access is a little awkward with the long one way, but it's clean, comfortable, and quiet. good service
The front desk woman was amazing but when she had questions, it seemed like the staff was too busy to help. There were two people behind me to check in and I would have asked for assistance but she was great. She did her job to the best of her ability and kept a smile. Shame on the other staff for sitting on their butts in the back office talking GOSSIP (which was easily heard). Next time get off your butt and help.
The lady was very sweet and understanding and very helpful and its nice place to relax
200.00 deposit. On card so 300.00 total and to get back from bank only god knows when . Not convenient when traveling.
Best housekeepers and fantastic breakfast. The house keeping manager is a breath of fresh air, she always has a smile that makes you feel welcome. They also show compassion over monitary gains. That is rare and every business should strive to be like that..
The positives: The staff is great! The beds are really comfortable, as are the pillows. A plus is there's no bed bugs! I always check that at every hotel no matter how expensive or cheap it is. The free breakfast is good, fresh waffles, fruit, a variety of muffins and cereals, juices and coffee/tea/etc. The pool is a good size, not heated but it's outdoors so the sun will heat it enough during the summer. The negatives: the grounds are not kept up very well, the outside is dirty and it's in serious need of paint. All in all it's really not bad for the price. Considering there's nothing in town less than 3 times the amount here.
The Outlet in my room started smoking and making popping noises all night long was pretty scary contacted front office and they said they'd have someone come look in the morning never showed up
Poor management, and they don t even change the sheets sometimes. Some housekeepers there will just remake the bed if it looks clean with no stains. Definitely wouldn t recommend staying at this hotel. It is disgusting.
Let me check in a little before. It is clean and comfortable. Easy to enter the highway and is very close to the commercial center and many things.
The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff is super kind and helpful. They are also pet-friendly for an extra deposit. I highly recommend it for the price!
Awesome pool and great rates! Very friendly staff and the pool was clean and well kept!
My husband had the awful experience of having the front desk call the room phone at 2 am, he woke up to the ringing which stopped, then his cell rang and it was the front desk stating that someone reported a light on in his vehicle, when he went out there weren't any lights on. He was quite upset to be woken in the middle of the night and felt the front desk person should have confirmed it was actually his car before calling in the middle of the night. The price was reasonable but the sounds from the highway were not muffled in any way. If you need an inexpensive place with continental breakfast it'll do.
Great value for the price. Clean, simple furnishings, great location, close to the mall, restaurants and not too far from the airport! Friendly staff, plenty of free parking all make this a place to stay.
Due to covod-19, many services were not available, like room service cleaning on day two and complimentary breakfast was not available. We had only enough shampoo for one use, no cream rinse, one coffee for each of us, the tv wouldn't change channels, ice machine was broken. We did request more coffee and received it with extra cups. The staff was very friendly and the room clean, but the furniture is old, one night stand and one chair.
The cleanest I've stayed in out of other places, very friendly staff that go out there way to help, lots of selection on breakfast, we will definitely stay here again!
the staff here are incredibly nice and sincere with their words and actions build a tease it's nice and quiet at night with a dark underbelly which is nice because you need that kind of teas in life you know another guess that's a motel and they give you a wink and a smile but that's about it hey it's good enough for me is it good enough for you?
Understaffed but still pretty nice and the staff was nice
There employees went into my room while I out expiring the city following there recamendations on sites to see. And was robbed by there theifing staff.
Good place basic nothing fancy didn't really have much for a blanket
Cleanliness is not a room priority ie: bedding was stained tub dirty floors sticky. Price is lower then the rest for a reason. On the postive side, breakfast is there and day staff is friendly night shift not so much...
The rooms are comfortable and accommodating to couples, families, the price is the best in town. Its really amazing that the really seedy, low class motels, filled with pimps and drug addicts charge more per night the the rooms in those places are shabby and smell bad. This place is attractive, the beds are so comfy and clean, the bathrooms are huge and have full tubs and showers, the staff is so helpful. I will not stay any where else in the Portland area. And the breakfast is great, for the price this is a steal.
The staff are awful and incredibly rude. I'd give this place no star's if I could. Staying here was a headache from the start. They are rip offs and thieves.
Room was clean, bed comfortable, staff friendly, and price right.
I ve stayed at the Sunnyside Inn several times. This is not a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination. But then again, for the price you shouldn t expect luxury.
What you should expect is cleanliness, a safe secure feeling, a reasonable comfortable bed, and the basic amenities in regard to furnishings, entertainment, and bathroom facilities..
The Sunnyside Inn meets all of these basic expectations.Specifically, The rooms are fairly large by most hotel standards, the cleanliness has improved a lot since I first stayed there. However; there is still room for improvement, but they have come a long way and are continually improving in that area. Located in what I would consider a moderately safe area, the Sunnyside does have a couple of architectural design features that can cause a little fear while entering and exiting late at night. There are stairwells that have several hidden areas that can cause one to feel that a stranger could be lurking in the shadows, and while I have never experietany lurking villains, the feeling is there, every time I go in or out after dark.
