The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The facility is very clean. I enjoy the class.
The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The facility is very clean. I enjoy the class.
Consistent, I love routine! Music is awesome! The "one ride" is very encouraging! We all will make it together.
I love getting back into hot yoga and really enjoyed Christa s stretch class. Will be coming to that weekly as well
I have never enjoyed a yoga studio more. The teachers and the facilities are amazing. The facilities are very clean and lovely. No stinky gross carpet here as with many studios. The teachers are caring, patient, and I just cannot say enough!
Bikram (Hot 26) Yoga is the best medical exercise to supplement my fitness regiment. If I get lazy to pump iron, Hot 26 Yoga is my recharge battery to self-motivate back in the gym.
Teachers are awesome. Motivate you to push yourself but are concerned that you do not injure yourself.
The Tuesday 8:15 pm hot yoga is very relaxing and challenging at the same time. The instructor is super encouraging and positive. She makes the class very enjoyable and helps me push myself to do my best! I also feel all of my stress, and muscle tightness being removed by the exercises and breathing in this class. Following this class I feel restored and ready to face the rest of my week.
Absolutely wonderful! I have been practicing yoga for four years. I live in New Mexico and I am in Anchorage visiting family. Anchorage Yoga is phenomenal! The energy and guidance provided in their classes was suburb.
Amazing team you have there!!! Best motivators in Anchorage! A must on anyone's fitness journey.
Very nice atmosphere and the instructor was nice and made things easy to understand. Will definitely be coming back.
Excellent facility and instructors. I wouldn't do yoga anywhere else!
As someone who has never taken a yoga class I was excited to be invited by a friend to the his location and then promptly disappointed when I found out it would cost $20 to attend. I'm surprised that there wasn't some incentive to get me in the door and that I wasn't even offered a tour when I stopped by.
My life is better because of this place.
Thank you!
This is a great studio! The staff is warm and welcoming. David did a really nice flow class. The space had a great floor and their rental mat was as good as my home mat. I would highly recommend this yoga studio for your practice.
I ve been continually impressed by this place over the years. I love the variety of classes, from more physically intense sculpt classes to really enlightening guided meditation classes. The cycle studio is an awesome addition to a winter workout routine. What draws me in over and over again is their ample daily schedule, so I can yoga in between work and outside fun. And the sweet holiday/summer deals.
Some of the insights I ve gotten here thru my practice and directly from the teachers have and will live on in my mind for years.
I've been coming to this studio since I moved to Anchorage. It was one of the first activities I did that made me feel like I was part of a community, despite being in a brand new place. Especially in those first few years, the classes helped immeasurably in managing stress of a new and demanding job. I had never tried yoga before and now I have been coming to this studio off and on for years. The instructors are great, and I love the wide variety of classes, from meditation to hot flow. I feel lucky that we have this studio in Anchorage.
I have been to AYC multiple times for Hot 26 and an AY Flow class. AYC s instructor s are knowledgeable and courteous. I highly recommend AYC for any yoga class. The studio is clean and well laid out; meanwhile, inviting. I love this studio and couldn t ask for better.
This is the place to go if you want a solid fun practice. The instructors know what they're doing. There's a depth to the practices and a community vibe. You can take your practice as far as you like. I moved from ANC and visit the studio when I'm back in town. Have yet the find a comprable one in Colorado. Miss it, like Bear Tooth.
I felt safe! I think you have done an excellent job of protecting us from the virus. As always I really enjoy the hot yoga. I think it is so beneficial to being flexible. At 77 I can do poses that I haven't done in years.
Love the space, thoughtful, service wonderful! I especially like hot 26 at 930 and aerial yoga!
the space and the locker rooms are great - just what is needed. The instructor was awesome and the service at the front desk is professional and courteous.
*Variety of class choices, everyday*App for scheduling or cancelling yoga practice and body work*Lovely and comfortable foyer *Staff is ready and able to answer questions, help with scheduling or billing issues or simply smile on the way past the desk. This matters.*Locker room is fresh, clean and easy to navigate even when busy. This has much to do with clientele being gracious, as well.*There isn't an overwhelming fragrance (migraine trigger) in any of the studios or massage room.*There is a clear effort to create comfort, encouragement, humor and precision. As a two-time cancer survivor and chronic back pain thriver, I appreciate each of these element and am looking forward to continuing flexibility, lessening back pain and opening up my chest/ribs/pectoral/shoulders, even more. My digestion is also helped by this practice.I am able to off load most of the meds for lower back/tingling/numbness/pain when I'm active at the studio. All of this to say, thank-you. I appreciate all of it.
