Such a fantastic Auckland attraction. Would usually give 5bstars but since its currently undergoing some major construction I'll have to take a star off for now. Looking forward to the #FutureZoo though!
We love our zoo, and it only keeps getting better. The facilities are great, love how the animals are displayed and they give us the impression of being well looked after. The cafes are OK and the distribution of the park makes it easy to move around. Just wish parking could be easier, as it gets so difficult over the busy summer period.
Great Zoo, friendly helpful staff and interesting informative exhibits. Lovely habitats. We visited Te Puna Cafe for lunch. Good service, food average though there was a good variety to choose from.
I had my first date here, it was quite fascinating.
So much better than we last went, which was probably 8 years ago, or more.
The orangutansl enclosure is fantastic, cant wait for the new section to be finished, will be amazing!

Like most zoo's I end up wondering "where are the animals?". The zoo itself is great quality, with nice enclosures, but it mostly it felt like a long walk through a fancy park.
The zoo itself is pretty good. Lots of different animals, plenty of places to eat and lots of shady paths to walk.
Parking is a nightmare so either turn up at opening time if you plan to drive or catch some form of public transport or rideshare.
Amazing attraction and space. Loads of renovations happening at the moment but it's all worth it since the zoo will be even more spectacular when all the new spaces open. Still worth a visit as we spent the whole day there and still didn't complete walking around the whole zoo as there was just so much to see and do! The kids loved the open spaces, the knowledgeable and informative staff, the well looked after and happy animals, the clean space, awesome food and let's not forget the new resources and holiday activities on offer too. Fantastic work and high praise for Auxkland Zoo and its staff!
Perfectly sized for a day trip. The zoo obviously takes conservation very seriously and tries to maintain an environment most suitable for the animals. I was most impressed by the kiwi section, which had an extended discussion about how and why they are endangered, as well as conservation efforts that are underway. The rest of the zoo was well laid out with a nice amount of animals for each region.
It's OK at this stage, but that is because there is construction of new exhibits etc... I will update my rating when I have been to the completed & upgraded facility
The distance to the animals is very close, and the environment is very friendly. The staff also answered the tourists' enquiries carefully and were very friendly. Although there are not many animals, there are the most exotic birds to see!

Lovely sunny day. Ample of walking paths. Well managed animal enclosures. Helpful zoo keepers. Didn't find the Kiwi enclosure that well lit. Still building more geographically inclined habitats. Good job Auckland Zoo team!

The zoo is very well maintained and the layout seemed to have a natural flow. The animal enclosures are spacious and it is clear that the zoo cares for the animals' well being.

Free scooter hire incredibly helpful for those with disability issues.
Great experience just it was a shame I didn't get to see the tigers because the area was under construction

As a visitor to NZ it was a good zoo when we went in 2006 - it's a great zoo now ... and when the current work is completed it will be a fantastic zoo.
A family attraction. Not a great zoo lover but this is more about conservation and the environment

It's good for a family adventures, very clean an the set up is very organize and informative. Staff are nice too and they have variety of animals to see. My family can visit this place all the time
Excellent. We spent the day there. As well as a leisure park.
It is a really big place. Make sure you get there early the animals tend to kick back in the afternoon heat.
Really enjoyed our visit. Work to extend and improve the zoo is in progress so it will soon be an even better experience.

started our day at the zoo with a lovely beautiful day with family and our kids we looked at lions elephants monkeys giraffs all sorts of animals has been a awsome day at the zoo the kids apsolutly loved it was a great day for my wife i the kids and family what a great day out thanks auckland zoo
Family price package was reasonable,l and atmosphere of the zoo felt like being in the outdoor but animal were limited eg only one seal, couldn't spot kiwi birds also would have been nice to have interactive or feeding activities for the kids such as feeding the ponies, goats, poultry, petting rabbits etc. Thank you.
Kids zone :) adults will enjoy once... lot more is there.
I love the zoo...there are lots construction sites there at the moment but still plenty to see. We did the Meerkat experience and absolutely loved it.
Love the zoo. Had a year pass when I lived there and visited at least once every couple of months. Wonderful to just walk around as different animals are out at different times. Perfect spot to make a day of it.
Amazing place to visit on weekends but it is good to visit motat and zoo together , just exited to visit zoo again after construction done to see more amazing animals like chimpanzees and tigers
Spent hours of great amusement there highly recommended, food is overly pricey there so take your own
Fantastic outing for the whole family,pack up a picnic lunch and enjoy the animals.
Took mother and uncle. Whole place was wheelchair accessible and lots happening. Good value for money

It was really a great visit my 5 year old was happy. It is clean and well organised. There were some sections that we're under construction, but overall you can have a great experience.
I have been to zoos in many countries and Auckland Zoo is one of the best. The enclosures are very good, visibility of the animals is pretty good generally and the welfare of the animals is taken very seriously. Facilities for visitors are pretty good, and the two behind the scenes tours I did were totally worth it.
Fun thing to do the first day of a North island tour. Very well done and interesting.
It's a beautiful zoo with lots of things to look at. We also enjoyed the separate BugLab exposition (that costed some extra money). Sadly there's some construction work going on in central areas making you walk long detours to reach other areas of the zoo.

This is one of the most fascinating journeys of my lifetime visiting the zoo and watching the zoo caretakers, who are the real hero's of this place. Be it cleaniness, serenity and the variety of animals, birds , mammels under one roof says it all about Newzealand govt. I have no words to express my deep regards and love for the fellas who are working day and night to serve the animal kingdom and ensuring safety of everybody including visitors by being utmost courteous, professional and respectful. Lots of development going on but still lots to see. Elephant House Restaurant looks awesome if a little pricey. Going to be so good when finished

Some areas could be better stocked. No tiger didn't see any otters or red panda some of the birds area seemed lacking of bird numbers or could be to much vegetation
No mention of the work taking place at time of entry which made for a less than pleasant experience.
Although they're currently in the process of renovating the Zoo, I did enyoy myself.
A wide range of different animals, including all the classics or must haves for a zoo (Zebra, giraffe, elephant and so) the elephant in particular, being a very good boy - good show.
