I got summons to jury duty and my husband is the sole bread winner of the family. .and when I asked I have no family or friends to watch my kids and that we don't trust anyone to watch our kids... she said that it is not excuse able and I need to make ararrangements...I didn't like that answer!!! I think is not fair!!!
Called in 2 separate occasions to ask literally 3 questions the 2 different ladies that I had on the line had horrible attitudes and were all rude. At the end one of the calls, I said thank you and the lady was like mhmm.
Everyone seems to be friendly and helpful. Judges are fair and direct.
Nothing but evil in this place . I paid a fine every month same amount. This month they send check back saying its in collections for original amount. 2 days late because of usps and courts being short on personnel. So they are not counting hundreds of dollars already paid . Nobody ever answers the phone. I'm contacting my attorney.

Very impressive how they're trained parrots to answer the phone when you call with basic questions. It would be a lot cooler if they'd get some parrots (or perhaps humans) that can actually answer your questions instead of just cutting you off to repeat back what you just said but hey, this is government in a nutshell. And some of you geniuses want these parrots in charge of healthcare.... SMH!

Was summoned for jury duty and like most people I treaded it. However, Ms. Marylou was absolutely ADORABLE. She was sweet, attentive, timely with information given to us and extremely informative. They were VERY organized and IF you know how to follow instructions it will be a breeze for you as well. One note of advice bring your own lunch and snack. The cafeteria have been closed for over a month, so you would have to leave the building to buy your food. Snack machine are a bit pricey as well.
The worst court system I ever had to deal with. They keep draging me to court these people have nothing better to do with their time. Its such a huge violation to my human rights. I would love to be left alone. They are the ones who keep writing me to keep going to court. Leave me alone case dismiss. Leave me and my kids be. I dont understand what is these peoples problem. Worst phone service in the world you re better off going to courthouse instead of calling clerk of courts because no one answers phone you will be on hold 30 mins to a hour
This place has the rudest people; the laziest people; also, if to make matters worst, they are proficiently slow. To call them for basic information they transfer you to a operator, that always say leave a message, and they will get back to you between 24 to 48 business hours, which they never do. Your taxpayer dollars are going to the worst kind people.
Hands down the most horrific courthouse I have ever been to. They treat you like a criminal on trial for murder, even though I was only there for a ticket I got on a BICYCLE, because apparently it's ILLEGAL to ride a bike through a crosswalk at an intersection in Broward County!?!?! I wish I could have given this ZERO stars.

Horribe. First time called in for jury duty. The directions to find juror parking are incorrect. They say you get reimbursed for parking but don't. Huge sign on the juror parking lot saying "not juror parking" I figure this is just a money making scheme, because I parked across the syreet and they would not validate my parking. If I could give a -1, I would. You have to go through the west building to get into the East building..none of these instructions were clearly stated. Bottom line at 7am wondering around downtowns busy streets is not civic duty. The lady with the blond braids in the front of the courtroom entrance was rude and unhelpful.
Very poor customer service... Apparently they aren't up to date with the Florida Statues trying to charge me a $400 filing fee for a foreign judgment that's already been recorded and does not need to be filed as a new case according to the statue and had consulted with an attorney, they don't know what they are talking about or doing....
The new courthouse is very well laid out which makes finding the office you're looking for much easier. Such will be even better once the new building is separated from the old one which is horrible to navigate. Another huge plus with the new courthouse is that the majority of those Broward County employees working there appear to be more content in those surroundings as they are much less rude and more helpful now.

Complaining about a Clerk of Court is complaining directly at the Government. Your voice is not heard by the source but only by those who can also cry about their fate and by the observers.
They are liars and crooks, inept and unprofessional. There was NO EXCUSE for giving me a ticket for having no lights when PUSHING my bicycle on PRIVATE property.
Ya know how back in elementary school they put the really stupid kids in the corner with some toys so they wouldn't bother the normal ones while they were learning? Well, this is society's version of the dumb kids' corner for adults-they work for the city. The employees seem unable or unwilling to do the bare basics of their job. Anything more challenging than yelling "next" causes cerebral overload.

