If I could give a minus score - I would. worst help service I ever came across! The people working there have to be the least helpful, most ignorant and rude personell out there. I called four times and was hung up on twice because the woman on the phone didn't know anything and couldn't even tell me where to get the information I need. Catastrophe!
Have finally reached someone after the third call, the employee has just hung up when I just picked out the application number (PDF opened so not even needed 5 seconds !!) The lady was probably too long, then have spoken with the Auflegzeichen. Absolutely unprofessional employee and probably did not mind to do her job. If you call this number for money, it would be nice if one of his concerns is helped ..

Unfortunately had a very rude person on the phone. I was not allowed to finish my question at first (which was necessary in order to understand my situation), probably in order to achieve a more efficient processing. However, afterwards we talked for 2 minutes (irritably) about how the question could best have been asked. I didn't understand if the person wanted a quick turnaround.
I understand when the people there are under pressure to perform, but then the consulate / embassy should hire more staff.
You are not allowed to take with you phone, bag - BUT THERE IS NO LUGGAGE STORE for visa applicants, an you have to go to S-bahn station(so said staff on entrance) to leave you things to some one selling food and pay for this some cash(and you have no pay confirmation and storage receipt). Just think to pay cash for LUGGAGE STORAGE to unauthorized person - is this new way to make money?
Maybe you should think about your behavior, if you have to wall it in. But reflection is not necessarily for everyone ...

What a disappointing and rude welcoming. In approaching the embassy yesterday afternoon, we were rudely waved off by the guard outside. He threw up his hand at us and said, Not now. He could ve said, Hello, can you give me a minute? or Could you come back in 10 minutes? Just a complete dismissal of our presence as if we were dogs. Can this guard be trained to be polite? Maybe train him with a few phrases he can use to talk in a civilized manner to people? Jeez
If I read the reviews that way, it's all as messy as the new president. I emphasize that I expressed myself in a very humane way because I trust this guy, but nothing good.

Arrogant employee on the phone refers without the attempt at all assistance to give tacitly to the contact by e-mail address. When asked for the processing time you only hear "write an e-mail, thank you." and the opponent ends the conversation without another word.
There was also a very rude lady on the phone with me who, 15 minutes before closing, wasn't even ready for the public to listen to my question. I would just be pushed away.

Sadly the new renovations have removed any welcoming feeling in the citizens services area of the consulate. Far less efficient, and purely functional. The circles of chairs and sofas, and helpful information posted on the walls, replaced with two rows of plastic chairs, and empty white walls. Even the US passport photo machine is gone. Considering the fact we are forced to file a US tax return every year, despite not living there and having no financial ties whatsoever to the states, one would hope that we would at least have a comfortable place to do passport renewals, etc...

Stylistically rather a building that fits in a commercial area to judicial buildings and administrative buildings. Setting up such a secluded building in the middle of one of the liveliest streets in Berlin is absolutely inappropriate and merely testifies to the arrogance of the landlords.

My mother is in the process of obtaining a B2 visa with them and they told her to send in her passport to grant her the visa. However, the embassy has not returned her passport for over 3 weeks and every time we call, they just deflect and or hang up! How hard can it be to add a stamp on a passport and return it?! Also, how hard can it be to be nice to people who have questions about their visa status?
For future visa matters, I will probably work with another german-american embassy in Germany (as they have several). Disaster and the worst customer service. DO NOT START YOUR VISA PROCESS WITH THE BERLIN EMBASSY! GO TO ANOTHER ONE!

This embassy is an embarrassment...I'm a US citizen and feel disgusted how people are treated.. arrogant and careless...that's not America..
Insufficient monitoring
I feel very insecure in Germany, because I have the impression that the NSA does not sufficiently control communication in this country. I mean, it could come at any moment to a terrorist attack! Who protects us from this, if not our good friends and partners from the USA ?? So my suggestion: Be sure to build more surveillance infrastructure in the middle of Berlin to tackle the terrible threat posed by every human and potential terrorist fanatic!

I don't like the building. It is simply sealed off and loveless, a purely functional building.
It seems like American doesn't know how to be hospitable. We had to queue outside of the building under the rain without shelter! General service from the officer was also very poor. Unfriendly. Officer spoke as if I want to go to America to be illegal immigrant. Noone in a sane mind want to leave Germany for America. These people must have been on the cloud for the longest time. Ha!!

I just had a specific visa question that I could not answer on the website but the lady on the phone was totally incompetent and said from the beginning she could not help me without hearing the question, then she said annoyed all the time she posted on the website and repeated this over and over again. I have not experienced anything like that! An impudence!

Incredibly incompetent, unfriendly and snotty employee who had no interest in helping. After three signs of the situation, she said that she still does not understand what it is about and swarmed with a "not responsible" the phone call.

IMHO nothing negative or positive a typical U.S. Embassy. Did not use any of their services but did take note and take picture of a buddy bear dressed as the Statue of liberty. I thought that was kind of neat mixing symbols of USA and Berlin. Very close to this embassy is the famous Brandenburg Gate and Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.
Architecturally, the building fits well with Pariser Platz. It looks a bit dismissive.

Need a Passport urgently to deal with immigration issues here in Germany and have to wait extremely too long for them to get around to "getting the required information they need from Washington." The 6 hour time difference and Covid-19 situation makes matters even worse. Don't even think they work on Mondays. I've written numerous emails and they hardly respond to them. They could care less about what I'm going through. Not happy at all.
Very unfriendly and nervous, no inspection possible.
