Not many animals at all, and many animals are hardly seen.

Also they currently having promotions selling annual pass at half of normal price, we only bought our annual pass two weeks ago, and they said it cannot be refunded, so we paid 100 more! I dont think it is fair for people who bought annual pass at regular price, if they want to do promotions they should only do one off tickets not annual pass, why should people pay $100 more to have the same services and because the promotion there much more people than usual, that effects your experience as well.

Because they having promotions, there are so many people, awalys a long queue waiting to get in and always crowd inside the zoo. You have to wait to see the animals.

Also hard to find car park if you dont get there before 10.

Not recommended.

It's a lovely little bush walk on its own. The cool exhibits only add to the experience. Some renovation work going on in the middle of the zoo so some animals aren't where the map shows them to be.

Terrible place. Came here to spend the day with the family but the food options are limited to ice cream and an overpriced restaurant who can't cater to different dietary requirements. The enclosures are really good at hiding the animals so don't expect to see anything more than the back of a head through the shrubbery.

Wellington zoo beats this hands down. If you are travelling the country I would highly recommend that instead of this one.

Incredible the zoo animals look settled and quite at home and having the different countries displaying there insects and animals was the best. There lots of maintenance ans building going on but you dont mind cause you know irs too benefit the animals

If not the best zoo in the world - this must be close. The business model is easily the world's best - love the idea that the humans are behind the screen. Can't wait for the renovations to be completed.

The zoo is amazing we come here yearly and seeing the transformation from what it was to where it will eventually be in the future is great. The only let down was the main cafe located in the centre. The seating is perfect; staff are very friendly with big smiles. However; the food was a bit of a let down and a little over priced for what we had. Despite this we still feel the zoo has much to offer. Looking forward to seeing the completion of the zoo.

We have membership, and happy to visit their. Though, comparing to other zoos we have been in around the world, this one is a bit run down. Great to see some Zebras, Giraffes and a rhino. But most other animals are either not in their cages, or look half asleep or half dead. We did see any elephants, tigers, otters, lemurs, monkeys, red pandas, devils, spiders, hipo.... The new Kangaroos are cool though. Hopefully they will invest in more animals soon!

Nice zoo. Is currently in the conversion of some enclosures. Visit is worthwhile anyway. With luck you can also see a kiwi if they are not hiding. Beautiful enclosure. I also find the volunteers who explain to the kids what peculiarities the animals have. The really great made

Nice experience. Animals are treated well. But there seem to be a lot less these days than they used to be. Great commitment to the Sumatran tiger breeding program. Food prices are expensive. Admission is fair. Much better quality zoos overseas for less though.

Such an amazing conservation-led zoo. Great habitats for the animals. Very informative staff and volunteers, with regular talks throughout the day. What a great day out and very good value. Even the food is priced well and is very tasty, so no need to bring your own food.

Very impressed by how far Auckland Zoo has come in the last few years. Recent improvements & upgrades make for a pleasant environment for both animals and people. It's nice to see the animals so happy and relaxed in their enclosures. A great day out.

This is a great place to spend the day but surly one day is not enough with so many things to explore. Very well organised and so many different animals to visit. Such a wonderful experience every time .

The improvement project looks very interesting!
Can't wait to see how it goes.
Otherwise a lot of animation throughout the day.
Possibility to see kiwis quite easily

World class Zoo. Had an amazing Fathers Day here with my Dad; the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially as I had hired a mobility scooter and the lovely lady in the information office made sure all went to plan. The animals are gorgeous and well cared for. Thank you!

Great zoo for the animals and the keepers, not for the public though. Beautiful grounds and amazing enclosures. But this means we only saw animals in about a be third of the displays. No giraffes, they were put away. Few monkeys but most hiding as well. One small elephant. No rhinos. Wasted money and day. Hamilton zoo is a much better design and experience.

Excellent time at the zoo. Was showery but there is plenty of shelter. Lots of development going on so will be more changes. Meantime saw lots of animals and especially enjoyed two active kiwis, bunch of otters and as always the meerkats. Great talk given by keeper at meerkats feeding.

It s great to see all the animals areas are clean and spacious. And you can tell the people working there love it. The free zoo talks were fun too! Definitely one of the better and environmentally friendly zoos.

Enjoyed visiting this zoo and would come back to visit again. The animals were in very interesting enclosures and they weren't all hiding away out of sight. The atmosphere was very happy and everyone was cheerful. I recommend visiting this zoo if you are in the Auckland area.

Ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the back of the station wagon on a rainy day. Could hear the lions roaring (eerie sound) calling out for their dinner. We had a great time! Children were 2, 4, 6 and 30!!!! Lol!

Be Warned!!
applied to the Auckland zoo gift shop 16/10/2018
purchased Good on ya/organic balm I come to realize that
it had expired June 2018, of which I took back to the shop
I spoke to a different store person (female) may have been the manager?
- we agreed that I would pay half price for it since I was
still interested in the product, But when I got to the counter
she decided unilaterally: without discussing with me that she would refund me
entirely, which was fine it made sense But maybe next time discuss with the customer your decision on the outcome of that purchase as oppose to deciding counter to what you discussed with the cust? and further discriminating your shop for not knowing the expiry dates of your products with questionable customer service. Not happy with how this purchase refund was handled. Would have posted earlier but was not able to.

Very disappointing not even worth a star. The advertisement and promotion of the zoo is very deceiving. Improvements and renovation been happening since 2016 and still nothing much to see. Entry fee per adult $28.90 sometimes on $24(promotion price?) Still not worth it. The two most professional animal of all are the red panda and meerkats. Please don't tell me that I've come at the wrong time because we have been trying givinng hopes and times and times we were disappointed. Regardless of the sesson of visit shouldn't it be kept lively and happening? We had always wanted to be the friends of the zoo however its not good enough to be one with the price .We try to visit at least 4 times a year. Africa? What Africa? You mean empty desert with a few birds? What ocean? Seal with sad call or lying down flat like it's dead? Anyway, not sure if we will be visiting or even recommend it to anyone. Very sad.

With a yearly family pass certainly helps out financially... great idea and recommended. Its our backyard so to speak with animals. No we dont live near by, so the commute is well worth the travel spending a full afternoon there. Alwsys enjoy an icecream, or eat at the eatery. Kids will enjoy the animals and the play area. Photos are provided too.

Beautifully curated sensory experiences. Such effort and care has gone into the planning and the layout and the presentation. The forest walk by far my favorite. As authentic as ... the stick insects a close second. See how many you can spot in the second and fifth pics.

Love the zoo. If you haven't been for a while then there's lots of changes and new things underway. I'd suggest waiting a couple of months before visiting as the construction will be over with and you'll be able to have an even more enjoyable experience. (Take a picnic and save yourself from buying expensive food)

Good times at the zoo. The park is clean and the animals look satisfied. The staff are friendly and informative and it's cool to have the animals walk through the grounds at different times during the day. Love that it's smokefree and really family friendly. The food is on the expensive side and mostly from the deep fried food group so bring a picnic and sit by the rotunda. Christmas at the Zoo is a great evening for family groups and couples alike.
