Arcadia Energy Review

I love Arcadia; my electric bill is going down, in part because they work with Public Power. And they make it easy to pay a bill that didn t increase for using their service and switching to over 50% renewable energy!

Aradia Power is an amazing service provider of wind and solar energy, with cool dasboards to track energy usage and tips to save eneygy. They are doing every bit to literally saving the planet !!

I m so happy to have clean energy in my home- I feel like I m part of the solution and not the problem ! It s a market driven economy band we are the market! Let s choose sustainability and a cleaner environment! I love Arcadia Power!

Very satisfied knowing 100% of my home electric usage is from clean sourced wind! My bill has stayed the same as when I was with ComED-super pleased!

Love helping the earth out in any way I can, and Arcadia really does an amazing job to make it super simple, haven t had a single issue.

We've been trying to cancel for atleast 6 months and no one knows how to do that. They told us we were cancelled and settled 2 payments ago. I just want to go back to my previous provider without all the confusing billing and have more notice of what's due before it's taken out of my account (Arcadia gives you about 2-4 days notice).

Multiple emails and phone calls and I'm still stuck with getting billed. This is exhausting.

I'm thrilled to get half my power from wind, and I'm delighted to learn about all the trees you're planting. Thank you.

Using Arcadia is a win on all fronts. You feel good about where your energy is sourced from, you receive clearer communications about your energy bill and usage, it didn't seem to raise my bill at all (if anything it went down), they provide a beautiful dashboard to see your energy usage over time, and they have one click/tap sign in to your account once you have one.

I really can't think of any downsides and I've been using them for 2 years. I would recommend Arcadia to anyone I know.

So far I like it! Costs alittle more. Don't completely understand why they no longer do green-e certifies anymore.

Clean energy had always been important to me and I like being billed for the exact amount USED each month instead of the yoyo billing from RGE.

I've been using this service to create 100% green energy pottery in my electric kilns for a year now. Works great and feels great to be creating a market that will pave the road to a renewable energy future.

Arcadia Power does not make it clear that their FREE or PREMIUM accounts do NOT save you any money on your current electric bill. With their "FREE" program, you still have to pay your entire regular electric bill with NO discount, in essence subsidizing Arcadia Power. The "Premium" account means that you pay a minimum of $5 extra on top of your regular bill PLUS an extra 1.5 cents on what you are already paying. If your total kilowatt-hrs are less than 330 total, you won't pay the 1.5 extra cents per kilowatt-hour, but you still pay them the $5 minimum on top of your regular electric bill. Their website is misleading because it does not indicate that there is absolutely no savings and, in fact, will COST you MORE if you get a "premium" account.

easy to switch from your power company to Arcadia Power. just go online and do it. no one comes to your house and there are no connections or windmills or solar to be installled. your old bill is automatically paid by Arcadia.
I did it to help the environment and begin to get off of big oil. they plant trees and have a cool website. you can even buy remote solar panels. I like that all my electricity comes from wind turbine and everything was done online.

I truly recommend Arcadia as this has been a very very hot summer lately. I needed some relief from high bills and they have provided that for me. Plus, anytime I ask questions, they are very quick to respond! Highly recommend them.

Please do your research before signing up with these people. My electric bill has been running abou $160. My husband switched us without my knowledge and all of a sudden they are scamming us for $522. Plus I am still getting my regular electric bills. They disconnect me when I try and call and refuse to answer my emails. Totally worthless outfit.

This company is a scam and has no connection to any source of energy. it is a third party payer, charging you fees to pay your energy bills. you will receive NO discounts and they produce NO ENERGY.

Arcadia makes it easy and affordable to go green - the process is simple, the customer service is responsive, and the baseline is 50% clean energy; for $5-10 extra a month you can go 100% wind-powered energy if you choose. I love the graphs and breakdowns within the account of my power v. the average user's power in my area - it's easy to see and analyze the impact I'm having. Plus I get that special warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from reducing my carbon footprint. 14/10 would highly recommend.

I got a flyer in the mail. I called and was told that it was a saving program and no catch to it. They failed to tell me that I would have to give them my bank account or credit card so they could pay my bill. I can pay my own bill. Thank you very much. Misleading advertisment

Very happy we shifted to Arcadia windpower electric. No on site changes, no special wiring concerns, no worries. All you are changing is who provides the power (wind rather than fossil fuels). Have found our bills dropped and we are happy. Only inconvenience at first was the continual emails wanting us to refer others. Now that those have decreased (almost stopped) we are great with Arcadia!

