I really enjoyed this place even though I felt like I stepped into the hipster motherland. My friend and I shared the pernil, proccuto sandwiches, cinimon pretzel, lemonade and pursian nectar tea. The pernil sandwich had an aquired taste, if you are looking for something a bit spicy and hardy this item may be for you. Drinks weren't anything to race about. I LOVED the proccuto, light but filling and worth going back for.

Well, some dishes are so great it makes up for screwed up coffee. Lines and wait can be a bit long, however it s usually worth it. I love getting a fresh loaf of bread here and I love the BLT.

Things I liked about this place - vibe, specialty coffee, the Sammie, the toast, people watching

Things that annoyed me - the crowds, the people sitting across from having the most annoying conversation in the history of eating out, the scrambling to get a seat, and the fact they run out of Sammie's.

Seems more good than not. 3.75 stars.

I had such high hopes for this place as a long time baked and wired devotee but our experience with the manager, Sarah, completely ruined both this restaurant and their sister establishment for us. I ordered the Veggie #1 which should probably just be called the sweet potato sandwich. If you think it sounds like a healthy choice, think again. There were a few strips of red pepper and one small piece of "crispy kale". It was basically just massive pieces of potato on bread. I'm sure other things on the menu are quite good, but I certainly will not be back to try them. I took a bite one dissatisfying bite of this sandwich, which tasted like a thanksgiving leftovers sandwich missing all of the best components. I tried to send the sandwich back and spoke to Sarah, who told me she was not the manager (very odd, since everyone else who worked there said she was the manager) but that management was on site and that it is "against their policy" to take back food. I have worked in the food industry for over 15 years and have never heard of such a policy. She proceeded to to tell me that "if you went to McDonald's and didn't like the way they made the chicken, they wouldn't take it back." Umm, I came here instead of McDonald's because I assumed the quality and service would be superior. I honestly was so appalled that I didn't even know how to respond. I'm not a confrontational person and didn't want to ruin brunch for the rest of my party so I simply asked for her name. She responded, "it's Sarah, feel free to complain about me." Again, after 15+ years in the food industry and a lifetime of dining experiences, I have never received this treatment. Service industry aside, the way Sarah acted towards a fellow human was disappointing.

Food is good. Bread is fresh. Cold brew on nitro is a nice touch. I wish they would tell you they put butter on the bread before they griddle it. I got the vegetarian with cheese so it could be vegan, but the butter was on there. Not a big deal, but something that should be identified.

Really enjoy this place. Great open space design. And the espresso (and the espresso machine are the main attraction). Their baked goods are also excellent. The vegetarian chili is the best and the bread served with it is just perfect. Will make A Baked Joint a frequent stop.

Great-tasting coffee and eats. Love the fact that there are several food options to choose from a clearly well-crafted and curated menu. I tried the breakfast sandwich and it was delightful. I also got cold brew coffee which tasted perfect. The atmosphere here is great, a coffee shop which I ve never found the likes of in DC- very big and spacious with high ceilings and lots of comfy chairs and sofas to sit on. The fact that they have pizza-movie Thursdays and other cool events is just the icing on the cake. Seems like a Baked Joint will be a new hangout spot for me :)

My first and last visit.

My first and last visit.
Placing my order, I asked the guy if I could taste the Curry Chicken Salad. He said, no.
I told him, I wanted to see how heavy handed they are with the curry.
I ordered the sandwich. Not bad but it only came with two half slices of orange as a garnish. A little bit of tossed greens would be nice.
Better customer service is in order.

The coffee is awesome. The bread is great. The breakfasts and lunch sandwiches are amazing. The vibe is kind of DC version of hipster, if there is such a thing. I'm so glad I stumbled on this place.

What an AWESOME find! We went for a bike ride in the city and needed to get breakfast before heading back. We looked this one up and only went because it was the only thing open. I am so glad that was the case. I can't imagine having missed this place. The food was delicious. The location is super cool and the service was AWESOME!

This sister shop is smooth (thanks baked & wired). Spacious interior with a variety of tables and seating. High ceilings with an open kitchen that blends in with the chic interior. Live music on Friday nights and some delicious pizza options on the menu - yes to the caramelized onion and goat cheese. Get your latte-fix here and read a book since there's no cafe wifi. Part of this 5-star review is the cafe music that can be pretty shazam worthy. One memorable afternoon, they had on a 00's R&B playlist. Golden.

Good food options a bit pricey for their desserts and baked goods. Due to such high prices the baked goods sit out for more than 2 hours.

Try their cooked food at least you'll know it's fresh.

5 stars isn't enough. We had alot of the items and when someone thought something was too sweet another person would say it's awesome. Everyone agrees that the Sammie's are just amazing. The line moves fast and service was nice.

Fantastic breakfast. My wife got the creme brulee French toast which was almost more of a bread pudding. I for an egg and sausage sammy. When I got it I was surprised to see no sausage with the egg, until I realized it was baked into the biscuit. It was delicious- fluffy and cheesy with bits of sausage.

This is one of the few places in DC where you can see smart, professional people who didn t get dressed in the dark.

The coffee is excellent.

