I only ate at the Claim Jumper restaurant, but it was delicious, and wonderful, with great service.
I only ate at the Claim Jumper restaurant, but it was delicious, and wonderful, with great service.
Comfortable, right on the waterfront with great views
The rooms could use a little updating, popcorn ceilings and refrigerators with no freezer section and no microwave in the rooms. If you want something microwaved you have to ask the people behind the front desk.
It's a double bed, almost a single bed. Two are too small for you. Other than that, it's clean and fine. There is a sea in front of you, and you can enjoy watching the boat. Parking fees must be paid separately.
Staff was good. This is definitely an older property, but the beds were absolutely amazing! Staff was super friendly and always looking out for an tourist looking people ( you know the dazed what now look). 11/10 would stay here again. Amazing views of the bay, especially at night. However hotel management, one thing..... why do you not have a hot tub?
Great location. Clean rooms. Friendly staff
Google Maps will send you to the back entrance, so it's difficult to find the main lobby. Enter from Harbor Drive to get the front entrance.
Great location. Rooms are not bad. Customer service wasn't so great.
Just used the parking lot but that went well and the staff was very nice and helpful.
Rooms were compact but clean. Main complaint is that the hotel advertises it has free wifi that is described as high speed internet access, but the the wifi is non existent. I called the front desk and they were no help. They said to try in the morning. I called a number provided in the guest book and spoke to a rep for 2 hours. They ran several tests but no improvement. Finally, they said they'd call a tech to come but no one did. I searched for past reviews and it seems like this has been a persistent problem. For a hotel in the city that hosts conferences, there should be wifi throughout the building.
Great location, with relatively easy access. Friendly staff, nice rooms, beautiful views. Only downside is parking is outrageous. Forget about parking anywhere else. Nothing around. And meter enforcement is like Nazi's and take their job serious.
PROS:
The check in and check out process was swift. The front desk staff were courteous and funny. We were given great tickets for events around the harbor. The room was a good size and the view from the balcony was divine.
CONS:
The only things I did not care for were parts of the bathroom. Our bathroom door was a non-locking pocket door with predominately frosted glass. The bathroom did not have a fan or a vent so everyone else in the room got to hear your bodily orchestra and smell the ungodliness of your insides. The shower was a standing only shower with clear sliding window doors. It happened to be situated parallel to the frosted window pocket door, just far enough that your silhouette can still be seen. You will see things that can never be unseen. You are about to become agonizingly close in so many spheres, you won't want to call each other for a long while; however, not doing so after this would just feel wrong.
So, be a good friend and hang out on the balcony and close the curtains when someone uses the restroom for ANY reason. You'll thank me in the morning...or you'll regrettably understand.
Visit the restaurant at the wyndham hotel during a trip with the family. Good food, bad service. Waitress when passing by our table and we try to get your attention we are completely ignored. The order was served badly and without at any time apologizing.
Solid spot. The view, water, and fresh air is unbeatable. The front desk service was ok. Didn't think they were too friendly. Hotel room was a bit old and the closet is in the bathroom but does the job. Try to get a higher floor, on the balcony with a couple of drinks and your set!
Not enough parking, when you have to park in the upper level in building 3 there are ONLY STAIRS TO CARRY YOUR LUGGAGE TO THE LEVEL WHER YOU GET THE ELEVATOR TO YOUR FLOOR. If your room is in the front of the building you have a great view of the ocean, ships and a GREAT SUNSETS. ITS CLOSE TO MANY OF THE SITES,. SEAPORT VILLAGE, LITTLE ITALY
Nice location. Nice view. room was small, but nice view. Had no hot water the day of check out. I had a late flight that day and needed to shower before I check out. The front desk was very dry when we called. Also very dry/rude when we tried to store our bag. I would say over all nice place and nice location but bad customer service. bad enough to only give one star.
When I told the front desk about some (fairly serious) problems I had with our first room, they were nice enough to move us to a room that incidentally faced the water. Wow. What a difference. Incredible view If you have a choice, definitely face the water. Five stars for their customer service at the front desk.
The rooms are really nice and comfortable. Also it has awesome views to both the San Diego bay and downtown. Perfect location for a SD visit.
The parking lot location is a little confusing if you are driving north on Harbor. It's hard to find the lobby, but they already know that. Great view of the harbor and Claim Jumper right there as well as Ruth's Chris.
Love it! Last minute reservations with special accessible room at a great time. Staff was super friendly from the Valet to the housekeeping. Great view from Tower II
For the price I paid, it should of had a view something other then roof equipment.
Wi-Fi was severely lacking. Everything else was pretty good.
