Killing healthy animals for no reason and then hiding, ignoring to answer what they did. Many deaths over the years, many wrong surgeries. Everyone knows this clinic doesnt have reputation other then horror stories

My cat Naoumy had a miscarriage 5 days ago and the babies were dead in her uterus. The case needed quick action to avoid further complications I just phoned the clinic and explained the case to Doctor Mehdi who tempted me and scheduled on the spot an appointment for emergency surgery at night . I dealt before with many vet clinics but for me this clinic is the best in Dubai as of the full attention they give to the cases and their team friendly behaviour from the reception to the nursing people. Dr Mehdi did an amazing job and was calling me every hour to keep me updated with my cat s health status. A big THANK YOU to Dr Mehdi and all the friendly staff. Btw , the clinic is not commercial at all and I highly recommend ABVC clinic to all people who care about their pets.

It was my first time to visit this clinic. I took my rabbit Ashton cause he had a seizure. I was told that there would be an additional charge as it was an emergency, but in the end I was not charged the extra.
Reception staff was very polite and helpful. Veterinarian David was knowledgeable and very gentle with Ashton. We were prescribed with the medicine, which I had to give during four days.
My rabbit is feeling good now, and no seizures at all.

I would like to share my recent experience: I took a poor stray cat with a badly broken femur to ABVC, I was charged for the surgery but the hospitalization charges were waived. I know that ABVC is committed to animals and their welfare.

ABVC also has a free TNR programme for unfortunate strays and that makes me respect them.

The entire team is polite and kind and I highly recommend ABVC.

My name is Varvara. About two months ago, my mother and I picked up a kitten nearby the Mall of the Emirates. He was in a terrible state, parasites in the wound on the muzzle, pus accumulation in many places throughout the body, in general, was bad. We first came to the first clinic that was found, but there they refused and offered to go to another. So we got to know ABVC.
The kitten was under the supervision of Dr. Alexandra and her assistant Adela . We would like to thank them with all our heart for the brilliantly done work, for giving a second chance to a little life and giving us hope for his happy future. A wonderful clinic, amazing doctors with golden hands! the result can be estimated from the photo. Thanks a lot to Dr. Alexander, her assistant Adela and ABVC!

I want to say thank again to Dr. Mehdi and all his team at ABVC veterinary clinic for your amazing work again.

Our dog Sooty is nearly 17 years old, so she has had a good innings.

10 months ago Sooty was diagnosed with cancer of the spleen.

I posted the story about 10months ago regarding her situation.

Thankfully Sooty made a full recovery, and continued to be her usual stubborn grumpy self,so we knew the operation was a success.

Because of Sooty s age we always knew the cancer could come back, so this has been something in the back of our minds.

Our number one aim was to make sure she isn t in pain, which we achieved. Our second aim was to make sure she witnessed the birth of our second child (Amari) .
Because she has been a
custodian for my first child (Alia).

Amari arrived on Xmas eve and they have been inseparable ever since

Last week Sooty s health started to deteriorate. She wasn t walking properly , hardly eating and was randomly screaming in pain.

So my wife and I started to prepare for the worst for Sooty s final sleep.

As much as a difficult task it is, this is definitely the hardest thing any dog owner will do.

I booked the appointment with the clinic , for Sooty s final passage.

When I arrived at the clinic Dr Mehdi examined Sooty, and his prognosis was different to what we expected.

He prescribed some medication and told me to come back in a couple of days, for further investigations.

During this time Sooty made a fully recovery and was back to normal.

My wife said Sooty just fancies Dr Mehdi and that s why she is back to normal

However it s not good news, Dr Mehdi informed me that Sooty has suspected cancer in spine which has been causing her the pain.
Due to her age and the location where the legion is on the spine, a biopsy can t be taken.

We can manage the pain temporary, until it gets to the stage where we will have to say goodbye to her, which will between 3-6months Inshallah.

Sooty is our little warrior; who has had one of her eyes removed, Spleen removed due to cancer, arthritis,a few teeth removed and now she has bone cancer.

Seems she isn t ready to leave us just yet.

Again I want to thank ABVC vets for giving us the chance to make lots more memories with Sooty and the of rest family.

The moral of this story, is never give up on your loved ones until you have no choice.

As Sooty is now Amari s dog he sends his thanks and love the most with Atty Thompson.

I m already impressed by the professionalism and friendly attitude of everyone at the clinic! And especially in these times they are handling the situation very well. I think it s great to make everyone book what they need ahead and having one person in the clinic at one time! Hope we are soon back to normal times! Keep safe!

