The techs were great. Work was done correctly and thoroughly. The office sent the wrong tech the first time even though I was very clear on the issue they sent a HVAC tech when I requested a plumber. I would recommend the workers, but be sure you verify the type of work with a second call to make sure you get the correct help the first time.

12/31/2020 - Second time I have used this company for a major system replacement. Day after Christmas furnace stopped working and was leaking carbon monoxide into house. This company diagnosed and eventually replaced our furnace. Safety was their number one priority!
One simple project unexpectedly turned into a new well. The Appleton Campbell team addressed the unbelievable challenges and completed the project. They are commited and courteous. Everyone was exceptional.

As an existing customer, I called Appleton Campbell when a lightening strike knocked out our electrical system. Donnie Starr was at our house the next two days inspecting the damage, making sure our system could be operated safely, and preparing the report we used to file our insurance claim. Together with April in the front office who somehow managed to get REC to show up and restore power (I think this was a miracle given all the other outages from the storm), Donnie provided excellent service. He was extremely thorough and generous with his time and willingness to explain everything. Appleton Campbell has since replaced our electrical system and everything is working well. This company's prices are not cheap, but all of the technicians and office staff are responsive, reliable, competent, and professional. We are satisfied customers.
Too expensive. I was quoted $1466. for a job that has an average cost of $400.00. Called a different company same day and went with them. It cost me $375.00 for same job! Won't be calling them again.
As a long-time A-C customer with a Home Savings Agreement, I made an appointment for estimate to install three Ring Floodlight cameras replacing motion detector lights. Donnie arrived on time and reviewed work to be done - very professional and comprehensive. Estimate provided was based on his standard list of installations - times 3! Way out of line with other estimates I had received, and SIX times more than what I ended up paying for a professional installation the next day (all cameras up and operating in less than 2 hours!). Although I have generally been pleased with the service received from A-C over the years (specifically Ronnie's heating/ac inspections) this experience has (again) called into question the overall value of using A-C for other work - very unfortunate.
Finally. Got a person who knew the business - Ronnie Bland. The other people you sent didn't do much. Ronnie did what was suppose to be done. At another house we had, we had a good technician from Robert B. Payne so we knew what we were seeing.
I am really glad to finally get someone who knows the business.

He was very concerned about capturing exactly what I wanted. He went on to make several recommendations. After we had finalized what my project would need to get accomplished he thought it necessary to make some necessary preventative maintenance suggestions for my home. Not pushy, but he gave me some things to consider. 20 Aug 2013 - Update: My new Carrier brand HVAC system for the main zone in my house (zone 1) was installed on Aug 4, 2016. The job was professional from start to finish. The four men who did the job were excellent. Jason and Jeff built the foundation/retaining wall base for the new outdoor compressor unit. The end result was a very nice pressure treated wooden container topped off with quartz pea-gravel to accommodate the slope of the yard where the new unit would be placed. They did a nice job of preserving my sod and the clean up afterward was also good.
Dylen and David were the men who installed my HVAC unit both inside and out. Dylen was the lead man on the job. He was very meticulous and knowledgeable. Both men were amiable and answered all of my questions. The installation went very smoothly. Dylen was very thorough and explained the operation of my new system to me, including a new smart thermostat. He also provided a very comprehensive 3-ring binder with all of the instruction manuals, warranties, etc. for my new HVAC system. The cleanup from the installation was excellent. There was no debris of any sort left behind - a very tidy job indeed.
The Prince William County inspector came out on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 (standard procedure for gas line hook up for new appliances). She stated that Appleton Campbell was one of two HVAC companies that she personally recommended for stellar work in our county.
I have now owned and run the new Carrier brand HVAC system for two weeks now and it runs like a top. I can already tell the improvement in the efficiency vs. my former 14-year-old Goodman (builder grade) system. I can tell that my other heat pump system (zone 2) does not have to work as hard now that the new Carrier HVAC (zone 1) is in place. I look forward to seeing the savings on my next electric/gas bill.

After much careful thought and research, I hired Appleton Campbell to repair and ultimately replace my 14 year old HVAC system in my home. Previously I had used a few HVAC companies from our area that provided inconsistent service and was ready to try someone new. I was really impressed by the level of service that I received today.
Chris came out to my house and inspected my ailing AC unit, which had failed the night before. He was very courteous, kind and professional. He explained all of my options from a simple repair to updating my system. He explained the pros and cons of each choice very thoroughly. He also was patient and willing to talk with my husband [overseas] via Skype about the problem and possible solutions. Chris explained all the costs, labor and inclusions. He answered all of my questions. We were happy to discover that Appleton Campbell offers a military discount as well.
I was very pleased that I was treated as a valued customer and that the choice to repair or upgrade was left totally up to me. After weighing all possibilities we decided to have a new HVAC system installed.
Chris installed temporary measures to ensure that we would have AC for the next 6 days until they could return to install the new system. He also serviced my upstairs unit while he was here. Based upon this service call, I am confident that we are in good hands. I am looking forward to next week's installation of my new HVAC system.
Glenn G. of Appleton Campbell installed a ceiling fan rated box in my daughter's room. He cleaned up the mess that was there in regards to the old wiring. It now has one copper cable sending in power instead of the 4 aluminum cables that were wired together. I can now install the ceiling fan myself with confidence. He was helpful with information on what he was doing and did pick up any insulation that fell out. The installation was not cheap but the relief I feel from his work is definitely worth 5 stars. I can see the his dedication to his work. He was very professional. If I need something installed again I will call on Appleton Campbell.
All the service technicians that I have had in my home from AC have been exceptional.
New air conditioners were installed in May and every person involved with this transaction was very personable and professional.
In October a systems check was performed and again great technicians did the job.
Because of the positive experience with AC I called upon them again for some much needed plumbing work. Dale Beckett was fortunate to get the job order... Poor guy.. The job turned out to be a disaster but he handled as an expert with a lot of smiles... Great ending to a dirty job. Would recommend him to everyone!

