My husband and I were looking forward to staying a couple weekends ago to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first time in years that we planned something due to the fact that we work in the hospitality industry and have to work weekends. We arrived (with our dog) right at check in but were told our room wasn't ready. We understood and decided to walk around for a little and grabbed a coffee to keep us warm since it was about 40 degrees out. An hour later we went back and were told it still was not ready, blaming the fact that the marathon was this weekend. Confused but again very understanding we decided just to keep walking. We expressed our concerns that we would be running late for our dinner reservation (which required a non refundable reservation fee) but were told it shouldn't be too much longer and that we should be receiving a phone call shortly from them. After another hour of walking in the cold we called the hotel and were told to come back because they were ready for us. We get our luggage and head to check in just to find out that it actually ISNT ready. At this point it was after 6 and it started to rain so I hung out in the car with my dog while my husband waited inside. A little before 7 pm, we knew we werent going to make it to our reservation. Having no other options and concerned that our hotel room would never be ready we decided to call it and head back home. We asked for a refund and were told that it would take about a week due to the holiday. Weird, but we went with it because we are nice and always try to give the benefit of the doubt to everyone. Over a week went by and we hadnt heard from anybody after we reached out to them via email. No follow up call to apologize or even a call to explain what actually happened or where our refund was. We decided to try one last time before we just contacted our bank and fought the charge with them and we were able to get through to a manager that informed us that since we used a 3rd party to book the room we had to go through them and not the hotel. I wish we would have been informed that the day we were at the hotel and the hotel didn't provide a room for us. I also don't understand why a manager didn't step in that day to either (a) help get the room ready or (b) talk to us in person. I am just so confused by the whole process that we experienced. I am not convinced that it was a crazy busy weekend. This hotel is located in a busy area of a city and should be able to handle the pops and the large influx of people on a regular basis. Its unacceptable to blame an event down the street for not being prepared. Large events happen often in cities and you had plenty of time to staff accordingly. We drove round trip over 3 hours just to get pushed around (most likely because we were being so understanding). We asked to be reimbursed for our parking fee and our dinner reservation fee that we lost but have been told 2 different responses. In the end we had a terrible experience that resulted with a disappointing drive back home. I would not recommend this hotel.

Bathroom and carpet were dirty. Carpet was bunched up in places as if whoever put it down just couldn't be bothered to do it right. Lights in the bathroom flickered and frequently went out. And this is all just one night.

The hotel is very nice near the Franklin Parkway, to metro and downtown are still 15 minutes. The building has the best of times and is unkempt. The shower in the bath was unworthy of a hotel of this class. Too loud are the air conditioning in the room and the ventilation in the pool area. This is also recommended because of only limited.

I stayed at the Sheraton Downtown Philly for a conference. While the staff were very friendly and accommodating I found the room to be less than perfect. There were holes in the sheets, the bathroom wasn't properly cleaned, I found a used disposable razor on a counter and the carpet was coming up.

The room is ok, the lobby is the nicest part. The bathroom was a little grimy, with water stains on the ceiling and for the price, they didn't even provide a toothbrush. The bed seemed clean and comfy though.

It's ok.

It's ok.
The renovations that are currently taking place is a welcome site.
Currently the rooms are very basic and has an out dated ambience overall.
I would say come back after the renovations.
My floor had no working ice machine and neither did 5 floors above & beneath it after i walked them all!!
You would think the front desk would let you know what floor has working ice machines when you check in.
Didn't have the best experience overall even with the dining.
Front desk staff was very friendly.

This hotel was a Sheraton until last week, when it lost its accreditation and became the Philadelphia 201. It is like the ghost of a good hotel. The staff are really lovely but the facility is crumbling to the ground with broken elevators, cracked paint, ancient filthy carpets etc. I paid $92/night on HotelTonight and it was worth that, but I wouldn't stay here again.

This hotel leaves a lot to be desired. The lobby and conference areas are just fine, the rooms, however are another story. The carpet is.coming up off the floor. There is furniture randomly placed in the room. There are holes in the wall. There is mold in the shower. The bathroom light fixture had thick.layers of dust on it. Overall, this place needs to renovate the rooms asap and ensure that the cleaning staff keeps them today for guests.

No microwave ( when i asked for it suggested me to use the communal one at the lobby)
No fridge in room. When i requested one one male receptionist told me all were gone, but i dialed 0 ( customer experience, no reception) and i said that i had diary... what can i do?... 10 minutes later a small fridge was in my room. I was furious!!! i dont know if that receptionist deserves to be fired or he followed instructions when somebody asks for fridges!
Even if i was not happy i have to say that the location is very good, and the free bottle of water was good at check in after a long ride.

Hotel staff were friendly. However, the pool wasn't in service and there was no hot water in our room for the length of our stay. The reception desk seemed irritated when we complained and the issue was not resolved. We were offered no consolation for being unable to shower. The location is the highlight of this hotel.