This is my all time favorite clinic in Dubai for everything pet needs. Their nurses and doctors are some of the most professional, informed, sweetest, and kindest that Ive ever worked with. They keep a detailed history that always allows for a smooth visit every time. Sylvester and I have been visiting for years, and your furry children will always be in the best care! Whether its a regular checkup, or an emergency, they're available, responsive, and always make sure to put your mind at ease. When you don't have kids, your pets are your kids. Imagine how heartbroken you would be if a doctor misdiagnosed and mishandled your pet/child. You'd be fuming! Now imagine your pet/child died..i'm sorry for planting these thoughts in your head..but we lost Kat to ABVC Pet's Necessities l.l.c. / ABVC Kennels & Cattery llc unprofessional and under par treatments. As her family all we asked for was an apology or an acknowledgement and received neither. PLEASE, if you're reading this do not take your babies/pet there..the reviews are horrendous and their attitude is appalling!

I would like to record my appreciation to all the Doctors and staff at ABVC for the tremendous support rendered to me over the past 7 years in connection with TNR and assistance with homing abandoned kittens. Without ABVC support I do not know what I would have done. I have had the privilege to deal with Doctors Metje and Michael who are so dedicated and exceptional with all my cats and kittens. They have given great advice about various feline illnesses which have helped me look after my stray cat population. The front office staff are welcoming, respectful and ever so polite. I have been using this place since 2010. Always had very positive and pleasant experiences with Dr Mehdi, Dr Isabel and Dr Metje. The staff on reception were also friendly and helpful. Had a very bad experience in 2016 with another vet who still works at this surgery. I complained and felt the owners did listen and respond appropriately. Still get anxious taking my pet now which is a real shame as prior to that experience, it was really great and never a concern.

Always helpful, they answer questions efficiently and will make sure to give you the correct answers to any of your questions. best clinic around town.

Do you guys do medical care for birds? Such as parrotlets and small birds?

I used Al Barsha Veterinary Clinic relocations services for the second time this year and found both experience FIRST CLASS. If you are relocating to Oman from the UAE (and back again....) I would recommend ABVC without any hesitation. We moved to Muscat in Jan and returned to the UAE in October. ABVC looked after both moves. They knew the procedures at the border and was very proactive. They have a great relationship with Al Qurum Veterinary Clinic in Oman where their service was also very good. Hats off to Lydia. She is great.... Keep up the good work ABVC

Al Barsha Veterinary clinic is the best in Dubai. The care and compassion dedicated by the staff towards Pets is beyond words. Dr Ellen is very dedicated and welcoming. Amazing service. I have been with them for 5 years now. The staff and Doctors are incredible and always go out of their way to help you out.

This place only cares about the almighty dollar. They could care less about animals unless there is an owner with money falling out of their pockets attached to the other end of the leash or holding the cage.

I'm giving 1 star because there's no 0 option!

Apologies for the lengthy review, but I thought people need to be aware of what happened to us.

Our cat got sick and skinny suddenly, while I was on business trip, so my wife took her to this clinic as she went on panic mode and picked the one she remembered (as in the past we took our dogs there too).

She was asked immediately for 900aed consultation fee and 1500aed deposit "for treatments to cover for 2, max 4 days" they said. So she did pay.

They never told her what the charges would be and they agreed that we would be informed about any quotation, prior of executing any treatment, as it should be and as they stated later on, it's their practice. But instead, this never happened.

Yes, she did receive almost daily calls to let her know the conditions and overall improvements of the cat, and once back from my trip I went to visit the cat with my wife, the vet reassured us that there wouldn't be any additional charges as the money paid would cover. I thanked him, twice!

The cat was held for 6 days in total, so we would have expected max 3600 aed if we do the math right?

At the end, my wife goes to collect the cat, and she was given a bill where we had to pay ***additional*** 2400 aed. So in total, for 6 days, we were charge 4800aed!!!

My wife complained, and the bill was brought down immediately to 4300aed. Immediately.

Still, I went to the vet myself because all this didn't look reasonable to me, and tried to get more explanation: why weren't we informed???
Why so much cost???

I wrote a post on Facebook in our Pet lovers group too, to ask advices about the price. I got some replies, where some people thought it was too expensive and definitively unjust.

Conclusion:

The co-owner of the clinic called us and:

A) He lied to us stating my wife told the vet: "I don't need to know about the costs, please cure her no matter what";
B) The vet who assured about the fact that there wouldn't be additional cost, eventually denied everything;
C) Someone also stated that my wife was asked to collect the cat a day earlier??? This never happened!!!
D) To pay us back about our complain (and especially the post on FB where I simply asked for information, that they didn't particularly appreciate), the clinic removed the discount of 500 aed and gave us again the full price (4,800)!!!

