Break fast sandwich was bomb and the coffee was excellent
We were 4 people. We went there for breakfast. The restaurant is clean. The music sets you in a good mood. The food was OK. I ordered "just a biscuit" with butter and jam. Without the jam it seemed tasteless. The portion is small but fatty. Also i had a cinnamon roll which was delicious but really heavy and i unfortunately realized that during the day. Ginger tea is very tasty. My sister had a smoked salmon sandwich along with coffee which she also describes as OK. My other sister had the steelcut oatmeal which she loved, and Nutella and butter that were satisfying. Finally my husband had a delicious feta and spinach croissant, with fresh orange juice. In total the experience was good. Surely recommended for a quick bite although the service is relatively slow.
Very unique coffee shop. The staff was very friendly and the coffee are not run of the mill beans. I think my only issue is the the cups of delicious coffee are too small... I want more. The food was very good and everything was perfectly cooked. They are not afraid to heap on the goodness. If you want a quieter experience go to the back and up the stairs. Great spot to meet and do a little business.
Gets crowded in the mornings on the weekend but definitely worth the wait.
Highly recommend the meat biscuit sammie with one of their pour overs.
Also highly recommend grabbing something sweet while you re still in line. I sure am glad I did.
So good I went twice when staying in DC. The cappuccino was strong and velvety. The Sammies were also really delicious and reasonably priced.
It is also a great space to bring your laptop or a book but it pretty busy all morning it seems.
I love this place. Really good bread, great food good atmosphere.
Great food, original menu with awesome standbys. I wanted to try everything. Energetic ambience.
Met up with a friend here; it's about a 10 minute walk from gallery place metro stop. Doesn't have an obvious street sign outside, so it's hard to spot. The atmosphere inside was relaxing, open, and casual with high ceilings, laid back/chill servers, and gender neutral bathrooms! Also had a pretty big sitting area.
Wonderful coffee shop, with great drinks and food. The mango green tea was delicious. They also have a wonderful open floor plan and calm music.
Great space for coffee and pastries in the morning and drinks and/ or pizza at night!
Definitely stopping in again and hopefully I can make it in time for the French toast.
The savory oatmeal is the best breakfast food I've ever had. I live about an hour and a half away and still come down to get it when I can
Great small bites with a bunch of flavor, priced well under anything nearby. The Breakfast Sammie is consistently great and you can get it nearly all day.
Came here for breakfast. They have a good open area outside and inside for people to sit and relax with their food and drink. It's also a great place to bring your dogs as the outside sitting area offers lots of open space. Their food was really good and their coffee was pretty okay, nothing special.
I came here on a Saturday morning for the creme brulee French toast, and I also got a cinnamon roll to go. There was a line when I first arrived, and I waited probably a little less than ten minutes. I ordered the toast with out bacon and was asked if I wanted an egg instead, so I said yes! That was a pleasant surprise. Anyway, I paid and found a seat. For a Saturday morning around 8AM, the place was quite packed! My name was called pretty soon after, and I ate my French toast. The toast had almost a bread pudding consistency, not really like toast at all. It was a really odd French toast in my opinion. There were a lot of strawberries and blueberries, and they definitely did not skimp on the fruit which I was very happy about. There was almost too little bread for the amount of fruit. The toast wasn't too sweet, though I did ask for the syrup on the side (I think they usually put it on top? I assumed it usually comes with syrup so I asked for it on the side, but it occurred to me that maybe they don't usually douse it with syrup, I'm not sure). Anyway, the portions were acceptable but it was also $12 pre-tax. The cinnamon roll was warm when they gave it to me and I took a bite; it was very sweet but I liked that it was warm! I ate the rest later that day as a snack, and it of course wasn't as good as hat morning but it was still quite tasty. Both were $19.25 post-tax which is quite pricey for what I got.
Loooove this place. The staff are kickass and service is quick for the long lines. My only feedback is that the drinks were way too sweet.
Amazing bakery located in Downtown DC selling baked goods and delicious sandwiches. I ve been countless times and the food and staff are always on point. I ve tried most of the menu at this point as I live very close to them and I haven t had anything I ve been disappointed with. The only thing I will say is that it gets incredibly crowded on weekends so be prepared to wait to place your order.
Additionally their pizza nights on Thursday and Friday are really special. They hand make the dough, and they taste incredible.