I love being a member here. Wide variety of class times and teachers with varying styles. I never get bored and look forward to attending. Great motivation to get and stay in shape!
Who would have thought you could find such a top-notch yoga studio in Anchorage! Really experienced teaching staff here, an enormous heated studio plus a smaller, room-temp one, and excellent locker rooms with showers. Big fan of Anchorage Yoga!
I have traveled a bit and AY is a top shelf Yoga Studio with over a dozen fine instructors and several options for practice including Teacher Training and exotic retreats.
The Mindful caring, yet firm and intelligent approach of the instructor helped me deepen my practice. The attendance was not overcrowded. The temperature and environ was comfortable. The facilities clean; top notch really!
Hands down the best yoga studio I have ever been to! World class facility and instructors.
AYC is a top-notch yoga studio with friendly staff and well-trained instructors deserving of five stars. I had a two-star overall experience which surprised me, and is likely an isolated incident: I was sold a three-day pass over the phone, without being informed it was only good for one week. The AYC app did not mention the short duration either. Planning to use the passes over three weeks, I was informed during the second week that it had expired. AYC allowed me to to use the second, but not the third, resulting in a waste of $18.00 (and having to find another studio). If I had been informed of the timeline during initial purchase, I would have never purchased a 3-day pass. A good teaching point for AYC, and lesson for those purchasing passes: Ensure the pass expiration is communicated... it may not be what you think it is.
From the staff, to the facilities and quality of classes, both Yoga and Cycle is a great value and fit for anyone. Highly recommend to friends and colleagues.
The classes that I have attended (Hot Yoga) are a great break from weightlifting and resistance exercise routines during the week. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to explore an awesome Yoga studio with great instructors.
clean facilities, and the attentiveness of yoga instructors to each student during class.
I have been a member of this studio ever since my reconstruction surgery and chemo treatment. It has been an integral part of my recovery and the best decision I ve ever made regarding my mental and physical health. The studio is welcoming and the instructors are helpful and informative. You would be hard pressed to find a better facility.
I love the variety of classes, the variety in delivery among instructors for various classes, the number of options throughout the day, and the cleanliness of the facility. AY is my favorite healthy habit.
I live in West Virginia and while visiting my sister she invited me to take a Yoga class at Anchorage Yoga. Needless to say I was instantly hooked and took several more classes there. The studio is spotless; the showers well-stocked, and bathrooms are in pristine condition! Staff is friendly and welcoming, the teachers are knowledgeable and approachable; and the merchandise is fabulous.
I strongly recommend Anchorage Yoga to anyone who wants to experience the true nature of Yoga.
Thank you for an amazing experience!!!
i just really like the yoga studio. the instructors are nice and supportive. the locker room is really modern and clean. i like that your belongings are secured with a setable combination locker. the gentle yoga classes are super chill and the kundalini classes are challenging without being so difficult that i wonder if i'll ever get it. they clean the props after each use, so that makes me feel more comfortable. i just started practicing a couple of weeks ago, so i have a long way to go. yoga is helping me to look at things differently, and i appreciate that... i'm still learning.
It's awesome! Great staff, great yogis, great atmosphere, clean facility, well-managed, quality rental equipment, large variety of class offerings. I realize if I don't give you any critical feedback, you can't improve, but I'd have to get really nit-picky to point out a flaw. I just don't find myself saying, "I like AYC, but...", about the customer experience. You guys run a great facility, that doesn't happen by itself. I appreciate the efforts and I'm grateful for my time spent there. It's very easy for me, and I'm happy to, provide very strong referrals to AYC, as well as individual yogis, that are above and beyond in my opinion.
Facility was super clean and in great condition. Beginner class was easy enough yet gave options to challenge each individual slightly. First visit for me, if I lived here I d make it my home studio.
I love that the teachers do check-in and therefore greet all participants by name. It is one more thing that impresses me about the professionalism of the studio!
The teachers are amazing like you get at a retreat! The studio is so clean and fresh! I love it!
I've been going here for almost a year now and I'm absolutely pissed that they changed their "late cancel policy" if you don't book a week ahead of time then you can't get into the classes but then if something comes up you must cancel 2 hours before hand which is fine. They used to charge you 10$ if you had a late cancel, AND the class was full. Now the policy is they charge you 10$ no matter what. I'm sorry, what? I got it when it was based on the class being full, you are taking away from money they could have made if some one else would've been able to go. But on top of my 100$ membership I am getting charged for a class that isn't full.
