This place is a nice walk from the main Penn State campus and has a beautiful collection of flowers, plants and trees, as well as some ponds and fountains. There's plenty of parking as well for those who drive. The views from the arboretum on the Pennsylvania glowing hills are beautiful as well.

In the arboretum, there's plenty of information displayed on the different species, which makes for a good educational visit with children.

A beautiful location for walking, or taking photos. You have to make arrangements in advance if you want to do wedding photos at this location, but it makes a great background for casual pictures. Also, very packed at prom. Prettiest in the spring or summer, but attractive in fall and even winter as well.

Family friendly beauty that doesn't cost a dime. A great place for photos of all kinds! Particularly lovely at sunset. Be sure to check out the Childrens Garden for interactive outdoor fun.

Make your visit extra sweet by visiting the creamery before or after for a bowl of Arboretum Breeze icecream, my personal favorite!

What a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. We were there during a particularly warm weekend in February. Families strolled through the beautiful gardens and played in the central grassy area. This is a great place to visit if you are in State College!

The place to go when your thoughts are heavy, your outlook is clouded. The manicured gardens remind you that there can be order in the universe. Stroll, sit, reflect, relax. The Arboretum is a peace-of-mind gem.

This is such a lovely place visit, especially at dusk (though it closes at sundown most nights, I believe).

There is a whole area with loads of great activities for kids, too. We can't wait to bring our nieces here sometime for an outing.

The Arboretum is an excellent place to take a small stroll if you need a break from campus or are a returning visitor. Parking is free for a limited time with a pass. Alternatively, you can grab ice cream from the Creamery and make the short walk to the Arboretum with your treats.
The Arboretum changes seasonally (obviously), and my personal favorite times to visit are during tulip season and in late summer when the dune grasses are at full height.
The Arboretum is still under development and will continue expanding for several more years. It is enjoyed freely now, but I believe it will have a visiting cost associated once it is entirely completed.
There are public bathrooms with flush toilets. The bathrooms are fairly well-maintained and cleaned, so there should not be concerns for those who can't hold it. (You don't have to run to the Law building!)
