Fabulous food with a slight twist on the traditional Chinese dim sum menu. Every dish we had was bursting with flavour and the various textures were perfect. The items with a little spade next to them are house specialties. I highly recommend Yauatcha for dim sum and other Chinese dishes. It is pricier than standard Chinese restaurants but considering the standard of food fully deserves their 1 Michelin star I recommend at least one visit if you can.
I had high expectations coming here since everyone who had recommended Yauatcha has good taste in dim sum. The shrimp dumpling (har gow) wrapper was soggy and fell apart quickly. The shao mai was bland and hard. The crispy duck was deep fried and dry. We could barely eat it without choking on the dry flesh. That duck died for a bad cause. Seafood soup dumpling was the only one that was acceptable. The broth was a bit salty but was countered by the bland dumpling.
Everything was bland and lacked the basics of dim sum: an al dente wrapper, moist duck but crispy skin, and flavor. I think they focused too much on the expensive ingredients instead of actually making it delicious.
We went for the dim sum tasting menu. The design of the restaurant is very smart. There are lots of blue tones and a large aquarium full of fish. The service was attentive and slick. Our food was served quickly and professionally. Good service is such an important part of a restaurant experience.
The food was very good. I think my favourite thing was a small spring roll stuffed with mushrooms and flavoured with truffle. The dim sum was high quality. Although I have to say it didn't blow me away. You can get equally good elsewhere at lower prices. I recommend The Orient in China Town.
A good experience and a lovely meal in nice surroundings. I would definitely go back again to try other dishes on the a la cart menu.
I came here with company for a pre-theatre dinner. As a dim sum lover, I must say I came with high expectations, but it's sad to say that we left feeling rather dissatisfied with our food. We ordered steamed barbecue pork buns, king crab dumplings, soft shell crab, and scallop siew mai. The baos were filled with very little pork, king crab dumplings and scallop siew mai not particularly tasty, and the soft shell crab a remarkably small portion for the price we paid. I have to admit that they did justice to the soft shell crab though. For dessert, we had the Jasmine mousse which I found pleasant and interesting.
What made me unhappy was the fact that I was told we could only choose to tip the full service charge or none at all, which made me a little uncomfortable because while I was not accustomed to paying 9 pounds worth of service charge, I also felt like it was not right of me to pay nothing for the service.
All in all... it's a nice experience, but I wouldn't recommend this one-michelin star restaurant to serious dim sum lovers. An average restaurant in Hong Kong could do better.
Seriously bad service attitude for a long time, but ordering is really busy, but when you can order, you can point to the dish in your hand, and you can't treat the guests with this attitude, let alone the restaurant. Not to say to what extent the price is here but this attitude will never come again
Delicious dim sum combined with beautiful French patisserie. Some of the most delicious macaroons I have ever tasted. Sesame and cashew caramel are by far my favourites.
The dim sum was OK but you will find similar quality at China Town. My friend and I have food poisoning after eating at Yautcha, will not go back again. Service was not good, waited for very long time until we catch someone to take our order.
Food and deco are excellent. Shame about the servers poor atitude. If we dont say anything after meals we wil sit here untill the end of this century Serving atitude is totally amateur to compare the food quality.
3 stars only because the service was terrible. I have been to Yauatcha several times before but this visit was not good. Food was good not upto the standard I would expect based on previous visits.
Great chinese food. The Wagyu is unique. The Dim Sum has a tasty variety. Love to have a few glasses of Tattinger. I like going back. Had the variety of Macaroons and will not have again.
Great food and ambience. Really enjoyed the evening. Only one thing which wasn't ideal - we were made to wait for 20 minutes despite having made a booking.
The food was good and two waiters who served me were very friendly, but some are really rude! You don't even salute. The atmosphere doesn't suit me. The music was too loud even for a restaurant.
Excellent service, as you would expect from Hakkasan. Good selection of dimsum all day in a contemporary setting - would highly recommend the wagyu puffs. Save room for dessert, they do designer French patisserie.
Oh my days, what a fantastic place! Their prawn and beancurd cheung fun is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten! The variety of fancy wines such as Brunello di Montalcino are top choice and the cocktails, oh the cocktails...! had the most amazing Pink and Tonic, will be returning soon so I can try the other ones. I recommend you get a few starters, mains come in decent portions as well. Did not have time for their luscious desserts but we did get some macaroons (rose, jasmin, violet, sesame, passion fruit and tea) sooooo tasty!
