Excellent waiter chicken pot pie was too dry my salad with chicken delish
This place was wonderful!! Clean and tidy and very wonderful staff. Will definitely be back!!
The Chicken, Chicken noodle soup and chicken livers were good. THe starches were are bland: mashed potato, stuffing, and egg noodles. The beer selection could use some work
Delicious and attentive service beautiful atmosphere
Great chicken dinner plate and the best chicken pot pie we've ever had.
Service was awesome. Food was excellent. Just wish we had received all dark meat as requested.
Bavarian festival is a must!!!! Good beer, good people!!!!!
Very good time for adults and children i would recommend this place. Been there 2 times and going back for sure. Good food and real nice rooms
They have wonderful food, fast service and good prices.
Went there for my birthday and now going to see the Ice Sculpting
Had reservations & were seated on time. Our server was efficient, knowledgable about the menu items & personable. A warm & inviting atmosphere with fantastic food made for a wonderful evening.
Great place to visit on vacation in Michigan. It has an awesome bakery!
Still a nice place to visit for lunch. The chicken was not as good as I remembered; seemed a little underdone.
Great food chicken is excellent and rest of food. Can fill you up with all the different dishes of food on chicken buffet.
I was told this was a great place,to park and it was. I do not recall if they, had a shop if I went inside, a lot of places were closing when we arrived.
Had lunch in the Z cafe. $31 for 2 sandwiches, a handful of fries, handful of chips, 2 pickles, and a couple sodas. Had to wait in line to eat in a glorified school cafeteria, no thanks.
Nothing truly Bavarian about it, but if you want lots of food and like fried chicken, it's not bad.
We go there every year for our birthdays, my husband's is 03/02, and mine is 03/18. We spent 4 nights in Frankenmuth. We love it there.
It had been almost 30 years since my first visit and it was just like I remembered it being, the wait staff was phenomenal and the food was great. The atmosphere takes you back in time to when things were simpler and I love the family style dining there. Don't go there if you're looking for a cheap dinner idea but if you want a quality dinner this is the place to go.
Its a great stop, with family history. Small unique shops. Browse, shop and have dinner.
Excellent Chicken, excellent everything, fantastic atmosphere and service
One of the first restaurants in Frankenmuth with some good or you can eat chicken dinner
Zehnder's is about family and atmosphere. We never go to Zehnder's with a party of less than 10. We have excellent memories of birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. The afore mentioned is why it's hard to say the food is good. The food is not bad, it's definitely not great, it's good, I'd compare it to cafeteria food (we have started referring to it as the beige meal). In spite of the lack luster food, I will always have fond memories associated with the meals had at Zehnder's.
Reserved the place two weeks in advance, still ended up waiting for 30 minutes in line. Service was average. Manager was good and accommodating. Food was Ok.
Very disappointing. Unexpectedly overpriced. Yes, there is an abundance of food, but the majority of food tasted quite bland. Certainly no value for the money.
There is really no other place worth going to for dinner in Frankenmuth. The chicken is pretty good, but only because it's really bad every where else locally. It's also a bit touristy, which doesn't help it's quality.
As a party of four, we went for lunch Aug 28, 2019. The waiter was very friendly and informative. The atmosphere was pleasant and very nicely decorated. Our 2 piece chicken breast was no more than one breast cut into 2 pieces. It was bland, dry and tasted unseasoned. One had a chicken leg that was so salty that he had to lay it aside. The mashed potatoes was also bland. The dressing was over seasoned and stayed on our plates. The manager came to us upon request and treated us with understanding and decency. He assured us that this was not how most felt about their meals and would take our feedback to the kitchen. We suggest starting with small portions to be sure your taste buds would be happy with larger portions.
They always provide top-notch service with delicious home-cooked family style meals. Go hungry and leave full. :)
I'd rate this 10 stars if I could!!! Been a tradition to come to Frankenmuth every year growing up and now I have started the same tradition for 18 years with my kids! I can't put into words how amazing and fun Frankenmuth is! The attractions and awesome ppl who work in this entire town are so nice and so friendly! The memories you make here are never forgotten!
Took the family and had a great time! Very wonderful, chicken has not changed in the 25 years I've been going here, good food, plenty to drink, ice cream for dessert.
The food here is bland and not worth the money. The whole town prides itself as little bavaria yet all of the food is bland 1960's American leftovers. Someone should open a real bavarian restaurant in the town.
A must when in the frankenmuth area, thankfully we live close because the bakery is our "go to" when it comes to celebrating special occasions. They have some of the best desserts around. The restaurant did raise prices a bit and took off some items but all in all still a great experience.
