This was an absolute great tour! I had never heard of Town Branch but it was close to our hotel so I thought I d give it a shot...and I m glad I did! Not only did they have bourbon, rum and gin, but they also had craft brews to sample. Mercer and Woodrow guided our tour and they were amazing, had our group laughing the whole time and we learned a ton. I highly recommend taking this tour, you will not be disappointed.

Took the Twilight Tour and was blown away. Our tour guide, Woodrow, is the best guide I ve ever had on any adventure. Not only was he knowledgeable about all the products, the company s beginnings and the beer & bourbon making process, you could see, feel and hear the passion he has for it all! Thanks Woodrow and the entire Alltech/Lexington Brewing Company for giving me such a great time!

A great distillery and brewery. Best service of any distillery we visited on the bourbon trail. Woodrow was a great tour guide and extremely passionate. Thanks again for a great experience. Please pass on this review to Woodrow and tell him he's welcome at Castel Grisch Winery in Watkins Glen, NY anytime!

The "tour" part of this stop on the KY Bourbon Trail (this is Town Branch) was rather unimpressive.... but you get 4 sample tickets and pick from 9 products. They brew beer and make bourbon, so you have to strategize a bit. Between my husband and I, we tried 2 beers and 3 bourbons... everything was good, and we brought home a bottle of the Town Branch and the Pearse Lyons Reserve!

3 employees standing around when we came in. I asked if we could do a tasting and staff said the next one was in 40 minutes. I didn t want to do tour, just the tasting, and these 3 employees weren t doing anything else.

I have never been told that I would have to wait 40 minutes for a tasting at any other distillery in the US or even on wine tours in Napa especially with 3 employees standing around ....Unfortunate experience.

Let me start by saying: Excellent bourbon.

Let me start by saying: Excellent bourbon.
My wife and I took their "tour" which was very small, and odd. We visited 2 rooms total, and that was that. Tour guides' personality was a bit dry for my taste. But the tasting offerings were quite nice, and we purchased 2 bottles. Not sure I'm familiar with them, or if they offer their product around here, but I will be looking!

Awesome place to visit. We stopped here on our 2nd honeymoon trip, and really enjoyed the tour. The worst part was only being able to sample 4 beer or Bourbons... Too hard of a choice to make! But the brew matter came out to sign our bottles of Bourbon and whisky, nice personal experience.

I wasn't able to get into a tour due to not booking ahead, but a helpful woman gave me a quick tasting anyway, and I ended up buying a bottle of their classic. This place is busy but the staff seem good at prioritizing. Only sad I didn't plan better so that could've seen the distillery. Make reservations!

Really great place. I was the only one there and Susan still gave me a tour of the whole facility. Not a company making gimmicky spirits and beers like so many I've had. Definitely dedicated to making quality beverages. Highly recommend stopping in for a tour.

We went on a super cold day, thankfully most of the tour is inside. LOVED the two tasting experiences, one of their different ales and one of their bourbons. They were very knowledgeable so we all were able to choose the correct samples to taste. And our guide had a pure love for bourbon so he made it an interesting tour as well. One of the shorter tours on the bourbon trail but definitely worth trying out. Beautiful place!

We have visited many distilleries in the State.
Their tour is $10.00 per person. The tour itself takes about 10 minutes where Buffalo Trace, Makers Mark, or Four Roses might be 45 minutes. Four Roses and Buffalo Trace are free.
What you do get is a good sampling of their beer or bourbon.
If you are in Lexington and need something to do for a hour this might be for you.

We enjoyed the tour. It was a shorter tour but we liked learning a little about both beer and bourbon. They gave us tasting tokens to choose what we wanted to taste. We're shared to get more tastes. At the end they made everyone a sample dessert drink that was fabulous. My only complaint was that they need more help in the gift shop. We had to wait quite awhile to check out, but wasn't really a problem.

What is true is this is a microbrewery, and given the urban site, you won't see the rickhouses that other tours do.
But ... here is an interesting point ..
This tour does have an extensive tasting offering with the tour .. you'll get to choose a few, so be aware to not use all tokens at once in just the flavored beers tasting room!
What was a fun finale was the sundowner .. very Tasty!

Susan was an incredible tour guide. What made this tour interesting wasn't so much about how they make their brews and spirits, but what sets them apart. Yummy options for tasting with well informed and friendly staff.

