It has changed a lot since we last went half the animals either not there any more or moved around I felt like we were seeing more of a forest, trees n bird setting not a zoo, the main highlight was the elephants n the lions, tigers n turtles. Apart from that food high priced for the smallest item as it is at these places.
Great day. Will be good when all the work is finished .
Zoo was great... getting a park in the afternoon... Not so much
I haven't been to the zoo in maybe 15 years, but what a great place! There's a lot of upgrade work going on right now, but still plenty to see & it'll be fantastic once it's all finished.
Could probably use more parking out front, but otherwise a great family day out.
Good place to spend a day with kids. Well managed facility and numerous animals
Great experience although food very bland and expensive.
Awesome place am definitely going to be a regular visitor there. One star less only because I wanted to see tiger but they were not there anymore. Waiting for tigers to be back again!
Very respectful of animals needs and well being as well as nature
It ain't no Taronga, but for what it is, I enjoyed the experience. The varying environments showcased i.e. the rainforest, country highland and desert safari were fascinating. Small, but good things come in small packages.
Cool place for everybody . Go early for parking. Great photography. Healthy, happy animals. At present you have to do one side and walk back to do the other side as they are doing changes to their layout. Take a picnic or buy within for lunch.
What's not to like, A zoo that's all about the well being of animals. Always being improved and updated to a modern standard. Generally spend about 4 hours here.
Child-friendly zoo!
A lot of animals can be seen in Auckland Zoo, although there was a closed section during our visit. However, this may seem small when compared to zoos in other countries.
Amazing place even better when building work completed ,great day out for everyone
Fantastic zoo, always loved coming here as a child and coming as an adult was just as good
Lovely place, great exhibits, bunch of volunteers happy to answer questions just overal a real good experience.
Auckland Zoo is really good. The enclosures are getting better every time I go. Great facilities, and friendly staff. Mid-2019 there is new construction taking place, but it doesn't detract from your experience.
Even with the remodeling work going on it was a great afternoon out for everyone. Although there could be a few extra vending machines scattered around the show for drinks.
Its currently under construction just a little, so go in expecting that and you'll have a great time
Great enclosures. Lots to keep the kids interested. Today was a bit hot so we were quite tired at the end. Spent about 45minutes lounging on the bean bags in the shade, much needed. Food is very expensive for families but your able to take your own, so prepared snacks is recommended. Lots of water stations around to top up bottles. Phone ahead and book strollers as they're in hot demand. Made some beautiful memories today, thanks so much. Love that the dragon is still here....an icon. 3 generations of us have had photos with him now. Amazing. Thanks Auckland zoo!
Will be amazing once all the building works are completed.
Will be amazing when the renovations are completed.
It's a very good plan! Be patient, they are under construction in some parts, but apart from that it was good experience.
Amazing zoo!!! Great range of animals and easy to find your way around
Personally i love to visit western springs next to the zoo. It's good place to take a rest and go for a walk.
Beautiful zoo that is well worth the money. Friendly staff and great exhibits!!
I love the zoo, a lot of interesting animals and a fun time.
A lovely oasis in the city. A great day out and your money helps to conserve endangered species the world over.
Great 3/4 of a day adventure. Zoo staff are all amazing- please give yourself all a pat on the back. Toilets clean and modern. And plenty of them too! From infant to grandparents and all ages in between. Be prepared for an amazing outing!
The atmosphere is great. You walk beneath trees all the time, plenty of shade. They have a lot of different animals that all look very well cared for. Staff is very friendly and the toilets (there are many) are very clean.
Beautiful, well-kept and well-run place. Weather was great which contributed to the experience. Lots of writeups which emphasizes the reality of environmental damage and the very real need to be doing things for conservation, be it great or small. Food prices can be steep but I took it as playing my very small part in the upkeep of the zoo, helping the animals and the people who run it going. Would love to return someday.
Zoo is under construction at the moment. But still didn't stop us from having an amazing day out. We went for my sons first birthday , although there was no parking we managed to park around the corner and found a shortcut witch was good. Managed to get to see the bug lab before it finished how cool was that very well done!! A lot of the animals looked bored but good to see they are well looked after. Overall great day out with the family my little man will sleep well tonight!!
