Visited the factory on a tour with my Girl Scout Reunion friends. It was amazing with wonderful Ice cream afterwards.
They tell lots of information and it has free samples.
Love this place! So fun, delicious, and appreciated the extra safety precautions during COVID-19!
was an awesome adventure. make sure to go on a weekday when ice cream production is going on
Brought my family and they enjoyed the tour.
Thank you Ben & Jerry. Awesome ice creams
Great tour for kids. I thought it was going to be more interesting and interactive.
Very cool spot to bring the kids. Awesome selection of ice cream and the sample portions on the tour are exceptional!
This is a fantastic place to take the whole family. The ice cream is delicious and the tour is a blast!
Had to stop and get my favorite flavor CherryGarcia. They had setup a nice and fast way to do social distancing.
Great service and organization to make your visit pleasant, tour guides are very courteous and funny, great place to understand the history and development of this world famous ice cream, also for understanding of the manufacturing process, parking lot available and for sure you will end your tour tasting a delicious ice cream!
Although I like Ben & Jerry's very much, a visit to the factory is only partially worthwhile. The tour is almost ridiculous because you can see nothing (7min video, 7min Blabla). Even the little pattern ice you get at the end is a joke. It was interesting to be here, but definitely not a highlight.
A must do in the area (don't forget Magic Hat Brewery 30 minutes away). The tour is $4 a person and they start about every 15 minutes. You MUST be there to buy tickets (you can buy them in advance in person). Cool insight into their story and a very clean environment WITH A PLAYGROUND and awesome "Flavor Graveyard." They have a shop and an outside station where you can buy ice cream (if you wish to wait, the lines usually long but worth it for the fun flavors!).
Overall-Go-Bring the family, Plan 90+ minutes and have fun!
Loved the tour of parts of the facility. The tour is 30 minutes. They do ask that you not take photos during certain parts. Out of respect to the philosophy, I choose not to take any photos myself. It is worth a visit and a visit to Vermont. There is a gift shop and a ice bar to purchase flavors. Really nice chill vibe. The place is packed with those who want to see the factory and the graveyard of deceased flavors. There is a great outdoor kids area for children to play in. Parking can be limited, but people are nice about it.
I had the mini Vermontster, you have 4 choice of ice cream, sides and 2 toppings, the portion i had was bigger than life, so delicious.
Kinda overrated tour. Still fun for a couple of hours. Need to tale the politics out of the ice cream
I've written 3 different letters to Ben & Jerry's suggesting the need for dairy free ice cream. It seemed that I had been ignored for the longest time that I finally gave up hope. Today, as I was walking through the grocery store, I found it. Chocolate fudge brownie, PB and cookies and Chunky Monkey. ...all with no dairy. I just wanted to say thank you for reading your mail. I'm so happy to be able to enjoy your ice cream again, and it's as good as I remember. Thanks again,
Short and informative tour with free ice cream sample. What is not to love?
I got to learn how to make ice cream but the line to get ice cream was to long so I couldn't get icecream
Wish they offered retired flavors here :( also if you dont like kids keep away the place is full of sugar high kids. Dosent bother me but some might be bothered
Visiting here is a must for all you ice cream lovers...Delicious
Fun tour and cheap. It's pretty short but you get to see ice cream being made and get a free sample after, which seems to be a tour only flavor. Gift shop is a bit pricey. The flavor graveyard is fun too - where all the retired flavors lay to rest.
It's Ben and Jerry's cmon what more needs to be said...a quick tour, free ice cream after tour, the Turkey Hill factory is a better overall experience but it's like triple the price Ben and Jerry's is a great place.
Fun place for families with kids! Tour was quick and informative. The graveyard for ice cream was cool! Would do it again with my entire family!
Loved it quite interesting learned some new facts real fun
What a great experience. Learned a lot about the way the ice cream is made. How they come up with the different flavors. And the sample is awesome.
Awful. Ben n Jerry's playing politics. Will never go again.
Fun place with great ice cream off the beaten path.
