Grandies were disappointed not to see any hippos or polar bears..but really we had an epic visit. Only one down comment, felt the photos taken at the entrance to collect later were a bit pricey!

Well maintained zoo, everything was nicely organised. I like this medium sized zoo, easy to cover watching all the animals and birds inside. Kids zone was my daughter's favourite. Bugs lab was interesting to people who are curious about the defence mechanisms human adapted from small creatures.

This experience surpassed expectations and the changes and improvements in the zoo over the past years do them proud. Early in the day on a drizzly morning meant that the animals were very active too.

Don't bother until all the renovations are complete as its a pain to get around and a number of exhibits are closed. It's also really lacking food options. Pity as we normally love it when we visit New Zealand.

Some of the zoo is under development which we were not aware of as visitors to the country. Had to search for information boards on some of the enclosures. Was okay but not as good as zoos in other countries I have experienced

To be honest it s a hit or miss with what you get to see here. In the last a few times we ve been we haven t seen the lions at all, and only seen the tigers active once. The construction is very disruptive and while it will be great to have once complete, there s no compensation for the interruptions it causes.
For the enclosures and animals we do see, it s worth it however. It s a nice day out with the family in any case.

Last I came here, there were barely any animals on display - maybe it's the season, or maybe it's the time? This time I've taken the visit on a winter late morning till late afternoon during school holidays. Most animals are out, overall was a nice tiki tour around the park with lots of places to rest, including toilets, eatery and accommodation for the disabled. Because it's school holidays though, there are tons of kids running around and climbing places, so maybe not the best time to visit the zoo as mothers often taken kids there. Wasn't able to see any shows but a red panda feeding I so happen to run into. Took me about two hours to walk through the zoo. Parking is a madhouse this morning, again due to school holidays. The zoo opens at 0930 and I got there at 1030, with the main carpark filled completely and almost all full at the second carpark opposite it. Unfortunately didn't take much photos this time, but did take videos.

Not now.Overall good place but huge construction center of the park was quite disappointing and confusing the way to go.Recommend to wait til it's over and new area is opened.
When I went there, I was doing large-scale construction and the landscape was ruined and the roads were hard to see. It is better to go after finishing.

I have been to many zoos in different countries but this zoo is so much designed keeping natural aspects. African pavilion is most wonderful and variety of animals can be seen. However also saw elephant from Burma in African pavilion.
Kiwi was obviously in NZ area and its was the only animal of attention most of the places were empty, I believe on vacation:)

Just did the Galapagos Tortoise experience for my birthday. So wonderful to learn about these amazing animals and interact with them, the keepers do such a great job. The tortoise was happy to have us there too! Thanks so much Auckland zoo for an experience of a lifetime!

I love a zoo as much as anyone and this was a great experience. Not only are the animals amazing but it's fantastic to see the zoo so involved in conservation and research.

I'll be extremely happy to return when they have completed the new exhibit!

I had an annual pass for a long time, I've just renewed and I can't get my pass til the new process sends it to me. Plus the one good thing as a parent is gone! The great indoor cafe with brilliant coffee is gone! I wouldn't recommend the zoo as a place for parents who like a place to sit with a coffee, it's a hot place with hardly any respite from the heat.

Pleasantly surprised, I have been to zoos all around the world and Auckland Zoo despite not being as big as many of them, still ranks well amongst my experience. It feels less like a Zoo curated with cages, but instead makes you feel as if you are just strolling through the environments native to the animals they house. Very cool.

It was good to see the animal healthy and safe ' conserving the endangered species is really appreciating .the thing that attract me in Auckland zoo was the habitats animals were kept in there specific habitat so that they feel free and grow well like in there own environment.

Animals live in their reconstructed natural environment. To access the rooms there are places of separation with double doors: one does not open if the other is not closed ... it seems to really be in various parts of the world
