It's a shame that this one went down the pan after being taken over by a big brewery a few years back. It used to be a truly historic pub with a small, quaint feel and packed with locals. Now it's a tourist shop selling average beer and lousy food at high prices with the sort of service that makes me feel embarrassed for visitors. If you're looking for historic English pubs, there are many better in the area. Check out The Blackfriar for example.

Extremely unprofessional service. Lady at the host (girl in red hair ) was very rude. No Hi no good afternoon . Drinks outside are being serve in a cheap plastic glasses. Wine is poured into plastic glass too so u not sure what are u getting as they might give u anything. There are better pubs to go along the river so don t bother to stop by.

Walked past this pub not long after it had closed. Looked in the window to see what the inside looked like and see 4 mice running around the floor and tables. That was only looking through one window. So who knows how many more there was running around and how many there are in the kitchen area. Food hygiene should take a look into this pub.

First of all, the location is great. Riverside views, a stone's throw from Shakespeare's Globe and the Tate Modern.

Inside, there's lots of space across two floors with an additional roof terrace which is small but crams in a decent amount of tables.

Having queued at the bar for quite a while to order food and drinks, the staff member suddenly closed down the till and asked me and an another customer to use the other bar in the main room. Instead of just agreeing to serve me after I told her I'd been waiting for ages, she made me requeue at the adjoining bar. Not a biggie, but considering there was only one other person waiting to be served after me, she could have just taken our orders instead of closing the till.

Anyway, the menu is classic pub fare, intended to draw in tourist crowds looking to sample "traditional" Brit dishes like fish n chips and pies.

I had the chicken and mushroom pie with mash. The pie was decent but the mash and veggies were woefully dry.

Nice place but maybe one for the tourists...

Staff is unprofessional, slow and hardly speak English , during the day time it's rarely someone behind the bar, - I was waiting for about 10 minutes, when the barmaid showed up she served the guy who came after me, then she disappeared again. For some unknown reasons they do play X FM alike radio, which is really annoying.. I could imagine there should be some neutral music at least during the day time.

We went there around lunchtime on a Saturday and as expected it was very busy with only tables outside available. The atmosphere was great inside, a very cosy vibe, and a mix of tourists and locals. We ordered food which was fish and chips and a BBQ pork burrito. Fish and chips was quite bland with a strange acidic taste to the ketchup (side point) The fish was quiet nice however especially considering it's a touristy venue. In terms of the BBQ pork burrito, it was heavily weighted to the rice with minimal pork and clearly had been in the heat in the kitchen for some time as the foil had stuck to the wrap in some places and couldn't come off. Bit annoying as had to spend time peeling it off the food. Also the nachos you get are pretty pointless. Clearly they were in the heat for ages as the cheese was glued to the nachos. Also they only came with cheese and peppers. Overall the food is edible to ok given the location. However in terms of atmosphere - great.

It can get a teeny bit touristy here, but it's actually a decently furnished pub with a nice chilled vibe, well stocked bar and friendly staff. It's views of the riverside are quite stunning, too, so it's worth staying for a round or two.

Visited the place after a friend recommended going there for fish and chips and it was worth it. In case you are a fan of ciders the Recorderlig with strawberry and lime taste is what I would suggest you try.

This place has a great location and you can sit right along the Thames. Drinks are good and average-priced for London. Unfortunately, ordering and eating our food was a sub-par experience. Even though the bartender said to order from him, he proceeded to tell us he didn't know how to ring in what we wanted and we'd have to come back. So we sat with our drinks a while, came back, waited in line, tried to order and were told they were out of that. Back to our table to find something else. Back to the bar to wait in line again for the one bartender. Ordered. Back to our table, looked at the receipt and realized the bartender rang in the wrong thing. Fine, at this point we just want food.

Hopefully it was a fluke experience and perhaps their other food is better. I'd come back for a pint and a seat by the water, but that's about it.

A very good English tavern at an affordable price. A lively atmosphere and with somewhat low light, it is between a pub and a restaurant.

Without a doubt, a place to consider for dinner if you are in the area

Lovely setting but the staff always go home in the evening without cleaning up the rubbish and glasses their customers have left... the plastic is all over the streets and falls into the river Thames. Owners don t seem to be very considerate about the neighbours nor the environment!

beautiful vintage English pub inside you can breathe a truly British atmosphere, savoring one of the abundant dishes of the house, you can admire the thames through the enormous glass windows. It has outdoor tables and a lovely terrace great for when the weather is mild! I tried the lime and berry cider ... yummy!