The Holiday Dinner Show with The Marlins was fantastic!
wait staff excellent. Nice dining room. Huge portions lots of food. Food quality ok. Food could be better. Ordered schnitzel with artichoke mushrooms. Buttered noodles waterlogged. Loved cabbage salad! Chocolate cream pie excellent.
Good comfort food, nice atmosphere, always a wait though.
We had a great time here at a friends wedding. Great location and staff!
Ge8 place to see, if you are looking for that special gift go to this town.
Love going here for fish fry. Great buffet and the best perch you can find!
Do not eat in the cow path room ate there 7.25.15 Jennifer was our waitress steer clear she was the worst and slowest waitress ever. I have been eating at this restaurant for 30 years. So sad that the service tarnished my 150 dollar dinner and left a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully they work on getting better caliber of wait staff. Was considering having family reunion at zehnders reconsidering now :(
Pretty good food. The chicken flavoring is good to some bad to others. Good sides though
Always a great time with family. We come to Frankenmuth for Zehnder's splash village and the family style chicken dinner.
Good food. Great friendly service. Took way too long to process the bill!
One of our all time favorite restaurants to meet up with the kids and grandkids. Their "Family Style" chicken dinner is perfect for the family, lots of variety for everyone hitting the table. Be sure to join their birthday club to get a free meal (kids too) during the month of your birthday. Not sure how they make their chicken, but it has breading which is light and delicious.
Basically an upscaled old country buffet with marginally better food and much higher prices. Signature chicken was so dry as to be inedible. Not super impressed by anything else either.
This place is one of our favorite places to eat. Once a year the girls go up to shop lol. Had alot of fun this last trip.
Fantastic service, amazing atmosphere and such great friendly wait staff. I cannot wait to go back. Hands down my favorite restaurant in michigan.
Have been coming to this place for years and it is still extremely good. no matter how long its been since you've been here, its still exactly the way you remember it. I've tried a few things on the menu over time, but the buffet is my favorite thing about this place.
Over priced over rated food but it's the experience I guess nice place.
Disappointing chicken quality and length of time it took for service.
Seated at a booth (6 people + toddler) couldn't use high chair due to blocking aisle. Started entire and expensive experience off on the wrong foot. Poor experience.
Its nothing to brag about. The all you can eat buffet was 22.95 for adults and 9.95 for kids. It's nothing special and limited to chicken and seafood with sides and deserts. I ordered the a sauteed portabella beef. The beef was good 5 star on that, potato was a potato, they gave me cranberry relish with cottage cheese (horrible mixture), the soup they gave us litterally tasted like Campbell's chicken noodle soup. Waiter was good. Total bill for 8 people... 204 dollars.
Message to Zhender: One other thing, you guys, for as much as you charge, need to get some real tables, I litterally hit my knee on the metal folding part under the table numerous times and now my left knee is pretty bruised up. And trying to cram 8 people into 3 tables placed together was not comfortable whatsoever. There was also zero seat space between us and the tables around us. It was really hard to manuever around. If you guys can improve the seating, prices, and not run the place like a 4 star KFC, I will adjust my review and rating.
I am sorry, but i have to be honest because the atmosphere does not match the product or the conditions.
Not recommended.
I had passed through Frankenmuth several times before, but this was the first time I stopped for a meal. The lunch prices are high; I believe my "two piece" chicken meal was $15.95 before tax & tip. I put the number of pieces in quotes because it was really only one piece -- a breast section cut in half. I had asked the waitress if the 'white meat' on the menu was a breast, and she said yes, but did not tell me that it was only a half. The chicken itself was dry and bland. On the flip side, the stuffing was way over-seasoned with sage (or something very similar to sage). The mashed potatoes did not have much flavor, and they contained large solid chunks. I guess that they do this to remind me that they are real (not instant) potatoes, but I like my mashed potatoes mashed. The Zehnder's building itself is pretty cool, but not enough for a second star after paying way too much for a sub-par meal.
What a wonderful place with great food and great service!
Old world charm and good food. Array of side dishes was interesting enough to be worth it to try once, but way too overpriced to do regularly. I can think of better places for a family of 5 to spend $150 on dinner!
Good food , restaurant has been there for many years tables to close food a bit pricey
It is a real nice place to take the family and eat a family style dinner
The buffet is very good but expensive. The family style chicken dinner is slightly less. Good food, fun town.
Food was terrible. Too much salt. Felt rushed to eat
Get the traditional family chicken dinner, the amount of food you get for the price is rather impressive. The staff is absolutely wonderful, willing to go above and beyond for you. Plus their uniforms combined with the decor really make it a unique experience! Famous for a reason
Great chicken and family style food that reminds me of my childhood. The Zehnders family keeps a wonderful tradition going with excellence.