Broward Courthouse is a huge building with four spacious floors and many different divisions. I visited the Courthouse to correct a spelling error in my passport. Knowing nothing about any of the procedures, I decided to first get a FREE legal advice - they have consultants on staff for that.
Second floor is where you get all the necessary paperwork for your specific procedures. The lady at the window there is absolutely great. Very polite, soft-spoken, accommodating and friendly to every visitor.
On the forth floor, where I filed my papers, the associates are amazing..I didnt hire a lawyer for this case (who said it would cost $2,500) and decided to fill out the paperwork by myself. As I was waiting in line for my turn, an associate walked up to me and asked if I needed any help. Pleasantly surprised, I showed her my paperwork and explained what I was looking to get done. She carefully reviewed, answered all my questions and explained what and how things had to be done. She basically, saved all that money and time for me with a simple, customer-focused conversation.
I never had experienced or witnessed such interaction in a government building. When my turn came, another friendly lady assisted me at the window and filed all my papers. I was missing a couple of forms and a stamped envelope. She pulled out the forms from her stack and just handed to me, and then said that I can get a stamped envelope on the second floor and come back, saving me a trip to a post office.
What an excellent service! Kudos, awesome associates of Broward County Courthouse - visitors come to that place with problems and unpleasant situations and you guys make their experience a great one.

SO beyond angry with this location. Long story short, my boyfriend and I live in Hillsborough county (Tampa). We rented a truck through Enterprise and they put one from Broward county in his name. We have never been to Broward county before. The clerk of courts will not even begin to fix it, they said he would have to pay it (over $300) or fight it in court..IN FORT LAUDERDALE. He drives for a living and his license is suspended now and we are beyond angry that no one cares to fix this. Watch yourself with this office.

Judges favor scumbag tenants who do not pay their rent causing landlords to go into foreclosure. Tenants should not get a hearing unless they deposit the rent in the court registry. Unfair to landlords who are not rich and depends on the rent to pay the mortgage. This is why property values keep going down and county revenue keep declining.

On 12-1-15, I was given a judicial noose and the chair was kicked out right from under me.. and now everybody's RECUSING THEMSELVES.....WHY?
I only get my kids on Friday and Saturday overnights (every other week), the ex-wife gets most of the holidays, and I only get 2 weeks in the summer.
General Magistrate Rita Ugarte has blatantly and boldly DISCRIMINATED against me because I m a BLACK MAN. She basically turned me into a babysitter. I ve been removed from my kids lives in a major way and this GM has to be REMOVED from her seat permanently. People like this should NOT be in positions of power to destroy people s lives just because she doesn t like you or brings her PERSONAL PREJUDICES into the courtroom.
GM Rita Ugarte has acted outside of the law and should not be permitted to continue ..period.
I ve been complaining to every one and now The Judge and GM are running away from my case because they know what they did was wrong and they re trying to wash their hands clean.
1. My bank and 401k accounts are frozen April 29th, 2016; order signed by Judge John P. Contini.
2. Judge John P. Contini recuses himself April 28th, 2016. Why would he sign an order to freeze my accounts, my livelihood, if he were going to recuse himself? In that case, he shouldn t have signed the order. But he knew what he was doing was wrong. So he washed his hands.
3. Word gets back to General Magistrate Rita Ugarte that I m not quitting and I m writing letters everywhere, so she recuses herself on May 23rd, 2016. Ask yourself, why would she do that after she ruled on my case? What s the alarm? She knows there s something, in the way she handled my case wasn t right and she knows what she did was wrong.
So SHE washed her hands.
4. I ve written a letter to the [Judicial Qualifications Commission] before. They responded saying I have to take this up with the Chief Judge of the circuit where the magistrate works . But you really have to take a second look now that everybody s recusing himself or herself.
Where there s smoke, there s fire.
5. I ve written a letter to the Chief Judge. He responded saying, I am not granted the authority to usurp the jurisdiction of the presiding judge .
6. I ve written other letters to Judge John P. Contini, Attorney General Pam Bondi, The U.S. Dept. of Justice, and the judge s assistant Eliana Juarez-Grimm. No one says they can do anything.
7. GM Rita Ugarte says on one of the transcripts I attached, I live in a different plane than other people . Like she puts herself as being superior over me and I m nothing in here. She s sadly mistaken
8. GM Rita Ugarte is in VIOLATION OF DUE PROCESS. I brought hard evidence to the hearings directly refuting what my ex-wife was saying against me and the GM refused to see it. That s not getting my day in court. That s refusing my day to a fair & unbiased hearing.

