The food was delicious!! Though we had to wait a bit for our food..they forgot to add the chicken on the bar-b-que pizza my son ordered. Myself and the 2 teens enjoyed our experience due to Ethan(our waiter)I would say. Ethan made the dining experience amazing with his professionalism, attentiveness, and beautiful smile!! This place a lot going for it including some of the best desserts I've ever had. Tons of sweets to choose from. it's pretty expensive but it is worth it as an occasional decadent treat.
The food here is generally above average. The service however has slowed down. Today we were there, on a Friday before a long weekend. We arrive at 2:40. Our food, for 3 of us, with no special orders, took 40 minutes to arrive. We were served by the manager, because she said "Our service staff is swamped", but there were literally only 3 other families in the entire place. The whole time we were there we never once saw a single service staff, so if by "swamped" she mean "absent", that would make more sense.
The place just feels dreary; the lighting is dim, the music is... old, the decor is out of 1963, and not in a 'chic' way.
The bench seats are almost universally broken down, or overly soft, but whatever the cause, you sit way too low in them for the table.
The deserts are great, but the serving size is just absurd. I get we want more for our money, but cutting the serving size (and price) in HALF would still be large enough for multiple people.
This place is wonderful! From the fabulous service and the stellar lattes to awesome food! They have a wonderful atmosphere as well as delicous options for dessert! Will be back!
Best bakery in the area!. Their cheesecake, cupcakes, truffle and cookies are amazing!!!! Did i mention their cheesecake, hands down the best!!. Their cakes are a bit pricey but overall good.
Best wedding soup I ve ever had, and I m from the North where it s everywhere. Yes, the cakes are the best!! Most in ATL agree but, the food is amazing too!!
Best customer service I have ever had at a bakery. Believe it or not, that's not the best part.. the cakes are so delicious!! I don't normally eat cake, but am ordering a "million dollar cake" and a strawberry shortcake roll for my wedding. They are AMAZING! I had dreams about these cakes after I left from the tasting. They are THAT good.
Been getting dessert from here for year and I am never disappointed in taste, quality and quantity. The large servings and fair prices for the best Italian food around.
Stopped by to have dinner this evening at Alpine Bakery and Trattoria. My family and I have eaten there many times, but, after this evenings experience, we won't be dining here again. I ordered Chicken Scaloppini for dinner. The meal came and was honestly the worst tasting thing I have ever tried to eat. All I could taste was garlic, garlic and more garlic. The waitress stopped by my table and asked if I loved it. Stupid me told the truth and said no that actually I didn't like it at all. She was sweet and offered to bring me something else, but, I stubbornly soldered on trying to find something that tasted good on that plate. Shortly thereafter, a person from the kitchen came out with a hand vacuum and began vacuuming all around my table, then under my table, literally within inches of my feet. I am reasonably sure I said nothing, nor did anything that should have lead to such treatment. Message delivered though, Alpine Bakery doesn't want my business. That is fine folks, but, if you don't listen to your customers and treat them with respect, you won't have very many!
Picked up an order for lunch and I have to say I was very impressed! I was able to try a bit of everything, from an entree, to a slice of cake and some cookies, and it was all very good! The staff was also friendly and helpful. Next time I will have to dine in, as an Italian from NY, I really appreciated the old world Italian feel of the atmosphere, which seems hard to come by these days
Very friendly staff, mouth watering cake. Bought Raspberry white chocolate cake and it was fabulous. Guest enjoyed it thoroughly. Little pricy but worth it. Enjoy the food
The quality is fantastic and the taste is authentic and outstanding. This is a world-class restaurant in a hometown location. The pasta and Italian dishes are authentic. The pastries our outstanding.
I ordered takeout tonight, same eggplant parmesan which I've had before. It was tough, lacked flavor, just not up to standard. My husband and son thought the same of their dish. I'll rethink this spot.
Love the bakery!! Ive never eaten at the restaurant but the bakery is fantastic! So many options! It s always fresh. And very flavorful! The staff is always kind and knowledgeable about the desserts.
Excellent as always. I been coming back for a decade and I feel sorry not to have review before. The best in area. Thank you very much for the experience you offer .
When it comes to dessert we tried the a couple of truffles as well as the choc chip cookie and an espresso cookie. The Oreo and Pb truffles as well as the espresso cookies were overly sweet. The chocolate chip cookie needed more flavor and chocolate for sure. We were a little disappointed giving the fact we have been looking to visit this place for a while.
They did have some awesome looking pieces of cake, cheesecake, and pies which were roughly $10 each. Quite a bit for a dessert, although portions are huge but unless you have 4 people willing to share is just too much. Wish portions were smaller, they would probably sell more.
I used to frequent Alpine all the time. However, after my past two experiences with the restaurant I will not be going back for the foreseeable future.
