I worked with Rob in the service department and I don t think I have ever received better vehicle service anywhere. It was a welcomed surprise from a dealership! Especially as a woman, it s often nerve-wracking to have to deal with anything car repair-related. Rob was welcoming and kind from the moment I walked in. Though we originally thought this would be some simple under-warranty work, the issue turned out to be a bit more complicated. More than anything, I appreciated Rob sitting down with me to thoroughly explain what was happening, why, and share that he, too, wouldn t be happy hearing what he had to say if he was in my seat. But Rob didn t give up there (as many others might have done). He worked diligently to find a solution for us. It meant leaving my car there for a couple of days to complete the work, but they happily provided a loaner vehicle and my vehicle was returned in perfect working order! It s hard to find trustworthy people to work on vehicles, but never again will I dread taking my vehicle in for repairs. I can t speak highly enough of the quality customer service I received. THANK YOU!!

Don't expect the service department at Zimbrick (o...

Don't expect the service department at Zimbrick (or VW's 'Customer Care center') to help you resolve warranty-related issues with your VW vehicle. My 2013 Certified Pre-Owned Jetta Sportwagen had an issue with the windshield washer line in the middle of winter. VW uses a plastic line (not rubber) for windshield washers and the line split during one of the cold spells this winter, effectively disabling the car (can't drive without washer fluid in WI winters...). I use washer fluid rated for winter weather and it still had an issue.

I took my car to Zimbrick expecting this to be an easy fix because it was clear that this was a manufacturer's defect in design or materials. Rob, the service writer at Zimbrick, saw things differently and expected me to pay for the repair. I called VW's Customer Care 800 number and got nowhere. The Customer Care person spent two days to make a decision and then told me they rely on the dealership service writers to make the determination on warranty repairs.

I've owned many different makes of vehicles in my lifetime and taken them to many different dealership service shops. You can usually count on the service writers to do what makes sense. Not the case at Zimbrick. On top of Zimbrick's failings, certainly don't expect that the premium cost of a VW Certified Pre-Owned car and it's associated bumper-to-bumper warranty will be of any use either.

Buyer beware.

We wanted to purchase and finance a vehicle for our business. We made it clear we wanted it for the business, not on our personal credit. We have another vehicle for another business that reports to the business only and we made it clear we did not want to purchase the vehicle if it reported to our personal credit so that our debt to income ratio stayed intact for our real estate properties to be refinanced. They assured us several times that this would happen. Two mo the later it s reporting on our business credit. We called and the salesman said too bad it s not my problem. We spoke with the manager who said he would look into it. He then said he would look into contacting the company we financed with to see if they could change it. Now we haven t heard from him in weeks. Not a trustworthy business by any means. We will stick with Kayser Chrysler in Sauk from now on.

I love Zimbrick Volkswagen of Madison, both the sales & service department.
I have purchased two VW Beetles from this dealership...& have been working with Rob Miller in service for several years now.
Rob is very knowledgeable, not only on the service end of the vehicle, but also with regards to sales & products available. Thanks to Rob I was able to obtain my 2018 VW Beetle, before they were gone from production!

I very much appreciate Rob's flexibility with scheduling, his prompt & courteous service & his patience...not to mention how pleasant he is to work with! Thanks, Rob...it is my pleasure to rate you with "5 stars"! :)

Volkswagen Zimbrick on Stoughton road has excellent salesman named Mercer May. He took me to smooth process while deciding to buy my Volkswagen Tiguan this week. The service was excellent and no pressure, very informative and the types available and made my choice easier.
I would recommend him to anybody who doesn t want to push with car salesmen.

I brought my 2002 Eurovan in for some mystery electrical issues. Trish was very helpful in getting me scheduled immediately so I didn't have to miss work, and Brad found the problem and solved it immediately. He also gave me a heads-up on other minor issues he could help with like an oil change and new wiper blade, but he didn't pressure me to buy anything and let me make the decisions. This was very important to me as I have seen plenty of dealers who take forever and then give you the guilt trip so you spend more money. He also told me what a "prized" vehicle I own - thanks for caring as much as I do about keeping it healthy!

Also, having a complimentary cab ride to and from their location made it so convenient!

Zimbrick Volkswagen East takes care of our family. My wife just took delivery on her second VW. Our son took delivery on his first. Scott simplified the process by cutting to what interested us most, the prices were great. Good sale going on now!
Service is great too! I ve been taking my truck, and my wife s VW, for service there for years now. Bill, Mike, and Tricia are great to work with.

