This place is great! I quite enjoyed it. Awesome way to spend some time in Calgary. Check it out.

The guided tour was very informative and the building is Impressive.
You are interested in music, you are the one who wants to learn more about musical instruments and equipment, this is your place. There are lots of musical instruments and their history. There are also some designated part for practicing musical instruments even though you're beginner.
What a treat! Many aspects of music - the industry, the musicians, the instruments. Lots of history presented in an interesting and stimulating way. Not by any means a stuffy museum. You have all that and then you have the building itself which is stunning!!! If you can, try to get there for one of the demos of the cinema organ!
That's a great place to visit. Allow around half a day to explore each floor. Most interactive and fun was on floor 4
Great way to spend a rainy day.Lots of interactive musical things to do.Great for kids.
Excellent place great atmosphere and they really can cater a party.
Pretty amazing place! A performance on the Kimball theatre organ is an absolute must!!! The performer who provided a demonstration was fantastic!!!
Really cool music center! The architecture is unique and there are exhibits interesting for adults and children alike. Live bands performed for Canada Day and it was free.
Wonderful place to get a lot of music information from Canada singers
Cool building, lots to touch and try out about music. Some really interesting instruments and Canadian music history. Plus all kinds of ways to just be exposed to Canadian music.
It's a brand new, beautiful building that is worth seeing all by itself. The music center is really well done. There are three standouts for me. First, the fascinating collection of historical instruments, most of which are accompanied by recordings of what they sound like. Second, there are lots of opportunities to play with making music yourself. Last, and best is the Kimball theatre organ. Go for the demo if you can - it's worth it.
Awesome museum. It s very interactive and caters to those young and old.
Despite being a lifelong Calgarian and music lover, I had yet to tour the National Music Centre until recently. What a joy it is! I especially recommend catching a presentation on the museum's organ, which was once used as a soundtrack for silent films. There are exhibits on Canadian contributions to all genres and eras of music. Also, there are plenty of interactive exhibits which give visitors the chance to try instruments. The NMC is great, and I can't wait to go back again when I have more time. Also, the Rosso coffee shop on the main floor is quite nice, too.
It is a place that is so much fun. For those who are not interested in music, this is not the case ... You can touch and play musical instruments such as piano, guitar, drums and so on, and you can learn simple playing methods through video. I can also experience mixing. There is a mysterious electronic organ, which is sometimes free to demonstrate. I played for almost three hours.
Great experiences, well made selection of exhibits and collections. You should check it out.
Beautiful building, some interesting exhibits, however it isn't able to hold the attention of non-musicians or younger children. If you have a favorite musician that is featured you may get more out of it
A great way to spend an afternoon. Tons to interact with.
Amazing place with lots of cool music history and songs to discover the past through. There were lots of interactive displays as well that were very fun and informative. One word of advice is that this museum was oriented towards an older age group so bringing kids may not be the greatest idea. Loved the experience and took about 4 hours to go through slowly and comprehensively.
Regular live demonstrations, lots of interactive exhibits, great for all ages
Wow this building is amazing from an architectural point of view...I enjoyed a lot just observing the structure. The museum is very nice...My kids had a good time playing with the pianos and the other instruments. If you can catch the theatre organ be played is a worthy experience!!
Most visit spot on Calgary. Amazing collection of instruments and canadian musical history
Beautiful architecture, a great hands on experience. Would recommend to anyone over the age of 10.
Loved it!!! Interactive exhibits, so much information! We should have allowed for a bit more time, but made it through the whole thing and had a blast. Definitely recommend to other visitors to the city!
Amazing architecture of this building is the perfect setting for the history of Canada's music. Great visit for tourists from out of the country.
Loved it! The music center provides interesting Canadian music facts along with many interactive stations! Very informative but also a lot of fun. Ever wanted to try out a sound booth for singing? Play guitar, drums or the keyboard etc and learn about national music? Then this is the place to go! On top of all that..the architecture of the center is beautiful!
Calgary has gotten interesting. This building is fun and interesting. Love the flow of spaces and the exhibits were eye catching and informative
The exhibits don't feel fully developed. Lots of empty space or info just plastered on walls. seems difficult to justify the $18. Especially since you already paid for this place through your taxes.
This music center is not to be missed if you love music and musical insteuments. Part museum, part music venue, part recording studio, with a mix of stunning modern architecture skillfully blended with parts of the restored King Edward hotel, Studio Bell is unique.
beautiful space! Haven't seen the museum yet but I have attended events and it was amazing.
Awesome museum with great things to see, do and listen.
Beautiful design/architecture, impressive collection of everything music, fun/interesting interactive displays, informative tour, well worth the price of admisson!
Awesome place for music lovers, especially keyboard and synth lovers! John Leimseider is the best!
This is an amazing place to visit to see musical history and live music today. My daughter participates in jam club on Thursdays and loves it!
Wonderful!! Everyone should visit especially if you love Canadian music.
Lots to look at and many that you can try out aswell.
Once you get past the beauty of the actual building, you are not disappointed by the museum inside. Dedicated to all things Canadian music, this is a fascinating exhibit of the past/present/future of Canadian musicians. The numerous hands on exhibits will keep the kids entertained. Don't miss the live demo of the Kimball Theatre Organ!!
Very great attraction for all ages if you enjoy music. Cool exhibits and interactive activities.
The architecture here is amazing. If you are a fan of music... You have to visit here at least once.
Saw a show here it was aweome, would love to see some accoustic sets here!
