Nice and big zoo
They have almost all the animals which are quite rare to find
Awesome layout and easy to see all the animals, no hills like wellington zoo :)
The zoo is well maintained and has variety of animals to watch. It takes like 4 hours to watch everything in the zoo. Sessions hosted are very informative.
I previously loveed the zoo due to the amount of animals and how much it cost but now that I haven't been there a for a while I decided I would go.There are not as many animals and some of them look sad. They are continuing to work to build it bigger but for now I'd say it's pretty much ok.
Everything is wonderful. It is better to go without a group. Calmly all saw, enjoyed. Take drinking water with you There they sell only sweet drinks.
Paid so much and only 20% of the exibit had animals. Not interesting.
Did the Galapogos tortoise experience, our guide was extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly. Was awesome.
The place is great, and the temporary Bugs exhibition was mind blowing. They even have kiwis! The only reasons why I don't give them 5 stars is because: a) too large area under redevelopment at once, b) the map/schedule is too confusing, it's difficult to navigate, I got lost many times and it was the map's fault, it's not well done and the indications are poor.
Most of them are being repaired, the animals you want to see do not have embarrassing rz, you can try Wellington s
A lot of the animals weren't even there and there is no way of telling if they're just not there for the day or if they are hiding away or tucked away somewhere out of view. Overall, a great experience for all animal lovers.
A lot of things under construction or improvements!
Far too expensive for myself (as a pretty senior' senior citizen) to take each of my three sets of grandchildren to Auckland Zoo, after many visits over the years taking their parents there and their friends when they were kids!
I liked the compounds designed with the animals natural environment in mind!
This last visit may be my final one . . . .
Unless I win Lotto! I could then also give a serious donation to the Zoo's upkeep!
A fantastic day out for the whole family. I highly recommend it.
Always a fun place to go with the kids. Good place to walk around the springs lake too. Some amazing very old long fin eals in the waterways. Lots of birds that enjoy a bite of your sandwich if they get to close... so watch out! Plenty for the kids to do and play with to burn up some energy.
Nice place to visit numbers of animals from different continents are here
Really cool zoo! More space for The animals would be better! Computer to Ree Park Sarafi back in Denmark!
Always a great experience. Looking forward to the renovations completing!!
Awesome zoo, shame though that because of work being done, at the moment, you miss on a couple of areas
I very much enjoyed the kiwi house, and the chance to hobnob with the various parrots in the giant aviaries. I don't know that it would take up a full day, and some of their audio gear for the tiger talks might need going over, but it's good clean fun for the whole family.
Also, they sell poop to take home.
We Had a great family day at the Zoo, have visited a lot of zoos around the world and this is one of the best.
School holiday fun...love the Zoo and so did my 5 year old and his friend
Wonderful zoo, just sad that some exhibits were closed due to renovation, however the renovations will look amazing once finished.
Always fabulous. Will be even more fabulous when all the renovations are done.
Some enclosures are still too small and there are no plans for enlarging those in the near future. Helpful knowledgable staff.
Hi it is a great place to have lovely encounter with animals from around the world bye for now Marianne
If you love to see animals up close, then the Auckland Zoo is the place for you! As you enter, there is a safari-like experience, with giraffes, zebras, and other animals roaming around freely in the center.
However, as Auckland can get REALLY sweltering hot, there should be more shade-providing facilities and more drinking water spots for the poor animals. It feels so bad to see them under the sun.
Great zoo, lovely open and naturalistic enclosures for the animals.
Partially under construction for the new tiger enclosure currently
I'm really impressed with Auckland Zoo. Their habitats are large and the animals really do seem looked after. My best tip would be to see all the talks of the biggest animals. They usually food them to get them active which causes for a better time and better photos! If there's a gap between time just use it to see other animals or lunch. Always a good time there.
Very good zoo, but you pay full price to see only half of it because of the works. A reduction would have been welcome.
The renovations are a bit of a pain, but by and large it's OK.
In spite of the major construction work at the zoo at present, the rest of the zoo is lovely. The elephants eating, and the lions roaring gave us a great show.
Loved the lizards and tortoises. The giraffes were waiting to go back inside as the afternoon cooled off.
We had coffee and scones and the staff at The Elephant House Cafe were polite and friendly.
We've been to zoos in England and Europe and we think Auckland is as good as any we have seen.
Friendly staff and incredibly helpful and informative volunteers so make the visits to the changing animal environments all the more enjoyable.
Was great but we went on a rainy day so a lot of the animals were hiding from the rain. Children still liked it. Lots to look at.
Well-established, relatively manageable zoo. Lovingly laid out. Pretty crowded.
Lots of construction but good overall. Sadly the kiwis didn't come out play
A pretty good place to spend an afternoon. The queue for tickets werw short and the staff were friendly
Very organized, with animals from various regions of the world. You can see the kiwi, but you can not take a photo.
It was super dope! Very interactive, Its probably my favorite zoo, And I have 3words to describe this zoo, Just.Pure.Awesomeness
I love how this zoo does so much for the environment and protecting the future of animals
Great place to bring the kids for a day out, even better if you can do it midweek to beat the crowds
The new cafe and Orangutan enclosure is amazing. Still undergoing major construction but it will be amazing once finished. Kids love the play park. Very busy during school holidays. Get a yearly pass and go anytime. It's well worth it.
Unfortunately after Melbourne zoo you are really hard pressed to find something better. The zoo was lovely with lots of beautiful separate areas to explore and was good for a small town zoo
Amazing and wonderful environment. Perfect day to spend 5 hours soaking in all that these creatures have to offer, fantastic!
Missing quite a few animals during our visit. There was no lion, no tigers, no hippo's, and no rhinos. Disappointing to say the least.
Good experience, with animals increasingly in a more natural environment. Except, these animals are the 'lucky' ones, as most in the wild eventually get eaten by others in the food chain.
It is recommended to go in the morning and you can see animals walking around
Was the best value auckland event we did on our holiday highly recommended.
I love coming here with my daughter and wife. My daughter loves roaring at the lions and trumpeting at the elephants! We were gifted a one year pass as a Christmas present, and it's one of the best gifts we've ever received. Thoroughly recommend, one of the best zoos I've ever been to, excellent enclosures.
Other is a beautiful place and awesome for families.
Half of it is closed with renovations so expensive to see so few animals as they are all being rehoused. Should get a discount during this period.
Auckland Zoo is great day out for the family or just on a date. Lots of animals to see. Very clean and well maintained!
wonderful place to take the kids, but I probably enjoy it more than them!
What a beautiful zoo! The staff was so friendly, great exhibits, and you can tell the animals are well cared for. So happy I decided to come.
Great experience with the family. Parking was a nightmare but apart from that it was wonderful!
