Very good hygiene, has a lot of space for animals and also for visitors. An amazing place, they have a kiwi bird and you can see it. Highly recommended to make small stops and eat a rich in the Paradores inside. There is also room for children to play and run

It's getting better. Will be good once they have finished all the construction zones and opened up all the enclosures. We went there on a school trip. One of the zoo keepers took us into the interactive learning area, where we got to watch videos, play games, and make some special snacks for the zoo animals. It was pretty cool.

The Auckland Zoo was really good the first time I went. We saw a lot of animals. The bird aviary bit was really good with birds flying over our heads. They had a bird show as well. We saw a lot of animals and the animals had decent (though it would be nice for them to have a bit more space for some) space compared to other zoos I have been to. There was a lot of construction going on this time so we weren't able to see as much. Also it did not flow as well as it did last time. Would like to go back go see the new changes they implement though!!!!

One of the best Zoo's I have been to. Animal's were active and did not seem distressed. The presentations by the handlers were interesting and you could really see their energy and focus on protecting and developing the animals. This is a zoo that doesn't present their animals as a show, this is a zoo that lets public view their animals, in a safe environment, while they are focusing on conservation.

I was dissapointed, I've been going to Auckland zoo off & on for 50yrs, it's got more expansive places for animals and a long way 2 walk, hardly any birds or animals, a lot of cages looked in repair or empty, they have a lot of volunteers & if not shy, they are very helpful, the best was the baby twin monkeys at feeding time. 7 of us went.

Was really dissappointed. Maybe because it was a hot day alot of the animals were not in view. I had my 2yr and 4yr grandsons and they were unable to see many animals at all. Not alot of shady seating either. Much preferred the Hamilton zoo.

It is quite expensive, but well worth it if you have young ones. The enclosures allow you to get quite close to the animals and they are landscaped well. It's surprisingly comprehensive, we never get through it all in a day.

Lovely facilities well maintained. Lots of volunteers to assist on one's visit. The cafe at the entrance has well priced delicious foods. The salads are very good and the rice cake topped with carrot puree and duck breast was amazing. We bought 1 salad, 1 bruschetta with feta and tomato , 2 rice patties with carrot puree and duck and 2 pots of English breakfast tea which cost a total of only $20! As I am a person with a disability, my carer was given free entry. The disability toilet is well appointed. This was a lovely trip and I was most impressed. My only suggestion is for the zoo team to review their policy with their courtesy mobility scooter. They have a number of wheelchairs for hire and one mobility scooter. We asked if I could use it on entering the zoo at 9am and were told it had been reserved by another person. On leaving the zoo at 1245 we noticed the scooter had not been used after all.

Awsome.

Great enclosures and food options. Would be a five if it was more affordable, there are more than enough visitors for this. You also need to get there at opening time or be prepard to find parking along way from the Zoo. Not enough parking by any means.

My kind of excellent day out. Meandering "around the world" -from Africa to South America and closer to home in Oz and S E Asia- the habitats are well designed and the creatures well cared for. Plenty of info is displayed and viewing opportunities have been well catered to. Great to be able to help conservation efforts by supporting the Zoo.

It was really nice. Their annual membership is really great if you have little kids that would love to see animals. Their schedule is pretty flexible so it is just let you enjoy as much as you want. It is clean and well organised. There were some sections that we're under construction, but overall you can have a great experience.

Always a great place to spend a relaxing day chilling with the animals! I've been to a lot of zoos around the world and rate Auckland's as one of the best. Looking forward to the new Asian enclosure

At a zoo, one can really feel if the animals are comfy or happy there. Auckland zoo animals are really relaxed and as usual, hard to be seen sometimes as in a lot of other zoos around the world. Landscaping and visitor experience can be improved for a more unique character. For instance taking some notes from Wellington zoo. Hopefully the new enclosures (large part of zoo is under renovation Nov 2019) will be value adding to create a more memorable visit.

Great place to take kids. They can see a variety of animals that seem to be well cared for, and have space to move around. Also a good chance to find out about some of the environmental work the zoo is involved in. A lot of interesting events here too.
