Very nice zoo with enclosures that are well integrated into the landscape. Many options for eating.
Unfortunately, a few renovations were going on during this visit, but the time before (early 2017) we had seen everything.
Good place to visit for kids and family. Lots of animals to see.
Wonderful place to visit with kids! Have annual passes and renew every year. Seeing the animals is incredible and they really enjoy learning about all the different species! Love how well cared for the animals are now after all the changes from when I was little:)
Best experience ever with helpful/knowledgeable staff.
It was an amazing experience roaming around the zoo and seeing the lovely animals.
There is so much to see and do. Definitely a days outing
For people who don't travel, it's a chance to see some of earth's wonderful wildlife. Especially like the underwater sea lion viewing area.
Auckland Zoo is so well set out and the animal displays so natural, one of my favourite zoos
Nope. Small, sad and uninspiring. I'm not sure if I grew up or if zoo's became bad but it's just sad to see animals in boxes looking bored and depressed.
Lovely place to spend the day looking at the wild life.
I met a parrot that couldn't fly sitting on a tree and then the lady who cares for him came over and picked him up and he perched on a stick she had and she started running and the flightless bird spread his wings as if he was flying. It was great
was ok a lot of building going on so a bit messy but good day all the same
I went to the zoo on a good sunny day. I didn't like the experience , the Lions , tigers , cheetahs we're all asleep. The zoo doesn't have as many animals , such bears , grollias , leopards , hippo's and it is a very big disappointment. I don't think it was worth it , and it was a waste of time.
Still under renovation, but still good for the kids.
Very disappointed. Took my son there and paid full price for three of us and no animals were to be seen. At least reduce the ticket price or leave signage out saying what animals will not be out on this day before you pay but nothing never felt so robbed in my whole life and all my son got to see was a giraffe and a couple of meerkat and eels. Never going back again.
It was under construction last time we went but love the tigers and love seeing the elephants!!! Great for a whole day trip. Pack a picnic and me it a date or a family outing
The Zoo is always a great experience to take the family or even have a wander around to take photos. We visit here at least once every year and love seeing all the new enclosures and new animal babies that have come along.
A great zoological garden and place to enjoy a day out with the family.
This has been my favourite zoo trip, even on a rainy day. I loved all the Aviaries and getting up and close with some of the animals.
The only downfall was that the coffee cart closed very early which was a shame.
Had a very enjoyable time strolling around for nearly 3 hours in the rare sunshine.
Great day out. A lot of it was under construction or renovation when we went. Plenty of toilets and places to stop. The kids loved it.
The environments for the animals are wonderful.
I went to a zoo open late, which was a great opportunity. Unfortunately, the people giving the talks seemed to be not sure of the schedule that they were supposed to be working on so there were some missed sessions.
Be aware there are a lot of areas under construction or renovation, so you won't be able to see some of the animals at the moment.
This is always a must do in Auckland. The staff are down to earth and care about their charges. Lots of open space and beautiful surroundings being right next to Western Springs. And we had great help from staff in finding a carpark. Our Hawaiian family loved their time here.
Be prepared for looong walks. Went there Aug 2017 and they were still in construction for better things. Waaaay much better then what it use to be. Friendly staff and more variety in amimals.
Nice compact zoo. The way it is designed it is easy to get from any part to another. Good range of animals too. Awesome day out with friends.
Nice place to come with friends and family and also gets close to nature.
The park route is well planned, and it does not disturb the animals at all. Sometimes it is very loving to see the breeders feeding them. You can walk around for about four hours.
Wish I stayed home and watched the tele instead. My daughter cried when the elephants couldn't fly like Dumbo. Appalling.
Love the Auckland Zoo! A beautiful space to wonder around and watch the animals in carefully planned habitats. Its a conservation Zoo so there is a lot of information about the animals and their welfare. Best part is the native NZ section.
Zoo very good. Large amount of species to observe with explanations on some. It takes a good half day to have time to go around the park. The NZ Native Animal Zone is great! Possibility to see kiwis and kea.
Spent a whole day there with my nephew. Fabulous time we both had. AWESOME
Good, but will be awesome once the future zoo building project is completed.
Great so, amazing set up and friendly staff. Animals look great!
Half the enclosures were closed and it was very confusing getting around.
