Very good hygiene, has a lot of space for animals and also for visitors. An amazing place, they have a kiwi bird and you can see it. Highly recommended to make small stops and eat a rich in the Paradores inside. There is also room for children to play and run
It's getting better. Will be good once they have finished all the construction zones and opened up all the enclosures. We went there on a school trip. One of the zoo keepers took us into the interactive learning area, where we got to watch videos, play games, and make some special snacks for the zoo animals. It was pretty cool.
I loved going to the Zoo. wish they can get done with their renovations.
Our Family loves Auckland Zoo. Great staff and are always happy to answer any questions you have about the animals
The Auckland Zoo was really good the first time I went. We saw a lot of animals. The bird aviary bit was really good with birds flying over our heads. They had a bird show as well. We saw a lot of animals and the animals had decent (though it would be nice for them to have a bit more space for some) space compared to other zoos I have been to. There was a lot of construction going on this time so we weren't able to see as much. Also it did not flow as well as it did last time. Would like to go back go see the new changes they implement though!!!!
Always a good place to take the family. Be good when the renovations are completed!
Nicely laid out lots of shade so the wee ones don't get burnt
Besides that cutie Kiwi, there is nothing I have not seen before as its quite a small zoo but I love it anyways. Wish they have a petting zoo but nope!!
Must visit for kids! You can spend an entire day here exploring animals and birds from all over the world.
One of the best Zoo's I have been to. Animal's were active and did not seem distressed. The presentations by the handlers were interesting and you could really see their energy and focus on protecting and developing the animals. This is a zoo that doesn't present their animals as a show, this is a zoo that lets public view their animals, in a safe environment, while they are focusing on conservation.
Very nice place, everything clean and well indicated. Of course, it is much better in the morning because there are several animals that are kept after 3:00 p.m.
Adults: $ 28NZ
two new enclosures have opened up the orangutan's & the howling monkeys, very cool enclosure's heaps of space for them to move around
the zoo is definitely getting better now. my little one is very enjoyed the trip
Peaceful place to visit, as you feel close to the nature surrounded by diverse animals.
Had an awesome time with family, a good fun day out!!
Amazing, cant wait for all the enclosures to be done. Will rerate a 5 star then I am sure
Friendly staff, animals in their habitat. Check out the new enclosure for orangutans too.
Because they care about the animals... great people and well laid out
Huge walls cannot cross though, but a lot of cute rabbits nearby
Was a lovely day but sad not to see the Orangatangs who are temporarily located in Christchurch till the new enclosures are finished end year hopefully
I was dissapointed, I've been going to Auckland zoo off & on for 50yrs, it's got more expansive places for animals and a long way 2 walk, hardly any birds or animals, a lot of cages looked in repair or empty, they have a lot of volunteers & if not shy, they are very helpful, the best was the baby twin monkeys at feeding time. 7 of us went.
The zoo is great! Easy to get around and the staff gave us an umbrella when it started raining. Red pandas were definitely a highlight.
basically a good zoo. but expected more from New Zealand
Zoos are usually fantastic and the Auckland zoo is no exception. Make sure to see the tuataras.
Was really dissappointed. Maybe because it was a hot day alot of the animals were not in view. I had my 2yr and 4yr grandsons and they were unable to see many animals at all. Not alot of shady seating either. Much preferred the Hamilton zoo.
It is quite expensive, but well worth it if you have young ones. The enclosures allow you to get quite close to the animals and they are landscaped well. It's surprisingly comprehensive, we never get through it all in a day.
Gets better every visit , construction happening right now , but did not detract from the visit.