It would be wonderful if more companies had the same vision as Ben and Jerry's and King Arthur's Flour. The world would be a much better place!
Great ice cream factory tour destination for kids and adults alike.
The tour isn't very exciting, but it is inexpensive and something to do before eating ice cream. They show you a short film about the company. You get to see some of the retired flavors. You get to see the production floor from above. At the end, they let you sample a special flavor. They have a nice gift shop and an ice cream counter. The kids like the playground and a the graveyard for dead flavors.
Not as much fun as I was hoping. Very crowded. Because of how crowded it was, we didn't get to do the tour. The graveyard was interesting but not really worth the climb up the hill.
UPDATE: Business reached out to me and apologized. The Ben & Jerry rep did their best to resolve my issue. They also discussed the matter with the employee. I feel like my issue has been resolved.
ORIGINAL: Our family of four came 40 mins before closing. The line was very long, but the process seemed to be well organized. After staying in line for about 20-25 minutes, we ordered ice cream at window #5, gave our name and were told to wait away to be called at window #4. We saw 3 parties who were in line in front of us being called. We then saw about 9 parties who were after us being called. Finally, I came to window and asked if they have an order for Robert. I said we wanted for a really long time. The young gentleman with shot dark blond hair looked around and then walked to window #5. He then returned and said: I have your order now . There was no apology. I asked him what happened and why our order was so delayed. He got very irritated that I was dare fo ask that question. He responded: We are busy and your order got lose in the shuffle, but as I said before, it is being prepare now . We were the last people being serviced as everyone already got their ice cream. When we were at window #5 ordering, there were about a dozen parties behind us who already got serviced and left. I understand that things like these might happen even when the process seems so well organized. The issue is luck of proper customer service attitude. All the should have done is to be apologetic. Instead, he was annoyed, short, and unapologetic. Pretty upsetting after driving here and waiting almost 30 mins in line and then waiting another 25 mins because your order got lost.
It's not going to wow you... you watch a history movie, then see some of the plant through some windows... and a baby size sample of ice cream.
First time there and Awesome place to be. Even though I am lactose intolerant they were very accommodating to my needs.
Great little tour and ice cream. Lots of ice cream.
Love thr ice cream factory tour. It never gets old.
Great fun. Nice quick overview of their history. Glad it wasn't long and drawn out. I wanted to get to that ice cream line!
The original factory is small and interesting to see. I recommend the tour for the humor!
It was so cool seeing how they make it and learning the history behind Ben and Jerry's!! Plus it was the very first factory EVER!!
Amazing tour with a tasting at the end. You won't be disappointed you stopped here!
Beautiful experience ! The tour is great, you can see how they prepare their ice cream. And you can try a sample of an ice cream !
Don't go. NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. Could barely get my husband's wheelchair in their tiny elevator. And had to park on top of hill and almost got hit by cars trying to get wheelchair down hill. Totally disappointed thought Ben & Jerry's was better then that.
What's not to love?! A fun, cheap tour with ice cream at the end. If you don't love it you need to reevaluate your life.
Lines move pretty quickly, the tours are good and include a free sample of ice cream (beware April fools, scary prank flavors). The prices are sometimes high, but they have a great playground for kids
The tour was short but interesting. The promise of ice cream at the end was enough to keep our 3 year old well behaved. Definitely check out the flavor graveyard.
We went in around noon to purchase tickets for a tour later in the afternoon because we heard the wait times could get lengthy. That was a good decision, because we went back later for the tour and people were waiting 20-30 minutes to purchase tickets for a tour they'd have to wait another 90 minutes for. Good ice cream but overall, not worth the wait.
The best ice cream on the planet with the nicest people. Really an awesome place for people of all ages and places to come together and share their love for ice cream. This factory also offers tours where samples of ice cream are given out, sometimes flavors that haven't even been released. Overall an amazing experience and worth the drive. Would recommend to anyone passing by that's an ice cream lover.
Great place to stop. The ice cream is amazing, of course. The grounds are beautiful. Clean and colorful. And the employees are incredibly welcoming and professional.