After multiple visits, this remains one of my favorite stops on the Bourbon Trail and in Kentucky as a whole. Friendly, inviting atmosphere, great interaction between patrons and staff each time. The great variety of beers to test are fun and interesting, and the after dinner drink is one of the best I've ever tasted. I'll always make time for this stop in Lexington. It's well worth it.

This was not one of the places on our list of places to go; however, it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Kelly was our guide. If you get her don t let her youth fool you. She is one of the most knowledgeable and best guides I ve ever had. Their single barrel is one of the smoothest bourbons I ve ever had. Great experience!

Of all of the stops on the bourbon trail this is my favorite!! Del was an awesome tour guide personable and funny. You have the opportunity to sample beers , bourbons, rum, gin and my favorite Bluegrass Sundown (which should not be missed). Also, they give discounts to veterans and thank you for your service! Very well done!

Great little tour. Having done most of the Bourbon Trail this was a different. This place does beer and spirits. Mainly bourbon. The tour was $12 and we had Susan. She was great. Very friendly and fun. Tastings were good and everyone got a desert liquor of sorts that was fantastic. Especially after beer and bourbon had happened. Defiantly a fun worth while tour!

Great tour by George! Very informative. A small operation, so it was not very crowded. There was no option for a tasting without doing the tour as well, but tour went through brewery and distillery parts. Great beers and whiskeys!

A group of us visited this distillery as the first stop of our day on the Kentucky Bourbon Tour. We enjoyed the facilities and had a great tour guide. However, when we went into the bourbon purchasing room a young arrogant dark haired bearded man sauntered in behind the counter acting like he owned the place. I tried to make light conversation with him asking him if he was picking out one of his favorite bourbons upon which he just turned and walked away. Very poor customer service!

Later while standing in the parking lot deciding where we wanted to go to lunch he walked by with an associate and commented that I was drunk. Again very rude! I do not know many people that get drunk on a couple of sips of whiskey and a couple of ounces of beer. I wonder why this guy works at a distillery if he doesn't like people sampling the product.

This guy needs to be trained in customer service or placed somewhere where he does not come in contact with people.

Of all of our stops on the "Whiskey Trail" this was the friendliest and least commercial.
On entering we mentioned that we were not interested in a tour but wanted to know if they had items for sale at the distillery that we would not be able to get elsewhere. We were invited in for a tasting (at no charge) and ended up buying a bottle of all four items that we tried.
Incidentally, the Blue Door BBQ restaurant is nearby and deserves a visit also.

We enjoyed this visit because they brew beer AND are a distillery so it was a nice distinction from the other distilleries. The facility was under construction and which caused a few minor obstacles. In addition, I do not think they limit the size of their tours. Our group was really large and barely fit into the beer tasting room (I don't think this room was growing due to construction). Our guide was was informative, but I did not "feel" his passion.

Great tasting spirits and beers. Smaller professional operation that competes among the big companies. Cheers to our guide Woodrow who was amazing. Also an amazing story of the founder Dr. Lyons.

Town Branch distillery was our final stop of three...

Town Branch distillery was our final stop of three on the bourbon trail during a quick weekend visit. We concluded this was the best tour of the three, Dale was an excellent tour guide. He kept everyone entertained and managed to field questions with good information. Definitely could tell he was well informed. They are in the process of expanding, so there is construction going on. We still got to see the brewery and the distillery. As others have pointed out, choose wisely on your tastings, you only get four tastings, yet have about 10 products to choose from. This is far more selection to choose from than other stops on the bourbon trail. Definitely a stop to make on the bourbon trail!

We did the Bourbon Trail for the second time. This distillery wasn't part of the Trail 6 years ago when we first went so we were excited to see something new. This place did not dissapoint! We have done a lot of distillery tours and this one was one of the best. They showed all the steps to make bourbon from sour mash to bottling. Then, they show you how they brew beer, so cool! We didn't know that this company was the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale place until we got there, what a great surprise!! The tour ends with a tasting and I have to say, they do a good job! We tried beers, bourbons, rums, and the dessert drink is to die for! I read a review complaining about quality and smells, ignore that, please! You smell the smells of distilling and brewing, you see the sites that go with them. This bourbon wasn't my favorite but it was still damn good!