Good food. Decent coffee. Staff is always friendly.
The food is delicious: the spinach and cheese quiche was incredible, the ham and egg sandwich was quite tasty (the baguette was the best part, as you would expect from a bakery), the sourdough goes great with the bread, and the zucchini bread is surprisingly addicting. Service is brisk and friendly, although you will have to fight for somewhere to sit on a weekend. I would definitely recommend this place, although you may have to make plans to get take-out and go somewhere else to eat.
No wifi. Otherwise, cool place -- full of hipsters, if you're into that kind of thing.
It s okay, but if you want your coffee at a reasonable speed, then avoid this place.
Nice place to grab coffee and food. Their biscuits are to die for. This place can be crowded in the mornings.
Biscuit Sammie is incredible loved the set up at this establishment. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick bite to eat in the morning
This bakery/cafe is modern, airy, and light. The atmosphere is nice. Unfortunately, I had some very poor service during my very first visit. I understand that sometimes things go wrong, but a positive attitude by the staff can make all the difference in the world. During my visit, I ordered a pastry and coffee. After about 15 minutes, I had finished my pastry and asked the barista about my coffee, but he did not even acknowledge me, so I went to the cashier. Although he took my initial order, he said he did not get my name for my order, so no coffee. I asked for a refund, but the barista hearing the conversation then made the coffee, however, the cashier took the coffee, and poured it in the sink, handing me my money back matter of factly, no apology, nothing, "next customer please." There are too many other nice places that treat you at least like a human. I will not be returning.
A bit pricey but given the location and the decent food, not unreasonably so. It's popular, so expect a wait in line to order and perhaps to sit. Vegetarian but not vegan friendly.
Really enjoyed the food selection, and loved catching up with friend here.
Nice cafe with big space to just chill Nd work on ur stuff
Delicious. Had such a phenomenal experience. Our food came quickly and was excellently made. Would come back to dc just for this!!
Tried only once, so, my review is only for the Breakfast biscuit. Just beware that the biscuit has intense herbal taste and your mouth may not like the feeling it leaves. I had to eat chocolate to get that flavors out. I'll stick with the sweets next time.
Awesome coffee, great staff. Jazz on Thursday and Friday nights
Smoke salmon open-faced sandwich and the fried green tomato sandwich are really good. Good herbal tea and iced chai as well. Decent amount of seating space. Friendly staff!
A great, vibrant place for a lovely biscuit (savoury with egg); a piece of cake and a pretty damn good coffee! Great place, one of my fav coffee shops!!
Biscuits are incredibly good and a must try. It's a great hangout spot for a bite and a coffee. I havent particularly loved any of the other foods. The take out baked good do look tempting.
Cozy spot that plays live jazz on Fridays. The atmosphere was nice. Unfortunately there were no vegan options so I couldn't try any of the desserts. I would still go back to relax and have a cup of coffee.
Lots of seating at tables, street parking. Sammie biscuit was good enough for 3 days in a row. Dishes go in the bin when done.
The food was good. The atmosphere pleasant. But man was it hard to find! The only sign was a tiny label on the front door. Almost impossible to find.
Definitely pricey, but the coffee is awesome and the prosciutto breakfast sammie is amazing!
Food was great service was rude, rude, rude. The two young ladies at the register took my order and obviously overcharged me. When I protested they continued taking my money and said I'll get you a receipt. I got the receipt and saw they had charged me for three biscuits instead of 2. All I got was a 'my bad' and they sent me over to a manager who knew nothing about my situation. When I looked back at the two young ladies they were pointing and laughing at me. A free tip for the management of this establishment: train your employees to respect their customers, not point and laugh at them when the staff made a mistake.
So happy to have a neighborhood bakery. Food is good too!
Great place to buy fresh bread and the biscuit sammies are so soft and flavorsome! Weekend mornings are really busy so go in the week or very early.
Immediately after entering, I was a little surprised because many people were lined up, but the line goes smoothly. If it's not a take-out, it might be better to reserve a seat before ordering?
There is a menu print at the entrance, so even if you are not good at English, look slowly and line up!
Food is really wonderful. Beware tho, there are no plain biscuits here . There are ingredients baked into the biscuits. I had hoped for a country ham on a plain biscuit, didn't happen. The NC country ham sammich was delicious! Croissants were amazing too! Coffee and teas are very tasty and unique. It's a great place, just know if you're hunting plain biscuits they don't live here.