Not satisfied with this hotel at all. I understand hotels will be loud but this was ridiculous! There was a military ball on Saturday night. I am all for having a good time and partying. As well I'm a huge supporter of our military but this was excessive. Yelling, cussing, screaming, slamming doors from 11pm till 4am. I only say 4am because I write this as I can't sleep at 4:15am. Glad I don't have children, it would be a nightmare. So that was the main issue, expensive and tight parking is annoying but its Marina/downtown area. Given 2 beds instead of a king. No spa. Clean room except for shower. Nice view. Nice location. Bottom line I should have spent the extra money and stayed at embassy suites, Hyatt,etc... Or stayed somewhere cheaper for similar experience.
I stayed here three nights on my stop from Denver and absolutly loved it. I was very impressed with the eatery in the frorway in front on the reception.
Room is nice, but not extravagant. Bed is very comfy. Amenities and services have been perfect so far
Internet was horrifically slow which made this hard for business.
Nice am comfortable rooms. A great location in down town San Diego. Close to several of the tourist location here him San Diego. The only down side is you have to pay extra for parking. The room was nice and clean. I had no issues while I was there. I would recommend it to anyone especially if you don't have a car. Lol
We stayed 4 nights. Two nights we had no working AC. They sent maintenance over twice to fix the problem but it did not work. When we tried to communicate that the repairs did not work we were met with disbelief. We spent two cold nights in the hotel. Also the water in the shower would not heat fully either! So cold nights and cold showers. We had to request a room change to solve the problem, it was not even offered. They did upgrade our room but honestly we were surprised by that considering the general uncaring attitude of the staff. In addition to that my husbands pajama pants were accidentally taken by housekeeping when they changed our sheets. When we asked for help from staff to look for the missing pants, we were told they would look and someone would follow up but no one did. We had to check in repeatedly to request that someone look for the pants. Finally after 3 nights we got my husbands pants back. Honestly the pants going missing was not upsetting it was the lack of trying to help that was frustrating. To top it all off, we were charged for calls down to the front desk. DONOT use the phone in the room they charge you $1.50 a call. We had to go to the desk before we left to request these charges be removed. Thankfully they did remove them but geez!!!!
Great amenities, clean, and decent room. Stayed at other 4 star hotels but was fairly unimpressed with this one. Loud staff in the hallways in dead of morning until 3am, and walls so thin you can hear the neighboring TV's. As for hotel price/satisfaction, this hotel is a bit overpriced for the basic room rates.
On the plus side, there is a convenient shuttle to and from the airport and 3 tour locations.
Definitely look for other neighbouring places better worth your money.
Great location. But simple and somewhat outdated rooms. Valet was on point though 5 stars for them!
The food served were really small portions. Overpaid for the service
A little outdated. Comfortable beds. TERRIBLY SLOW INTERNET.
It took me 2 hours to connect to their wi-fi. And it only allow 3 devices to connect, extra device will be charged based on data. I paid $300 to live in a second floor without any sea view. Instead I spent 2 hours to connect wifi. Very bad service of front desk, they kick the ball to another external company about their internet. It really really really sucks!!!
Great views from the bay facing room. Ideally situated to walk to restaurants and the Midway tour. We got off our Disney Cruise and walked across the street to the hotel. The only complaint is they did not offer drinks in the pool area. I had to walk 2 blocks to Rite Aid and purchase.
Clamjumpers was delicious with huge portions. I got the widowmaker burger and it was one of the best burger I've ate.
Good bed, good shower, close to where I needed to be.
Management at the Claim Jumper Restaurant was quick to honor my Landry's Select Club card. Service was great.
It was a great place to sit on the balcony and watch the holiday bowl balloon parade
Very clean, comfortable, reasonably priced room with an ocean view.
Love the hotel, perfectly centered to walk all the Pierre's and the museum's.
We go here for the San Diego Tango Festival. The tango festival is awesome! We did not stay at the hotel. The 5 stars are for the festival!
I think the best thing about this place was the bed. It was amazingly comfortable. I hated the cheap paper cups they leave for guests in the room. I also think they are very stingy with toiletries, towels, etc.
Great location, friendly staff. Need more coffee in room.
Everything you would expect from the Wyndham and more.
Nice location, parking is expensive but the meters across the street are free from 8pm-10am.
Great views of the harbor, great balconies. Wifi is painfully slow, but free so I guess you get what you pay for. The rooms are average.
If anyone is looking for deals for hotel rooms check . booked a resort on there and they had the best prices any where!
I had my vacation somewhere here in our region a week ago. I was so lucky that I booked for a one night stay in this elegant and wonderful hotel. For me, this is one of the best hotels that I've ever encountered. Their staves were so accommodating and courteous. Huge thanks to all of you! Highly recommended!