Received an Arcadia advertisement postcard claiming they would help me get 100% of my electricity from Baltimore Gas and Electric delivered from wind and local solar farms and "bring more solar to Maryland". Claimed it doesn't cost more - actually save a little, would be the same BG&E service, offering $75 credit if I enrolled by 30 Nov 2020, and I could cancel anytime without fees or commitments.

It wasn't clear to me how Arcadia would make a profit. I was skeptical and did some research. The many unresolved complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau told me enough. I'm sure many state AG offices have many others in their records. Common complaints included:
1) shell game - obfuscation of once clear costs from prior utilities.
2) increased actual costs
3) changing of your previous online utility user & password and redirecting your utility bills to their address/email.
4) keeping 95% of your refunds/credits unless you unenroll the "premium" option
5) requiring months to cancel.
6) requiring users to establish automatic bill pay - takes the power out of your hands once money leaves your account
7) short email notices of upcoming bills (e.g., we will withdraw this amount in 3 days).
8) improperly billed amounts - sometimes in the thousands of dollars
9) prior utility companies refusing to support or address concerns once you switch over to Arcadia

This company seems to prey on consumer's good will to keeping a clean environment. You shouldn't have to let someone hijack your utility account to reduce pollution. Makes you wonder if this is another Enron in the making.

Terrible customer service. No one ever answers the phone, no one returns messages left... it s unreal. I ve been trying to get ahold of someone for 28 days. Multiple messages left. None returned. And this is all to correct an error that THEY made, which almost caused power to be shut off at my location. I m giving them two stars simply for the green energy they say they provide. Otherwise it would be less than 1. Customer service is everything.

EDIT for response: I DID email customer care, billing, AND membership departments. I received NO response from any of them for days. I submitted help request through the website. No response. Called for three days straight until someone picked up the phone at your office. It took over four weeks to get this resolved.

You had made late payments to my utilities month after month, and my power was almost shut down because of this stupid yet avoidable error. I paid the bill myself, blocked Arcadia's access from my account, and when I FINALLY was able to speak to someone about these issues MORE THAN FOUR WEEKS LATER I was able to close out my account. Sorry guys, I don't care what planet you're saving with green energy. If it's going to cut power to my house month after month then I want no part of it. It's absurd.

I love using Arcadia! It makes me feel better about the energy I use, and the website lets me compare my usage to the Arcadia average to see where I stand. It is much easier to use for paying my energy bill than working directly with the energy company. I highly recommend using.

Arcadia is simple to start and 1000% worth it s! Once your set up you just sit back relax and it takes care of itself! This is no reason not to do it! And it saves me money every month!

The program they offer, where you can have half of your energy come from renewables at no cost to you, is wonderful. The website is friendly and present your power usage in a way that is easily digestible. I have recommended to friends and family before and will continue.

Arcadia has deliverd on exactly what it offered -- the same energy delivery I'm accustomed to at a lower price. In addition, the energy is coming from more ecologically friendly sources. I recommend trying Arcadia!

Arcadia Power makes it really easy to reduce your carbon footprint. I used the free plan for about a year before switching to the paid plan, which basically converts your electric bill to fully sustainable for fractions of a penny on the dollar.

Awesome way to supplement green energy into your house.

I've really enjoyed my experience with Arcadia Power for the last year and a half. I simply pay an extra $5-$10 a month on top of my regular power bill which to me is a donation to a good cause. I think some people here are misunderstanding exactly how Arcadia and similar companies work. Unless you live near one of their projects, you won't actually be using green energy. You are offsetting your use of dirty energy by giving them money that goes towards renewable energy projects across the nation. For example, I just paid for a solar panel that will be installed on a rooftop in New Jersey. This will provide green energy to the shopping plaza it's installed at; I'll still be using dirty energy from Duke-Progress because I'm a renter and can't install my own solar panels. But, by paying for someone else to use a solar panel, I'm helping to offset my impact. This program is a good way for people to reduce their energy impact on the environment, especially if you're a renter, you move a lot, or you just aren't able to use clean energy for one reason or another.

This is a great way to "go green" if you can't install solar panels (for example, if you are renting). And it really doesn't add much to your bill either, I think mine went up maybe $12.

