Clean, convenient location, friendly staff, nice restaurant

The place to stay at hampton beach. Good dining. Live music. Nice accommodations.

The room and bed were comfortable. The bathroom was huge. The coffee machine was a disappointment. It was plugged into a bad wall jack. They only provided one regular coffee and one decafe.

Our stay at Ashworth by the Sea hotel was no where as nice as we were hoping. On our last day staying there, a power outage occurred around 10:00 am and practically forced us to leave because of how dark and lousy it was. Nothing was done More

The location of the hotel is situated perfectly on the beach. While I did not stay at the hotel, the restaurant had a beautiful view of the ocean and nice seating options. The food was pretty good, and service was helpful.

The rooms where the size of a closet compared to most hotel rooms, when they valeted my car they parked across the street left it unlocked.

Okay, now I was out of state looking for elegant restaurant at the beach for lunch.
Ashworth overlooks the ocean. Food expensive for the amount you get. Elegance is often affordable at lunch time. I can't tell you what I paid, it was in September.

And to make matters worse, they changed their decor from years ago from elegant to pub look. A loud drunk at the bar, which is now right in the dining area, made my hoped for quiet lunch, uncomfortable. A wedding was going on in one of the function rooms
I was told.

They use to have a separate area for the bar. I had been hoping for the elegance of yesteryear, tablecloths, fanned dinner napkin, cut glass gleaming in the bright ocean
sunlight and quiet soft music. What a disappointment.

The service was slow. Why such a long wait when only three tables of diners?
Go if you've got plenty of cash and time and don't mind taking a chance at someone
bragging loudly at the bar.

Great location. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

The food tasted like it was cooked yesterday, the hollendese sauce had 0 taste and was watery, manager did take one meal off but was too busy to speak to us.

Unfortunately, this experience was sub-par, to say the least. We have stayed numerous times, but this one time solidified my decision to never go back. Being off season, and slow, you would think that customer service and cleanlinesswould be at it's highest level. I made our reservation for two nights through a third party site, and also inquired via email about dinner reservations...it was our anniversary after all. NEVER received a call to confirm the dinner reservations (which the email stated we would as our confirmation), nor did the restaurant even look open. We arrived and noticed the construction next door and asked if there were any room upgrades available. Who wants to be woken up by construction equipment? "L" had told us that there were no rooms available as they were short handed with housekeeping. So, we weren't sure what that meant, but okay, and we took our room. We figured we'd go by the pool for a bit to unwind, and there was NO WAY, I was even putting one toe in to that pool. DISGUSTING!!! The water looked like jelly and the color was indescribable. By 6:30 am, you could hear the construction crew and their equipment and cranes working. UGH! We decided that we would leave that morning, one day early. As we were checking out, we informed "J" the reasoning behind our early departure, and he offered us another room. We were perplexed as we were informed the night before that there weren't any other rooms available. Trust me when I say, there wasn't any foot traffic at the hotel, so I am confident there were rooms available the night before and "L" just didn't want to change the reservations. We were packed an ready to go, so we declined and asked for a refund. "J" had said he could not refund us as our reservation was through a third party and that he would have to contact them directly to see how to refund us. We got to our car, and I didn't quite believe him, so I contacted the third party myself, explained the situation, was put on hold as they had to contact Ashworth. The rep came back to my call and said that "J" had offered us another room and that he had to speak to the individual that checked us in the night before. Well, that's not what he told us. Albeit, he offered another room, but "L" should have done that the night before, the pool should have been usable and the restaurant should have confirmed our reservations. We went back in to the hotel to confront "J" as we felt that we were lied to. He had a pompous, I don't care attitude, which frustrated us. Needless to say, words were exchanged. Don't tell us that you are going to do one thing then do another. It's wasn't so much about getting a refund, but that lack of concern and the lying.

We were there fir a function.. And did not spend the night. But the staff was great. Food was very good.

Very nice location and service. It was really cold in the room.

Service was excellent, the bar was good and the room was good too -- only problem was that the hot water took forever to heat up in the sink.