Was in a bit of a panic to replace my older current car that started having unexpected issues. Used car manager Chad Schaal stepped up to see what he could find for me. When it became obvious there were no pre owned options of the model I wanted anywhere in the area he reached out to BJ Lavota, the new car sales manager to see what else could be done. Because it was year end VW had some tremendous incentives on remaining 2017 s. BJ and Chad worked to find me exactly what I was looking for through a dealer trade and had the car ready for me to pick up within 48 hours. Besides the great price incentive, I also received a fair trade in value for my 12 year old daily driver. I couldn't be more pleased with how well everything came together. By the way, my new black GTI Autobahn with stick is a blast to drive. Thanks to Chad and BJ for all their help.

Great experience! Bill, Scott, Jeremy and the rest of the Zimbrick VW team were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helped me make an informed decision about leasing vs buying. Living over 100 miles away, Zimbrick is not the most convenient dealership for me, however, I find value in working with a team that is trustworthy and customer-centric. I ve had great experiences with the service team in the past so decided to contact Zimbrick to buy/lease a new car a couple weeks ago.

Being on a tight schedule, Scott talked me through the entire leasing process (which is new to me) over the phone, text me pictures of several cars, and e-mailed financing details so that I could review things ahead of time. I was at the dealership the next day for no more than an hour and left with a new 2019 Tiguan. While filling out paper work, Bill, General Manager, even took my dog for a walk so I could focus on the details.

These are just a few reasons why Zimbrick will be my first choice for future service and new car needs!

This review is based on their used lot: Be aware that the East side of Madison was hit with a storm recently!!!!!!! We were close to signing on a Silver 2014 Jetta SE sedan (roughly 36k miles/black leather) until we reviewed the final paperwork. We noticed a discrepancy in regards to paint/body not being up to spec, though it was acknowledged repairs have not been done. Upon closer inspection we noticed hail damage on the roof which we missed the first time. The General Manager, Bill Schmitz, was stellar but I did expect them to be honest and be better people in general instead of trying to hide the obvious.

Brian Baker, on the other hand, was not so pleasant. He wanted to rescind the first "free" oil change with purchase during negotiations. Cost to them for an oil change is next to nothing. Who does that?!

My assumption was that they hoped we didn't notice the hail damage so they can forgo the expensive dent/paint repair. I was set on purchasing one of the Volkswagen GTIs on the lot closer to year's end as well. They were the trim I wanted, 6 speed, and had the iconic plaid interior but I will never step foot there again!!!

Bought a Jeep from the used dealership here about 11 months ago. When I first drove it off the lot, I was so excited and thrilled because I loved it. Two weeks later, the engine light turned on. 9 months down the road, my mechanic tells me I need a new engine and a new catalytic converter and have needed both for quite awhile. How could something like that have been missed during your safety inspection? I had only had it two weeks! I m not a whonky-crazy driver, I barely went anywhere. This was supposed to be the car I took with me to college, but it hasn t been trustworthy or reliable. I get you specialize in Volkswagen, I get I bought it from a used dealership so the sale is as is , but your mechanics told me it passed your safety inspection. I m just really frustrated & extremely overwhelmed because I haven t even had this car for a year, I still owe money on it, I can t always drive it, and I already need a new car.

I recently purchased a used 2013 vehicle from Zimbrick Volkswagon of Madison, and couldn t be happier with my purchase AND the process. From my initial inquiry, through to driving my car off the lot after purchase, everyone was over the top, friendly and helpful.

I felt like I received honest opinions about the features and condition of the car. The general manager, Bill Schmitz, gathered as much history on the vehicle as he could. My salesman, Scott Ecker, and his finance assistant Jeremy, sent me all of the necessary paperwork my credit union required for the loan, saving me unnecessary trips to pick up the forms.

When I came in to pay and pick up the vehicle, I was greeted with huge smiles and hearty congratulatory handshakes by everyone involved. The car had been detailed and looked absolutely brand new! They took the time to explain some of the many extra features it had, like seat adjustment, liftgate remote, etc.

If you re looking for a hassle free, enjoyable experience when purchasing a new or used vehicle, I wouldn t shop anywhere else. Our next car purchase will definitely be from Zimbrick Volkswagon of Madison.

I called for an appointment and was greeted by the lovely Krista. She was cheerful and polite. Hooty greeted me for my appointment. Friendly, cheerful and efficient. He provided very complete information and estimate within the hour by e-mail. I dropped off my car using the key drop not knowing I had papers to sign. They were delayed because of this. Very polite with my error.
My car looks GREAT. LOVE those guys!!

I really can't say enough good things about our ex...