My son is now failing in school. He already was held back one grade, and the only reason he s being promoted is because the school can only hold your child back one time in elementary school, otherwise he would be held back again. Dayna doesn t care. I ve always been the education parent. But since I m basically removed from their lives, I have no real impact on them, as they are around Dayna most of the time. (((You are, who you hang around))) The GM knew Dayna was letting my kids stay home from school when they felt like it, yet the GM awards Dayna decision making control over their education. I brought proof from the school on the many days Aja [daughter] was missing and the GM Rita Ugarte didn t even want to see it.
The End Game: I need you help to get this hearing/ruling thrown out. I deserve 50/50 time-sharing with my kids. They deserve to be with me just as much as they deserve to be with their mother.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Slow, unstaffed, the current staff could care less to help you, just overall terrible process. The government should really take more pride in these operations running smoother, more helpful and nicer overall.
Had a very good experience. Had a wonderful Judge who granted me child support and alimony.

Personnel in the Civil Records and Juvenile Records need to be trained on how to speak to public, especially to military personnel in uniform (recruiters) that have authorization from an individual who is applying for joining the Army or any other branch to request their respective records.
If they don't want to perform their duties and responsibilities of providing services to the public, then they need to remove themselves from that job and let someone more efficient and less worried about themselves to perform it.
We didn't have the time to make a formal complaint today but I will return and make it because if no one complaints about it, the issues don't get noticed and don't get fixed.
I hate this place so much they charge me 32 dollar for a packing because I pack their and my Boyfriend and jail since September every time he go in court they put him to another day I like when this gonna stop I hope one day they destroy this place

I would give less if possible. I never dealt with a bunch of incompetent group of people. They are crooks and do not care about how much you prove your innocence. Good luck with ever dealing with any of them!!
Over price parking. $7 - 30 mins, $10- 2 hours, $15 All day. Overall fairly fast and simple security process.
We were here about 10 days over a two week period.
Parking - yeah, that was interesting. It varies from $3/day to $5/hour, depending on what time of day it is, what day of the week and (apparently) the mood of the people running the parking lots. If you get into the official structure, it's $10/hr. before 11:00 and then $5/day for the rest of the day. You also have to navigate the construction in the area.
The building itself appears to be in good shape, but we've been told that there are some underlying problems, thus they are building a new one. We were first told that the courtroom would be cool. We dressed accordingly, by FL standards, with a long sleeve shirt and a light jacket in case we needed it. By noon, we were freakin' freezing.
The next day, we knew we would be there longer, so we upped the wardrobe - turtleneck sweater under a crewneck sweater, heavier pants and warmer shoes. Nope, still freezing. It took three hours to thaw out our feet when we got home.
The third day, and thereafter, we went with full blown igloo wear, I kid you not. Two sweaters covered with a polar fleece jacket, two pairs of knee socks, heavy denim pants, gloves, hand warmers, Uggs and a double layer fleece lap blanket. Our feet we still cold, but overall we were much better. We did get an offer to buy the fleece jacket from some guy that was obviously "new in town" by Broward courthouse standards. It was explained to us, by a neighbor that works in the building that they keep it in the sub-zero temperatures due to a large amount of mold growing in the building. Okay, that made us feel sooooo much better about being there for 2-3 weeks.
The cafeteria, (as covered in a different review) was actually not bad, but if you're looking for a snack after 3:00 and you have a judge who's running til at least 6:00, better pack a PB&J, because there is no place to get anything.
Don't forget to get there early, in case you have to navigate from the primary wing to the north wing, which was about a 10 minute hike with a couple of different elevator connections, since they don't all go to the same place.
Overall, two stars is being generous, but I'm in a good mood, now that I'm warm.