Arcadia is a brokerage entity, so they're a third party that brokers a contract with an electricity provider different from the one you currently use. I say this because they don't really describe themselves this way. Instead, they project an identity as an eco-conscious source of electricity that will facilitate your own participation in running your home on green energy. But they're just a brokerage firm, looking to make a buck like most every place else.

For the first few months, the contract Arcadia brokered for me saved me a little money. However, soon after, the rate changed, and now I've been stuck paying $30 $40 extra per month.

I've attempted to cancel the contract twice to no avail. The first time, I spoke with someone at Arcadia, and they reassured me it would be taken care of. That was nearly six months ago.

I then contacted the electricity supplier directly. They can't help me, though, because the contract was brokered through Arcadia. My hometown gas and electric provider can't help me either. The only way to effect any kind of change is through Arcadia.

I called Arcadia this morning and explained the issue. The representative said she'd take care of it. I asked how I might receive confirmation that the process had been initiated. She said she'd email me. I'll let you take a guess as to whether I've received an email.

I'm now on hold with them (ten minutes so far). I wish so badly I hadn't let them interfere with my electricity supply. Take it from me. The electricity might be greener over here, but the grass definitely isn't.

Arcadia Power makes it easy to support the well-being of our planet. It was simple to sign up and get started; after that, Arcadia does most of the work. Customer service has always been fast and helpful. I like feeling my use of Arcadia is another small but useful step I can take to improve our environment.

Lovin' it!!! I had been thinking of putting solar panels on my own home for a few years and haven't gotten around to it (I did put new windows and doors on my home though making it more energy efficient and increased my home's value), so to get immediate results (environmental and cost savings) I signed up for the wind program and bought a few solar panels. Now my reduced energy use can compound over time until the day I hope to put panels on my own home (just like when you invest in the stock market, it's the time that turns something relatively small into huge earnings/savings). I really feel great about my contribution too, I stopped blaming others about fossil fuels (wars we fight to keep price low, pollution that contaminates our bodies, etc..) and did something about it. My only issue with Arcadia, is they need to improve website functionality.

maybe the energy is "cleaner" but the windmills all over our beautiful Finger Lakes region are HIDEOUS!

Sign-up was easy. My house is not suitable for solar because of a large number of trees. Arcadia provided us with the opportunity to use renewable energy.

their billing is a joke and screws up my payment schedule they cant just do what i tell them to do because what i do is pay on the 3rd every month all my bills they could have taken it out on the 3rd as what i wanted. then rudely told to by a nasty lady that they cant do that such thing. now i filed a CFPB report i hope the government does something

I've been using this company for 3 months now. All payments on time, no issues with my bank, and the one time I had to email the company they responded quickly. Only 4/5 due to the multiple attempts to get me to move to 100% clean energy (which I might consider, but I want several more months under my belt first). Enjoyed the gift card and easy reduction of my coal usage.

Arcadia gives us a relatively painless way to end the burning of fossil fuels for our electricity use. I pay just $10 per month to Arcadia by credit card. It comes out automatically three days after Arcadia has sent me an email telling me about our usage and how much is due. I never respond because it always looks accurate.

In our particular case, my husband wanted to continue paying the local electric company. So Arcadia arranged for him to be able to do that, and I pay the overage. Yes, switching from coal to wind is costing us $10 more a month. I feel it is totally worth it. And Arcadia has been very easy to deal with. They are very customer friendly.

I've been using Arcadia for a little over a year. I am a PG&E customer in CA, but I only pay one bill to Arcadia each month and they take care of PG&E. The service is efficient and easy to set up. I feel like I'm helping the planet and my increased cost is extremely minimal.

Arcadia provides a valuable option to get clean energy for those who can't put solar panels on their roofs, with some options being free or almost free over the long term. I would like them to be more transparent with their solar option however. E.g. instead of using "buy" terminology, using "lease" terminology, since after you "buy" you don't really own the solar pannel but only own its output for 10 years (at that point you should recoup your initial investment). Also to clearly specify when the project expected to go in operation when you signup. On the positive side, customer service is super responsive and answers all your questions.

All things considered, I am satisfied with Arcadia service (using 50% free wind option and leased 10 solar pannels) and would recommend it to others.

So grateful to be able to support sustainable energy through the SCE/Arcadia partnership. They also recently starting sending updates about how much green energy we are using in our home which I really appreciate.

I came across an ad that says I can save 30% off my current bill, but I'm reading many reviews here and elsewhere that say the cost is the same and the reason to do it is purely to help the environment. And some people here are saying they save lots of money, and some say their bills are the same or even very slightly higher. Which is it? Can I expect to save money or not if I go with Arcadia? (My star rating isn't real. They wouldn't let me post without one).

