The staff here is really nice and do their best to accommodate you.

However the runs, especially those on the top of the mountain are very very narrow. As a novice snowboarder it was very difficult to feel confident since I had no room to maneuver. The narrow runs are flanked by steep drop offs into trees with few fences. I saw many people being aided off the mountain by ski patrol. Including two severe injuries that required an ambulance. I have been to many different resorts (whitetail, wisp, Bristol mountain, alpine valley,etc...) this was the first resort that I felt this scared of either running into others or them running into me.

Overall an okay place, but I would suggest going on a day that few people are there otherwise you may have several run ins with other skiers/boarders.

Good place for people that are learning how to ski or snowboard. Small kids really liked the tubing. Not very crowded when we went. Prices were decent.

The very basic runs were a little to basic to really learn on in my opinion. One of the longer greens actually had an area that seemed to have a rather annoying uphill climb.

Last thing is that you need to be sure if you will be snowboarding or skiing as there is a fee to change out, even if you do it first thing. Planned to snowboard with my kid, found out I was too out of shape to bend over set the bindings. Went back inside to switch to skis and had to pay the fee.

Great time! We snowtubed and it was very fun! The lifts were very convenient and allowed for more trips down the hill. We also rented bibs GREAT IDEA. Kept us very warm! Have lockers to put stuff while you're out playing. Staff friendly! Highly recommend this place! Go have fun. Next trip we are skiing . We did not eat

The experience is five stars! The operations is three stars-- they seemed unorganized. The majority of the staff were five stars-- friendly and helpful. We took skiing lessons and later in the day did the tubing. Both were great! Definitely recommend visiting. The memories will last a lifetime.

Great facility for groups. Lodging was brand new and very clean. Could use a nice lounge area for those that may not ski to hang out and watch tv. Slopes were great and workers seemed happy to work there.

Our family had an awesome time here. It's our second time skiing. The people working there were so nice and their service is wonderful.
I found out I lost my driver license but don't know where. They mailed my driver license back to me yesterday. Thank them so much.
It will be our ski place when we go in the future.

They had one area to tube from.. We were under the impression they had 7.. We went out and looked and came straight back in and they refused to give our money back even tho we didn't stay.. Never again for 42 dollars a person..

Wouldn't recommend for advanced skiers or as a destination stop. Its definitely a townie ran "resort".

Stopped here on an impulse traveling from Snowshoe, WV to Florida. We looked up the ski conditions before we pulled off the highway and it said they had 6 inches of fresh powder. As soon as we hit the slopes, it was nothing but ICE. And it's the dangerous kind where your skiing on ice and then BAM! Powder! Lots of accidents while we were there and they don't take the time to groom between day and night skiing. It all runs together. To make it worse, the runs are poorly lit. NOTHING like Snowshoe or any resort we have ever been to east or west coast. It's the perfect recipe for a disaster.

The other issue. It's all kids. ALL KIDS. It's a townie spot which is cool, but the teenagers working and visiting are rude and ignorant. That's their lodge, their runs and their tube park. And boy do they let you know it. Won't be visiting again.

Havent been in a few years ,but the last time I went had a blast the snowtubbing was super dope!! Want to take my kids think they would love it , Also would like to learn to Snowboard!!! Wish they had an Ice-Skating Rink that would be a kool little touch. Nowhere in this area has Ice-Skating & I miss Ice-Skating back home in MD!!!

I'm from Utah, "the greatest snow on earth" or so they say. I was pleasantly surprised by the runs here. Difficulty is very well mapped out, I'm a very experienced skier/Snowboarder, and I avoided the Black Diamond runs. Very intense. Even the Blue Square runs were on point for skill level. I would recommend it, the lift tickets are a little steep not unlike their hills. But, I will say that the ice on the runs towards the end of the daylight hours was a bit too much for me. Ice coupled with runs that are very well matched to skill level made it a tough ski. I will go back, very fun.

The restaurant isn't great, but it's not bad either. I would suggest doing a multi day pass. Definitely worth it. Get a group and get a cabin rental! Very cool.

Cheers!

