The building and grounds are everything you would expect of Disney. Perfectly manicured and clean. We went for the Character Breakfast on Christmas day in the Makahiki buffet. The food was excellent and featured a few park staples, like Mickey waffles, along with local favorites, like loco moco and ling hi pineapple. Even if you don't stay there, grounds are worth walking around to see. Their cove is open to the public, but no reefs. Very calm water, good for kids. One annoyance if you swim there is a boat tour that continually drops off on the beach every 20 or so minutes.
Cannot say enough about the resort. Staff are very friendly, and always aim to please. The food is good and the pools are well maintained. The lagoon is beautiful. The rooms are well appointed and there isn't as bad view. Well worth the visit!
We went there for our honeymoon. At first, we worried we don't have enough to do. But we were wrong. We stayed for 3 nights, and everyday we were busy planning what facility or event to attend. We wish we can stay one more night. Also, i highly recommend, after arriving at Aulani, attend a tour (it's free listed on the daily activities). It will explain how Aulani's hawaiian cultures and building structure. It will make your stay more meaningful.
Service was absolutely outstanding. Seriously. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Rooms are nice. Location is scenic. Lagoon area is well-kept. Food was tasty. Overall, quite lovely.
My baby had an awesome birthday dinner. The kids got to story tell with Uncle Joe & dance to Disney musicals all while mom & dad enjoyed the awesome buffet.
It was my first time here and I had very high expectations of the Aulani Resort and the restaurant that I lunched at this past Friday. I left there somewhat disappointed. The name of the restaurant is Ama Ama that is open air and features a beautiful view of the ocean. No air conditioning made it uncomfortable for me. Part of my group arrived early and we were made to wait outside for the remaining party. Because of this they lost sales as I know we would have had drinks. I guess this is the way they operate. The food was nothing special although the prices suggested otherwise. I had the poke bowl which was a small dish of octopus, raw ahi tuna fish and egg on a bed of rice. I think Zippys does a better job at half the price. Don't get me wrong I understand I'm also paying for the ambiance. I believe my high expectations were justified given that this is a Disney property. I'll give them another chance but not anytime soon.
I went on a honeymoon. I was busy when I was checking in, and I was not allowed to say Honeymoon batch from here because I was in the fall break, but I could say Congraturation at restaurants and character breakfasts, and I received a mini-cake service. It was a hotel full of hospitality. Pama of amaama is delicious with yuzu flavor, it is recommended.
We go to the character breakfast (2 adults, one 5 year old) once a year. The food is good and there's a nice variety. We noticed the music and mic volume was very loud on this visit. Our 5 year old was having a hard time with how loud everything was. Luckily we were seated outside on the veranda, so it wasn't as bad as inside where the buffet is. The wait staff and characters were lovely, as always!
Terrific facility but too crowded to offer the level of service that should be offered. Staff is very nice individually but seems overwhelmed by sheer numbers of vacationers and corporate policy.
Hotel is beautiful and clean. The staff are amazing and very polite. Its expensive to eat but cheaper options are close by. Overall its def worth the stay
The grounds are beautiful. The hotel overlooks the water over on the west side of the island, perfect place for sunsets. The inside of the hotel is very nice, carvings and statues for suisney characters, lots of water falls, ponds and things. Beautiful but small lazy river as well. Great place!
I don't know how many guests this resort accommodates but I do know how many deck chairs you have in comparison and it's abysmal. Walking around for a half hour like and idiot hoping to see something. Finally have to sit at the back ner the restaurant. My ocean view is currently a shrub.
Just a hint Disney. For all your self assigned accolades in customer service the following:
All of those people walking around like zombies with fresh new towels, full drink mugs, and frustration visible on their faces are unhappy guests. Guests that your cast members avoid like they have the plague. Once eye contact is made 15 feet away I've had at least three people take an obvious different path to their destination in order to avoid the potential interaction.
The grounds at the Aulani are absolutely beautiful!! But they were refurbishing the lazy river so in the day time there was alot of dust in the rooms and very noisy. And being a DVC member we were not compensated in any way. The pool area was always full. Not enough lounges and pool water alittle on the cool side. Aunty's house was fabulous. The staff there are A+!!!! The gift shops are very expensive. But I would go back but not when major things are being worked on.
Beautiful resort property. Serene beach cove with fantastic Pacific sunsets. If your room is facing over the gardens and pool area, try to be on the 8th floor or higher to have an unobstructed view to the ocean. Great for kids of all ages and parents too. Loved it!
A stunning resort! My family and I went to shop at the gift store. Staff was so friendly and was able to validate parking for 4 hours. We walked through the resort and can't wait to be able to stay there! Beautiful pools, gorgeous beach, and an amazing resort!
Nice hotel, but the water park is more suited to younger kids under 10 years old. Food selection onsite is average and not great. The rooms are good size.
Characters will appear in the flowing pool !! The hot water where you can enjoy the space only for adults in the whirlpool is very pleasant and the sunset is wonderful
No blankets in the room nor towels, they only replenished towels every 3 days and nothing else were done! NO SHEETS CHANGED NOR VACUUMING. Called housekeeping, front desk, even spoke to an executive but nothing. They just take your $$ and you get to use dirty towels, sleeps in dirty sheets for the duration of your stay.
I wonder does the executives @ Disney sleep & wash in DIRTY SHEETS & TOWELS?
I love Hawaii, the people and their culture BUT NEVER WILL BE AT THIS RESORT! SERVICE SUCKS!
DON'T BECOME DVC MEMBERS......YOU'RE JUST 2ND CLASS CITIZENS AT BEST! BOOK AT MOTEL 6, AT LEAST YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT AND NOT BE RAPED BY GREEDS AS DISNEY HAS GOTTEN TOO BIG FOR THE LITTLE PEOPLE!
I stayed here a few weeks ago for a wedding & this place is amazing. I also had the best housekeeper named Stevie that did an outstanding job cleaning my room and was so friendly and very professional!!!!
Expensive (even by Oahu standards), though the grounds are compact and full of things to do. Great service and character experiences. The rooms are also large and have nice balconies.
The lagoon is extremely murky, and they cancelled the luau with only a few hours notice (they called the room phone, not my cell which they have on file). They did eventually assist in helping us book a luau down the road at Paradise Cove.
I'd only visit Aulani again if there were a deal on the rooms. It was fun, but for four nights here I could have gone on a week long Disney World vacation instead.
Shops, restaurants, and pools provide a perfect Disney experience. $37 all day parking for visitors can be validated at the shops with $50 purchase. The private lagoon is the perfect place to watch sunset.
This is an amazing property, with great attention to detail. I highly recommend visiting if you are a hardcore Disney fan. If you are not, then you are probably better served at another resort.
The cast members are amazingly nice and helpful. The pool, lazy river, snorkel reef, and beach is only a few of the many reasons to visit Aulani. Loved the relaxed atmosphere of the resort.