Speechless! Probably the best hotel I've stayed in so far!
Not as nice as pictured. Room was mediocre and amenities were ok. Wish the pool was heated more so it could actually be used, it was freezing! No hot tub either. We ended up cancelling after the first night and going to the marriot marquis.
The location of the hotel is excellent
The view is amazing
The hotel is clean but of average standard
Nice, clean and friendly! My kids loved this place and keep asking to go back.
Wyndham is a trashy place they treat their costomers like they don't matter
I bought supposedly one of the top rooms there and I paid $190/night. The quality was very disappointing. The room was very small, the heater didn't work and had to be fixed. The room was overall outdated. Parking was extremely expensive @ $32/night for self Park or $40/night for valet. The tv was small. The coffee machine was dusty. Not to mention they will try to catch you at the bottom of the elevator to get you to sign up for a presentation to buy timeshare. Pros: the water bottle in the room was $7 but they forgave it. The view to the ocean is very nice. Bed was nice. Room service was good. AC was quiet when it worked. Convenient location.
The hotel is nice. Not pretending to be more than it is, and having all the major necessities. Clean, friendly, and great location to start knowing the city - near light rail, the bay, and super easy to get to/from the airport. Can't beat the views, daytime of night.
There for a meeting and the coffee shop was closed.
Just used the parking garage while in downtown San Diego. $5 an hour, not bad for downtown parking
Good views of the bay. Very close to the airport. Nice rooms.
Friendly staff, stuck to the lobby, but everyone was attentive and courteous. Felt very welcome
We will never stay at this property again. If I could give you lower than one star, I would. We booked a room for three nights and requested a crib for our daughter, who is 16 months old. We let you know that we would be traveling from out of state, and you assured us that a crib would be provided at no extra charge. Upon our arrival, you informed us that there were no more cribs available for the night and that other families had come in, WHO HAD NOT REQUESTED CRIBS WHEN THEY RESERVED THEIR ROOMS, asked for a crib and were accommodated. Your solution?? We can send a crib to your room....TOMORROW. WHAT?!!? How does that give our child a place to sleep TONIGHT??? You then told us that you could provide us with extra pillows and blankets. Not at all a suitable alternative to a CRIB. On top of that, it took over an hour to get the extra pillows and blankets delivered to our room. Unacceptable. Please explain to me what the point of requesting a crib, and having its availability for our planned arrival day confirmed by one of your staff is, if a crib will not be set aside for our room. Having worked in the customer service industry for over 15 years, and also being a reasonable human being, I feel that I am more than qualified to say that this is a terrible way to do business and create customer loyalty. Like I said, we will NEVER be staying at this property again, nor will we be recommending it to anyone else.
2 day stay, room smelled of sewer gas entire stay. staff said it was san diego CITY problem nothing they could do, and since rooms have no fan in bathroom it was just bad entire visit, plus lite in bath was burnout - they had 2 days to fix it but did not, plus ice machine on our floor did not work. They have ONE printer for entire hotel, which one guest selfishly held hostage for several hours. Staff should have noticed and intervened - did not. Little common sense at play here. Not business friendly.
Very clean large rooms and comfortable beds, facing the sea near the center.
1 minute from the terminal boarding cruises
Nice hotel, good location but do not offer small fridge which is important if you are traveling with infants or toddlers. Needs some upgrades.
Overpriced hotel on the waterfront that as decor that could still be from 1989. The staff is friendly though and libations are only as far as downstairs with Claim Jumper so staggering back to your room is easy. Beautiful views on the waterfront with not too much of the vagrant/transient crowd that likes to hang out in the downtown area. If you can find a deal on the room?? Maybe...
The hotel room was decent except for minimal closet space (in the bathroom!) and poor sound mitigation between rooms and floors. On the plus side, the hotel is dog friendly.
Love it beautiful views enjoied wish stay was longer
DELICIOUS STEAK!
GRILLED TO PERFECTION!!!
This hotel has the perfect location. There's plenty to do within walking distance, and there are two shuttles to other popular areas as well as the airport. The vallet guys were fantasic and went above and beyond for us. Everything went smoothly. Rooms were clean and the beds were super comfortable. The pool was large but no hot tub. We had breakfast delivered to the room and it was delicious and showed up right on time. The value of a room here is much higher than the price. Highly recommended.
No microwave or refrigerator in the room made it difficult to store my insulin. no early morning breakfast spot other than a makeshift Starbucks with curdled yogurt.
View was amazing! Close to Star of India. Valet for 5 hours and apparently under a bird colony..
