Expect an overcooked bread-y pizza with bland tomato sauce. I hear that the 'CO natives' like this stuff but it really doesn't even hold water to an average place on the east coast. There. I said it... now I'm a pizza snob... but it's the truth

Good deep dish, basic salad bar. The wheat crust was crunchy but soft inside. It was great with the honey. Pizza is definately their speciality and all the pizzas coming out of the kitchen looked yummy. Great place to try.
Like most people I found out about this place on tv and word of mouth. It was a mighty fine pizza to say the least. Got a mountain crust pizza with pepperoni and green olive and the pepperoni was so crisp and tasty I was really loving it. I was skeptical about honey on the crust but you must try it! (also get the wheat crust, way better flavor).
There is a lot of good things about the pizza, but the sausage is a little flavorless as is the chicken but not bad.
It's a good experience and worth the try, just make sure you go to the good one in Idaho springs.
The only real con of this place is, is fast to easy to eat to much. Even the price is not that bad considering how stuffed you can get.
Will I be back? I would have to say yes.
Should you try it? Yes, if not just for the crust with the honey.
This is an after skiing tradition for us. The pizza is named mountain pie. From 1-5lbs. It is worth the wait! It s wonderful and delicious. What more can I say you have to try for yourself! And along with the pizza you have a free honey bottle where you put honey on the crust. It s great! This is a must for anybody who goes the Idaho Springs. One thing I have to say is that parking around the area is tight. Have a coat ready for a walk. But that isn t a huge problem.
Stopped at Beau Jo's on the way back from Vail for a mid-afternoon lunch. Food was good as usual, had non-dairy cheese as an available option for all of their pizza's. Food was great! Service was lacking. Had to ask multiple times for silverware, drinks, plates, etc. This was out of the normal and assuming that they were just short staffed but will definitely go back next time we are in the area.
Note to management - lettuce was a little brown in the salad bar
Beau Jo's is one of our favorite places to eat at in Idaho Springs. I love the salad bar and the hubby loves the siracha-honey hot wings. We've gone to Beau Jo's probably a dozen times and still haven't found a favorite pizza, but tonight, we may have. We tried the Lil' Italy on the Prarie crust and it was pretty darn tasty. A lot of oil leftover on the serving plate, but it was still a good pizza.
I really enjoy this location. I believe this is the original location for this one of a kind pizza restaurant. After a long day on the slopes, soaking in a hot mineral pool, or just up for the day in the hills, this location has great variety of things to eat. Traditionally they are known for their mountain pie, which has a large thick crust, that drizzled with honey, is amazing. My wife is a keto eater, so we are quite satisfied with their cauliflower crust pizza. They also consider that gluten free. Win-win for all. Not to mention a great salad bar that rests in two claw foot tubs. There is a full bar that offers plenty of craft brews and other drinks, and you have a great location to wind down and fill your belly!
Our waitress was wonderful. The food was delicious. It has a comfortable atmosphere. The best thing, though, is that in the summer, there is a pet friendly section outside!
Real good pizza and an eclectic salad bar. Friendly staff and a bustling atmosphere. You have to walk up stairs get to the restrooms but it won't be hard to refill those calories.
The food and atmosphere here is awesome! The food is heavy so go in hungry! The only reason it did not get 5 stars is that our waitress was impersonal and dismissive.
We were seated and served quickly, especially for late on a Thursday. The meatballs on our pizza were great and the pizza crust was different, but also good. My only complaint with the pizza is that the toppings tend to slide off, but nothing a fork can't help. The penne pasta served in a bread bowl was average, but the portion was large. Pour some honey on your pizza crust after you finish to satisfy your sweet tooth
I went here after doing some hiking in the mountains, and maybe it was just the altitude sickness, but this is some of the best pizza I've ever had. Apparently they cook the dough in some special way to make up for the altitude, so maybe that's what it was, but each bite got me more hooked. They give you honey to dip the crust in and the two compliment each other way better than you ever would have thought.
