The room itself was nice. The issues I had were that there wasn't free parking and the staff while super friendly they were pretty slow at everything. For needing a hotel on a short notice it fulfilled everything I needed.

I had high expectations of this hotel and this is the first time I am staying at a Sheraton property. But I was hugely let down. I paid $170 per night, but I think all I paid for was just a room with a bed/washroom and the location. Internet was a whopping $14.95 a day (additional cost), parking was $38 a day (with taxes), breakfast was $22. Seriously why should I bepaying such a high price for? Being in downtown Philadelphia, and internet being such a necessity which even libraries provide for free, a fancy hotel that charges so much cannot provide ? Unacceptable. Especially for someone like me coming from Canada and the phone is on roaming, I desperately need internet to figure things out in the city. Comfort Inns and Holiday Inn Expresses which I also stayed during my week long trip, charges much less but provides much much more! Absolutely no value for money. Even the television was a paid only service. Seriously guys in this age with competition from the likes of Airbnb this is an absolutely ripoff.
The site misinforms you about free breakfast and the room had cold water only way it would get hot if I turned on the sink and tub at the same time and no microwave and carpets need to be cleaned
Let me start off by saying I have never stayed at a Marriott family hotel that was this dirty.
If I could've given it negative stars I would've. The vent is located in the bathroom. If I had to guess I would say this hasn't been cleaned in over 2yrs. Paint chipping on the walls and behind the door. The sprinkler was COVERED in dust bunnies as you can see... and located in the bedroom.
The front lobby is beautiful, very open, airy, lots of windows and space. The room was subpar, even if you ignored the dust bunnies. We called the front asking for an extra blanket, it never came. The phone connection was spotty so we also asked them to replace it, they never did.
4:15am that "night" the fire alarm went off and the voice on the speaker told us all to stay in our rooms. We tried calling the front desk for information (using the spotty phone) and where told to stay, they couldn't confirm if it was a fire.
The alarm went off for a hour, no explanation, no fire trucks, no police showed up. The alarm stopped finally and the speaker told us to resume our nights.
The next morning, while checking out, we asked the front desk what happened...literally useless. She said she had no idea but maybe she should've said "not at liberty to discuss" and we would've asked for someone who could discuss it.
Idk the whole thing was too much for 24hrs. I will NEVER stay there again.
I was only there to catch a taxi, which turned out to be one of the worst and most frightening rides of my life. I went back later to complain to the bell captain who said he would look into it.
1:00 am Had to change rooms bed was dirty, and hall way and elevators reeked with pot smell, another guest was complaining at front fest of the same smell on floor 21 Stay away from here. No help from the front desk
Pros: Friendly staff. Nice grab and go breakfast for platinum members. My room upgrade request was honored after one day in a regular room, but I had to ask for it. Short walk to convention center and nearby restaurants.
Cons: rooms need major renovation. Fire alarm went off multiple times daily. My room preferences weren't met in the first room or the second. My keys got deactivated on a daily basis. Longer wait lines for front desk staff.
We go on a lot of trips to see our recently turned adult children and we finally found the hotel in Philly that we will use every time. That is saying a lot. We have stayed at every hotel in the downtown area except for one or two but our search is over.
The Sheraton Hotel has very uncomfortable beds, no microwave or fridge...which is very disappointing for an expensive hotel. No free breakfast. They also charge you $40 a night for parking. I cannot believe that you would have to pay for parking when you are paying for a room. I will not stay there again.
Place is in general good, very clean, super comfortable beds and A/C, great location and huge lobby with nice atmosphere. however little things may improve. You can not get a cart and use it yourself, they have to send someone that helps you carrying your belongings even I had very little. In general the hotel needs a lift up or upgrade to have a more modern look adding contemporary carpets, USB ports, wall papers, lighting and furniture. Have flat screen tv but not HD channels, many blurry ones, no extensive tv guide, very few channels and no Netflix connection. Room has no fridge but with a $20 upgrade you get a mini mini fridge. Rooftop is only if an event is hosted there. Was not open when I went. The breakfast was great with omelette made to order, but servers were distant and dismissive.