I really can't say enough good things about our experience with Kris Fox and the entire Zimbrick VW dealership. My wife's Jetta was part of the whole VW TDI shenanigans. Kris worked with us for several months on selecting a Tiguan 4Motion for my wife's replacement vehicle. She was extremely patient and knowledgeable throughout the entire process.

When it came time to turn in the TDI and get our new Tiguan, Kris made sure we had everything arranged with price and paperwork before we arrived on the day. Brian Baker was fantastic in the finance office and explained the details of our new lease clearly and quickly while Kris went over all the feature on the new Tiguan with my wife.

Really great experience all around and I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone looking for lease, purchase or service (we serviced our TDI here as well).

5 stars; Very good service; Kinda expensive though...

5 stars; Very good service; Kinda expensive though for just oil change, lube, and new wiper blades; over $400. I needed an oil change and lube on my 2011 Jetta (2.5 L. with 5 cylinders with 41,000 miles on it); besides that, they (Darryl, from Wisconsin Dells?) checked the brakes, tire wear, rotated the tires, and checked the front-end, like struts; put new wiper blades on, too, etc. Also found seed (corn, soybeans) stuffed in places in the engine and a partly chewed off battery cover; mice had been living in my engine. They showed me all this and made recommendations as to what to do to keep them out.

Because of recent snow packed in the tires (2/7/13), the car runs funny now and shakes, along with the steering wheel shaking when I get up to highway speed; I'm supposed to get the ice out of the wheels, check for a possible bulge or rupture in a tire wall (from hitting a pothole maybe), or if none of that helps, have Zimbrick's give it a front-end alignment.

Watch them closely, get a second opinion, do NOT trust their recommendations. Went in for an oil change and a recall for my sun roof drains. While there, I also asked for them to check my brakes as I have yet to replace them and had close to 80,000 miles on the car. Did not have any signs or noise of bad rotors or pads though, just wanted peace of mind. They came back to me with a pre-work order for $1934.05. Said 10-20% of pads left, tires were 4/32 , and then some other things like filters and what not. I knew right off the bat those pads were not that bad as they were not making any noises and they did not feel bad, my tires were a year old with less than 20,000 miles on them so that was also impossible. I took my vehicle to Conant automotive and they confirmed that everything Volkswagen had said was a lie. Still have over 50% left on my pads and the tires were no where near the end of their life. Overall very disappointed and felt like they were trying to take advantage of me. I do not recommend going there and will never take my vehicle there again.

Two weeks ago I became interested in a GTI during my search for a new vehicle. I stopped in on a Saturday and inquired about checking one out. They sent Marcel out to talk with me. Not long after I was on a test drive in a GTI for the first time and fell in love...it was a fun test drive. Marcel is a GTI fan and his enthusiasm is contagious and I caught it. I let him know I was just starting to look and he had an absolute zero pressure approach which I really appreciated. I've never purchased a new car before and I really appreciate that I never felt pushed into a decision. But I got excited and loved the car so much that just two weeks later I picked up my new GTI (I had planned on taking a few months to decide what car I wanted). Three days after the paperwork was signed and everything was done I came in to pickup the car tonight and Marcel still took a good hour to walk me though the features of my new car, how to use everything in it, and did a walk around with me to make sure everything was as it should be. Two minor issues were pointed out to me, ones I may not have noticed on my own, and solutions presented. It made me feel good that they caught a couple minor issues and pointed them out rather then send the car out and hope I didn't notice. Great attention to detail and honesty!

I also worked a little with BJ and Brian and was treated very well by both as well.

Overall a great experience for my first new car! I love my new GTI and am glad I decided to buy from Marcel and Zimbrick. If you're looking for a new vehicle, especially a GTI, stop in and talk to Marcel. And make sure you get his business card...it's good for a laugh!

Excellent buying experience from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave with your new car. Marcel is very knowledgeable and I would recommend him to anyone looking to buy a car. No pressure or pushy sales tactics. Very competitive price. I drove away feeling very happy about my purchase. James, the business manager, was also a pleasure to deal with and patiently answered any questions I had. This is how car buying should be.

I've always received great service at VW Zimbrick on Stoughton. I don't go to any other place to service my vehicle anymore because I can trust them to take care of everything.

Got an oil change for my Jetta recently and was very impressed with the precautions they take to keep everyone safe. Everyone is wearing a mask, there is ample room inside to wait and I noticed that staff wear gloves and sanitize the whole vehicle before and after service.

Sometimes you have to wait for staff to attend to you, but just be patient. Once I was checked in things went quick and smooth.