This is the worst Judicial system and very flawed. The Hearing Officer Tom Wich found me guilty and fined me $500 because I knew the Statute against what I was accused of doing. He was furious that I would not answer a hypothetical question that had no bearing to the case, so he found me guilty and max fine for Improper Stop while No Stopping, No Standing, and No Parking sigh was present. I was already in the Stop position behind two cars at the stop sign, and crossing guard was allowing children to pass. I told my son to exit the vehicle. He was two steps away from the school ground in a Residential neighborhood. The officer wanting to meet his quota stopped me after I made a left to Royal Palm Blvd, and gave me a citation for letting my son out.
I requested a Rehearing Twice and also to vacate sentence due to Mr. Wich bias. I'm sure the fact that I was a black man that did not fit his profile angered him. I'm not supposed to be an articulate and educated black man in his eyes. I came to find out that Mr. Wich was also the rehearing officer that denied me three times. What should I've expected? The system is corrupt. My requests should have been viewed by a non-bias third party, but each time he's the one making the decision. Where is the justice! This is for a Misdemeanor traffic. I can't imagine what happens in Felony cases.
Tom Wich should be disbarred for his actions. He's not fit to be a Judicial Officer.
Disappointed sad that I cannot get a call returned all we need is an invoice for an expungement that was signed July 7 now almost September and still no invoice. How can they justify this
I ve had nothing but good experiences with this court house. It s easy to find, parking isn t too far, and security check is quick! The front help desk is right when you walk in!
I tried calling to ask ONE question, not only did the machine take a good five minutes to get out as much information as possible, i guess so they don't have to actually talk to someone. then once you get through that whole monologue and finally get the extension to speak to an operator, it immediately says there is no operator available and then disconnects you. No 'please hold'. Granted, their machine had A LOT of information that i needed but not all of it.
I needed some information regarding the documents i would bring to my final divorce hearing, in which they used a few legal terms i didn t comprehend, so i called the number that was provided on my case and the nice lady told me to Google them... Google can be our best friend nowadays ... Not to mention the tone of impatience some of these ladies show when you re at their booth...
Terrible customer service. No one here seems to understand that the Supreme Court ruled that states can't turn basic rights into licensed privileges (i.e. driving). Had the audacity to ask to see my license after they took it away. One extra star because the gentlemen who fondled me after I set off the metal detectors was very gentle.

There was a security procedure allowing one person in the building at a time that made non sense. Other than that. I had a very positive and expedite experience at a problem that I could not solve online or by the phone. The marriage certificate department went far and beyond my expectations at trying to find my original marriage certificate. As it was lost they made all the necessary arrangement to have the form shipped to me to create a certified copy of my marriage license. I could not left happier with Jen. Great customer service.

Don't leave your ticket in your vehicle.. It. Has to be stamped..security is tight but courteous.. Mary Lou Culligan gave a 5 star orientation.. She is sooo good she had my attention for an hour.. That is amazing..Thanks Marry.. The system is very organized.. Sooo if you have to go.. Marry will set the agenda for your day.. I was very impressed... This place is all jacked up. Nothing is ran efficient here at all. And if your unfortunate enough to be a redident in there jail pray you have no medical or mental health conditions,they'll let you die before they help you.
I had a jury duty summon a year ago but I wish the courthouse should offer juror candidates free lunch for participating in the selection. The secruity needs to have a better team especially need to get rid of those who harass their juror candidates with derogatory comments especially the one with the dreads or braids. I like the process overall but the courthouse need to accommodate their juror candidates with free food, do not let them fall asleep when they are bored.

Worst courthouse with the worst judges. Example... Judge Kaplan. He will not side with the victim, and even forget why the victim petitioned. He is a true bureaucrat who just does not care. He chooses times that are convenient for him only (he can easily reschedule with others, but instead denies motions for rescheduling), and then does not grant restraining orders against psychos who really do stalk.

Since the new building open up! The security act like they're "TSA" when you go through check clearance. Someone need to remind them that they're NOT "TSA" one lady asked me what was in my purse while my purse went through scanner like she couldn't see what was really in my purse. She know it was a charger then going to ask me "do you have a charger in your purse?" sigh... I'm telling you security wasn't as bad in the old side. Here they either don't know what they're doing or got some attitude problem. Nobody has time for that and if they don't like their jobs then find a better one. This is a terrible facility. Nobody is aware any information, Nobody can direct you to the appropriate department. You can't get along of any supervisors or higher up. The telephone inquiry and several of the clerks are disrespectful. The other person I spoke too in 3 months regarding my issue was Carline, she is the only helpful, respectful person in the that office. It's because of her I had a good experience. If you can't speak to her, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND ANYONE ELSE.

This is a very corrupt and fraudulent system. I received two traffic citations back in March while driving Uber on Fort Lauderdale Beach and dropping people off in the wrong place allegedly. I immediately filed not guilty and scheduled a court date. Because of COVID the court kept pushing my date back further and further and eventually scheduled me for a zoom call in September. At the end of August I logged into the clerk of court page to see if they changed my date yet again but I was not in the system. I figured they dropped the charges because of Covid and because they were totally bogus to begin with. I just received a letter saying my license will be suspended if I don t pay the two fines. I logged into the court of clerks site AGAIN and sure enough I am still not in the system. I can t even pay the bs charges if I wanted to nor did they give me a chance to appear in court and argue my case. This is completely wrong, fraudulent and illegal.
