The food was good and plentiful. The staff was amazing especially for how busy it was. I highly recommend getting the bloody Mary! Offs expensive but worth it.
The food here is good...but not THAT great to command such a price. The sides were delicious but we didn't think the fried chicken was spectacular. Certainly different than KFC but not necessarily better. Service started excellent but slowed considerably after the food was served. We waited a long time for soft drink refills. Overall it was a good experience but worth about half the price. "All you can eat" sounds great but few people actually eat much more than a typical single restaurant portion anyway.
Over priced and flavorless! Went with the family and ended up regreting the $31.95 per person I had to pay. There was a buffet, with a few things tho choose from. However, none of which had flavor. The prime rib was cut very thin and given very little of, the ham was dry and very hard to chew. The other items looked as if they were prepared weeks ahead of time and just thrown on the buffet. I ended up eating mashed potatoes & gravy as nothing looked or tasted edible. I ordered a Sprite/Seria mist and it was highly watered down. When requesting a refill the waitress filled with water several times even after being told it wasn't water. When the bill finally arrived I was charged the same price for my 11year old as myself and husband. It wasn't, until I pointed twice that she was 11 and her meal of potatos, salad and banana cake should only by $14.95 did she finally agree to change it, but only after making the comment "you should of advised me she was not an adult when you ordered!" Then walked away, leaving my credit card at the table. She took an additional 25 minutes to go change the bill, before bringing it back and stating the receipt needed to be filled out completely and that 20% gratuity would be added. I asked why there was a 20% gratuity charge for a table of 4. But she walked away, i filled the paper out NOT authorizing such gratuity as this wasn't posted anywhere, nor was I advised during reservations. I waited another 20 minutes for her to come get my card and another 15 before she ran my card and brought it back without a receipt for myself. Only the one to sign. We only went here because we stayed at Zenders Splash Village, and wasn't sure this was where the reservations were for. Within hours of getting back to our room, both my daughters, husband and I all felt ill and took turns using the restroom all night. I'm gonna say is safe we got a dose of good poison! As from 9 p.m. on into the next day we were violently vomiting and dealing with diarrhea. Its safe to say, I'd never visit again, Christmas or not it was horrible service.
Their chicken dinner is second to none. From the uniquely delicious fried Chicken to the buttered noodles everything here is delicious. The staff is extremely courteous and knowledgeable of not only the restaurant's history , but the town of Frankenmuth.
fantastic person who waited on us food is always good
It is a good restaurant. I've never experienced any bad things there like others have. If you don't want to pay as much go down stairs to Z- Cafe. It isn't as fancy as the upstairs dinning room ,but you get the same food.
Amazing food. Waitress went above and beyond for my 4 year old grandson's birthday, including bringing him a monster decorated cookie to go with his ice cream and having staff sing happy birthday! Refills of both food and drinks were brought without even asking. We return often, and recommend to everyone we know!
Service was great. Food not so much. The "famous chicken dinner" was extremely bland tasting and overpriced in my opinion. My friend pointed out to me that even the mashed potatoes weren't real. Not coming here again.
So good. You order the all you can eat comes out family style..well worth it..we will definitely be back...
The stars are all for the surrounding ambiance and feel that you get from this place. But even then it s quite out dated and neglected for the glorious building it once must been! Our first time at this restaurant for my sister-in-laws birthday and after many people and even reviews gushing about the chicken this place has! We cook regularly at home....my husband and I both do from scratch. We both ordered the chicken dinner. Bad decision! We usually try different things. Chicken was super dry...did not taste fresh...nor was my plate warm. I did enjoy their bread! We will be returning for yet another year of birthday celebrations...I will have to try something else...I m hopeful we have a better experience
I went with my family this weekend. Very good service. The food was terrible. The chicken was soggy and no flavor. I dont see what all of the hype is about. Felt like I was eating in a cafeteria for high end prices. I do not recommend
They have the best fried chicken along with everything else is awesome
Winner, winner chicken dinner
Always stop when we are here
I know the chicken is supposed to be super good but I found it to be pretty mediocre. It's buffet food brought to your table. It tasted like I was at old country buffet. I'd rather go to KFC or Popeyes. It's a nice "event" for a family but I wouldn't go for the food, the quality was not impressive nor was the atmosphere. Heavy on starches and no veggies. It was also way over priced.
Lots of cute little things in the gift shop. The bakery items are so good! While you are there you can stop by and have them make you some good food.
Overpriced for the buffet of limited options of just ok food. Really nothing spectacular. And slow slow slow service. For the amount you pay you'd like better service. Would never set foot in there again.
Very good food. Worth the visit for dinner and shopping.
Always a fun time. The loft was the best room, I highly recommend it.
We were not impressed with the main courses (especially for the price). Our waitress was nice and gave us a history of the place and city but a quite salesy. It was a fun experience trying all the appetizers and the restaurant was quaint but our expectations were not met when it came to the overall food quality.
It's one of those "gotta go to" places and is especially a treat around Christmas. Family style chicken dinners are a staple.
They've stopped trying to serve good chicken. They've been resting on their laurels for over 30 years. Absolutely no taste unless you like salt. NOT worth the trip for this chicken. Want a chicken dinner in Frankenmuth? Skip Zehnders and Bavarian Inn. There must be better chicken in town.
Chicken was chilly..and dry!..Hillary was an awesome server.
I just love this classic style especially on Thanksgiving.