Fantastic day out! But a little pricey, especially for students. Great fun if you can afford it though and sometimes even interactive
In remodeling and everything we loved. Small but very cozy and easy to walk with good access. Excellent quality and care of animals. Highly recommended in your visit to Auckland
Visited Bug Lab, and as a friend of the zoo it was very reasonably priced. The actual expo was awesome. They picked some great bugs, good mix of amazing and a but scary for the kids
Loved seeing baby zebra. Work still being done to update zoo however doesn't impact seeing all the wonderful animals at the zoo.
Bit different than any other zoo I've been till now. Animals habbitats are arranged very nice with some old boats or cars. Worth to spent some time.
Saw the kiwis. Tick off the only tourist thing we wanted to do. So cute.
So expensive for what you Don't get..Where have all the animals gone
Our last visit to the zoo was ok but as they are currently redoing a large amount of the zoo it was not as good as usual. Also some of the animals in the enclosures that were open were in their back enclosures to set up activities for later in the day which wad quite disappointing considering the amount of exhibits that are being renovated so are not open also.
On the positive side the food and coffee amount the cafe was awesome and the ice cream my son got was delicious
There have a lot of animals and it was very big so chriden need to walk with parents in the zoo
Fun day out and the renovations are coming along nice.
Great evening, such a variety.. Had a lovely 2.5 hours.
So many volunteers around to ask questions. Great experience!
Good place for the kids just waiting for the renovations to finish for it to be even better :)
I really enjoyed my visit to the zoo (a really big one!) we get lost, almost don t finish it. But really enjoy noticing that a lot of animals over here have baby s or are taking care of their eggs which I haven t see on any other zoo in the world. The insect exposition was stunning and amazing and the coffe and snacks were really good.
Don t forget to bring your student ID to get a discount!!
Lovely zoo. Easy to get around. Lots of areas for picnics and play areas. Not so good for disabled and wheelchair users. Surfaces are uneven on places. Toilet facilities could include change tables for older/larger people not just babies. The hand rail was just the height that blocked the view of my wheelchair user so could not see most of the animals. Staff (Ray) were exceptional, friendly and helpful. Recommend a visit
Love the place. Big place but it feels like you don't have to walk very far. Kids loved it too.
I have been to a few zoos during my childhood and I can assure that Auckland Zoo is a well looked after place! They have constant maintenance to improve the wellbeing of the animals and to provide a nice informative and instructive experience to the visitor.Great carrying staff members that are always willing to help and to have a positive connection amongst themselves, animals and visitors. Great size, clean, good size carpark and kids playground. The Auckland Zoo also offer spaces for a kids party, movie nights and concert on the premises.
Very nice outlay. Heaps of animals to see. Grand child enjoyed it heaps.
Large areas, animals are kept in conditions as close to natural - lots of plants, ponds, different landscapes. Animal well-maintained, it is interesting to observe them. Amused peacock beggar) He freely walked around the zoo, approached the visitors.
Went over the holidays and enjoyed the walk around the park. Think we spent about 4 hours at the zoo. Had a picnic between the elephants and lions! My partners favorite was the Galapagos tortoises. Got a souvenir magnet in the shop for 2.50$ at the end. Had a great day!
We love the elephants and sea lions! Plenty to see, and the annual passes are good value
There were a lot of animals in the zoo but most of them were sleeping and theres specific times where the trainer/zoo keeper comes to feed the animal like lions or sea lion and we can watch them and listen to them explain about the animals
A great place to bring the family....the yearly package is amazing
Sadly, this particular trip was about average. Whilst the zoo is still under construction, I wouldn't recommend a visit - wait until it's done a bit more first.
Great place for children. Lots of activities and animals
Great place to admire different animals in their natural surroundings
The last time in was at Auckland Zoo was in early 2015 for our wedding (which was the best time!) so I was super impressed to see how much everything has changed and developed in such a short time.
The whole experience feels so much more cohesive and positive for the animals there. It s a really great layout, particularly the enclosure for the orangutans and the other monkeys.
Although the food in the cafe is expensive, it s good quality. If you re trying to save a bit, bring a packed lunch.
Thanks Auckland Zoo for your ongoing conservation and education work.
I aZOOmed there would be tigers but there were none.
Great! Really clean and informative! Fantastic animal life!
Staff are committed to the wellbeing of the animals!
Brilliant zoo, really laid out with nice facilities and a brilliant collection of animals and creatures. Highly recommended.