All in all, I would say the Sunnyside provides an excellent value for the price.
Was fair for price. But room need a deep cleaning plus updated. Things like light plugs wall outlets need to be cleaned. Screws tightened up.
Very large room. Fairly quiet and decentspaces for parking lot
Rooms are nicely renovated. Sister said the bed was hard and the heater made funny noises. Over all not bad.
Threaten us with $250 fine (after checking in) if smoking on grounds.
The room was extremely difficult to sleep in being next to the highway, and the entire place is old. The TV also didn't work at all. The bathroom felt like a jail cell and didn't have any good lighting, and there was some kind of masking tape on the floor of the shower, as it had obvious damage. Things are also really rickety and the aesthetic is not comforting. The sheets on the bed are practically non-existant,(also itchy) forcing you to rely on the loud AC unit.
Staff was not friendly and disturbed us twice when we were sleeping to "remind us that checkout was at noon," which essentially is like saying "get out of here." Terrible expierience and the worst hotel stay I've ever had.
Its a nice place, me and my family are just grateful they had a room right now due to the fire we had no where to go
Clean, nice and affordable. Great for a one night stop over.
My wife and I stayed one night at Sunnyside Inn and Suites and we were both very pleased with the room. We found it to be clean and spacious with standard amenities, mini-fridge coffee maker, microwave & a hairdryer. The clerk at the front desk was freindly and very helpful.
I stay at this place quite often as Kaiser is,directly across the street. I am a retired law enforcement officer and understand how hard people have work to make a living. I have always had a great experience here, friendly front counter staff, comfortable room, decent breakfrast. HOWEVER, the night of April 12th I was put in a room with a bed with springs that spoke and growled at me with each move I made. Being a tolerant person I made the most of it. AGAIN WITH A HOWEVER, the next morning I went to shower
Before my doctor's appointment and discovered a filthy shower. Running late it was necessary for me to clean it myself. Fortunately I carry an over abundance of hand sanitizer which I put to use. Upon check out, I reported this to the front person named Clarita at the front counter about the shower, and advised her she could take a short walk to the room and observe the STILL filthy mirror which was cleaner than the shower had been. She was kind, documented my information in the computer, and advised me to have a good day. ???? I think if Sarah, who took my original reservation had been there, I may have gotten a different response. Perhaps, a small compensation, apology or something as this has been my go to place even though there are an abundance of hotel/motels within walking distance. Is it time to make a change?
Nice staff, clean rooms, no smoking policy on grounds. Could use an ice machine that works tho but other than that.
been staying about a week. i couldnt he happier. not once have we heard anyone through the walls great price friendly staff good breakfast so great
Nasty place. They require a credit card as if it were a high end hotel. That's a joke. Housekeepers look like street bombs and drug addicts. Never again.
We liked the location, but the room was older. Very loud and our window wouldn t open. We also were the window with the Sunnyside bright sign. Staff was very nice. Pool was very clean. Not sure if we would stay again.
Ghetto and rude and too top it off They didn t return my deposit and it s been like 3 weeks. I left my room clean !!
I wish I could give this not even a 1 star. TOTALLY GOT TRICKED NOT AT ALL LIKE THE PICTURES. There is horrible customer service our room was dirty and it had stains everywhere. The pool you could tell was not properly cleaned at all it stunk when we swam in it. Also the bed was very uncomfortable. The cleaning maid didn t clean the room when he came by he just asked if we needed anything and left and threw an attitude at us when we asked for clean sheets. DO NOT STAY HERE ! Also they push no smoking but most of the staff wasn t outside smoking cigarettes super unprofessional we will never come here again !
Clean and spacious rooms.. I have enjoyed being a guest at this property on multiple occasions and at times have had extended stayes at the Sunny Side Inn. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful! The rooms are clean, the beds and pillows are super comfortable and always at an affordable rate. Also, they offer a great breakfast. This property and its staff deserve
Let me just say as a former housekeeper. The place is crawling with so many bed bugs it really blew my mind that they were doing nothing about it
Our room was flooded when we went in it. They weren't going to put us in a new room. And when they did the new rooms bathroom light was out and the matenice guy came up and handed me the light bulb to change out! The tub was cracked and felt like you were going to fall threq the floor. We wont be staying there EVER again!
Stuff was friendly and eveything looks clean and nice.
They said I smoked in my room I didn't but nothing I said changed the charge.. the customer isn't always right. The room was very Clean and the breakfast selection was full. These 2 reasons are why I gave a 2 star
Rooms are over priced for what you get and they aren't all that clean
It's not the best rooms but very accommodating and great service! Makes up for alot! Thanks again
Bare bones would describe this place. Clean is the best I can do. Beds squeaked all night and not very comfortable. I had to go ask for coffee and cups for our second morning. You get what you pay for.
For the price, this hotel cannot be better. Granted, I have stayed in fancier hotels with more amenities but at 3 time's the price. The Sunnyside Inn and Suites is clean, comfortable, charming, respectable and, most important, affordable. Also close to Food, Shopping and Entertainment!
