience.

Thank you sunnyside inn making our little vacation possible! The price was the best I have ever had for the 4 days we spent and allowed pets.room was very clean,loved the bathtub and how long the water stayed hot for.and the air conditioner saved our life! every guest that we encountered was so nice and it was so quiet the whole time! and lastly thank you to the lady that checked us in you saved us so much money and you were so polite thank you so much! When coming back to that area we will say again.

A fine, clean, quiet, convenient place. Nothing stellar, nothing awful.

The room I was given was fairly large. It included two queen sized beds, a large bathroom, shower, a toilet, a coffee pot (coffee included), and cable TV on a 42(?) Inch TV. The room also had a huge AC unit which kept the room very cool. The mattresses we're a little firm, but not too bad. The pillows are extremely comfortable. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay.

The absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Filthy, noisy and full of sports teams. So not ever coming back

We rented a room for a homeless young lady, the room was only $75 and when I got my credit card statement they charged me $250 plus $75.46 because they claimed that the girl smoked in the room and created smoke damage! I was not aware of this charge until I got my bank statement. BEWARE OF HIDDEN CHARGES WITH THESE PEOPLE! You do a good deed and put someone up in a room and you get screwed by the Motel! Lovely! They refused to refund me as well because they have signs posted, but I didn't see one sign anywhere!

Nice place, clean room and facilities. No carpets, yippee. Slept really well comfy bed.

Room was good, the bed did move so any use of the headboard was impossible. Other than that it was great.

Eh. If you want a cheap place to stay this is it. The rooms smelt funny like old buildings. In bad need of renovations, shower floor is uneven Staff was nice if a bit shady.

Rooms smelled like cigarettes, Bathrooms are very dirty. staff is very nice but we found many spiders and bugs in the room. The AC was very loud and sounded louder than a tractor. So was the bathroom fan, it sounded like a John Deere engine running. Parking made me worry, it was very dark and unsafe. The breakfast was good. As soon as we opened the window it smelled like weed. The windows are very unsafe to open, especially for little children. We heard drunks arguing outside of our room. Wouldn t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dirty, unresponsive and very neglectful. The first of 3 rooms they put me in with in a half hour was being worked on, like shelves on counters toilet torn apart. The 2nd room had the trip around the door falling off, the door locks were busted and the floors were still soaked. The third room had hair in the shower, chips out of the walls, ants and dirty finger prints on the hairdryer.

Just ok , they did some cheap updating but you can tell it's very low quality. Over charged and gave me the room that I did not pay for plus it was filthy, bugs and air conditioner didn t work, super dusty and moved to a basic room with a double bed when I paid for a king suite. I got a coupon for $20 off that is it after I waited an hour to get checked in because it was prepaid they couldn t find the reservation. Then gave me a queen suite when I paid for a king with jacuzzi then moved me to a standard old room with no money back. Disappointed

Great place for weekend travelers! Its about a 30 minute commute to downtown Portland, with many different food spots along the way. Very convenient and affordable, the staff was helpful and friendly! Or room was very clean below, and on top of the sheets! I recommend this hotel for traveling adults and families. 5 stars, 2 thumbs, and a tip-of-the-hat my dudes!

I ve stayed here before and usually they re pretty good. This thins I stayed I kept finding fleas on the beds and my children. I don t own animals nor am I around them, so I found that quite gross. Other than that one thing the hotel is usually pretty decent for a low quality.

The staff are courteous and helpful always eager to help you in any way they can to make your stay better :-) I definitely recommend Sunnyside Inn and Suites and we'll be back to stay again in the near future thank you:-)

ps they have plenty of parking!

Not the cleanest Hotel I have ever stayed in. But it was across from the Hospital my Darlings were in. And I needed to be close. Plus the Breakfast ends at 10 and most Hotels go to 11. Check Out here is 11. Too early for my liking!

If you think you may get a room that looks like the picture you will be sorely disappointed. Our room was small the bed was old the bathroom was dirty needed a deep cleaning. And watch out for the step up its a good 4 inches. I tripped and fell into the room badly bruising my knee my husband went to the office they didn't ask if I needed medical attention. She didn't seem to care. When I called in the morning to cancel the next night I asked if the night girl had said anything .surprise she had not. The morning girl had not much more concern. So when I looked at my bank they charged me for both nights. I would not have stayed the second night because the out side of my room there were people hanging out I didnot not feel safe. Maybe being next to the hospital a good thing you may need it if you stay there as I did.

Positives - staff pleasant and responsive to us and our needs. Limited in what they could do to help. Ran out of most of their fresh fruit over the weekend and had to wait until the owners arrived sometime Monday. Staff was very apologetic. This type of inventory control puts them in a poor position with customers when there is nothing they can do. Still out of bananas and oranges on Tuesday.

Negatives - Requested and reserved room based on disability needs. You will take a 1/2 flight to two 1/2 flights or an excessively long wheelchair ramp to these rooms and then our room was one from the end - further walking. No elevator, stairs to any level. Owners need to make these rooms more easily accessible and see that they come up to ADA standards for safety and accessibility which may not be possible due to the age of this facility. Could not use room they gave us and we're moved to a different more accessible room but it was not set up for disabled use.

No daily change and refreshment of towels, etc.

Breakfast consists of cold cereals, microwave oatmeal, limited fruit, juice, bagels/donuts/pastries, hot waffles you make yourself, coffee, tea, occasional yogurt. Mostly carbs with little or no protein.

Great staff even though they were placed in very difficult situations. Heard many complaints while in lobby or while eating "Breakfast."

This is a no frills motel regardless of what they advertise. Been there once, not again.

Place is okay. The hot tub room is pretty nice. Has a fire place and a big hot tub like 4 feet from the bed. Lol. And it doubles as a shower. Even has a curtain lol. There's a red light you can turn on. Too.. While you're in the bathroom or hot tub. Or just in the room. Mini fridge. Microwave. Flat screen TV King size bed. Pretty comfy. But the maids here are pretty intrusive. If it's AM & they knock and you're sleeping like most people, and take a min to wake up, get outta bed, get dressed and walk to the door, they've probably already used their key and unlocked AND opened your door. Hopefully you're not doing anything too embarrassing. Lol. Or In The middle of getting dressed. It's really annoying actually. In the AM they should have to give people at least 2-3 minutes before just walking into your room... Like we're PAYING to stay there. And paying for privacy. Not for some impatient maid to be rude and nosy and give 5 seconds (if that.) To respond at like 9am..

This place is cheap and it kindof shows. Just another low rung motel. The staff was friendly and the tv worked. But the shower didn't work. If you want a cheap motel, this one is great unless you want a shower in the morning!