The place is lovely. Much preserved nature and a great care with the safety of the animals in the visitors' access to the environments. There is great concern for the welfare of animals and for the preservation of species, including plants, a strong feature in NZ. Very well signed and always with information about the specimens in focus. It has a modern veterinary hospital. Large play area for children. Spread drinking fountains. A feeding area with tables and umbrellas. Volunteers (absolute majority of the elderly) are scattered and attentive for guidance to anyone who needs or a good conversation is also under renovation and promises good surprises.
Awesome for familys so fun for the kids, many animals to see... fun for all tickets were good price
Saw lots of animals. Even the ones we normally cant find. Kids had a blast
Good but for the price there not much changes or no more animals like other countries zoos like Singapore zoo and night safari was amazing. They can introduce these services. Also food options and prices are not great in zoo.
Thanks
Sachin
Amazing zoo and conservation center! We spent almost 5 hours to see all the animal enclosures. Amazing! Hope there would be tours provided in the future
The way they hv preserved wild life is mind blowing. It was a good a 6 hour tour and we had the best time with kids! Extremely well maintained.
Great place to spend a couple of hours or a whole day
This is a wonderful zoo and I was pleasantly surprised by its size. The animals have lots of space. We spent 2.5 hours and didn't see everything so bring some time. I'll definitely come again!
Not the biggest zoo but that makes it easier to get around. Nice for an afternoon with the kids. 3 to 5 hours tops.
You can see that they really care for not just the customers but also for the animals (look for the new Meerkat compound e.g.) too.
And they are on the way to a modern and interesting part of Auckland's sights, including the Bug Lab and the Te Wao Nui (New Zealand).
Bring your own picnic or, if you don't mind paying little over average prices, enjoy several food choices throughout the park.
The ticket prices are quite reasonable considering Auckland Zoo is run by a non profit organization.
Lots of construction going on inside right now. Not the nicest that it's been, but still a pretty good place to spend the day with the kids.
Over cooked fish ok fries but the service was so slow. Ordered fish bites, chips and a coffee. Took them 38min to bring out all items. It wasn't super busy either. I could see orders were not fulfilled in sequential order.
So nice place. Huge territory.
Cute animals
There have been recent renovations which has made this place better
Wow what a well run organization. All our tamariki had the most awesome learning experience. Lots of info, practical activity, humour and fun as well as being able to just go and explore this fabulous environment. Thanks
Decent zoo , However it would benefit from more interactive activities and acts
So many different types of animals and so many new experiences
Some areas were still under renovation, and we weren't able to see some of the animals that were supposed to be in their enclosures. But otherwise it was an enjoyable day out for us.
The collections area was a muddle. People were in queue for an hour to collect passes or to hire sold out strollers.
Most of the big animals seemed really far away, not visible or not there at all.
Guy from the UK - Great zoo, one of the best I've been to
Big place. Although the lion is very hard to spot, along with one of the tiger species and the white rhino, it is a good experience.
Nice oo to visit with the kids. Not much for food offering though when hungry.
Wonderful place! Many different species wait you in this beautiful place! Very polite staff. So much to see! For pairs, I recommend atleast 3 hours. With children 4 atleast. Much to see here. And beautiful nature of New Zealand will definately make an impact in you! If you visit Auckland, this is place to visit if you like animals or nature even a little!
Sorry but don't believe this is good value for money..most exhibits either asleep somewhere you can see them or not there at all.
We chose the zoo over butterfly creek, if I could turn back time.
I'm sure the new enclosure will be great when completed
Nicely mapped and walking path. Visiting it is beyond expectations. The price of photos they take at the beginning should have separate price for locals. We end up paying for the same amount that tourists do.
Completed intermediate photography course. Well worth it.
Eventhough there is a lot of constuction going on, this Zoo has a nice layout and interesting creatures of all sorts. I visited with 2 grandchildren, aged 5 and 9 and we all loved it. If I lived in Auckland I would definitely get a year pass and visit regulary. Looking forward to the new area, looks exciting
Love that it has a hospital and it breeds endangered animals and insects to release back into the wild.
A great place to experience and be inspired for conservation of beautiful native and exotic animals.
Nice recreation place with friends and family, some animals are not showing, probably because the weather at time I visit was raining. So we almost spent whole day at the park cause the weather, some area are under construction so there are animals missing. Good experiences and fun if you really want to join the zoo keepers talk with the animals.
So much chaos with new enclosures been made, a lot of animals unavailable to view, animals look a bit miserable.
Fantastic for adults and kids. Make sure you give yourself at least two hours, as their is plenty to see and do.
Great place but they were doing heaps of renovations and the kids centre was rubbish