Incident #1: We called in a relatively small yet simple take out order for a family birthday, two large meatball pizzas at around 3:30 because we planned to eat around 4: 5:00. I was told that the pizza would be ready in about 45 minutes which was fine. However, once I arrived I was told that they had not even started making my pizzas because of an issue with the oven in the kitchen. When I asked why nobody had called to inform me that my pizza would not be ready in a reasonable amount of time I was subjected to an eye roll and told that they had no way of calling every single person who had placed an order for carry out. I left empty handed and had to scramble to put a last second birthday dinner together.
Incident 2: My brother insists that I give it another shot. We plan a family dinner with some relatives who are visiting out of town. The waiter was extremely snotty and disinterested in our table seeing as the only person who received a refill had to ask for one on three separate occasions. In addition to the terrible service the food was just average, nothing special. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable and the table that we were seated at seemed to be cheaply made seeing as it wobbled anytime someone attempted to cut their food with a knife and fork.
A very nice Italian restaurant (also a bakery) with excellent service and live piano music. Our group of a dozen ranging in age from 10 to 80 all enjoyed the food and atmosphere. In particular, I can recommend the gnocchi, chicken marsala, and grilled salmon salad. The portions are on the big side, but aren't huge. The desserts, from their bakery, are outstanding.
Some of the staff acts like they do not want to be there. Make sure to look at the cakes before ordering to ensure it is fresh, I've had dry cake served here before.
Every time I have taken my family or out of town guests there, it has never disappointed. The bakery is top notch (we always order something to take on out of town visits such as thanksgiving or Christmas) and all food is delicious. The highlight has always been their pizza. In fact I have a buddy who's Austrian, and his exact comments after a caesar salad and pizza were- "this is the best I've had in the US".
We went here to celebrate graduation of family from UGA. We had 10 people. Waiter was rude, Did not listen to what we ordered. Ask for room temperature water with no lemon. I received ice water with lemons all over it. I ask again, Please can I get water with no ice and no lemon... I got cold soda water again with lemon. I told the waiter this is soda water and he rolled his eyes. People ordered coke and received tea...
I ordered Calamari, It was so over cooked it was crunchy. I did not say anything about it at this point but only ate a 1/4 of my meal. It was obvious it overcooked by the dark brown color.
When it came to close out our bill, My brother-in-law wanted to pick up the bill for everyone but I ask the waiter to put me and my wife on a bill by itself. It had 20% automatic gratuity added to the bill due to the size party. Which was not at all earned, but still nothing said. My bill came to $30.48 including the tip for me and my wife. I paid $30.50 cash and the waiter collected the other bill from my brother-in-law. We sat and talked for a few while we waited for the waiter to return the credit card to my brother-in-law.
As we started to leave, the waiter returned and handed me the bill sleeve and said the gratuity was already added. I chuckled to myself thinking he was bringing me my two cent change, Opened the sleeve and $30.00 was inside. I ask what was this, and the waiter looked at me funny just walked away. Now I am thinking why and how did my brother-in-law pay my bill. We all got up and was leaving our table, my wife and I were almost to our car when my mother called us to come back inside because the waiter said we did not pay our bill...? I returned and ask to speak to the manager. The manager came over and I explained what happened and pointed to a security camera over our table. I said I paid $30.50 for our meal and $30.00 was returned and all that was said was "the gratuity was already added." I said to the manager, "I did not say anything about the rude waiter, I did not say anything about the over cooked food and I did pay my bill. Go review the security camera and you will see I put one $20.00 one $10.00 and two quarters in the sleeve. The manager said "no he will not review the cameras and I could leave and not come back... I took out more change from my pocket and tossed another fifty cents on the table and left.
All this was over fifty cents the waiter lost as part of the gratuity. It was all on the camera, but ok I will not come back!
Delicious place, great baked items. Little out of the way and won't deliver even though I've been a customer since their first location. The guy was pretty rude about it, too, so that's why the loss of a star. Otherwise, FANTASTIC and worth the drive (for now).
They have beautiful cakes but it was too sweet for me. The second time I visit this place I was looking to sit down and have a coffee, they gave us to go cups and they had a little table on the side. Never had dinner so can t review
The entrees were good, as per usual. However, I get suckered into the desserts every single time, and am always disappointed. The cakes are dry or overpowered by the amount of icing, the cookies are only so-so, to say nothing of being terribly overpriced. Back to the main items, ordered the caprese salad only to find they had decided that very night to change it. Less basil, less balsamic. Why mess with an awesome salad? Change it back! ok - back over to the bakery - whats the deal with the ex-gestapo officer? There is an older lady who always has a sour expression, seems impatient with customers (and employees) and generally acts like she would rather be somewhere else. Must be a relative.
The kind of bakery that is rare, using only the freshest best ingredients, real butter, real traditional recipes, bows European and American. And that's just the bakery. The restaurant menu is incredible, not like any place else, and they have catering as well. It's one of my favorite places.
Best dessert in town! Get ya self a ravioli while you are in, stop for a macaroon or a lovely thick slice of Strawberry Swiss roll cake on the way out. Good all around, reminds me of growing up in southern Italy
