Average on a winters day.. Some of the exhibits a bit run down. Kids loved it though, that's the main thing!

A wonderful, compact and beautifully kept zoo where the animals are very well taken care of. We love learning about the native NZ wildlife there especially. I enjoyed the visit.

Very over priced.... most of the main animals were not visible

Wonderful visit and in particular loved the baby tortoise. Always a lovely visit out and the cafe food was yummo.

Great place to go for a regular walk. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Still waiting for the new exhibits to open.

The zoo is good, but there are fewer patterns to look at. The place is quite big. The best thing is the tiger feeding! The tiger is only separated from you by a layer of glass.

Set out really well, interesting things to read for the kids.

Have not been informed that a large section of the zoo was closed for redevelopment. The options for food and drink were limited and very expensive .Only able to fill water bottles from water fountains, which would be a good idea if the water was chilled and filtered but it was warm and disgusting. You were able to purchase other sugary soft drinks all in plastic bottles but not water. Not very well thought out or implemented. Would give a miss as a lot of the encloses are small.

Great day out with the kids. Auckland Zoo are always modernizing and upgrading their enclosures.

Although the animals are well care for, there us a significant sized area of the zoo currently under construction.

Been there 2 years ago, a very good and tidy place to go with family or friends.

Took a school group as part of their learning. Went around before their lecture. Group went separate ways and met up before lecture. Lots of interesting developments going on for the near future.

A must come. Your $ can help save the animals too overall its a very nice experience.

What i love about auckland zoo. they really conserve and help animals.
For example what attracts me..they helped and save penguins that are almost die from predators. There are many penguins that only have 1 fin left. Sad :(
They also care about sumatran tiger that they didnt use soap contains palm oil.
They also have those unique giraffe. I forget what its called
They set up a natural habitat for crocs

There are giraffe. Zebra. Sumatran tiger. Rhino. Love bird. Cheetah.little joey. Crocs. Penguin. Seals. Bugs. Kiwi (very hard to see). Otter. Peacock. Deer. Orang utan. Monkey and a few more. The view is good too.

Near Xiquan. Very beautiful zoo. You can also see a lot of small cargo trains along the road from Xiquan. The animals here live in a relatively quiet and free environment. Be sure to get the map. The garden that goes right is the most interesting garden.

Great time at the Auckland Zoo. Went with my family and it took us a couple of hours to go around. My daughter enjoyed the experience.

Staff was very nice and helpful including the animals. Very busy. Not enough car parks. Will take up half a day or more to really take it all in.

Awesome experience for kids and adults alike. But pricey but the year passes are incredible value for money

Auckland Zoo is a zoo for a great city, it s got all the animals you d expect in a zoo, which is by no means a measure of the quality of a zoo, the true measure is the workers and zoo keepers who are all very friendly and make you feel comfortable, I ve loved it every times I ve gone here

Great time had by all the family. Not a whole day trip anymore. Still alot of construction going on in the centre. Hopefully it will be amazing when all completed.

I really liked this zoo very much. The enclosures are relatively large and there is always a kind of consultation with the animal keepers tell a lot about the animals and also answer many questions. Who at least one day before buying the tickets online gets even discount.

Very good place to visit with friends or family. The Zoo looks well taken care of and clean. The animals are active. What I liked the most is that there are many caregiver interactions with the public, in this way, we know more about the work of the Zoo, the animals and the daily life of the people who work there. The keas are beautiful.

Wheelchair wise, it was hard and the company should layout a more accessible route to follow to make it easier...
Bathrooms large enough for manual chairs only. But it was a good 4.75 hours

So much fun. I think what makes the zoo really great is that the paths to the different areas are pretty immersive. I got to see a kiwi! Definitely the highlight of my visit :)

Great fun! Very clean and tidy. Weekend is busy so try avoid it then. Lots of construction but entry fee is cheaper because of this...

Still lots to see. Can't wait for the renovation to finish.

A disappointment not all there not worth the money family pass with an extra adult was $104 so was disgusted.

A lot closed which is a bit disappointing but still a great visit.

An amazing zoo with much to offer! The scenery and decorations around the zoo are great and the whole park is just stunning. Great day out for a family trip!

Beautiful, well-designed, and well-maintained. A little far from downtown but an easy bus ride.

Looking awesome, had another great experience today. Clean, tidy, friendly with plenty of refreshment areas, toilets and rest areas.

A large part under construction. Kids loved it though. Happy looking animals...particularly the baboons who were licking each others bottoms.

Fantastic upgrades so far, still a large part under development. Get in early to avoid crowds. Family favorite!

No gluten free food anywhere in the zoo. Bring your own if you're coeliac

Lovely zoo. Unfortunately having work done at the moment so some animals not there.

A zoo designed for the animals, both a pro and a con for visitors. Still enjoyed it a lot. Food stalls were a let down.

For the low price of entry I did not expect such a beautiful park. The animals look healthy and have enough space (this is unfortunately not the case for all zoos), we can eat for cheap, explanation panels are interesting, and the friendly volunteers, what more can you ask for?

Even with construction going we got up close with the elephants, rino and very close to the tiger, the redpanda was very active. There was food, and refreshments sprinkles around the park whole Thier main eating area is being upgraded.

Staff were awesome but there was too much construction going on. Animals were awesome to watch. The kids activities helped them engage.

Went to see Bug Lab but on last visit to Auckland Zoo, it is being transformed into much more natural enclosures for the animals and is a great place to visit.

A great example of what a zoo should be like. A must visit while in Auckland.

The downside for the zoo at present (April 2019) is there is alot of development going on, thus large areas with no animals in it at present, should be great once finished

Had to change our review. The Zoo does not display Hedgehogs and Bushtail possums. We believe in businesses and NGO's that has an inclusive non judgemental atmoshere. We have read the comments of other reviewers and decided to support them.

Kids will love it. Keep an eye out for the elephant taking his walk. The aviary tree top walk is also with a visit.

What an awesome experience, very open and you can clearly see the animals are well cared for. The staff and zoo keepers are very passionate and helpful. Well priced at only $24 per person or $19 for a student. Can happily spend 3 hours here walking around. Cafe was yummy and not over priced. The zoo is a nonprofit so admission also goes straight back to helping the animals. Definitely worth a vist for all animal lovers.