Money hungry is what I call that. Anchorage Yoga has become the big box store of yoga studios and yet they charge the same that studios that give you smaller classes and more attention do.
Anchorage yoga gets it and has the best program to fit all!
I love AYC. They care about capital improvements and maintenance in addition to being devoted to class quality. Everything is always clean and tended to (because the support staff rocks) and the teachers are solid. I can't imagine going to another studio.
Anchorage yoga is like a second home to me. They have many skilled teachers one of which (Katie) has become "my" teacher, I feel like my practice and my connection to myself has blossomed because of her, for which I am extremely grateful. AY offer a variety of training, workshops and classes such as; Bikram, Various Flows, Deep Stretch, even kids yoga - it truly has something for everyone. Being in a colder climate like Alaska I enjoy that they offer so many hot classes. Their facilities are always clean, the staff welcoming and the members are friendly/conscientious. I love that they offer massage regularly now, Jena Talmage is AMAZING!! I felt completely transported. She got deep and really helped me with some chronic issues. All in all a highly recommend Anchorage Yoga <3
The 7am class with Melanie was so great! Just the right combination of challenging and playful. Just right for that time of day. I've been doing yoga videos on my phone which are nice, but nothing compares to a class with a good teacher and fellow students. So glad I got up!
Great Community. Great Yoga Teachers. Great Facility. Changed my Life.
I love the instructors and the variety of classes! I feel amazing after taking a class here :)
Excellent teachers, great facility, a variety of classes, and all-around good vibes :-)
The instructors are great and the studio feels invading and peaceful
Anchorage Yoga is a such a welcoming, clean and cool studio. The community is strong, teachers are extremely knowledgeable, and staff welcomes you with happy positive energy! I appreciate the variety of class styles and times that AY has to offer - definitely recommend this studio.
Amazing community, positive message, and beautiful facility. Definitely cultivating love and community through actions of all those who represent this studio.
AY is the reason I fell in love with yoga. Friendly staff, warm and inviting studio, awesome yoga classes for all levels.
I was super nervous going in (I'm still newish to yoga and the studio is huge) but I was met with warmth and welcoming that I haven't found in some of the smaller studios. The class was great, the teacher was great and I ended up becoming a member. :)
I really love the variety of yoga classes here, and they have some excellent teachers--I really like David, Christa, and Allison E.'s classes. They are extremely good at giving direction and I always feel positively supported. I've been to most of the yoga studios in Anchorage and this is by far my favorite.
It's been a month since I started the cycling class, heard about this thru a good friend of mine on facebook. First day of class was the "Best", it was hard for me at first, but watching others in the room get pumped up by the instructor and the beat of the music kept me off my seat :)..... I love everything about the program, I love that I am also able to book my class ahead of time especially with my busy work and family schedule.
Thank you Anchorage Cycle!
AYC is a gorgeous studio. It is clean, modern, and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoy the instructors and the space.
Each time I leave class, I feel I have grown in my practice; each time I leave class, I feel I have gained something to reflect upon.
All the staff members are very friendly and helpful. Additionally, the facility is both beautiful and functional. My favorite class is deep stretch which is relaxing and physically beneficial.
Great studio, environment, and energy! Classes for everyone whom are at different stages of their yoga practice.
I have two good things to say about Anchorage Yoga. 1. The staff and other patrons are nice, and 2. The facility is updated.
BUT unfortunately, that is all the good feedback I have for this place. If the third, fourth, and fifth stars were 3. Quality of classes, 4. Value for money, and 5. Overall experience, these are all lacking.
All of the classes are overcrowded. This means during hot yoga people s sweaty feet are in my face. I almost got kicked in the face last time and it was not the fault of the other person, it was just too crowded. During stretching classes and all classes (but especially stretching) there is not enough space to spread out and do the different moves. Using straps, there is no space to extend your leg. There is no space for anyone to use the wall. The entire experience feels like the fast food version of yoga: quick, dirty, and leaves you less healthy and less satisfied than if you picked a slower, less crowded option.
Except unlike fast food, Anchorage Yoga also charges more than other better places in town. And on top of that, there are signs in the locker room telling people not to shower for more than three minutes at a time. Why? Not that I would use the showers there anyhow. I am always trying to get away as soon as I can. I am only attending long enough to use up my ten pre-paid classes. Don t waste your money. OpenSpace offers free classes, the Rock Gym offers $20 a month unlimited yoga with a climbing membership...Anywhere is better than Anchorage Yoga!