The music is current.

The treats are tasty.

But the prices are kind of high. At least you get what you pay for. Excellent place to stop for coffee and look at attractive strangers.

On my quest to find the best coffee around I came across A Baked Joint via Instagram. After reviewing the menu online I knew what I wanted. The food was amazing and oh man that sammie was spectacular. If you like breakfast food at all hours of the day, this is the place for you. The staff is super friendly and high energy which is what I want in a coffee spot that I'm going to sit down in. Looking forward to trying some of the other menu items that are available only on certain days. Quick walk from Gallery Place metro station or the P6 bus will let you off on the corner.

All of the joy of going to Baked & Wired without the painfully long line. The weekend brunch options are to die for, and you never know what kind of interesting espresso options or unique baked goods they will have on a given day. Wonderful.

Love this place. It's quite popular and crowded on the weekends. Might be hard to find seating for a group. Recently tried the french toast. It's delicious and huge. Recommend all the sandwiches, biscuits, and cookies and bars. Coffee is great too.

again with nothing to say, more than incredible! I need to come and try the pizza to finish dying! Served fast, organized! and in the picture it does not appear of bread pumpkin ginger, I could not wait for the rest to come to eat it wow!

Really good coffee and tea. Tasty and unique food make it worth grabbing a bit to eat to eat as well; I can personally attest to the sandwiches (try the fried green tomato!), bread, and other baked treats.

Only reason for the 4 stars is the service. I've had multiple drink orders (normally some kind of tea) that were forgotten.

Wonderful, Delicious, and Clean! This was my first time visiting a baked joint, and ill be back next week! The place was clean, airy, has a great vibe, and the coffee, entree, and desserts were amazing!

Parking is at a premium however, don't let that keep you from going, because you won't be disappointed. Kudos to the staff and the food!

One of my preferred spots for cafe food. Nice place to relax, people watch, eat good, etc. I will be back with my relatives. The bill won't shock you. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.

LOVE this place. Wonderful cinnamon rolls on Tues/Sat/Sun and French toast is a treat. Stumptown coffee is delicious as well. Get there early on the weekends for these treats, they sell out fast!

I work right next door at the bike shop and I gotta say, I spend way too much money on cold brew, focaccia bread, and biscuit sammies. All totally worth it though. I'm not sure that I've been disappointed by anything they've made me yet, but these are definitely my 3 go to's. I will say, try and avoid the morning and lunch rush (especially on weekends). This place can get crazy crowded!

I stopped in for a coffee while catching up on a project on my laptop. Service was pleasant enough, and there was a fern pattern in the foam of my latte. No problem with a table, and plenty of seats outside (it's May). Trendy music, open conversation and people into their own things. Crowd seems to be in mid 20s with occasional older interlopers. Can't figure out of they have WiFi. (Well, I didn't ask.)

One of the best bakeries in town. Their breakfast sandwiches are too good for words. The kitchen was clearly designed by a professional chef, which is surprisingly rare for the industry. Ultra fast and friendly service, delicious savory and sweet items. Will definitely be back to explore beverages and more of the menu items.

Holy pastry of deliciousness! Amazing biscuits (got the meat/cheese), cinnamon roll and iced coffee. Long line but moves swiftly and plenty of seats outside/inside. Worth waiting in the line!

A surprisingly unpleasant place to have coffee. Atmosphere is dismal - I can't imagine what kind of social interactions they were imagining when designing it. The coffee and food is pretty decent though.

Walking into the baked joint for the first time I really liked the environment! It s a place you can have both a chill hangout and a business meeting. The floor plan is very modern, open and simple. We went during lunch time and it was very busy. The way the tables and seating are set is very open ( vs a traditional way or a booth seating ) there was only one spot to seat so we didn t have much choice. They take your order and call your name and when done you have to place your tray in select area. Overall it was a good experience and we enjoyed our time. Oh! They have amazing cookies there.

Great vibe! Even better coffees, teas and menu offerings. If you're day-tripping in DC, add this spot for a refresh and revival. One of the few fast-casual restaurants with truly creative, satisfying sandwich offerings.

Went there for brunch as recommended by a DC local friend. I could immediately tell that the place is patronized by trendy local crowds for reason. All the foods we had were amazing and their service was indeed wonderful.

Food is good, but it seems they never serve their full menu. French toast on weekends only, pastries on tuesday Thursdays, etc. Very disappointing to hear that your top choices aren't available today. Won't make scrambled eggs, only fried eggs.

Most delicious place we ate breakfast at in DC, super pet friendly, amazing staff, and they know their coffee almost as well as their bread. We took lots of food due to generous portions on the drive home. Little bites of heaven, every crumb.

Update on 7/27/2018: the French toast is super tasty. I have to update my review from 3 to 4 stars.

They have coffee from two of my favorite roasters! I was very excited to see Sweet Bloom and Intelligentsia. I have not seen Sweet Bloom in a coffee shop outside of Denver. Their coffee is made very well and their pastries are delicious. They have mini croissants! They were busy, but the line moved quickly. I will definitely be coming back and I recommend trying this place out if you haven't.