I was in the market for a Sportwagen for months wi...

I was in the market for a Sportwagen for months with no success. I stumbled across Zimbrick on cars.com and inquired through there. I asked for a walk around video of both the interior and exterior and heard back from Bobby quickly, then received with no questions asked the best walk around video I've ever watched.

A few days later, I found myself flying up to buy the Wagen. I arrive and Bobby shows up in a beautiful Acura RDX shuttle. Buying a car on my own for the first time initially seemed stressful, but he was able to turn this whole process into a breeze. My needs were met beyond exception, and never felt once any reason of doubt. Zimbrick truly cares about the customer by going the extra mile to put themselves in your shoes. No matter what your reason is, they will work with you until you're happy.

If I could ever recommend a family owned business to work with, it would be Zimbrick without a doubt in my mind. I will 100% plan to return to buy my next new car from them.

Review is for Volkswagen and not Zimbrick. Zimbrick is good. Volkswagen reliability is horrible. Quoted 6,500 for 2.0tsi to replace parts that shouldn't fail. Turbo should last the life of the vehicle.

Pulled in for basic oil change shortly after 8am. ...

Pulled in for basic oil change shortly after 8am. Had to wait almost 2 hours for the so called express service. After about 90 minutes a service rep found me and said the mechanics recommended new tires before winter. The rep said he would print off and give me an estimate for new tires. My car finally comes out after oil change is completed and the tech left my keys with the cashier. I said to the cashier that those were my keys he just put into the cabinet. His response was, they will bring your paperwork out when they re done. So another 10 minutes goes by and the rep finally gave the cashier the paperwork and turned to me and said the car is ready and the cashier will take your payment and took off. Not a thank you or anything. I go to the counter and I m handed a bill for nearly $100 for an oil change. Never in my life have I paid that much for a basic oil change. The cashier tried finding the service rep, but he was nowhere to be found. Now I have to wait for the service manager. He proceeded to tell me that oil prices have gone up so Zimbrick raised the price. This increase in price should be communicated with the customer before service begins. The service manager discounted my oil change to what I paid for my last service visit. Saved me a whopping $10. I thanked him and paid for my service. At no time did anybody talk to me about an estimate for new tires. Why tell a customer you re going to do something and then not do it. Zimbrick has always been known to provide exceptional customer service. My experience today was completely unprofessional and totally lacking quality customer service. Based on today s visit I would not recommend Zimbrick to anyone I know.

I've been driving for the last hour without windshield wipers working to my Touareg. Stopped by, asked them to help me, I have kids and wife with me, all they had to do is check the fuse panels. But they didn't. Said that it's more than a fuse, how would they know if they didn't even checked it???

Service sucks. Brought my 06 TDI in because it was not starting in the cold. They gave me a quote of 150 to look at it and that included the battery. Thought it was a good deal. Zimbrick pushed the car I dropped off into there heated shop to replace a battery? Never checked the glow plugs. Stared right up after sitting in there heated shop. Next morning I go to start it nothing. Took it to some jiffy lube shop, they stuck a reader on each plug.. took less then 3 min to tell me my plugs were bad. The 19 year old at some small shop was more knowledgeable than the people at the Volkswagen dealership. Save your time/money and go somewhere else...

Went here for the first time because my windshield...

Went here for the first time because my windshield fluid stopped spraying. Made an appointment beforehand and showed up, and the entire process was hassle free.

Brad and everyone there, including cashier, were extremely friendly, professional, and helpful. To be honest I was bit worried that they would overcharge me for unnecessary repairs but that wasn't the case. They correctly identified the issue that my fuse was blown, took care of any open recall issue, and general maintenance at no extra cost. I knew the issue was either fuse or water pump. Brad explained it to me that they did not feel it was necessary to replace the pump at the time.

The service was exceptional and the customer lounge was also very pleasant. They also have $10 coupon on the website for repairs over $50. I was impressed by their prompt service overall, which seems to be rare to find these days.

Always loved VW cars, this was my first one, my mom has owned multiple from this dealer. there are a few items that are covered by my warranty that I need to have fixed. I use my car every day for work and to have it fixed under the warranty they will NOT give me a loaner they just expect me to be without a car for an entire month. If you want to buy a car I would not recommend a VW cause it will need to be covered for its warranty at Zimbrick.

I've been here a few times in the last year, and every time my expectations have been exceeded. When I needed new tires during the pandemic, I knew they would do a great job. Everyone I saw was wearing a mask, my car was wiped down before I got it back, and I was able to have a completely contactless experience. I especially appreciate working with Rob M. in the service department. He does a fantastic job explaining what repairs need to be done & why without talking down to me. I will be back again soon.