First, the good. The room was clean. Prices for off season were good. Location was excellent. The pool was clean. Some of the staff were very friendly.
The bad. Our room was arbitrarily given to someone else because we booked via Priceline, and they other folks paid full price. We were not refunded any amount or given any other consideration, just a room downgrade. While the room was clean we could literally hear every word spoken in the room next to ours. We had a partial view of the ocean, if we climbed out on the balcony and leaned far over. Things are dated, some of the edges are starting to fray on many things, one particular front desk staff member was snarky, parking was difficult or confusing unless you chose the valet parking, in which case you are told to allow 30 minutes for them to retrieve your car. There are better places to stay.

Hotel was a bit small, still quite nice with a mini fridge, large bathroom, very clean and service is very accommodating. Free valet service was awesome as well. I'd stay there again, but ask for ocean front instead of ocean view

Always the best place on the beach.retired now hotel and restaurant little out of my price range,miss it.

Loved this property! Good location and short walk to all the shops and activities. Nice spacious room with balcony and spectacular oceanview. The room and bathroom were spotless. I would definitely stay here again!

amazing location. clean and friendly hotel and staff. About a block to the left of the boardwalk so it s nice and quiet at night.

the hotel is fantastic, great location. Valet parking is useful. Rooms beautiful. the heated pool is a bonus. The brunch though was a disappointment for the price you pay.

Worst bed that squeeked with the most smallest movement, filty windows, dust on furniture, could hear every movement on the floor above, no shampoo or conditioner (make sure you bring your own). The only positive thing i can say is the staff is very nice and accomadating and the view. Classic hotel that is in serious need of updating...at least new mattresses and base. Dissapointing.

Room was very small , card key would not work. Avery nice women helped me and even the housekeeper said she had trouble getting into my room. First they told me totally booked but she switched my room. Great I thought, nicer room card key worked great. Very glad. I left my iPad there today was told wasnot in lost and found after I drove two hundred miles home. Asked the vale parking if could leave car, he was sure ten dollars. Got charged 50 dollars yesterday , tipped the vale guy20at three o'clock today. Checked my bank statement charged me another 35 dollars no explanation and no I Pad . Very upset my iPad is sinc to my phone and it was stolen by an employee. They never told me why they charged me noteven when I changed rooms got a cot for my son, sign said 10 bucks valet said ten bucks was charged an extr 35 dollarswith no explanation great time

Great Oceanside hotel. Priced at mid-range, has two returants, indoor pool, friendly staff, and valet parking.

Probably the worst I have had their in years. I got a Prime Rib and requested the end cut. I couldn't eat it, was very well done. The Clam Chowder didnt taste like clam chowder. If you put a blind fold on and took a taste you wouldnt have guessed it was clam chowder. The dining experience has hit a all time low. Really too bad I used to like the Ashworth.

Great place to stay, ocean front. Very nice staff, valet parking. Restaurant on premises. Room was clean, bed very comfortable, everything you need. Highly recommend!

I was excited to stay at Ashworth, it was my second time at Hampton beach. I was disappointed. Only 1 outlet in the room worked.. The decor of this place was outdated. It was just OK. Wouldn't be my first place to go back.

Only stopped by to register for the penguin plunge but staff were helpful in directing me to where I need to go

Beautiful room, nice view of the ocean from balcony. Had a lounge and cafe attached to get dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff. Everything was clean in the room and hotel itself. Great bedding. Recommend.

We stayed in a king size ocean view room.
Pros: Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Valet service and parking for a fee. Ocean view rooms. Shower was very nice and big. 2 sinks in the bathroom. Big television.
Cons: Toilet was dirty inside, on arrival. Live band on a patio right outside our window until 8-9pm. Room had no microwave. Limited A/C cooling. Coffee up and downstairs was bitter. "Balcony" was very small and to the side of our room.
So our stay here wasn't terrible but there was a lot that could have gone better. We were not forewarned about the band outside our room (literally). The balcony was only large enough for 2 plastic chairs and we couldn't sit out there anyway with the band playing. Our toilet was not cleaned properly upon our arrival and I won't gross you out with the details. The room was ok but not worth $500/night. The A/C only went down to 68 degrees even though the setting went down to 60. It would have been nice if there was a microwave in the room (there was a Keurig). The restaurant downstairs (Breakers) got our meal wrong but they did take it off the bill. The Lobster shell was tough and the lobster, small for $35.
We enjoyed the beach! The valet guys were top notch; down to earth, professional and friendly! The people at the desk were also nice.
Would we stay here again? Only if they gave us the best room they had, it was spic and span clean instead of a lick and a promise and everything worked the way it was supposed to. We could also do without the band and the side "balcony". And try including what you tend to exclude in your advertising. You'll get better reviews.