I do like the professionalism they present and adhere too. We use they for our HVAC service and are very happy. Recently Glenn came out to inspect our electrical and was very thorough and patient in his explanations. He did a great job with his inspection and detailed the issues we need to correct. As other reviewers have stated their prices are higher than almost all others in each of the industries they work in. However, that price is a flat price and will not go up. I am happy with them and will call back when I need service.
Our furnace went out during a cold spell. The technician found a much bigger issue than just an electrical problem, mold! The original builder had used minimal grade materials installing duct work. AC replaced entire furnace and ducts and had us up and toasty in just one day. The men were so polite and courteous, and explained everything throughout the process. They even brought out space heaters to keep us comfortable. I have been a customer for years and will continue to be one! Good company, good people.

I called Appleton Campbell to assess a low water pressure issue at my house. They had an appointment available the next day and with only a two-hour window. The plumber, Dale, was very professional. He explained the pricing structure of the visit, listened to my issue about water pressure and then asked insightful questions to further clarify the issue. He looked at our system that includes a home filter and softener and discussed possible causes and solutions for the low pressure. He then performed some diagnostic functions and helped me determine the best course of action. Through the process, Dale did not over promise, explained possible repercussions of certain actions, and gave me a lot of information on our water system and plumbing basics. In the end, we have adequate pressure and a new plumber. Thanks, Dale!!
We had a failed septic ejector pump during a busy time of the year for us. From the initial call, the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They put me on a priority list and by 2pm the same day, "WT" was on-site to review and quote the pump replacement. He explained everything and various options, etc. - it was also clear that this wasn't the first time they'd done this :) - nice to have experience behind the work to have confidence it'll be done right. WT contacted a parts runner and stayed on site to finish the work. Before long the new pump was delivered, installed and we're back in business and confident they're a company that will stand behind their work!
Two days ago we had a semi-annual inspection done on our systems and the tech (David) found our main level furnace after 15 yrs had worn out and was not safe; it had a leak exhausting carbon monoxide. He immediately shut the system down and provided us with various options to replace. Process was simple and easy!!! Two days later we have a new, more efficient furnace and A/C system. The techs (Rodger S, Zach W, Seth A) did an outstanding job with the install, cleaning, and explanation of the system. Couldn't be happier with the service and keeping us safe!!! Thanks!!!

Paul and Roger just replaced our 17-year-old oil furnace. They did a spectacular job and cleaned up completely after themselves. In addition, Glenn just got our 3-way switch working and thoroughly inspected our electrical system. I have been a customer of Appleton Campbell for over 14 years. I have always had excellent experiences for both my HVAC and Plumbing jobs. My most recent interaction was for an installation of a second floor attic HVAC unit with Jason Williams and James Kerus. They were both fantastic. There were problems with the electrical prior installation (not Appleton Campbell) which was making the install more difficult than normal. But they doggedly pursued every avenue to find a solution to get my system to work. They were both very professional and super easy to work with. I will continue to use Appleton Campbell for my future projects. They are not the cheapest company around, but definitely one of the best.

We had a leak in our water line between our house and our well. We originally had WT come out and advise our our well issues, and he identified a leak in the line. Then the Appleton Campbell crew(Chad, Hagy, Crockett, and Josh) showed up yesterday to run a completely new line to the well. They were here on time, and did an EXCELLENT job finding the leak, replacing the old line (doing it the right way as opposed to what the original builder had), and having our water running....all in less than a day. they damaged no plants in my wife's flowerbeds, and have the yard cleaned up with new grass seed planted. Other than the straw on the grass seed, you wouldn't even know they were here. I highly recommend Appleton Campbell for others who need plumbing work, and highly recommend these crews!

They are knowledgeable of the task that they are doing. Found that they always trying to up sale things that I don t want and they are over prices in some area. Such as today suggests that I put a simple T connection for clean out on a drain on my HAVC unit and wanted to charge a crazy high rate of almost $200 for 10 min of work an $5 in parts. However for maintaining the unit they do a great job.