Having to pay for wifi still in such a large hotel beggars belief. Even though I stayed in a suite. Rather a large crack in the lobby check in area. Dated interior and a Starbucks that isn't really a Starbucks.

We asked for a room with 2 queens and a couch bed which we didn't get. When we went to the front desk they tried to give us a roll away bed, then put us in one of the "pet friendly" rooms. Also, there is no Wi-Fi access in the rooms.

Basically a dumpy, old Sheraton that should be imploded. Have stayed there 4-5 times over the past few years and each year it gets worse. They recently changed their name to "Philadelphia 201" to probably fool people into thinking its a new hotel. Check-in is inefficient, elevators always broken, rooms old and tired. Elite free breakfast is to go to bar area and grab pre-wrapped items that you sign for and hope is taken off your bill. Their phone number listed on Marriott site is a FAX machine so good luck contacting them if you need a copy of your bill.

Even the reviews on Marriott site only give them a 3 out of 5 rating. Only reason I stay there is my company's office is 2 blocks away but I think I may reconsider after this last stay.

Wow this is my first time to Philadelphia and we got so lucky on choosing this hotel I thought it was beautiful with a lot of amenities. Thanks Sheraton Philadelphia for making my 30th birthday super!

They were fully booked and our room wasn't ready until 4:45pm (and I requested early check in). Room was standard, what you would expect of a Sheraton. Breakfast staff was great - super friendly and went out of their way to get us items. Location is very convenient to the museums. Pool was very warm, more like a hot tub.

Philadelphia 201 is a conveniently located hotel with nice views of downtown Philadelphia. My wife and I spent one night there recently. When entering the hotel, we were impressed with the beautiful lobby and friendly hotel staff. My wife also enjoyed a nice continental breakfast at the bar area the following morning.

Final addendum (I hope):

Final addendum (I hope):
I was checking TripAdvisor so I can leave a review there and saw the same complaints I have below running back at least a year. I read a review from July 2018 that had the hotel in the same bad condition. If there are updated rooms, I did not see them.

My review:
Philadelphia 201 Hotel perhaps has seen better days. When those were I don t know.
It is run down in places. Plumbing is an issue. Pool was closed and very few floors out of 24(?) had working ice machines and those could not keep up with demand. This is in the middle of summer.
The AC units are LOUD! Keeping the fan on constantly did not dull the sound of the cooler kicking in. I asked other people that are part of our convention at hotel whether their AC units were loud and they said yes.
Why is there no hotel information book in the room, and no video account and check out?
This morning (our fourth day at hotel) the water temperature in the shower is just not hot enough with temp adjustment cranked to high. [Apparently engineering is changing out pipes somewhere.]
One bright spot is our housekeeper, Jeanette. She is great! And of course the hotel location is amazing!
Day number 5 and still have problems with lukewarm water in shower and sink. I complained both times and the
engineer came to show me how the shower control works. Turns out that I needed to turn on the hot water in both the shower and the sink to get either to flow hot. Oh boy.
Please, if you want be more green could we have more places to hang wet towels?
More complains: convention area. Broken escalator. AC units not working adequately in some event rooms. Few water stations Which were not adequately restocked for hundreds of people attending physically demanding events.

Apparently the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, but I would say don't book this hotel for your event until it is renovated unless you get a deep discount. It is never fun being in a hotel in transition . Bonvoy, Sheraton, Marriott, who ever you are, take note.

Did not like the form letter like response I received here. I am still enduring a stay at your hotel RIGHT NOW! Back to one star. Would be zero if I could choose zero. Gladly leaving on 7/8/2019 after a 7 day stay. Had to stay at this hotel because that was where my convention was held.

When booking this hotel we were expecting Sheraton quality. This hotel doesn t deserve to even hold that name. As an SPG member and frequent traveler, we could not have been more disappointed. We arrived at 3:45pm (check in was at 3:00pm) and was told the room was not ready. After being told our room would be ready in about 30 min we waited an hour and a half with no word. Going back to the desk to check on the status, we were informed that they had oversold their king rooms. They offered a renovated queen with club lounge access. No sooner did we walk into an unrenovated substandard unacceptable room, we returned to the desk refusing to stay in that room. 6 hours after arriving to the hotel, we were finally in our tired rundown king room. If not for Brandon at the front desk and Stell at the Local, our stay would have been a complete failure. All other staff was rude impatient and condescending. We will never be staying at this hotel again.

I was at a conference. Very accommodating staff. My only reservation was not having our conference room bathroom cleaned before we got there. Someone came and took care of it though. Other bathrooms were very good.

