The Young Vic

The Young Vic
Lost count of how many BRILLIANT performances I have enjoyed at this innovative theatre.
I admire this edgy venue for always taking risks quite recently I had one of the best theatre experiences of my 58 years as an enthusiastic theatre goer I average around twenty a year.
LIFE OF GALILEO Went so far off the scale the needle broke off! The layout had changed so much I was wondering if an entire new venue had been created.
I was in the round on an easy cushion and motivated by well this is different DIFFERENT? The cast were also with us amongst us three hours for very affordable prices and OMG the visuals in the round I got the maximum advantage the ceiling projections were WOW!
The Young Vic takes live theatre to a level I have never experienced previously Keep Taking Risks
If you read this review and wonder OK should I? 1000% YES Don t hesitate JFDI Just F**KING DO IT.

Short walk from Southwark Tube. Although the theatre, I guess, seats 1000+ it feels quite intimate. Nice stage layout. Good seating. Friendly atmosphere. Food and bar at venue. Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Pleasant staff. Great play (Death of a Salesman). Through enjoyable evening. First time I've been.

I've only been to the restaurant and the food has always been really great and often there are unusual dishes to try. It's best at the quieter times of day and the balcony is a nice feature. I do find the drinks here pretty darn expensive though!

Great little theatre, some really good shows. If the show you want to see is sold out you can always queue for returns on the night (1 hour before), staff are nice and will try and squeeze you in if they can! Good Japanese restaurant across the road too.

Went to the cafe for lunch with a colleague Always good service and pleasant efficient staff. Haven't been to see a play there for a while but their work is always interesting and often excellent.

Can get extremely busy but being overcrowded in the bar/restaurant add to the buildup of anticipation for whatever production is current. Been to some delightful plays at this theatre. Love the productions 'in the round'. Seating on benches can be a bit tight on occassion.

The place is beautiful, and it has a lovely vibe. However, the tapas were terribly overpriced for what was given; although tasty, rations were quite small.

There was a nice selection of beers, cyder, and even more than one choice for non alcoholic beers.

The crowd was overall nice, which means no one was talking particularly loud, or being disrespectful.

It is close to Southwark station, so pretty well connected as well.

Have eaten here a few times and it's lovely. Breakfast was great: smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough were lovely, great coffee and nice apple juice. Friend had awesome pancakes. Service slightly slow considering it was quiet, but charming.

Auditorium was great. Close up and personal to the actors. Very busy bar no quiet chat there, not sure if or when quiet times are at this bar. Staff available to locate you to your seat.

Lively venue. It offers a true sense of involvement with the performances.
I saw the death of a salesman and thoroughly enjoyed it. A truly unique way of telling the story. The singing was outstanding. The four main characters were played to perfection

Went recently to watch s children's show, how wonderful! I had already been to this theatre previously and I was curious to see how they would have changed the stage. I like that the stage is so versatile, literally a surprise at every visit!

Go for the theatre, go for the bar. It's a good size but gets packed quickly in the evenings, and feels like an exciting place to be. There's always an interesting or quirky show on by respectable companies and there's a lot of great pubs and bars around to carry on your evening for the post-show discussion! #DavidBowieis

Good venue, medium, pedestrian productions. Has always disappointed, but I keep going back. Blue/Orange recently was the latest in a dull series. Jane Horrocks' last show another, to name but two in 2016. *sigh*

Not been to the Theatre Space yet, but the Bar and restaurant are great. Food is good and the vibe is relaxed. The coming and going of the audience add to the overall ambience, but be warned, it can be busy - so be social and share your table.

The Telegraph says it the best when summing up the Young Vic "The best theatre in London" and it really is! With a lovely bar and restaurant selling amazing food to the jaw dropping shows that they put on. This is one theatre I know I am never disappointed. Combine that with their flawless inclusion of local youth groups into their shows and a drive to bring diversity to theatre, it really is the best theatre in London!

This theatre show some really interesting performances from newer professionals. Great atmosphere both in the theatre and bar area. In fact, great spot for a drink even if you're not seeing any show.

As somewhat of a burger connoisseur I was blown away by the burger. The food was fantastic, fresh and incredibly tasty. Cool spot for meetings, dates, lunch on the go. The staff were great and if you fancy a tan there are seats outside. Fun menu and of course they've got great theatre also!

Very good productions, have enjoyed almost all of the shows I've seen at this theatre (been to 4 so far). Their production of Fun Home and Death of a Salesman are in the top 10% of the 200+ shows I've seen.

Great stage - went to watch paly about Lumuba/Congo. However, in common with most London theatres, the seatin areas are quite cramped. Overall good seating and balcony layouts so well recommended. Restaurant and bar also good stuff!

Not that much friendly and cozy place if you have to eat your food standing because others just occupy chairs on the restaurant/bar without buying anything and the staff just choose to ignore this...

Very very poor behaviour by some of the staff and a lack of understanding of the points of view of customers. Went to watch the convert and I am disappointed at how I was treated. I was not even able to collect my personal belongings and leave despite explaining my circumstances. The person that I spoke to at the front desk to make a complaint when I was eventually able to leave the venue was equally unhelpful. They do not offer refunds and staff lack training regarding providing a good service and customer satisfaction. I will never ever attend a play at the venue again.