Great experience working with the people at Zimbrick. Marcel helped me find a car that was in my price range and was exactly what I was looking for. They were not pushy and gave me as much time as needed to make my decision. Marcel emphasized that his goal was to have the car sell itself which is how car-buying should be. After deciding on purchasing a red 2013 VW Jetta TDI I contacted my local dealer. However, the experience left me questioning my decision to purchase a vehicle from them. I then turned to the internet and found Zimbrick Volkswagen had the vehicle I wanted to purchase and looked like a reputable establishment. I requested information on the vehicle I was interested in and immediately received emails and phone calls from Zimbrick within the hour.
I made an offer to purchase the vehicle and started my 2-1/2 hour drive to purchase my vehicle that same day.
After meeting my Salesman, Scott Ecker, I knew I had made the right decision in choosing Zimbrick VW. He was very knowledgeable in all the features of my new vehicle and explained them in detail. I will now drive the extra miles to have all future service done on my vehicle at Zimbrick, as I trust they will take good care of me. Thank you to a great experience with all the staff at Zimbrick Volkswagen of Madison!!

I have been a customer since 2005 when I used to live in Madison. The always remembered Matt Baumgartner was very attentive and supportive. Even though I live in Milwaukee now (since 2012), I still prefer to come to Zimbrick for my car needs. The fantastic staff at Zimbrick always took great care of my old VW Passat; and now they take good care of my VW Golf. Casey Nimmer and Brad Smith are truly exceptional. Thank you always for your time and dedication. I truly appreciate it. Please, keep up with the great job! You guys rock big time!

My experience with Zimbrick could not have been better. We started internet shopping as we were looking for the difficult to find Touareg TDI. I could tell from the first telephone call that Dale was honest and thoughtful. It was scary to be in Idaho and buy a car, sight unseen, in Wisconsin. Dale and Zimbrick were awesome in their support and constant communication. Would highly recommend them!

For the past 25 years, I've purchased several vehicles from and had several more serviced by Zimbrick of Madison because they treat me with respect and sincerity. From the first time I experienced the genuine Zimbrick difference, I have trusted no other dealership for my vehicle purchases and maintenance. Their brand knowledge, unsurpassed friendliness, and willingness to do the job right the first time, every time, is the reason I have 100% confidence in the team. The service advisors greet me by my first name every time I walk in! I love that! I recommend Zimbrick to all my friends and I recommend them to you. My wife an I own a 2008 and 2012 VW Jetta. Typically I change the oil in the cars, but I was very busy so my wife recently (July 2014) took the 2008 to Zimbrick VW on the east side of Madison. The oil was changed along with a couple other minor things she was told she needed to replace. Needless to say, a simple oil change turned into a $130 visit. We got the car home and parked it. A couple of hours later I noticed something leaking from under the car which turned out to be engine oil. We brought the car back to Zimbrick to have them fix it. They said the problem was spilled oil in the engine cavity was dripping down and there was nothing wrong with the car. Based on the 3 foot diameter oil stain I have on my driveway, that was A LOT of oil that was spilled when they were filling it. A week later it is still dripping oil. Paying Zimbrick to do the oil change was supposed to save me time, but has done anything but that.

A lot of other reviews state how nice the service staff is at Zimbrick. I cannot deny that as they have always been very nice to my wife. I would warn all those looking for service there though. The sales people may be very nice, but the people actually doing the work on your car are obviously amateurs if they can't even get an oil change right. I do not plan on returning to Zimbrick and if you are reading this review, I would take your business to one of the many other service shops around the Madison area.

While 800 miles away from home we encountered some difficulties with the vehicle. Mr. Rob was kind enough to schedule a slot immediately, ensure a loaner vehicle was available. And explain the process thus allievating our fears. His professionalism, courtesy, and knoweledge were greatly appreciated. Would highly recommend this service department. Many thanks

5 stars for Rob, Service Advisor, who provided fantastic customer service today!!! Rob has been helpful and responsive for all of my service visits. My review today was prompted because he made coordination of my service appt. and rides so easy and perfectly timed. I could have had a major work schedule snafu, but he saved the day! THANK YOU, ROB!!!

Purchased a used VW from Zimbrick in October 2017 and had a very pleasant experience from the time I arrived at the dealership to closing the deal and picking up the car. Coming from a bigger city, my husband and I hadn't owned a car in almost a decade and Bill and team made it easy to navigate the transition back to car ownership.