Fabulous dim sum and great cocktails. This place is permanently packed, for good reason. The food has had this high standard for many years now. Service is friendly. The place has both ground floor and basement spaces. The basement has quite a cool vibe, with a bar and fish tanks. The ground floor has more light.
Delicious and wide ranging menu means you can please everyone at the table and usually get a chance to try something new every time. Their macaroons and lychee martini are also a must!
I went there with little expectations to be honest as often Chinese cuisine tastes different in Europe than it does there but I m completely under the spell!
I booked a table for 2 guests from overseas and myself recently.
First of all, we asked the male waiter who was taking our orders to recommend the popular dishes to us but he just stood there saying nothing. Then we tried asking him again as we thought he might not have heard us, he still didn't say anything so we gave up and picked from the menu randomly.
Then in the middle of our meal, I waved and called out to one of the staff standing near us as I wanted some chilli oil. She saw me but then decided to look away. That was shocking as I have never encountered this kind of humiliating behaviour before in any restaurant in London!
As other reviews found online say, there are other Chinese restaurants around that area with much better service and good food at lower prices. It's basically not worth visiting Yauatcha.
I've been to Yauatcha for both a meal, and just for tea and a cake. It's beautifully decorated, but I'd particularly recommend specifying downstairs when reserving your seat for a meal - the basement area is very cool (as seen in the film More
surprisingly delicious. i was sceptical in the beginning with all the fancy names for the ramen, I prefer the traditional types. but as i said, it was yummy and the staff were friendly. thumbs up!
Good Chinese food in a vibrant and energetic setting. Dumplings were particularly good, and the aromatic duck was also flavoursome and moist - much better than your average Chinese, but not as good as the best in the capital.
Came in to look at the pastries, ended up having afternoon tea while people were lining up for dim sum. Fancy cocktails, teas and superb desserts. Recommended
Simply one of the worst restaurant I have been to in London. We had to ask three times for our tea, and the reply we got from the waitress was "everyone is asking for their tea, I don't know what's going on". Constantly we were waiting for our food. I had to repeat several times before I can get what I ordered. And they missed one dish. When taking the money the waiter asked me how it went, I said we were waiting for our food. And he did not even apologise. Finally, the food is great, but not worth a visit. I would avoid this restaurant. Seriously.
Terribly slow service, had to remind staff multiple times about drinks we had requested. Service charge was of course included by default. Just a shame we didn t get it.
We ordered the vegan set and sparkling water. The sparkling water was served with a moth... They replaced the glass but not the bottle. Then came the dishes. The rice was dry, vegetables we're greasy they brought us pork dumplings... The atmosphere/music is too loud. It wasn't my first visit but is certainly was my last.
Always love coming here for delicious dim sum. Really tasty food and great cocktails. Ask to sit downstairs as it has a better atmosphere than the ground floor.
The place is very attractive, especially the lower floor. Very set umy lively. Like everything in multicultural London. We also made a selection of Dim Sum and lacquered duck. We succeed in everything. Very good One recommendation, the brave ones who ordered a bloody mary snack at the bar commented that it was extremely spicy.
It's old but still atmospheric and delicious, especially the Cheng fun varieties, which weren't hand-made by the early dim sum masters in 2004, but still retain their great taste. Dessert is satisfying almost every menu
Beautiful decor, swish and electric. When I visited it was super busy (you couldn't move) however we had a great time, service was slow due to the amount of tables I guess the waitress seemed rushed and couldn't explain or recommend dishes she seemed under pressure this didn't matter, great night not cheap though
I absolutely love this place, we've been here a number of times and each time; it never disappoints. Food is great, cocktails are lovely and the staff are wonderful! We usually get to sit downstairs which has a nice fish tank. However we sat upstairs this time, not that it matters because, well the food is so good! Prawn and bean curd is one of the best dishes in my eyes, a must have!
Amazing dim sum and Chinese food. Excellent service (we actually just asked the waiter to bring us his favourite things on the menu and everything was exquisite with a lot of things we wouldn't otherwise have tried). Also, far less cramped than either of the hakkasans so I much prefer this setting and still has the signature venison puffs and tea smoked ribs etc.
I would rate them a zero if there was an option. Reserved a table for 9.30pm for 7 people, we got to the restaurant on time but were told please wait at the bar while the table is being prepared and someone will come to collect you when More