Great short tour with sample at the end. Tours require a ticket so show up early to get a good time.
This is a must-do activity and a true ice cream lovers dream. My family and I had a great time.
As always a trip to Ben and Jerry's is amazing. Not only is their ice cream delicious but they are a company that goes above and beyond with empowerment, service and commitment to their community.
Everyone was very friendly. Affordable activity as well as yummy.
Fun tour, and the free sample at the end was delicious! Went with Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream after the tour, and he didn't steer me wrong!
The tour is always a blast...and the ice cream is amazing as always
Before buying a ticket, please read reviews and decide if this tour is really for you. On the tour, you will experience:
(1) A 7-minute film The first half of the film details the history of Ben & Jerry s, including the early friendship between the two men behind the brand; their foray into the ice cream business; their early experiences selling ice cream in Vermont; and the expansion of that business from a nascent into a thriving local business. The second half concerns the men s/company s engagement of the public in certain social campaigns through events and messaging.
(2) Brief tour you will stand in a corridor, flanked by panels of glass that enable you to observe certain ice cream making equipment one floor below (though partially concealed by the walkway upon which you are standing). To better display the machines and process perhaps more interesting than staring at stationary equipment, if there s no ice cream being made at the time of your arrival there are large screens in the corridor showing the equipment and processes as the guide describes them. That s it. One room. This tour lasts approx 10 minutes.
(3) Sampling ice cream in another room, which looks vaguely like a sweet shop, the tour guide will pull from a freezer and serve pre-scooped balls of ice cream. Contrary to other reviewers, we found the scoops to be fairly large.
This is the first opportunity for questions and the tour will leave you with SO many questions about basic things that really should be part of the introduction/overview. Like, anything about TODAY s operation (beyond the pieces of equipment displayed during the brief presentation). Globally, or even nationally - what is being made where? How vast is this operation? What is the interplay between B&J and Unilever? How are (even the fun) decisions made, like which flavors to launch, to retire, to relaunch. On the way out, we passed a Quality Control agent in his lab, standing over a bisected container of ice cream. He was clearly displayed behind a window for all to see, but no one stopped in front of the window (except us because this is a DREAM job!) and no one mentioned him or the quality control process. Come on!
In sum, the tour is very short and light on information, and seems determined to present B&J s as it appears to have been in its distant past before it became an international juggernaut. So one film, one room/hallway, one taste. 20 minutes (ish). Is this what you stood in line, jostled by crowds, and paid $4 for? Hmmm
With respect to the social justice messaging (focused on poverty [ poor people ] in America): How about charging less for your tour, or providing more of an experience? How about charging less for your ice cream? Or providing smaller, less expensive serving sizes? How about social messaging relating to another DIRE societal problem: OBESITY. Ben & Jerry s, Unilever we respect your passion for social engagement, but you seem to have a blind spot for your role in contributing to American obesity. Surely your social responsibility doesn t end with slightly lowering the fat content of premium ice creams and frozen yogurts still brimming with fat, calories, cookies and candy.
ALSO - the flavor graveyard is worth visiting. Clever, punny tributes to a handful of flavors retired over the years. (Not sure why they've chosen to feature these, or only these, given how many flavors must have been discontinued by now....?)
We didn t come when the manufacturing was in operation. So for us, the tour was just okay but the taste they give you as it closes was delicious. It s not much more than a glorified scoop shop with a gift shop. The flavor graveyard in the back was a nice touch though. Wouldn t put it as a must-do in Stowe, but there are worse ways to spend an hour and a half.
Really expensive ice-cream, even more than in the store down the street. Also there's a huge line so unless you are an ultra-fan of Ben & Jerry's it's kind of disappointing.
Interesting to hear about their history, tour pretty much highlights just one room, the production room, where the company started. Got a small taster cup of ice cream to sample.
Great tour, world's best ice cream, small giftshop still has pretty much everything you'd want. Cow jokes aplenty
Hilarious and Informative Tour Guide. Very Much Worth the Time and Money.
Delicious ice cream at there factory store in Vermont.