Love the family style and old elegance of the place. Has been over 20 years since last visit. Have to admit the food was not as good as I remembered, but experience was worth the price and waiter was fantastic
Frankenmuth is always a great place to go but Zehnder's make it a little stressful to eat. This place has pretty decent food but it is quite pricey. On top of that, the waits are very long. Don't attempt to try to have dinner anywhere near the holidays here. Outside of that, everything else about Zehnder's is great. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is very friendly. Definitely recommend checking it out
This place is an incredible piece of American history. Everyone owes it to themselves to make this a destination must. Frankenmuth won t disappoint. One of the coolest places on earth. Zehnder s Fried Chicken is other worldly. Amazing.
Great authentic German atmosphere!! Thw food was incredibly delicious and fresh. This would be a great place for anyone of German heritage or someone wanting to try German food. The prices are well worth it, if you go home hungry from this place then uou better rethink this place!! Great family place, great date place for a couple or even a place for friends.... Will def be back...
Get a lot of food at a hefty price. Their chicken is overrated.
Family style chicken dinner includes 15 items. Get seconds of chicken. Rated 5* but we prefer the deep fried rather than the rotisserie.... as the latter was dry. Healthier but dry.
Safe dining with tables 6+ feet apart; servers in masks.
Had buffet in the basement. $25 per person. I guess it's a thanksgiving feast. Chicken, Turkey dry. Service subpar. Didn't measure up to hype.
Different parts of the country enjoy different types of food.
I bought a chunk of fudge and had the Michigan cherry salad. It was super delicious
What a tourist trap. Go for the experience not the chicken dinner and sides are mediocre at best. Food overall was bland and the table unanimously thought the coleslaw was the best thing on the table. We all left very dissapointed in the quality for the $200+ spent for 4 of us.
Our first visit to basement cafeteria was pretty confusing. Food was fine. Visitor Center had $1 off coupon.
Always a wonderful meal, and top notch service and atmosphere.
Best fried chicken around. Service wasn't as good as normal. We had Jackie as a waitress.
I come here as a family tradition and I always like it. Somethings do well by not changing anything I suppose. It s the same now as it ever was, and it s still just as good
The wait was too long and we had reservations. The was not what we expected.
Had such a wonderful time here at the hotel they had a nice friendly staff we came in on a Tuesday around 1pm and they let us check into our room at that time instead of waiting till 4pm. Rooms were clean and I loved the shower that the shampoo..condtioner...and the shower gel was right on the wall it was convenient to use and I didn't have to use mine would definitely stay here again...cant wait to visit next year...
Everything. The very best place I've eaten. Very happy
Chicken was dry, unseasoned, overcooked, and tasteless. Save your money and go to KFC. What a waste of time and money. Worste chicken I have ever eaten.
Decent food, but frankly, not worth the price. No bueno.
Love having Thanksgiving dinner here very good food
You got Grego It was Great it could not had been Better, the food was real good the Coleslaw the best I had, the Chicken light good outside breading plus Man the Chocolate Cream filled pastry! I would like to go there then buy only them
The family chicken dinner is very good! Served family style of course and all you can eat. Servuce is great. Hifhly recommended.
We had dinner Friday evening (January 31st) at Zehnder s. We have been going there for many years and always enjoy it! Our food was fresh and delicious ,and we had family style so there was plenty of everything . We ate in the Cow Path room, which is a smaller room with booths instead of the large dining rooms . What set our experience apart this time was our server, Erica J. She was great: friendly, talkative, efficient. She said she had only been there a couple of months but she was a pro! A breath of fresh air, lovely. I overheard a couple of her other booths complimenting her also, even if she didn t! We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our dinner!

Zehnder's looks absolutely beautiful at Christmas time.
We went to this restaurant with great hope as the reviews for the most part were very good, unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. The chicken was dry and tasteless, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box and the vegetables were soggy and not very good. I did have a quick look at the prime rib but it was so undercooked I didn t even try it. I am confused as to all the great reviews as I have had far better chicken at KFC. That being said I did love the town and will return but I will definitely be eating elsewhere.
My church group and I went here for the buffet lunch. There was so much good food, and so many choices. It was really delicious, worth the wait!
Our server was amazing! Delicious meal, too. A great place to gather with friends and family!
What an amazing experience! We did the all you can eat family style dinner and it was absolutely delicious. They're known for amazing chicken, but EVERYTHING we had was scrumptious! The bakery is stunning and had so many great options for everyone. And who could pass up the sweet confections?! Yum! We will certainly be returning soon!
My family and I have been to Zenders for many years. The food is always good.
We do not like it when it's the buffet. There are fewer dishes, and, though it takes longer, it is DEFINITELY better when it's served to you. There are no appetisers like the soup, pate, cheese spread, or stollen bread on the buffet.
Fake Germany food, Yuk. I ve been German for six months, this is not what I had before, not even close. 10 dollars maybe ok, $30 is definitely a No No.
Always enjoy dinning here with my family. Service is great food is to die for. Love it..
Love Zehnders! The meal was fantastic and the bakery was incredible!
Love this place, my family visits at least once a year for the family style dinner which is pretty much the only way to go. Make sure to sign up for the rewards as you get a free family style dinner on your birthday month which is a huge plus for my family since most of the birthdays are in October
I took my wife to Frankenmuth for a belated Valentine's day. While there we caught a lunch at Zehnders. Rachea S. Was an awesome waitress, the food was perfect. It made for a perfect day.
this is not a restaurant for seniors to be eating at their food is so loaded with salt that I couldn't even eat their chicken and you can't get chicken without salt their their seasoning is salt City and it could cause heart attacks for seniors salt is not good for a senior so if you seniors want to keep eating there and pay $26 for an 89 cent chicken and I hope the salt doesn't affect you and
Love to come here and eat chicken. Just don't let them rip you off upstairs. Eat downstairs in the cafe. Much more reasonable.