The staff was friendly and helpful as I needed to change rooms at 1am due to noise in the room. Unfortunately the carpet in both rooms looked dirty and to be about 40yrs. old. Otherwise the location was convenient.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the room itself was in very poor working condition: carpets stained, socket plugs unflush, furniture rocky, and paint peeling. The experience was quite unpleasant. The only thing the downtown Sheraton had going for it was the comfy beds, awesome staff, and beautiful lobby.
Called prior to my arrival to inform them I would be at the hotel late, and to hold my room. When I arrived, I was informed that there were no more king rooms, and I would have to take a double room. Aside from an apology, no offer of regret (hotel points, refund, etc.) was made. I was told I could change to a king room the next day, but that would entail rearranging my schedule, so that was a no. Got to the room and it was adequate, clean enough, but with some things overlooked. There were no hand towels, washcloths, and only some of the amenities (no shampoo, etc), not even the 'do-not-disturb' tag. After a long trip, disappointing to have to deal with this. The staff were polite, but obviously limited in training in how they can address customer issues. I think part of the problem is the hotel is undergoing renovation, and the staff and company are distracted by that work. Hopefully, things will improve once that renovation is completed.
12/6/19: UPDATE: I received an email from the events manager at Philadelphia 201 Hotel who was very apologetic and sympathetic about our hot water issue. I want to revise my review to say I understand problems can arise and I would give this hotel another chance. It was really beautiful and convenient and we loved the view.
No hot water! No hot water at 12 midnight, and no hot water early the next morning at 4:30 am. We were there for the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade, and none of the rooms had hot water. Didn't matter what time it was, there was none. Very frustrating
Will give a zero star if I could. Really really a bad hotel. Poor website layout, no obvious sign for checking-in restriction, rude staff. Refused my check-in request, promised to give a fee waver, but told credit card company the opposite. Very disappoint experience with this awful hotel.
Would give it 0 stars if I could. The people at the check in desk were LESS than helpful. We requested an early check in for a wedding at 4 pm with blocked rooms weeks ago. We called again last night, and were more or less guaranteed there would be a room ready when we got here because the hotel was NOT sold out. We arrived around noon, there were no rooms. Perfectly fine, check out is at noon, totally understandable. We sat at the bar and had lunch. 2 hours later, pretty close to 3 pm WHICH IS CHECK IN TIME, I went to ask for an update. I was again told there was no room ready, after I watched 6 people in front of me check in and get rooms. I proceeded to ask if there was a guarantee that the room would be ready by 3 pm since that is the check in time, and was told that they can t even guarantee that. Thankful I don t come to Philadelphia much, and will NEVER stay here again. And will highly recommend that NOBODY else does either.
Hotel itself is fine in terms of decor and physical layout. Pretty basic and the location and proximity to sites in Center City is good. The service left a little to be desired however. it took 40 mins to check in and just as long to get an elevator. It was cheap however compared to other downtown hotels.
Stained sheet and comforter, bath towels discolored and moldy bathrooms, room smell like smoke. Didnt sleep all night and checked out one day prior to preferred day. Awful !!!!
We booked thru Travelocity. Nowhere did it say that parking was Valet only and $50 a night. Thank God we found on street parking, that only had to be paid until 8 p.m. Sunday is free parking (if you can find it) The rooms and hotel are being renovated. Our room was spacious, however, not up to standards of SPG Group. The mattress and floor had stains on them. The decor and furniture was dated. The layout of room was off a bit. One of the end tables was plugged into the wall with the long cord stretched across the floor.(tripping hazard). The pillows smelled moldy and bed was not as fresh as it could be. There was a coffeemaker in the room (with Starbucks coffee) and One bottle of water . There should have been two bottles as we were a party of two I was disappointed in my stay and do not reccomend this Hotel .