Had a very disappointing experience with this hotel last night from customer service to the room I was placed in. My boyfriend is a United States Marine and has been stationed overseas with no chance to come home for the past two years so when we found out he was able to come visit I hurried to book us a room in the city so we could have a romantic night together and unfortunately that's the exact opposite of what we got. We checked in late but called to let them know what time we would arrive. When we got there we were informed by a woman named Michelle that they had given our king size room away because there was some kind of business event going on and that we would now be placed in a room with two full size beds. I was visibly upset by this to which she responded, after many eyerolls that she would give us a discount of around $30, we couldn't get a refund and book somewhere else per her words so basically we were stuck with the leftovers. She threw our key card at us and walked away. When we got to the room it was filthy, broken fixtures, and uncomfortable small beds.... I haven't seen my boyfriend in a long time and we had to sleep in separate beds on our special night out. No one tried to help in the morning either when I again, calmly voiced my disappointment. Don't give this hotel any of your money, especially if your significant other fights for our country's freedom because they'll throw you in a leftover garbage room. Thanks 201 and Michelle at the front desk, never again!

My WORST hotel experience ever. The floors, mattresses and curtains are all stained and dirty. There is no shampoo or conditioner in the shower. WiFi is not free, you have to pay $13 a day for it. On top of that, we had a fire alarm at midnight where we had to evacuate the hotel for several hours, the staff were not talking to us at all and admitted "We don't know what's going on either." The next day, power was off at 6am, so the phones, lights, wifi, all didn't work. Only one elevator was functioning so it took 45 mins to get to the lobby and leave this awful hotel. Do NOT stay here, even a motel 6 or super 8 would be better than this.

We checked in and despite being a couple, had room with 2 full beds instead of a king or queen; staff accommodating and moved us, but to a handicap accessible room that was surprisingly sparse and outdated; they were again accommodating and moved us to a comfy room with a queen bed. Location is so-so, not much around it but 10 min walk from city hall so not too remote. Rooms are adequate, beds comfy, but otherwise nothing remarkable.
Average hotel, perfectively serviceable.

I want to first start by saying that I read all of the reviews after I had already booked this hotel through Priceline. I was horrified by these reviews and almost decided to eat the money I paid on Priceline in order to stay somewhere else. However, I paid around $120 with tax included so I did not want to do that. I checked into the hotel on November 10th and it was completely booked out that night. Most people were complaining about huge lines at the front desk. When I got there around 7pm to check in there was no wait at all. The woman helping me check in told me that there weren't any rooms available. I found this odd considering I had a reservation. Finally another woman came over and said they found a room for us on the 18th floor. I was really happy about this because the higher up floors are much nicer than the lower levels. Our room was perfectly clean and the beds were comfortable. I did notice visible wear and tear of the carpet and walls. The floor I was on was very quiet and our room was next to ice machine. This wasnt a problem considering that hardly any one was on the floor using it. I also used the valet service for $50. Everything went very smoothly with this. I would not pay full price to stay here but I did get a serious discount using the Priceline express deal. Obviously the hotel is in need of a refresher but its certainly not awful! I slept comfortably and felt safe during my stay.

It was okay. Not what I expected in center city. No refrigerator in the room cant check out from the room. No sitting chair and no table to sit and eat. No room service that I was aware of. However on the positive side great location to a lot of attractions. Clean and comfortable beds.. I only staid one night. Would stay here again.

Every time I travel to Philly I always stay here. But this time will be my last. As soon I went to check in the clerk wasn't helpful or nice. I saw others being treated better then I was. There was no hot water and no parking. I always liked this hotel but not coming back.

No free WiFi, no free refrigerators in the room, no free microwave in the room, no free parking. Room needs updating. Bed is nice and view is good. Not worth the price. Find a better hotel!

They did the same thing to me. Promised breakfast, but refused it the next morning. But that was just the start. The front lobby is nice and some floors have renovated halls, but the rooms smelled of smoke and bad air freshener. My first room was really dirty. I called from the dirty room and was told to meet bellhop at new room(which was clean, but also stunk of cigarettes). They left me standing at new room with bags for 25 minutes-no bellhop. Front desk folks were very poor at damage control. The staff were nice but poorly trained. They exhibited minimal accountability or ownership for the failings. I am shocked that Starwood is affiliated with this place. Stay at Holiday inn next time for a budget hotel, and stay anywhere else for a higher-end experience. Also, the pool is gross (rust on the walls, cracked dirty floors, looks like a 1970s YMCA mini pool).

I have stayed in much nicer rooms at other hotels ...

I have stayed in much nicer rooms at other hotels for a fraction of the price. The wall plugs were askew, the plumbing wasn t working, linens were stained, the carpet was bunched up on the floor in places. the room itself smelled like vinegar. Above my room was a horrible, persistent screeching/grinding noise, like someone was dragging something heavy across gravel and steel. As If I wasn t feeling weary from travel, I certainly was feeling deeply unsettled after hearing that for 2 hours in the afternoon. I m glad I was here for a conference, and my place of employment paid for the hotel. Pluses though: comfortable beds, friendly service. Marriott: get your act together!

Nice hotel.

Nice hotel.
Rooms have a "vintage" look.
In our first room have been smoked.. but room change was no Problem.

Great view over Philly!
