Not one to usually throw tantrums publicly, but in this case i need to share my horrible experience with ABVC vet clinic in Barsha. This is only after they repeatedly refuse to appologise for the way they treated my cat or admitting that their team has misdiagnosed and mishandled the case which ended up having to put the poor cat down.
kat was taken in for a routine check up in february. The team has taken the liberty to perform a procedure without my concent "ear flush".
Since then, she started having problems in her ear and developed an infection. One vet passed her on to another cuz they where going on "annual leave".
Over period of 3 months, she went back in 3 times as she was getting worse and worse. Same course of treatment repeated with more and more medication and antibiotics shoved down her ear and throat. No alternative course of treatment was offered.
After we thought enough is enough, the lack of compassion, the poor communication, the rush in examining her because of course there are few other "customers" outside waiting for next appointment, we took her elsewhere.
She was properly examined and vets told me that what probably started off as a puncture turned into a rapture of her ear membrane from the constant shoving of medication down her ear canal, something they would not have done had they properly diagnosed her in first place. This was irreversible damage and being an older cat, her chances of recovery was very low.
Months of going back and forth, thousands of dirhams in medication and hospitalisation, result was she had to be put down on 02 August.
I got in touch with ABVC clinic again, they investigated with the multiple vets that examined her , since she kept being passed around due to their inavailbity or whatever, and their response was " sorry for your loss, we did what we thought was best for Kat, we dont believe we did any wrong".
I might just have been unlucky with my experience, am sure they all qualified and what not. But there was a vast difference in treatment, attentiveness, professionalism and compassion i felt in the other clinic compared to what felt like a "business" with their clinic.
I cant help but feel this might have been avoided if they took more time and where more attentive in the way they handled this and maybe poor thing didnt have to get that sick
I am sharing so all dubai based pet owners are aware of this. I should have picked up on the red flags, i cant take it back now and for that am sorry and feel guilty. If it was a person, we could have accused them of malpractice. This is still a living being unfortunately with no voice and here the regulations arent strict enough on those who do them wrong.
Please feel free to share, something ive never asked before but id highly appreciate. If you know what else i can do please let me know as they wont even compensate me for some of the huge bills for useless procedures and meds they charged each visit.