So, we are pet lovers, we have cats and dogs, and I know by fact that there are vets out there who do the job for the sake of helping our beloved little friends.

This clinic, proved me effectively, that it's purely business oriented, thus I'll never, ever get 10ft closer to it again!

Again, we are honest people and had pets since I was a baby and consider them family. I felt I've been abused from the behavior and financial point of view.
I thought I would share...

Obviously I'm not the only one complaining about your customer and pets management as well as large use of word and lies to succeed in putting your opinion forward.
BUT.....I'm glad I wasn't the only one speaking up and sharing what you're really made of!!!!!!!

You have good luck with your "business", because this is what it is for you, based on abusing customer's love for their pets and a bunch of lies to protect yourselves from the judgement of the impacted pet lovers...

Thanks to ABVC for the genuine care of the animals. Their feb campaign to spay strays cats is a wonderful initiative and it shows their commitment to improve the situation of strays in Dubai. Still their service was amazing and very professional, and specially i want to thank Ivan for accommodating slots for everyone and his rapid and efficient communication to make the best of the campaign.You really make a difference!!!Thanks ABVC!

The worst clinic in terms of waiting time and staff response. Every visit there is a new vet.. they explain the issues in a very complicated way... it seems they are explaining to a fellow vet rather than a pet owner. If we had so much idea about the technicalities, you guys were not required.

I have been a client at this clinic for many years and I have to comment that Dr Mehdi is very professional and knowledgeable and you can see that he truly cares about our furry babies. He will never do a procedure unless absolutely necessary and he takes his time to explain everything in detail. I have been to a few of the clinics in Dubai over the years either due to my location or lack of appointments at Al Barsha Vets and as a result I have only entrusted Dr Mehdi to operate on my little one and have never been disappointed.

They are so good and honest. My dog is 4 years old and before Dr. Mehdi I realized that I spent more money in other clinics for the same treatment or they didn't use the situation for requesting more test or money.

I really trust this clinic's experience and honesty.

Took my new puppy..they diagnosed with distemper and said 80% he would die. They said they can try to save him for 10,000 aed but no promises. Took him to another doc near international city and that doctor guided me carefully how to take care at home. The little guy survived. He is 13months and has no scaring from it. No doubt God's will.

Very compassionate and friendly staff, except for the Dutch vet, as she had no control over the pet but the others have. Prices are the same as what you pay in Europe and so far, the service provided is the same. It's a shame to see some sad stories here but losing a pet is like losing a child, so putting your blame in to a review, especially when it's such an emotive topic, is wrong. There are other ways to resolve it, that will also keep your privacy.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!! Everyone in the community told me NOT to go here and I finally learned my lesson. I am not one to write reviews, but this is absolutely necessary so that other people are not subjected to this place and their practices. They will do everything in their power to upcharge you. You have to defend yourself at all times.

We sought for 2nd opinion at ABVC due to a negative experience at a neighbouring vet within Al Barsha and ABVC never disappoints. Dr. Alex and Dr. David are very professional, compassionate and they love their jobs. Our cat Tofu, suffered from cellulitis and was hospitalised in ABVC for a month - she is alive and is now on the mend because of them. These doctors and nurses who looked after Tofu never gave up on her. Rate wise, ABVC's rates are reasonable and cheaper compared to other clinics. My husband and I can rest well at night knowing that we have a reliable vet clinic we can go to for any concerns regarding our pets.

I was very happy to discover this veterinary clinic and Dr Mette who seems to love animals more than anything. The clinic is unpretentious and the staff are professional and super- helpful. I get the feeling that animals come well before commercial concerns here and I like that a lot!

My experience with Barsha vet has always been excellent in dealing with friendly professional receptionists as well as the vets . Regardless your own cats or strays they do take care and give professional advices and their spay a stray campaign in Feb is a great contribution to the stray population and I'm very impressed by their love and care for the animals and not just being a business minded vet like others .

One star is also too much for this clinic. Right from the reception, to the medical staff, all are cheats! My dog was suffering a TBI, and her chances of survival was evidently meager, despite which this clinic gave me hopes, admitted my dog and ripped my pockets apart. When I asked for the bill, I was shocked to see that they charged me emergency rates. I started calling the clinic, no doubt, right from 7:30am in the morning as my dog underwent this trauma at around 5am. But the moment they told me that seeing a vet anytime before 9am would incur emergency rates, which was double the normal, I decided to wait for a few minutes and even planned going to my office late as I didn't want to incur those extra charges. So, I literally sat doing nothing, but waiting for the doctor, until 9am just to avoid those emergency charges. The vet came in at 9:20 (later than what he was supposed to) and despite this when I was discharging my dog, they gave me a hefty bill claiming it as emergency charges. And when asked, they said the very fact you called us before 9am and we squeezed you in before other patients could start, the emergency charges became applicable. This was something that was totally unjustifiable but because I was already devastated with my dogs health, I decided to pay it off. They take undue advantage of people who are desperate and slaughter their wallets.