I had a terrible stay here. The whole hotel is in need of a renovation which they are supposedly starting soon. The rooms on floors 22 and up are "better" as they have new carpet, curtains and some furniture. The renovated room we ended up in could be rated at 3 stars but it was the fifth room we were given. We rejected 4 rooms for reasons such as a strong smoke smell, blood on the bathroom floor, stained sheets and comforters, etc. The whole hotel is dated which I could deal with but dirty is unacceptable. I wish I had the presence of mind to take photos. The area where the ice machine was located looked like it had not been cleaned/swept in weeks. Please don't stay here or at least insist on the higher floors. The location is great. That's the only positive I can share.
Food was nothing to write home about this was a veggie burger handmade and it was good with the marinated onions but we had gotten the steak and it was terrible. Especially for the price that you pay! I had no idea that there were no microwaves are refrigerators in the room and there s no room service until after 5 AM. I will say the rooms were very clean the shower was a little weird and dated. They didn t even have tissues in the bathroom.
Good service even though it was busy, the valet parking attendant was the reason they didn't get 5 stars, I was just checking in not staying coming back later and was harassed by the attendant and had to give him my car keys to check in and when I finished he was not at the station to give me my keys, I saw them just laying on the podium and took them and left, anyone could have taken my vehicle while I was checking in. Front desk was great.
Cons: A bit outdated interior in rooms, comforters are a bit lower quality than expected for Sheraton, we only had 2 towels in our room when we got there, no plastic cups,no fridge, no coffee maker.
The location is good and very close to the main sights of the city. The room has a very strong air conditioning, which sells a lot and the bed has a very soft spring mattress, nothing comfortable.
No Wifi in your Room? Only if you pay? What year it is? It's very dishonest to lower the room rate and then get it with things that should be a standard in this century. Additional we got no information that you can only sleep until 8am because there are constructions work and the whole building is shaking.
It was freezing in Philly and we had the heat in our room up to 80 degrees. Sometimes the room would be warm and sometimes they wouldn t, but the hotel is under renovations
This hotel is very nice and is a great location. However, both the cafe and the restaurant in the lobby are very overpriced. That being said, there are cheaper locations within walking distance, but it was still frustrating to pay $10 for a sandwich from a cafe
The Staff(Steve or Steven) and services were wonderful. Anything I needed they were able to accommodate. If I am ever back in the area, this will be the hotel I will stay at again for a conference.
Hotel was conveniently located downtown, not too far from the convention center where we were attending an event. Our room was clean and comfortable. Only complaint was that the water took much longer than expected to heat up in both the shower and sink.
Outdated, over priced, no room service for breakfast and some shady characters walking around. Cleaning staff can be loud and the rooms don't have a great sound barrier. Certain basic stations on the TV would not work. I would never stay here again.
Breakfast staff was very friendly, as was the maintenance guy, but overall our stay was below expectations. Our air-conditioning was broken (made lots of noise) and they haven't made an effort of repairing it in the 5 days we stayed, there was no warm water for showering, the reception staff was very unfriendly and didn't even listen to our complaints, and housekeeping was cleaning rooms untill 11pm (making lots of noise) and keeping us up while we were tired and jetlagged. I do not recommend anyone staying here!!!
Thin walls, blood stained bedsheets (see pic), very poor customer service. Was in town sept 2020 for a funeral and had to switch rooms at 1AM due to noisy neighbor having a very loud argument, even though we were made to sign their "no noise policy" stating quiet hours start at 10PM. Unprofessional staff provided little in the way of customer service. Stay elsewhere.
I stay at Sheraton and Marriott hotels all the time and this is by far the worst hotel/stay ive had with them. I needed a room to rest for a few hrs and booked the hotel at the last minute. For a room that was almost $200, I expected comfort and cleanliness but the room looked more like a cheap motel room. The bed was so low, it looked like it was on the floor! They only had ONE wash cloth and towel in the bathroom, and the looby of the hotel looked more like a club (with the lingering scent of Marijuana and tons of loud young adults coming in and out) instead of a sheraton. This is my first stay at this particular hotel but I stay at Sheraton hotels all the time. Because Im a frequent customer, I tried to contact the hotel manager regarding these issues, however did not receive a response. Needless to say, I would not recommend this hotel and I question my value as a customer..