Very cool spot and good is amazing (loved the biscuit!)
Absolutely amazing food, quick service and a cool atmosphere! Veggie #1 sandwich is the best sandwich ever!!! Will be coming here again
Great latte. I always get the breakfast sammie, you won't be disappointed. Also, I highly recommend the kiesch
Exquisite baked goods, coffee and WiFi throughout the cafe. The larger expansion of Georgetown's Baked and Wired.
ugh, i want to love this place. cool space, delicious coffee. but the service is annoyingly slow and they dont seem bothered.
This place has everything you want a coffee shop to have: great drinks, amazing pastries, friendly staff, plenty of seating... It's a great spot for a quick snack or a nice lunch! I love their 'pernil' sandwich. I wasn't expecting to see that puerto rican classic there! But it is amazing. Their loafs of bread are great to take home. My favorite dessert is their Nutella brownie!
Very good for coffee and bread, usually full on weekend brunch.
Top notch food and pastries, try the NC Country Ham Breakfast sandwich, you won't regret it! Staff is cool, digs are nice, and the food is good. What more do you need? Go there, try it.
This place is awesome. They have unique food and awesome coffee.
I do enjoy coming here, but it is frequently busy and very tough to find seats. Love their biscuits and bringing their focaccia back home though!
Great ambiance and definitely more spacious than Baked and Wired
What a find! Based on my experience, you must try this place! All fresh ingredients. Made with love.
This restaurant is a great place for breakfast, brunch and lunch. It has vegetarian and vegan options.
Great prices and great design. It's perfect for a quick breakfast, has a ton of seating, and has unique coffee drinks like the nitro. The atmosphere is perfect in this minimalist coffee shop.
Great location with delicious drinks and food! Chose the NC Country Ham and it was by far one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. Nicely complimented with the grapefruit juice.
A great place for breakfast on our DC vacation. Biscuit Sammie was perfect.
Great tasting food. Got the biscuit sandwich. Friends got tea and coffee and they loved it. Lines are long because people love it here.
Came here Sunday at 8.20 am. Got up early to avoid the crowd and having walked through the snowstorm, only to find the shop closed with a note on the door saying opening hour is 10 am. What a disappointment. We ve checked the homepage beforehand were it stated: 8 am opening hour on Sunday.
The place was overly busy, the baked goods in the counter were mediocre, and my latte was just okay. I'll look for somewhere else next time.
Great place to grab a quick coffee on the go or just to hang out! I haven't found anything there I didn't want to have again!
The ham sandwich was really good - free refill on Normal Drip coffee. Don t worry if you see a line to order - it moves fast!
We popped in here since the line for a baked joint was so long and this place was pretty empty. We ordered quickly and then waited almost 30 mins for a latte and coffee! Only two guys were working, but the constantly were asking people what did you order? Oh you haven t gotten you order yet? Maybe it was an off day, but I probably won t waste my time again. The latte was good, I wish I could ve actually enjoyed it.
first i was surprise the lane to order but it goes fast. Food are home made and service is really fast. Delicious home juice. Not too crowed or noisy, really good !
Great food, ok drinks. Be ready for lines on the weekend.
Nice food options for coffee shop, great people watching place.
A really nice alternative for breakfast. I loved the savory oatmeal (oatmeal with sausage, egg, kale, and caramelized onions). I've never had anything like it before. The coffee is quiet too. The seating is comfortable and informal. The menu is creative (I had to Google at least two terms) and the food is good quality. Be prepared to wait a bit, there may be a line.
Super nice and very cozy place, large open space typical of the United States.
People work on their mac while sipping their latte .. hyper typical!
The drinks and snacks they offer are excellent, despite a price a bit high (but welcome to DC!)
to test absolutely during your visit to Washington.
Oh I cannot express how delicious this biscuit was. The meat & cheese is the way to go! It was very fresh and full of flavor. The latte was also delicious. We tried going back on a Sunday morning but the line was a bit long. So I recommend going on a weekday. 5 stars!
I love this place. I had a great soup, some excellent tea, and the cookies were top notch. I feel confident you could order anything on the menu and it would be excellent. I had both of the veggie sandwiches over a couple days and both were excellent. Recommend for a cute little lunch spot