Continues to improve over the years. Nice displays and happy animals
Good place for family outings. Has something for most age groups. Food is expensive to buy on site but you can bring your own
Lovely facilities well maintained. Lots of volunteers to assist on one's visit. The cafe at the entrance has well priced delicious foods. The salads are very good and the rice cake topped with carrot puree and duck breast was amazing. We bought 1 salad, 1 bruschetta with feta and tomato , 2 rice patties with carrot puree and duck and 2 pots of English breakfast tea which cost a total of only $20! As I am a person with a disability, my carer was given free entry. The disability toilet is well appointed. This was a lovely trip and I was most impressed. My only suggestion is for the zoo team to review their policy with their courtesy mobility scooter. They have a number of wheelchairs for hire and one mobility scooter. We asked if I could use it on entering the zoo at 9am and were told it had been reserved by another person. On leaving the zoo at 1245 we noticed the scooter had not been used after all.
Always interesting, the keepers are awesome and always ready for the questions from the kids.
Always making improvements & genuinely care about our animals - love it!
Alot was closed and cafe at entrance didnt have alot.
Great place for family...lots to see and do...terrific
Great enclosures and food options. Would be a five if it was more affordable, there are more than enough visitors for this. You also need to get there at opening time or be prepard to find parking along way from the Zoo. Not enough parking by any means.
Great fun, awesome animal enclosures & Bug Lab was just astounding.!
Great place. Love this zoo. Nice outing for family and kids.
Beautiful place. Variety of animals, bugs and critters. Give it 3 to 4 hours. Kid friendly. Wheelchair accessible. Friendly people.
Saw so many animals at such a reasonable price. Loved it
Wot an awesome day there. Fulll on full throttle. We seen everything there. It took 6hrs. Well worth the money . An precious time with my son over the Easter break.
My kind of excellent day out. Meandering "around the world" -from Africa to South America and closer to home in Oz and S E Asia- the habitats are well designed and the creatures well cared for. Plenty of info is displayed and viewing opportunities have been well catered to. Great to be able to help conservation efforts by supporting the Zoo.
Well cared for animals, a spacious and friendly place. The first zoo that really likes
Nice place to visit, though some part of it is still under construction.
Great privilege to be able to see these amazing animals.
It was really nice. Their annual membership is really great if you have little kids that would love to see animals. Their schedule is pretty flexible so it is just let you enjoy as much as you want. It is clean and well organised. There were some sections that we're under construction, but overall you can have a great experience.
The Zoo is always a great place to go to, currently under construction, but the staff are helpful and shows are not to be missed.
Always a great place to spend a relaxing day chilling with the animals! I've been to a lot of zoos around the world and rate Auckland's as one of the best. Looking forward to the new Asian enclosure
Ok . Most animals are board and not much of show to us
Fantastic day , great place to go with the family, will definitely go back again and again, we loved it, high five Auckland zoo, thanks for the great memories
Amazing animals and representation of culture.
The animals are well cared for in a safe and warm environment.
Going to be awesome when it's finished! Had an great day
Not so big but well made. A lot of fun and really interesting especially for kids.
Is a lovely zoo. Good one way systems because of covid. Great fun for the family. A point off due to construction noise but will be super impressive when completed.
Love the new upgraded areas. Sad we missed so much due to the renovation
Nice place for a family hangout...very helpful and friendly staff...carry your own food n water if u wanna save up some cash...overall good experience..
Really good for a day out with kids. It was vast and could not cover all in one day. Some of them were closed.
At a zoo, one can really feel if the animals are comfy or happy there. Auckland zoo animals are really relaxed and as usual, hard to be seen sometimes as in a lot of other zoos around the world. Landscaping and visitor experience can be improved for a more unique character. For instance taking some notes from Wellington zoo. Hopefully the new enclosures (large part of zoo is under renovation Nov 2019) will be value adding to create a more memorable visit.
A fantastic way to spend the day and way bigger than I thought it would be. Make sure to stop at the animal hospital and read about all the amazing work they do there!
Great place to take kids. They can see a variety of animals that seem to be well cared for, and have space to move around. Also a good chance to find out about some of the environmental work the zoo is involved in. A lot of interesting events here too.