This place would have been a five star review, but the pizza is crazy expensive. You can go to pretty upscale restaurant for what you may end up spending here. The wait was probably like an hour too. Overall though, I think the price may be worth it.
Pay parking now. I've gone here for 29 years now, but just crossed Idaho Springs off the list of places to stop at on the way home. Enjoy your California-only clientele.
One of the quintessential Colorado eateries, Beau Jo's is more than just that place that all the locals rave about. Always go with the Mountain Pie and have fun dipping your crust in honey! I love stopping here on my way back into Denver after a long day on the slopes.
The mountain pies are the reason we went there. Being from Chicago, I'm always on the hunt for a good deep dish pizza in other states, and the mountain pies at Beau Jo's are the closest thing I have seen to Chicago-Style outside of Chicago. What I was truly craving though was a true Chicago-Style Hot Italian Beef Sub.. You know the ones I'm talking about: hot sliced prime rib on a toasted hoagie bun with giardinera peppers, melted provolone cheese, mouthwateringly spicy with a side of Au Jus?.. Lo and Behold, they make a PERFECT one at Beau Jo's, and I'd go back (& out of my way) to get that again, probably instead of even their excellent pies.. Here's the thing- I am a Chef, so I can make a good Italian Beef Sandwich myself. And even with that considered, I would STILL drive there to get that sandwich. So yeah.. it's THAT good.
Best pizza ever!!! It is well worth the money!! The honey in the crust adds an amazing flavor! Wish that we had one where we lived! If you go to Colorado and love pizza you have to here. They even have gluten and dairy free options so everyone can eat there! The one in Idaho Springs is in a cute mining town!
I love this place I grew up in Idaho Springs. I ve been going here since the early 90 s and the food is amazing... but y all really need to sweep the bathroom during COVID right? No reservations? Greeters are rude... changing a keg? Nah for a 40 dollar pizza y all could really do better!
Whether you're heading up 70 or back down on 70 to Denver you must stop at Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs for their world class pizza. Pizza and their crust like no other and with the honey they give you is out of this world.
Never had honey with my pizza but when you see the magnificence of their crust you'll know why you're given honey
The service was great and the pizza was incredible.
Seems like they were doing a fair job at keeping healthy distances and wearing masks...you know it's tough to do. The digital menu is clever, useful, safer, and future responsible!
It was ok...not bad at all. I think all of the hype kind of did it in. Good food...dont get me wrong. More of an experience I guess. Putting honey on the crust after you eat the toppings...can't go wrong!
I actually dine and dashed here because it was so... SO .... SO!!!! Bad. The food was horrible and the service was a nightmare. It made for a fun night, never dine and dashed before so it was a rush for sure. But, to be fair, we tried to ask a manager for help before doing it. So... stick it Beau Jo's! You use to be awesome back in the day after skiing.
Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Been coming here since I was a kid and while there's not always something new, the quality is always great and the people are always kind and gracious. Also, absolutely love the honey on pizza crust.
Pizza was amazing. Restuarant and saladbar were clean. Staff was friendly, patient explaining menu, and efficient. Cons: not enough parking on weekend. Bathrooms are upstairs.
Great western themed restaurant with amazing homemade pizza! I am gluten intolerant and sensitive to dairy, so i can say they're gluten free crust and dairy free mozzarella is to die for! I have been off gluten for 7 years and dairy free for over a year and it was by far the best pizza I've had in a looonng time!
This place is phenomenal, our waiter who was also the bartender was friendly and helpful as first timers. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is second to none. I spent 15 minutes looking around at all the old photos and history throughout this place, the town is very inviting and has an old town feel to it. I would eat here as a regular if I lived in the area, don't forget the honey I would have never thought to try it but man am I glad I did!
Simply put...simply the very best mountain pie pizza! No other pizza experience comes close. Atmosphere...drinks...friends...worn out from skiing!!! gotta get a hotel room and then Beau Jo's!!!!!
