This is a must stop for me when I'm in Charleston. I brought some family with me on my last trip and after a week in Charleston the food they ate at 167 Raw was among the top things they enjoyed on our trip. If there is a wait it's well worth putting you name in and waiting for them to call or enjoy some drinks out front.

Great little hole in the wall type place. Very few seats, but they make the most of the space. All the food looked really fresh and the staff were all kind and knowledgeable. Great ceviche and tuna burger. Also, the best oyster po boy I've ever had, hands down.
All I can say is this place is AWESOME. Lobster Roll was outstanding. The Ahi Poke was delicious. Great selection of wine and beer. My new favorite lunch restaurant in Charleston.
Wow! Spectacular menu. Everything is done extremely well. Presentation was on point. The variety was well balanced and wasn't too adventurous. They have an impressive variety of oysters as well. Well worthth the wait.
We sat at the chef s table/bar top and had an interactive experience. The ceviche, lobster roll and oysters were amazing! So fresh and well prepared. When you add everything together not only does it = 5 stars but it ended up being my fav place in town.
This place is phenomenal! I would give it 6 stars if possible. The atmosphere and vibe was very hipster yet fresh, clean and simple. The server was super cool and helpful. But the best part was the oysters... they were full of flavor, each variety from different parts of the country exhibiting its own unique taste. In addition to our awesome server one of the business partners himself was hanging out with the guests to make sure everyone got seated as well as interacting with all of us to see how we liked the food and experience. Hands down this was the best part of my trip to Charleston this time around. I will definitely be coming back!
We hoped to find a fresh seafood restaurant which truly deserved 5 stars. 165 Raw was quaint with a busy patio spot and a charming inside. There was seating for approx 16 in the patio and a similar number inside. Seating is at the long table which also serves as a bar, with a couple of high tables with stools. The manager took our names on a first come first served base. We were seated at the long bar overlooking oyster shucking, a large selection of wines, amid the bustle of this charming spot. We ordered a mix of a dozen oysters. Shucked to order we enjoyed a selection of smaller briny oysters to meaty briny ones. All were superb. We followed with an order of ceviche. The ceviche, grouper, was light, marinated and in fresh citrus. Delicious. Served with house made tacos we enjoyed an order of guacamole. My husband ordered a small pork soft taco which he found delicious. Washed down with a crisp light wine we even ordered a key lime desert to share. We enjoyed the menu as it was short, fresh and everything was 'in house'. I can't praise this spot enough. The location, the atmosphere, the superb dishes and friendly helpful staff buzzing around attentively. The service was quick and friendly. This made our visit incredibly enjoyable. Thank goodness we are able to buzz into Charleston from our home within 90 minutes. I cannot recommend this unexpected find enough. This will become a ' must' stop spot to bring our friends. We stopped en route to another restaurant "just to look'. We stayed for lunch. Not to be missed.
Such a satisfying experience! From the minute we walked up the hostess was extremely kind, funny and made us feel at home. The food was to die for and our service was spectacular!! Our mothers had to ask every question possible and our server was more than happy to answer with a smile. Highly recommend and would definitely come back on the regular!
Last month I was visiting friends at Wild Dunes. I had never had a lobster roll so we drove into Charleston to enjoy a late lunch. We each had a lobster roll and shared a crab dip. Our lunch was delicious. We also enjoyed a glass of white wine with lunch which our server recommended. It was a great afternoon and look forward to going here again when visiting Charleston.
My wife and I love 167 raw. Very small place with excellent food and service. The staff went out of their way to assure we were satisfied. The lobster rolls are a must.
Always worth the wait. Always. The crew that runs the place is fun. The food is incredible. Myriad of oysters. Crudos and Ceviche. Pastrami'd Swordfish. Key lime pie. Great wine and local beer.
I ve driven to Charleston from Atlanta twice just to eat at this restaurant.
Food:
The sea food here is by far the best I ve ever had even when compared to pricier places in NYC and Cape Cod. The Tuna burger is original and well thought out and the Oyster Po Boy made me want to keep ordering them till I exploded. The raw oysters the were fresh and flavorful.
Atmosphere:
Super cozy and personal. Feels like you are in a friends kitchen and not at a restaurant.
So glad we were given the recommendation to visit here! The oysters were by far the best I've ever had. I highly suggest the oyster shooter. Beyond delicious. The atmosphere is amazing and our bartender George was so attentive. The service was very fast. This is a must do in Charleston!
This is by far the best Raw Oysters and King Crab Claws I ve ever had! Their food tastes like it was just reeled up off the ocean floor. Unbelievably quick service. After dinner we went to a roof top bar nearby. Excellent experience and will recommend to anyone who appreciates fresh seafood. Pretty decent beer selection too I might add.
Food is perfect, prices have gone through the roof. They'll still have lines out the door from all the tourists so the prices, will stay high. I'll miss going there...
So so good. Incredible food. Absolutely lovely staff. Arrived a little early so we'd be able to beat the queue, as they do get crazy busy after 6pm, and weren't disappointed. Seriously, so good.
First come first serve but they were happy to take our name down and let us go for a wander to kill time.
We went for a dozen oysters, followed by the Ahi Poke (raw tuna and chips), finishing up with their pork canita tacos for dessert. All completely delicious and highly recommended.
Great staff, fast service and very reasonably priced given the quality
We had 5 small plates and each one was better than the last! The oysters tonight were the best I've had in years. Come early and prepare to wait a bit for an extraordinary meal!
167 Raw on King Street in Charleston is a great place to go for all things quality seafood in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I enjoy just about every item on the menu as it is well prepared and delicious and something different. The staff here is very welcoming and makes sure that you are properly taken care of during your meal. It is well worth coming here.