The place is immaculate. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Nobody made me feel out of place even though I have the flexibility of a wooden plank and not exactly a yoga friendly body.
The classes, facility, and staff are still #1. I've been attending here for awhile and they keep improving. Keep up the great work!
There is a variety of dynamic and unique teachers who guide us through a yoga journey each time I go to class. The front desk staff is lovely and always willing to help. I have a job that requires me to be on call, and the staff is incredibly accommodating- they hold the phone for me and come get me if it rings. I am humbled by the kindness of everyone at the studio each time I attend.
the temperature in class was 79 when I left the room. Abysmal and very inconsiderate considering you are teaching a high aerobic class. Shame on you.
The studio flows well! I joined three months ago Nafisa was my first class I loved it only to find every teacher equally bringing something new to the same movements! Fascinated I continue to step into the studio and heal little by little I regain strength and balance. Can't wait for my first year anniversary.
The studio is clean, peaceful, and welcoming with nice locker room facilities and all the equipment you would need available. They have a variety of class options with classes going on all day so it is easy to fit your schedule. They welcome all levels of experience and make you feel comfortable no matter what.
David Westlake is an excellent instructor. I also loved the chilled lavender towels after class. A very nice touch.
Amazing yoga experience. The class was packed and the vibe was supportive, welcoming, and intimate. Katey is an inspiring and talented instructor.
I am so impressed with the knowledge of the instructors I work with. I feel that Anchorage Yoga provides what I believe yoga is- a chance to connect to my mind, body and spirit in a collective experience. The staff is welcoming and friendly, the studio is clean, and the instructors are thoughtful and challenging at the same time. I would definitely recommend Anchorarge Yoga to others!!
Hooked on these classes with fabulous motivating instructors and kick butt music!!
Easy to reserve classes, buy classes, wide variety of classes with excellent instructors.
Very comfortable, friendly and non-judgmental environment
I love this studio because it is clean, warm, and friendly. All of the instructors are top notch! My favorite studio in town, especially for hot yoga.
I love being a part of the Anchorage Yoga community! I know I ve grown in my health & I my mind. I always feel so good when I go. And I m down 12 pounds!
If you are looking for a studio with the worst possible customer service, then this is the place for you!
I'll split this review into two parts:
The instructors that I had here- Melissa, Allison, Rick and David, I really enjoyed and thought they were great.
Now for the second part- I don't like to give bad reviews, but I also don't like how a situation was handled by the management. One night, after a late Bikram class, I had changed and left my yucky workout clothes in a bag on a bench in the locker room, honest mistake. I called as soon as I got home and spoke to Kristin, who told me no problem, I can come in the next day to get them. Around noon the following day, I stop in and one of the girls, Nicole said yes, they were in the back. She returned with my top, but my $80 leggings were nowhere to be found. Nicole called Kristin while I was there, and Kristin said that she had put both top and bottoms in the washer and dryer together. This really bothered me, as these leggings are not cheap. Nicole gave me the manager's name, and I call later that day and leave a message for her. Amanda, the manager, calls me the next day, says she's asked around, and no one knows what happened to the leggings, she doesn't know what else to do.I inform her that I would like the leggings replaced- I was told that they were both there, now the inexpensive top is here, but the leggings are gone. Amanda gets back to me two days later and informs me that there is nothing on their end they can do, that have never had a situation like this before, any expensive gear they find they keep behind the desk for safe keeping ect. Yet, another girl who was working with Nicole the day I went to get my things tells me that recently she had also left an expensive top behind the desk after a class, only to come back to work a few days later and it was gone. Huh. Amanda then goes on to tell me that Kristin must have misspoken, the clothes she said were mine weren't. I had two weeks left on my yoga pass, and I told Amanda that I no longer felt comfortable coming in to practice there, with the theft of my belongings and her way of handling the situation. She replies back with a curt, "Sorry you feel that way."
Yes, I am sorry- sorry that I no longer have a place to practice Bikram, as Anchorage doesn't offer much, sorry I was screwed out of the remaining two weeks of my yoga pass, sorry that I took the staff at their word, and I am sorry that some one was so ugly as to steal something that clearly was not theirs.
Very upsetting and strange situation, with the conflicting stories I received from the staff here at Anchorage Yoga.
Update: The day after I posted my review, a staff member, Rachel, called me to apologize for the frustration I felt with this situation. While my pants haven't been found, she assured me that if they did, she would let me know. She also offered me a free week of classes, which I did decline, but I appreciated her reaching out.