Nice deck, good view, decent drink selection. Terrible food menu, had to go somewhere else to find something to eat.

Service of staff was exemplary, arrived late with a bus group. Restaurant was closed, nothing open close. Night manager arranged some food for me. Very personal touch. Would be one of the reasons I would return on my own with my family. Customer service is essential to word of mouth!

My experience at the Ashworth by the Sea was perfect. Besides the location and room being beautiful. The staff is so exceptionally kind and thoughtful. Kara the front desk receptionist checked me in early and after I told her I was had a bad headache she delivered to my room a selection of teas, hot kettle of water and condiments. It was so extremely thoughtful and in all the hundreds of times I have stayed in hotels all around the world, never have I had such a fantastic experience.

Save your money! For a place that stresses no cancellations, they should start allowing them. Upon arriving on the first day, we already had issues with the room. There was a lipstick stain on one of the mirrors, two of the towels provided to us were shredded on both ends and the bed I was planning on sleeping on did not have a fitted sheet, just a ratty mattress topper, a flat sheet, and a comforter. Calling front desk is always busy so I had to go downstairs. Note that I had to go downstairs several times on this trip. They provided new towels and remade the bed, great. But wait, there's more! Breakers, the attached restaurant, was the worst! For an empty place they weren't sure where to sit my friend and I and the food was lackluster. The waitress we had charged us twice but for different bills, but did not tell us this after bringing us the receipts. We had to find out after the fact when we questioned her why we were both charged 2 different amounts. She stated she brought up the wrong check and swiped our cards but that she corrected the error. Now I had to wait 3 days for it to fall off of my account. From Friday night till the time we left Monday morning our garbage was not thrown out and our beds were not made even though there wasn't a DND sign on the door. We had to in turn use the bathroom garbage. We also were not given a refill of soap either. The 2 chairs on the balcony were not cleaned off. the lamp on the desk was broken, there wasn't a Showtime channel as stated on the list of stations, we were only given water 2x during our stay. Also, keep in mind that the walls are so thin you can not only hear your neighbors conversations, but also hear them use the bathroom and flush! Imagine hearing a stream of urine and then a loud flush at 1am. I think remodeling of the rooms are in order.

There seemed to be an issue when we wanted to rent 2 beach chairs. The lady at the front desk seemed like she did not want to give them to us and oddly enough, they don't provide you with beach towels. Speaking of providing you with stuff, they seem reluctant to provide you with a receipt after paying the resort fee when you arrive. I figured I'll ask again when I checked out but was met with confusion and told that an email was sent stating my balance was $0. I never got such email so it's a good thing I reiterated to the clerk that I needed a receipt. The only good thing about this place is it's location to the beach and the Wharfside Cafe for breakfast because Dusty, our waitress of 2 days, was freaking awesome! Other than that, don't waste your money folks. Not worth it especially if you can't cancel.

Our stay was very nice. The walls are a little thin so it can get noisy but the view of the ocean was worth it all. Great location. We picked an Oceanview room instead of oceanfront and we were able to have a very nice view from the room, no complaints at all there. The only downside is that there is required valet parking with an 18 dollar a day fee plus tips if you are courteous. Overall a good experience.

Only went for a social event. But the hotel was nice and the staff was very nice and friendly.

Great place for food and drinks. They have a dance floor and DJ on the weekends! Awesome views from the deck in the summer. Love coming here for a stop along the way to or from Hampton Beach strip. Stop in and enjoy!

Location, location, location. That's the key to real estate and hotels. Very pricey for what you get, but the location is awesome.

staff is very friendly. I was there for dining. The food is good, too bad the deck doesn't serve the same menu as the restaurant.

Throughout the entire process we were able to reach Elaine if we needed anything, it was a great experience up until the day of the wedding.

Our guest arrived and everything looked beautiful, however when we actually looked, I noticed several of my decorations and extras I brought were stashed under the table and no one put it out (didnt realize till almost the end of the reception).

We were told after the ceremony they would usher guest to cocktail hour in a separate room, however no one told guest where to go and they just lingered everywhere after the ceremony. Some guest had no idea where the other guest went.