Really wonderful building and curated by people who really love Canadian music. I took part in a wonderful workshop about Waveforms and synthesis that was fantastic- such a dynamic presenter.
Music at its best! History and much more! Come to CALGARY and see for yourself! At STUDIO BELL
The elephant in the room is the steep price tag, especially for families or larger groups. At $18 per adult, $14 for youth, and $11 for children, the price can quickly escalate, and you are bound to get more for your dollar at somewhere like the zoo or the science center, especially for young kids. For me, this was a place to come after exhausting all other attractions as a resident of Calgary.
As exhibits go there are some physical exhibits, higher amounts the higher the floor, however a lot of the museum is text on a wall. This isn't going to entertain kids for long. For older, aka over 20, adults this museum is good for evoking nostalgic feelings when seeing a guitar or piano, or maybe a costume worn by a well known musician or band. For children there are some interactive exhibits in the museum, but I found these to be a bit sparse.
The live demonstration of the organ was very engaging for all ages, and was by far the most interesting part of the experience for me.
Overall, this is a good museum to go to for the musically inclined, or someone who has visited almost every Calgary and area attraction already. The 3/5 reflects the museum's lack of physical exhibits, where most of the displays are just text that involves history that could be looked up on Wikipedia. Also, upon getting to the top, expecting the massive skybridge to be something interesting or to hold another exhibit, finding a small and empty stage was disappointing to say the least.
awesome place to bring your kids so they can see the history of everything music
This was the first time going there. Had a great time. The displays were interesting and interactive. Tons of instruments and stuff about Canadian music. We took advantage of a tour and got to hear the Kimball Organ. I was very impressed. Would recommend.
Always interesting displays, very informative!
Fun new display about Canadas influence on country music ... makes me proud!
Very very impressive museum. This museum changed my image of Calgary! If you are interested in music, please visit here to feel the soul of Canada and diverse music!!!
My partner is very keen on music history, but I am not. Saying that, I really enjoyed my time at Studio Bell. I walked away with a bit more musical knowledge and appreciation. The architecture is really beautiful. It is a gem!
Wonderful place to wander.
Lots of interactive displays and educational opportunities.
Great for musical fans and looking at the architecture.
Really interactive, great for kids, spent the whole afternoon here and loved it.
Standouts include the fantastic demo performance of the organ, the hands-on instrument lessons, and the sound recording booths. Really fun family afternoon.
Pretty neat place with lots of interesting things to do and look at! The price is a little bit expensive as you could probably spend about 2 hours there. Get there early though, there are sometimes programs that they do at 3 PM which we didn't get to see unfortunately
Incredible facility with instruments and explanation and lots of hands on exhibits and instruments to be played by anyone freely. I highly reccomend attending the theater organ presentation put on a few times a day, it's a magnificent and complex organ that fills a room and is nearly a century old. The staff are friendly and helpful, and you could easily spend a few hours checkingn out each exhibit and learning the basics of a dozen instruments while you're at it.
Never stepped foot in this building? That said , word on the block is it rocks !! Maybe someday? Update, slept outside it a lot this year. Never been in.
A top rate music history museum with very interesting exhibits. They seem to have a variety of special events and activities which is nice to see. Most of the exhibits are interactive and a lot of fun. You often get them to yourself because I find it's never really that busy, especially on week days. The building itself is stunning and is itself a work of art.
Great museum with lots of interactive exhibits. I loved the demonstration of the theater organ. The presenter knew how to inform us with precision and humor!
Far more better than our previous Christmas Party venue.
Incredible! Go and learn about Canada s music history, so much to see and do. Fun for the whole family. Plus the building is an architectural marvel.
So much to see and explore, check out the famous recording bus, lots of amazing music got produced there
Very knowledgeable guides
Went with my son'S class. Kind of boring for kids but interesting celebration of Canadiana. I think the admission is a wee pricey...
Absolutely amazing building and endless things to check out monthly!
I've went to the Rosso coffee bar in Bell Studio a number of times. The coffee at all of rhe Rosso locations is fantastic. This one has the added benefit of being surrounded by musical memorabilia and some great crafts from local and other artists from around the world.
New impressive music museum. Almost everything is interactive. If you like music at all it is well worth the price of admission.
Are you kidding me? This place is a national treasure. Come here. Right now. And I remember when Premier Klein used to come to the King Eddy, with it's cigarette burned carpet, to have many many beers. Me too. Haha!
I was a bit disappointed with how much there is to do in here. The exhibits are really cool, and the free tour was a great way to see it all, but the tour was about an hour long, and that's pretty much all there was to it.
I spent a fun 2 hours or so here, but I would have expected the National Music Centre to have more than 2 hours worth of material and exhibits.
Great place to learn about history of music and Canadian music. It's Very interactive.
Highly recommend this place. So interesting . You can find all about canadian music, interesting facts about artists and great exhibitions. Architecture is AMAZING.
We really enjoyed our visit. Beautiful facility. Terrific demonstration of the Kimball organ. Hop, skip, and a jump to the King Eddy for some Cajun food.
Really nice, relaxing and cool place. Loved the way Canada music was displayed in a great way!
Excellent event space! Tourism Calgary Open House 2019
Very interesting exhibits showcasing the history of musical instruments and particularly Canadian musicians. Some nice photo ops also available with Elton John's piano and other notable instruments.
We went on a day that they had karaoke on one floor and DJs on the top floor. It was really cool and exceeded my expectations. It had lots of interactive exhibits and would be fun for all ages.