**UPDATED 1/20/16
I received an email from one of the owners, Joshua Love, who had been out out town and didn't become aware of the situation until he returned. He generously offered to replace my pants and five free classes. I am very grateful and impressed how he handle this issue and appreciate it so much!
I love AY! Life is complicated, yoga is simple. I show up, leave the chaos of the world outside my mat and breathe in all the splendid joy yoga brings to my life!
There are so many options for yoga classes and cycling. The teachers are great and so helpful.
Very nice, clean, and welcoming place to enjoy health!
Friendly staff, great ambience, quality classes. Love this place!
LOVED it!! This was my very first yoga experience and my sister's, too! We absolutely love, love, LOVED it!! We received a friendly and upbeat greeting from staff when we walked in. The studio is nice and clean which I very much appreciate. The atmosphere is chic and warm. We enjoyed the scented cold towels at the end which were incredibly refreshing after hot yoga. We cannot wait for our next class!
Anchorage Yoga provides such a great variety of classes! Instructors are friendly and help you to remember to take care of yourself and commit to your goals. For anyone needing relaxation and encouragement to reach your goals, this is the place for you.
Large number of classes to choose from with friendly and knowledgeable staff and instructors
Anchorage Yoga is clean: in a sweaty environment, the classroom smells palatable; you provide towels, and washcloths and showers. I feel like my stuff is safe: you have easy-to-use lockers with built-in, programmable locks. The classes are easy to access: booking and canceling and paying is transparent and efficient through the app. Finally, and most importantly, the instruction is broad in terms of scope and schedule, and the instructors are kind and knowledgable.
Owners Katie and Josh have created a nurturing and positive atmosphere, a non-judgmental community of inspired staff and yoga practitioners, and consistent, knowledgeable instructors who all seem to know your name! With over 80 classes a week offered there are options for every level and every intention.
Recently they expanded their business to include Anchorage Cycle at a different location, which is a spectacularly rejuvenating compliment to any yoga practice, providing cardio benefits likened to running but without the impact on your knees and hips. It's like running in a cloud. Amazing!!
Beautiful studio with excellent facilities. The class was challenging and everyone was so friendly. If I lived in Anchorage, I would be taking classes here every day.
Outstanding teachers, delightful atmosphere, and amazing variety of classes.
Anchorage Yoga is my home away from home. I love the peaceful environment of the studio and the caring and attentive instructors. I was first introduced to yoga at this studio a few years ago, and I'm so thankful for the positive impact it has had on my body and mind. I now attend Anchorage Yoga religiously.
The Anchorage Yoga facility is beautiful and very well kept. I really enjoyed the Hot Flow yoga class, which was my first yoga experience. I practice a few days per week and love it more every class! I also do their cycle classes which are amazing!! Highly recommend either facility
The entire atmosphere of the studio is incredibly calming, everyone is welcoming, and they have awesome instructors. As my first time trying yoga, I didn't know what to expect - but I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience! I encourage anyone/everyone to try this location out.
Awesome! Hot Yoga was amazing, coded lockers, towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash smells great too after all that head to toe sweating...lol
Great yoga teachers, a great variety of classes and a very relaxing studio. I highly recommend Anchorage Yoga
Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I was thrilled to find a mysore class while visiting Anchorage!
I m brand new to yoga and have no idea what I m doing. I ve been to two classes and the instructors have both had great attitudes. I ve been encouraged every step of the way!
Wonderful surprise to stumble upon Anchorage Yoga on a one day visit through Anchorage after spending two weeks in the Alaskan interior. Beautiful studio space, spa like bathroom facilities and showers, super clean hot yoga studio room. Friendly staff, great community- awesome teacher for my hot vinyasa flow practice. Loved walking out of a perfectly balanced hot yoga practice to snow falling gently on my face:)
My brother and I had two phenomenal drop-in experiences at Anchorage Yoga during a 10-day trip to Alaska this summer. We took Rick's hot yoga class, which was appropriate for beginners through regular practitioners. His energy got us through 60 minutes of sweltering, challenging, rewarding bikram. Moreover, all the staff were friendly and helpful, from helping me reschedule the second class to helping to track down a pair of shorts I left in the locker room. Highly recommend, whether for locals or visitors!
I love attending the classes here! The classes are amazing very relaxing but also a good workout/stretch. I have back pain and I've only done 3 classes and it's already so much better. It is also very convenient to go to a early class and then go strait to work or school. There are showers with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that are all great. They also have blow dryers. I love being able to go to yoga and then go right to work. Definitely worth the money!