We are from out of town and had never had oysters before. We had the best experience ever here at 167 raw. The staff was excellent and excited to teach us about oysters. They walked us through each type and what to expect flavor wise and we had a great time! And definitely get the pastrami'd swordfish sandwich! It's amazing!
Oysters are delicious--the ceviche & lobster rolls too--and the service is great. What more could you ask for? We drop by every time we're in Charleston.
Lobster roll and tuna burger were out of this world. Oysters were amazing. Restaurant is tiny but quaint. Staff was friendly, attentive and offered up suggestions as well as gave us a great history of how the restaurant started and where the seafood originates from. Highly recommend this restaurant. Get there early!!!
Food, staff, and venue all on point at this quaint little spot. Like a well-oiled machine. Chef's choice of oysters did not disappoint and paired nicely with a blood orange gose. Check them out for sure.
Easily the best meal I've had in Charleston so far. Started out with the guacamole and chips. Guac was super fresh and topped off with pickled red onion. The chips were fresh fried corn chips that were thick but light and airy. I had some clams, oysters, and jumbo shrimp from the raw bar. They were all delicious and amazingly fresh. The chefs had an impressive amount of knowledge regarding each varietal of shellfish. They told us the exact waters they came from, as well as the salinity, and finish to each. I finished the meal off with the best oyster poboy, possibly best sandwich, of my life. The bread was perfectly toasted and drenched in butter. The oysters were fried perfectly as well, and topped with a delicious beet and brown butter sauce. The space was small but utilized well. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic meal with a hankering for shellfish. Simply superb.
Just had the most amazing lunch at 167 Raw - the interior is quite small, great for 1 person or 2 people to sit at the bar and just 2 4-person tables - but very quaint and cozy. The staff is very friendly and really good at recommending the right foods for you. The food is AMAZING - it s hard to chose so hopefully you can come back multiple times. I had oysters and white wine to start, the scallops roll as my main, and the key lime pie to finish - wish I was staying here longer to try everything else in the menu !!
Excellent poke and oysters. Only 24 seats total in this place, so put your name in and check out Cane (2 blocks down) for drink while you wait. It's worth it.
I mean! What else can I say besides ... delicious! One of the best lobster rolls we ve ever had and offcourse you can t miss the oysters . We got there just before the lunch rush and we re seated quickly.
We stopped in for lunch and were seated right away. The service was great. Our waiter was really helpful and knowledgeable on the dishes and gave good recommendations. My husband and I shared the pastrami swordfish sandwich, which was good and the lobster roll, which was delicious. Definitely worth it.
Fresh food. You have to taste the tuna burger! A table not to miss. Warning. The restaurant is very very small but the quality is at the rendezvous. The tuna burger is the classic of the house: not to miss! All dishes are prepared under your eyes!
Wow! Incredible food. The taco of the day was to die for. I didn't know I was an oyster person until I tried the ones at 167. I cannot wait to be back!!
Fantastic new location and wonderful food, a must if you're into oysters. The new location has a larger seating area but because of popularity for good reason mind you, you are in for a wait. And it's worth it.
Absolutely a must-eat place in Charleston! The place is very small with limited seating, so we had to wait over an hour for a seat at the bar, but it was well worth the wait! The lobster roll was to die for!
Excellent food, service, and overall experience. The lobster roll and carnitas taco were exceptional. Small space so get there early or prepare for a long wait.
Excellent and fresh food. While waiting was never asked for a drink, while everyone around us was offered one. Was told 35 minute wait but waited about 50-60 minutes. When seated took another 15 minutes to be attended to. We put in all of our food at once, was immediately served oysters and ahi poke (highly recommended), but didn't receive tacos for another 30 minutes (never was checked in on). Guy shucking oysters was awesome. Recommend this place for the food, but not for the comfort.
The oysters were great but it was the actual Oyster Bar that set this place on our 5 Star list. They know how to sell you the best and even made us two that had caviar and champagne in the shell. Mason has the tenure and Josh is following suit. If you want to feel romance, special or just hit the best Oyster shuckers in town after a day at the beach....this is a hang ten no brainer.
2 words...simply phenomenal! We were in Charleston for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. We decided to have lunch at 167 Raw. From the moment we sat down at the bar, we were greeted by, my soon to be most favorite bartender ever, Alex. He was energetic, fun, and knew everything about the menu. He made tasty drink suggestions to pair with each course. Each new thing was better than the last. The oysters were so good we ordered a second dozen, then came the lobster rolls, these yummy creations were simply phenomenal! We finished our seafood extravaganza with a slice of the key lime pie; it was perfection! Thank you Raw 167, you are officially my new favorite restaurant! Can t wait to visit again.
My daughter found a hair in her food and they didn't deduct it from the bill. She bit into her Wreckfish taco and realized it had onions. When she picked the onion out, she found a hair in the salsa. It is circled in the photo included on this post. They did replace it, but usually it is deducted from the bill for the inconvenience. It was still on the bill. The food was very good. A little pricey, but well worth it. It was very clean including the bathrooms. Our waiter was professional and friendly which was kinda weird he wouldn't comp the taco. My daughter only took one bite and we were very discrete about it. I hope it wasn't his manager's decision which would make me worry about other decisions being made in the restaurant. I really liked this place other than that. Oh well.
Simply incredible. The vibe, the food, and the service were all a top 10. I almost feel irrational or over emotional for saying this, but it was possibly the best lunch experience I've ever had.
The food was fine (nothing too memorable for me), service was great, and the restaurant interior looked like one that should be photographed for a magazine! I would recommend someone to definitely try this place at least once.