So coming from a new member who's not had a ton of experience with paying my bills, etc.... I honestly think this service is the most easy to use and makes my life easier by the day because of the added benefit of just KNOWING that my electricity is being managed first and foremost by a select group of people who UNDERSTAND my NEEDS.

Their website interface is relatively simple and easy on the eyes. It's intuitive also, which helps in making things easy to process quickly (there's a bit of my Teacher coming out, plz excuse me)..

But honestly, they don't bombard you with options and responsibilities to do the hidden leg work that we all know about (esp power co. owners) but so often go on ..blissfully unaware about..

So far I m glad I made the choice to join with Arcadia. The 50% clean energy perk is great. National grid still handles all supply and Arcadia supplements me with clean renewable energy.

They have extremely poor customer service. The agents lie on call and do so over email as well! I was enrolled in Price Alerts programs against my direction (I opted out). Opened a ticket via email and was informed to ignore the enrollment and that it was an error on their side. Few days later, I receive an email again related to my enrollment and followed up with Arcadia support on prior ticket. Their response was standard. Ignore the email and I am good to go.

To my surprise, I received an email from my utility provider advising that my energy supplier is in the process of being switched. At this time, I am annoyed and thought to call them. It was a Friday and the agent said that she is going to research and I can expect a call later in the day or by Monday. A lie again... No one bothered to revert, so I called on Wednesday and was given an assurance that this will be resolved and I will receive a response by end of day. The day passed and I am again waiting to hear back.. After giving ample opportunities for them to correct their mess, this is the apt feedback that I believe I can provide at this time

I found out about Arcadia Power through a Mother Jones article/advertisement. I signed up for Arcadia entirely online. I gave them my power company account information and they said they would take care of everything. Except they didn't. They did not cancel my enrollment in my power company's green power plan. So for the last few months I've been paying for two green plans until I happened to see the charge on a recent bill. All Arcadia needed to say was something like they'll take care of everything except cancelling other green plans that I may already be enrolled in. Instead I'm out an extra $100. I'm really disappointed in Arcadia. They are not customer friendly. When I called Arcadia about this, all they said was that I'm responsible for cancelling any other program, and had no comment about the their reassurance in the online enrollment that everything would be taken care of.

I have been with Arcadia Power for a few yeas and it is so easy being green with them! I don't know why anyone would not sign up with Arcadia Power.

I love Arcadia. I m so glad we signed up. We do 50% wind and is not costing us anything extra. They take care of all the billing, they are very prompt in their communication. I love it. I love that I can easily make a difference for the planet just by signing up.

My major reason is the source of power uses natures provided wind, no pollution there. As I rent solar is not really an option. I've been with Arcadia nearly 2 years and although contacting them can sometimes be difficult I have always received a prompt, helpful response.

This has been the only way I could make my energy use sustainable in an old apartment building in the middle of Los Angeles with a landlord doesn't care about energy sources. I'm so happy I found Arcadia :)

Arcadia wind power service is very inexpensive. I am very pleased with their customer service. The representatives are very courteous and professional. They respond to inquiries in a very timely manner. The few times I have any issues or concerns, they are resolved beyond my expectation. Arcadia is a very trustworthy organization in my book. The Arcadia Power Office in Washington, DC so I do not think I should place a review on their site. However, from the photo's, I think it looks a great office to work in.
I live in Liberty, New York which is about 400 miles from their office.

Very shady middleman for power supply that is quite useless. They also use mostly-fake promotions such as free Wegman's gift cards for signing up, which never materialize. I created an account but never received a follow-up on the gift card. Otherwise, no one really needs what they're offering. VERY few products, services, industries, etc., need brokerage, and that's essentially what they are, a broker. Especially these days when most everything can be gotten more directly easier than ever before. Just stick with your area's actual power supplier, such as NYSEG.

I was skeptical about Arcadia at first, it seemed to good to be true. I was wrong! I've been using Arcadia now for 5 months and I love it. It is such a simple way to decrease the negative footprint you leave on the environment. Just provide your current energy information and they take care of the rest. The transition between my previous provider and Arcadia was seamless, I honestly haven't even noticed the difference aside from who I pay!

I pay for the 100% renewable option. The cost is tiny compared the ood it does. I've had zero issues with the billing or customer service, and am happy to have Arcadia as an option.

