The place was absolutely amazing and the staff was extremely nice and friendly. The outside sitting area is right next to the river and the view at night is incredible. I would definitely recommend the place to everybody who is looking for a peaceful place to have a drink and enjoy the evening away from the hustle of the busy streets but still want to spend time in central London. Really great place.

The atmosphere is lovely and the decor is very old world I think 16th century so a great place to take my foreign guests. The portions are massive and prices are reasonable. They have great lounge chairs which you really do need to lounge on after a lovely big fish supper. I recommend this place to anyone with a flavour for some fresh fish.

I'm from the same company.
Went for a drink with my family, proudly to bring them there. Bar man trataed me in a really rude way, he did most of the drinks that I asked wrong. Served me a bottle of coke HOT without offering me some ice. I'm really disappointed since the man looked like kind of manager.
Used to be one of my favorite sites. Will never go again. Plus i couldn't use my voucher.

Great pub with a considerable beer garden overlooking the Bankside view of the Thames, as well as views of the Shard.

The outside area has recently had a refurbish and is much improved.

Does a decent fish and chips too!

Food is usually pretty good but the meat in my burger was hard as a rock and the fried onions rubbery...like it had been left on the pass for half an hour....or 3! I didnt get dessert as the dinner was bad but the rest of my group were unimpressed and didnt

Service was a bit odd. The security guy was clearly tables in the roof terrace?? The girls in the downstairs bar were far more interested in gossiping than serving me....the only person stood waiting at the bar.

All round very dissapointing and for our international guests only here one night. On the plus side...the toilets were clean.

We love the Anchor Bankside! We make sure to take any visitors we have there. The vegetarian fish n chips (deep fried halloumi cheese) are AMAZING!!! We've never had a problem with service or finding seating. However, while there is tons of indoor & outdoor seating it can be difficult depending on the season (tourists) or if there's an after work crowd. While it may not come off as the cleanliest of restaurants (the tables are always sticky) it has a charming quality and is right next to the river. It's a great place to stop while wandering along the Southbank.

Great location and remarkable interiors. Worth a visit when walking around Bankside for a drink and some nibbles. Be aware that the place can get pretty crowded and noisy, which is a drawback for me. Other than that, I would recommend for a quick stop!

Great location and it could be a fantastic pub. Unfortunatley, on our visit we got dirty tables, filthy toilets which absolutely stunk of urine even in the ladies, and overworked staff, who were run off their feet. Our food was dropped on the table spilling all the chips onto the table. Although the waitress cleared up the chips she just left what was on the plate without returning to replace them. We had to go and ask for more replacement chips but waiting for this made the rest of the dinner cold to eat. Sadly I had a guest from Germany with me and was ashamed that this place is presented as a great British pub. It is not, it is a disgrace to the industry. A good manager and more staff could make this an amazing Pub.

Interior and atmosphere is great. The service at the street level (Anchor?) bar is horrid!!! The bartenders were slow and unmotivated.....and RUDE! So many other pubs worth giving your business to in the immediate area. Skip the stinking pit!!!

Sorry to say, but probably the worst dining experience we had in our week in England. Service was awful as the two bartenders (young women) ignored us. They mostly cater to beer drinkers and we came there to eat. You have to order your food at the bar and then they bring it to you. It's hard to ruin a piece of chicken, but they succeeded. It looked like it had been sitting in the display window. Worst fish and chips (and we tried several).

In summary, bad service, terrible food, but hey...the place looks nice.

Came there just to grab some beer and snacks. Guys at the bar were impolite. They asked for table number that they forget to put on the tables. Beer was actually very good. Food was not that good. Moreover after rain you might get some water in your ketchup, napkins, etc.
It was worst pub we have visited in London. But seems to be one of the famous one.

Lovely historical pub. Is amazing to think that Peeps will have stood on the same balcony as you and watched the Great Fire of London burn. Being able to smell the smoke across the Thames all those years ago.
If you re interested in history this really is a must visit part of the Southbank and this is a great little stop off. Can get extremely busy but there are quite a few bars in this pub and many a nook or cranny to hide in if you re avoid the constabulary

Unfortunately one of the worst Sunday lunches I ve had in London. We ordered three roast dinners with beef and what we got was two slithers of overcooked beef, hard and tasteless with some mushy vegetables. The potatoes was the only decent taste of the dish.

This venue is greatly located along the river Thames and is a very popular route for walking, jogging and tourists alike. The pub itself is large and has both an inside and outside seating section. The outisde section is great for summer and complete with an outside bar. The inside also has ample seating but with only 2 medium sized bars you tend to wait long for your drinks, hence the 4 and not 5 stars.
Food is your standard pub food and quality so not much to distinguish itself there.

It's a nice English pub. Fish and chips were very tasty and very delicious. I hated English, but it was nice for the staff to be nice. The atmosphere itself is vigorous and the person who does not like to be loud is depressed to go at night.

Here for the world cup v panama. They have an okay screen on an outdoor terrace near the thames (maybe 40 inch) but the speakers are broken so its very quiet and if youre not right next to it, you cant hear anything.

If I could give 0 stars I would.

If I could give 0 stars I would.
Arrived for a booked table for breakfast and waited for over an hour before we were told they only had one member of staff in the kitchen. I totally understand that this is out of their control but we were not told for an hour.

We ordered coffees and were given empty cups to fill from a machine, which is understandable but the waiting staff were not busy so didnt understand why they couldn't do this.

When we were told about the lack of staff we were asked if we wanted to wait. We agreed to wait as the food was going to be given for free. We waited a further 30mins after being told food would be 20mins. Then we were told our order had been cancelled as they thought we wanted to go elsewhere. Again, this could have been an issue with communication but we were not asked "would you like us to cancel your order?" Or anything official like that. Table next to us sent back food as they said eggs were raw and inedible.

Once we realised our food had been cancelled we were told the one chef on shift had been busy prepping for Sunday lunch - but not preparing any food for customers in the pub?!

Overall a really dissappointing experience and I would urge you not to go here.