When it was time for the introduction after cocktail hour, they were supposed to usher guest back to the ballroom for the receptions, same situations.. guest had no idea where to go or what was going on next. What should have been a smooth process turned into a hectic mess.

Once we finally got all guest in the reception, we were an hour behind our scheduled timeline for the events (ex: first dance, father daughter dance, cake cutting... etc) we had to skip over things orginally planned.
We also had 2 gifts go missing.

The food is not as good as the taste testing when its mass produced for 120 guest, our boneless chicken breast had a lot of bones, and our salad was wrong (we asked to serve our guest spring salad and received cesear).

The hotel is very loud, if staying overnight you can hear guest flush toilets and cough. I could hear the conversation in the strangers room next to mine.

The pastries were amazing.
The ballroom is beautiful.
The hotel discounts rooms for your guest if you have a wedding there is $20 off per room (As long as they book within certain dates).

If I had to do it all over again I would probably just have my own party coordinator to make sure it all ran smooth. The sales manager is sweet and very open with communication but when it came down to the actual wedding day it was very unorganized

The experience was great, kinda spoiled, couldn't get an ocean view room and felt a little cramped in the room we got. Room was nice, just small.

This hotel was awful. The tv didn't work the lights were coveted in dust. When we had an issue the people working didn't really do much. The bed gave us rashes.

Clean but average...great location! Decent indoor pool...good breakfast food in the Wharfside Cafe, didn't go in the main restaurant/lounge so I can't speak to that. Every staff member we encountered was extremely nice.

Room was big enough and bed was comfortable. There were stains on the ceiling from water damage however. People were friendly and the bar was big enough that even a larger crowd fit.

This was waaaay overpriced. Our balcony faced a construction site. People next door were banging on the walls all night. Our shower was dirty and we found a used bar of soap left behind. The pool area is not open many hours and it doesn't appear very clean. I wasn't impressed with the staff at all either. They pretty much just look right through you when you come to talk to them and or act as though you're bothering them. The valet guys were the nicest of all the employees here (total sweethearts) For the money i paid i could've got more for less at a holiday inn, i definitely was expecting far better than this. Just because its on the ocean still didn't make this worth it for me and my kids. Im very disappointed i wasted so much money here. Not worth it for a struggling single parent. I wont be coming back.

My family stayed here when we moved to Hampton NH until the movers were completed with unpacking the moving vans. The best hotel in Hampton. We visited Breakers Resturant in the hotel and still comeback all of the time. The food is great and the oysters are the freshest we have found in the area..

Nice old place with great views, knowledgeable wait staff, and a place you can relax.

I was only at the Ashworth briefly for an event check-in, but it was a very clean venue with a friendly staff!

Excellent location of the hotel! With the windows open you can hear the surf. But it strongly stinks burned-out oil from the air extract from the restaurant if the windows overlook the hotel s swimming pool. In the morning, the beautiful scenery of the sun waking up over the ocean!

Went for the weekend with my mother. Very comfortable accommodations, and you can't beat the walk to the beach!

Spent New Year's Eve (2016) and will not return again.! Band was lackluster. Food was awful : beef filet was so overcooked (at $140/person). Staff pleasant but at times, non existent. Our party of 8 moved to adjacent lounge to enjoy the DJ, where we'll spend next year's celebration, for a fraction of the cost. Last year's event here was superb.

OMG for the money it's not worth it..not clean room had stained on bed .the food was not five star hotel .. staff was great lol.thats the only plus..I was dispionted....

Been coming here for thirty years and still the best all around. Beautiful and clean and service is the best!!!!

For lodging in Hampton Beach New Hampshire, Ashworth by the Sea is the very best choice as long as you get a balcony room :)

Great food, nice rooms, dancing on weekends. Right across from the beach.

We had a room and we drove from MA to NH to come stay at this hotel, which was our preferred hotel out of all in the area. We finally arrived and were told we no longer has our reservation and that it was supposedly canceled (which it was not), and the concierge at front desk Rob was very rude and was telling us to calm down and was interrupting our every word, and didn't even try to be helpful he just tried to get us to pay more money for a room we only needed for one night. The only understanding we received was from a nice guy, Bobby, who provided us with valet parking!!

Rooms not clean. Restaurant food bad. Prepaid services not provided.

Everything was fine except the valet parking, we woke up and had to walk to our car cause there was no morning valet.