On the other hand, their treatment also was not worth it. I took my dog there to get treated, not to become worse. After being admitted for 3 days, I was charged AED 3,534.16/- with my dog ending up getting worse. On day one, my dog was with blood clots in only one eye and no movement in hind legs with lack of consciousness. Upon discharging, my dog ended up with blood in both her eyes, lack of consciousness and focus, no hind leg movement and SEIZURES. I was shocked! I felt it was better if I hadn't admitted her there.

After getting discharged from there, I took my pet to another hospital and met a very honest Doctor who told me it was best to put her to sleep as the chances of recovery and survival was very poor. It is hard to accept such an advice but I appreciate his honesty. If he wanted he too could have given me false hopes and kept the billing meter running. But he was good enough to tell me the truth from the 1st very moment. Had Al Barsha Veterinary Clinic too been honest, I would have not wasted this amount on my dog and more important I wouldn't have kept that poor soul suffering for 3 days. Just because she couldn't speak that doesn't mean she wasn't suffering. Who knows what pain she was going through internally on all those days! Putting her to sleep would have been the best decision in her favor, probably from day one.

Also Al Barsha Veterinary Clinic is very shady. If you ask them to share medical history or X-rays they always hesitate and give you lame excuses. I don't understand what's the reason to not share patient information with the owner but yes, I do see them being very secretive about it. May be they are scared that owners will get second opinions from other vets and discharge their pets from their clinic causing them to lose business?

Anyway, whatever it is, my whole experience with this clinic wasn't good. The receptionist and all the other admin staff (Ella and some Philipino guy) were very argumentative all throughout.

Feel free to message me back if anyone would like to see the bill to prove how they have ripped me apart by charging those unjustifiable emergency rates. I could alternatively also refer you to better honest doctors for your furry friends.

Also one thing to note, whenever anyone posts truthful negative reviews about them, they reply back with these words "Thank you for leaving a review. We take feedback very seriously; however, I m afraid we can not find a record or clients matching your name or details. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to help you wherever we can ...........". I am quite expecting them to reply back to my post with the same excuse!

THEY ARE LOSERS!

Not one to usually throw tantrums publicly, but in this case i need to share my horrible experience with ABVC vet clinic in Barsha. This is only after they repeatedly refuse to appologise for the way they treated my cat or admitting that their team has misdiagnosed and mishandled the case which ended up having to put the poor cat down.
kat was taken in for a routine check up in february. The team has taken the liberty to perform a procedure without my concent "ear flush".
Since then, she started having problems in her ear and developed an infection. One vet passed her on to another cuz they where going on "annual leave".
Over period of 3 months, she went back in 3 times as she was getting worse and worse. Same course of treatment repeated with more and more medication and antibiotics shoved down her ear and throat. No alternative course of treatment was offered.
After we thought enough is enough, the lack of compassion, the poor communication, the rush in examining her because of course there are few other "customers" outside waiting for next appointment, we took her elsewhere.
She was properly examined and vets told me that what probably started off as a puncture turned into a rapture of her ear membrane from the constant shoving of medication down her ear canal, something they would not have done had they properly diagnosed her in first place. This was irreversible damage and being an older cat, her chances of recovery was very low.
Months of going back and forth, thousands of dirhams in medication and hospitalisation, result was she had to be put down on 02 August.
I got in touch with ABVC clinic again, they investigated with the multiple vets that examined her , since she kept being passed around due to their inavailbity or whatever, and their response was " sorry for your loss, we did what we thought was best for Kat, we dont believe we did any wrong".
I might just have been unlucky with my experience, am sure they all qualified and what not. But there was a vast difference in treatment, attentiveness, professionalism and compassion i felt in the other clinic compared to what felt like a "business" with their clinic.
I cant help but feel this might have been avoided if they took more time and where more attentive in the way they handled this and maybe poor thing didnt have to get that sick
I am sharing so all dubai based pet owners are aware of this. I should have picked up on the red flags, i cant take it back now and for that am sorry and feel guilty. If it was a person, we could have accused them of malpractice. This is still a living being unfortunately with no voice and here the regulations arent strict enough on those who do them wrong.
Please feel free to share, something ive never asked before but id highly appreciate. If you know what else i can do please let me know as they wont even compensate me for some of the huge bills for useless procedures and meds they charged each visit.