Decent room and good breakfast. Be prepared to provide an additional deposit
Horrible, bed still wrapped in plastic can't sleep cuz all the noise
Great hotel don't know why it's only 3 stars, but the milk is expensive. But the coffee is great
Woman with short hair at front desk was stern, unfriendly and acted as if we had bothered her. If you dont like working with customers and cant even fake it.. Then dont work in the HOSPITALITY Industry!
GOOD LORD!
I stayed here for roughly two months when I was on business. I have ZERO complaints.
They are trying to return the hotel to its original beauty but they still have more to do. Location is good and a nice sized parking lot they share with a good restaurant/bar. A little off the main drags but very God location for easy freeway access and lots of shopping/dining nearby. Quick drive to 82nd.
I dont even want to give them a star. Shotty place all the way around
Thw hotel was very nicely clean and well kept. The price was fair and its close to a lot of things, mall, stores ect..
For a budget hotel, this place is very near perfect. Quiet, clean, great staff, excellent WiFi, nice new TV with cable - and a hearty FREE breakfast! I will stay here again!@
Kind of smelly, it was ok but better bang for your buck elsewhere.
The room I had was really gross, I felt dirty just in it. I m not sure what rooms they took pictures of to advertise, but the one i got definitely wasn t one of them, we also had ants in our room. The only thing i can say good, was the people who worked there were really nice, oh and the pool was clean, but I would never ever come back to this place even if it was a free stay.
I think there is a crime novella waiting to be written about this place. It has definitely seen some stuff over the years. Quality is consistent with price. At least they don't jerk you around with non refundable reservations.
Pretty good for the best price anywhere I could find.
Terrible, if the bloody booger on the walls and the mold on the sealing wasnt enough. They make you walk to the street to smoke, and dont sanitize anything. Plus to add on the breakfast is never stocked, and the wifi is basically almost dial up. Dont go here choose any other of the 4 motels around. But dont go here! You wont be happy with this place. Ps dont drink out of the moldy coffee machines either.
Room was dirty and
smoked in and smelled of smoke, free breakfast had already ran out of milk and juice at nine o'clock and and at first was given a key to the room that was unmade up and dirty
Not impressed. Stayed in the jacuzzi room and it was sub par. The room was small and the jacuzzi tub was not in good shape. Also the room was supposed to be ready for check in at 3...we got there at 3:30 and we were waiting in the lobby until nearly 5 because apparently someone had smoked in the room and they needed to do something to remove the smell. Well whatever they did left a chemical, almost bleachy smell that gave me a migraine.
There were bugs,(rochies) I killed one and left totally disgusted
We are from the Olympia area and are planning on moving back in Oregon in July. We were looking at a house mid-week spontaneously and we needed a place to stay that was pet friendly, so I called the Sunnyside Inn in Clackamas, OR.
Upon checking in, the front desk clerk was not friendly and very short. However, I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep.
We found that our room was in the furthest building from the main lobby building which is where their few amenities were like ice and vending machines. Not only that, but it was the closest to I-205, a very loud highway.
To make matters worse, our rooms was on the third floor and there was no elevator. And it was at the end of the whole aisle of rooms. Not the biggest deal had I not been VISIBLY PREGNANT!
Walking into the room, there was no fridge (I appreciate ice cold drinks right when waking up and most hotels/motels offer them), and it was very small. But the most troublesome aspect was the noise from the highway. I thought the window was open, that was how loud it was.
But still, it was midnight, and I was tired. I was willing to live with all of this, but I had to work in the morning and I needed WIFI, which I was told over the phone before booking that they had.
After getting settled in, I figured I would log on and make sure my VPN worked. I was disappointed to find that their WIFI connection displayed an error each time I attempted to connect. And all I was given was a username and password and no other information like the SSID (name of the wireless device you select from your list of available networks). So we immediately called the front desk clerk. He offered to reset the internet modem (and instructed to restart my computer) and then he also mentioned that if that didn't work, we were free to check out.
I waited a few minutes and restarted my computer, all to no avail. We couldn't stay here if there was no WIFI and he did say that we could check out, so we packed up everything in our car and went to check out.
Imagine my shock when THEY STILL CHARGED US 50% OF MY BILL FOR 20 MINUTES!! We paid $55.48 for 20 minutes of WIFI troubleshooting. The kicker was that they charged us 50% of the room fee and the $10 pet fee on top of it. It doesn't matter if we left the dogs out in the car or not, they still charge the fee. How unfair is that?
I am so disgusted with the lack of service at the Sunnyside Inn. I hope you get your business in shape!
I would give this place a -50 stars if I could. Super dirty, walked across the floor in my socks and my socks turned black
Checked in, walked into a filthy room walked right back to the front desk and checked out! Nothing redeeming about this place from moment one!
It lived up to any expectation I have about hotel stays. Staff was friendly and helpful. One particular staff member was exceptional. I believe her name was Elizabeth. She went above and beyond to make sure that my stay was a good one.
