If you like music you can spend a lot of time and have lots of fun.
Was closed so only saw the lobby... Looks like any modern government of Canada building
The after hours party was a great event, hope that they do more of it in the future. The architecture is amazing, well arranged music halls and tons of interactive learning experiences !
Go early (they open at 10 on Sunday) and plan to stay so you can experience and play with the synthesizers, musical instruments, and see the complex Kimball organ played. Awesome...studio Bell
Just amazing ... this venue puts Calgary on the Map.
Great place! Definitely go see the organ demonstration and if you can go on a tour. I will definitely be back to check out more, they do add more to their permanent exhibits which is really nice to see!
Great place. Very hands on. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon spent there.
Awesome collection and interactive exhibits! I was only slightly disappointed that there wasn't more to do with The Tragically Hip.
Wow, blown away by the architecture in this place. Very well down. The hosted event I attended there was well run (catering, av support, and atmosphere) so I would recommend it for that. Some cool displays from the areas I did visit and interesting history. Neat how they built it onto the old King Edward hotel, a key part of Alberta's music history.
Fantastic Christmas party. Great food and service. Excellent venue.
It would've been really great, but some of the exhibits were damaged.
Fantastic experience. If you're any sort of a music lover, you have to explore this place. It's one of the most interesting hands-on museum experiences I've ever had. Go around with a tour guide, you learn more than you would on your own. And you will want to go back at least once more on your own afterwards.
If you love music, you will love this amazing place.
A place to learn more about music, instruments, Canadian artists and much more cool stuff!
Very unique museum experience with interactive exhibits and Canadian music artifacts.
Great staff. Amazing adventure in the history and the current state of it's amazing progression.
Only single music center in Canada . Great collection of music and all musical instruments including all Canadians musicians . Vintage organs and pianos in working condition . A good place to visit your own or with your family ..
Beautiful gothic modern architecture, tributes to Canadian music greats, interactive music displays and fun special events (hint: get a yearly membership to fully enjoy these)
I didn't actually experience the museum as I hosted an event here instead. Needless to say, the staff were very friendly and welcoming - a true testament of Calgary's "white hat service". The NMC is a beautiful designed space.
An amazing place with great programming, excellent exhibits, a huge collection of instruments and artifacts all housed in an incredible state-of-the-art building. Definitely worth the price of admission!
It was great and my 2 year old loved the interactive displays like the instrument rooms
Wonderful addition to Calgary. All music lovers need to visit.
Lovely architecture. Gorgeous history of music...loved our visit there!
Nice interactive dive into Canadian music history. It takes at least 2 hours to enjoy everything so the entry fee is worth it.
A lot of great stuff to see and interactivity but the cleaning staff are far friendlier than the administrative staff
Truly beautiful and historically marvellous, has so many pieces that are the only ones to survive long gone eras, architecturally stunning!
Wonderful place. We were there for hours! I would give it more stars if I could. Enthusiatic tour guides. Fun stuff to try. Great stories.
A few glitches I hope they fix. I would get a year pass if I lived in Calgary.
Very intriguing and informative place with friendly staff.
One must visit to appreciate the unique architectural design and construction of the building (outside and inside). I am hopeful more of Canada's well-known and lesser-known artists and influences to music everywhere, past and present, pack this great place with cool memorabilia, interactive information and support. Maybe radio or unplugged sessions (that would also be streamed to the Internet) so this place can be beacon and conduit for Canadian music to reach the hearts of everyone...
Incredibly awesome !!
Staff is top shelf !!
Saw Jimmy Rankin, he and his partner were off the hook !! :))
Beautiful collection for musical instruments of canadians, interaction with sounds and tones exhibitions
Beautiful building with fantastic musical exhibits which often have a canadian perspective. There is also lots to interact with.
Amazing! So many cool interactive exhibits and displays that you'll be in there for hours
a real big empty poophole. country music lovers will have a blast, but if you aren't obsessed with country music, this is a waste of space and time.
Wonderful place to go with any crowd for any occasion or exploration. We went on a tour of the museum and it was very educational and entertaining. Great for kids as the interactive displays, instruments, and other attractions keep them distracted and busy. The staff and very kind and great to go on a tour with. Totally worth it.
So many interesting music related items to learn about! I look forward to my next visit.
I was so floored by the experience of nmc. Had 5 kids with me and these were not easy kids .
The layout and design of this center is intimidating at first but as you work your way through every floor and you see how interactive it is ,.. you lose track of what it is you feel needs to be accomplished to get your money s worth. The children were absolutely captivated. There was no incessant need for attention or misbehaving of any kind as this was an environment that triggered their curiosities and kept their attention . It allowed them to explore so many facets and layers within music . Each floor felt like we were entering a new dimension
I swear I had just as much fun as the kids did . I could have spent days in here and feel as though time stood still. Awesome awesome awesome place
Great exhibits on Canadian music, highly informative with lots of friendly staff roaming around. Plenty of neat interactive exhibits with various musical instruments. We got there right when it opened on a Monday morning and it wasn t crowded at all, seemed like a good time to go.
Fantastic exhibits with plenty of hands-on activities. Be sure to check out the one-man orchestra at 3pm. Also highly recommend the Backstage tour (includes general admission) for a more tailored experience of their best exhibits!
Such a great experience! It was awesome to see how big Canada's music scene really is. Unfortunately, we didn't get to all the floors but I would happily go back! You can also get some really great views of downtown and all the development that's going on.
Interesting and interactive but more gear towards children than adults.
Very good place for learn new things about music and culture.
Every week new concerts and music show. Organ very huge. Recommend attend it once in your life.
Could have spent another few hrs there . Was very interesting