Arcadia facilitated my transition from a gas-powered to a wind-powered energy supply beautifully. It was so easy, in fact, that I did it from Hong Kong for a location in Wisconsin.

Every contact I have had with someone at Acadia has been very pleasant and constructive. I am very happy with my rates and feel a lot better about voting with my family's energy spending dollar. I know they aren't a producer, only a third-party junction, but it is more active than just sticking with the status quo. In the mean time, I can prepare to generate my own electricity. I feel like steps in the right direction are often- not always- better than no steps.

While I don't pretend to know every little detail about the industry, this business or the actions they take, I certainly can tell you that the service aspect has been flawless. A+ for Arcadia.

Arcadia Power makes it very easy to buy clean wind energy even if you can't go solar right now. I am also considering buying community solar through Arcadia as well since the experience so far has been positive. Their statements are very simple to see how much power I am using and how much the wind power costs.

An extremely simple way to feel like you're contributing to the cause of clean energy. I haven't upgraded to 100% renewables, but even just doing 50% is free and very easy. There haven't been any issues with them paying my energy bill for me.

Saved some money which is cool. Still got billed twice in April from VN Energy (I did turn off auto pay) and Arcadia, wasn't happy about that.

It gives me pride in the fact that I am reducing household greenhouse gas emissions by using wind energy. Every small drop helps.

Very long wait times on the phone. Then, you get a message saying no one is available and you need to leave a message to get called back. Very difficult to reach customer service. As for prices, mine actually went up in some months. The "discount" promised I have not seen" Lastly, beware of "no cancelation fees no contracts" as if you try to cancel, you get told it's their policy that it takes 90 days. Overall, I'm pretty unsatisfied with the service. It's really easy to get a hold of someone when signing up, but any other questions or issues, it's next to impossible. Be warned.

Easy to set up and a joy to know I am using all wind power.

Arcadia has been charging my credit card for 1 year since last August. I don't even know this company and NEVER used their service till I looked into my credit card lately. When I called them, they told me somebody used my credit card, but they will NOT refund me for the charges, NO reasons! Is this even legal? I will fight to get my money back, period! This company is commiting crime by fraudulently charging my credit card. They cannot tell me where my card is charged for and paid to where and who even. Can you trust they will serve you well?
FYI: My credit card return all the charges made by Arcadia. As the company might be a fine, I mainly have issues with the custom service: they could not tell me who used my credit for the whole, which service address they ever provided service to for this charge, but told me that they were sure somebody other than me used my card and the address is different from mine, then why Arcadia even allow this charge even happened, and continued for 13 months. Eventually you finger out it is a fraudulent charge, why on earth you only refund me for the last month charge? Really bad custom service and bad business practice the least.

I've been quite happy since switching to Arcadia Power -- the percentage of clean energy is 50% or higher, and the prices are as good or better than what I previously got from BGE!

There are some people below who unfortunately don't understand what this company does, but for people who don't have the option to buy green power, this is an amazing alternative!

For those looking to support renewable energy but don't know how...this is it! It's extremely easy to sign up and nothing changes on your end. Your electric bill gets paid as usual, just through Arcadia instead of your electric company. You still have access to your statements and Arcadia provides statements as well. It's also free to support 50% wind energy and only costs approximately an extra $10/month to support 100%. Plus they offer solar savings if you prefer that. This applies to anyone with electric service...renters or owners...and you can take it with you if you move. As always, be diligent but this is a universal renewable energy support program that not only makes sense but is also easy to participate in...what most customers ask for in support of alternative/renewable energies.

We drive an electric car and now, thanks to Arcadia Power, we charge our car with, for now, 50% clean energy. We hope to move to the 100% clean energy program Arcadia Power offers, but for now we're on the free 50% program, and it's was an easy transfer from paying Rocky Mountain to Arcadia. With Arcadia Power you can keep track of your power usage with your Dashboard.

With the response, I am bumping thia up to 4stars. .... Original: Iam giving two stars because I believe in green energy and I like their attempt to move my community towards a better future. The reason I am nor giving five stars is I had an expectation I would have my bill reduced. Instead, I am paying Arcadia the same as Delmarva, plus Arcadia for connecting me to wind energy. How am I saving? I end up paying the same plus an extra fee.

Arcadia IS making Solar available via purchasing power generated by Solar panels, and Wind energy by purchasing Certificates...I am VERY happy with the services that Arcadia supplies!