3/3/2017 - So glad we were finally able to make it out here this year. We have been waiting for cold weather and fresh snow and thankfully yesterday offered both. The staff is always very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Hopefully winter is a bit longer next year and we can come a few more times. See you in December!

1/9/2018 - Another great day and great experience here. Can't wait to come back!

Cheaper option for winter sports activities, and very convenient to Southern WV. The rental equipment isn't the best. I'd recommend renting from one of the nearby ski stores if you're not doing a package deal.

Great place. Short trails and great for beginners. If you are novice I would say head to Snow Shoe. There are about 3-4 good runs on the mountain. Everyone is super nice. Not very good food and the bar is slow.

The websight offers craft beers and bratwurst at mickeys lounge. It was closed on a Saturday during peak season. We drove 3.5 hrs to take the kids skiing. Some of us could not ski so we were going to hang out in the lounge. We were left with the cheesy snowdrift lounge bar. We had 2 customers in front of us and waited 25 minutes for 2 draft beers. The bartender was completely inefficient and was overwhelmed with only 2-3 customers and the lines only grew throughout the day. Very dissapointed in this resort. The food court was extremely dissapointing and overpriced. You would think with weather conditions failing that management would be doing everything possible to keep customers happy and return business a possibility.

We had a great time a the resort. Lines were not too bad for lifts. There were a good amount off trails considering location.
We had our own stuff but some friends had to rent their equipment. The stuff the rented was beat and it wasn t a busy weekend. If have you own stuff you are good to go.
Employees were nice and would recommend the resort.

Purchased tickets online, completed the waiver on line. Arrived at the lodge to get our passes and took over 1 hour in line then another 1 hour waiting in line to get to the top of the only half working "carpet lift" to ride the first tube of the day. Hearing the staff yell repeatedly that " if you walk or bounce on the lift and it breaks you"ll be walking up the hill" was a little infuriating considering the shape of the grounds and the fact that the other lift appeared to have not been working for some time. We were also informed loudly that "the belt is slipping" at which point it stopped. Then the people were told to stay in place as she restarted it, at which point people almost fell. Not too delighted with this trip. I am usually the person that makes the best of everything- but really had little to work with on this snow tubing event. Sorry Winterplace but you really need some basic upkeep if you want to keep people coming back. As for our family and friends, we will not be back.

Our kids had an awesome time snow tubing here! It is a little confusing knowing where to go to pay, get passes, etc but once that is done you are set for the day. You can feel safe with your teens tubing here without parents or parents can wait inside or out (at the bottom of the tubing area).

This is a fine local ski resort, but not ideal for beginners in my opinion. I am an experience skiier, and I took my 5-year-old daughter there to learn. She had been skiing once before and loved it. But for an early "turner", the trails were way too narrow. The resort sorely lacks a wide gently sloped trail. They have gentle slopes with narrow trails, and wide steep ones, but nothing in the sweet spot. Also, we tried the "first timers" lesson, but the first thirty minutes was like doing the chicken dance with one ski on. My daughter was not impressed, and lost patience with it. Admittedly, she was already tired from skiing the first half of the day. We ended up skipping out of the second half of the lesson.

it's close to roanoke. the trails are wide and easy to learn on. not as cold or icy as snowshoe. the rental lines are faster than showshoe by an hour at least. my kids and I love it. the lifts are slow though.

This place is the most amazing skiing place in the world it has friendly people and the best slopes. If u are a beginner stay on greens it is the easiest slopes .if u are advanced go to the blues and blacks that is what I do. It is so fun.

Really enjoyed my first skiing experience ever! Fair rates for great joy in the diverse tracks. For beginers, I strongly recommend their $20 add-on lessons. The teachers are really good at making you progress, and you are paying to get more than you expect. I went with two of my friends, and we took two lessons from level zero. By the end of the day all of us were able to challenge the cascade blue line (moderate level), no kidding!

Impressive resort, specifically speaking to the on-mountain ski patrol/first responders. In dealing with an injury, I was treated with upmost respect, care, and concern. The staff was highly knowledge and professional in protocol and care. They turned a most unfortunate incident into a manageable one.

We loved it! Great place to go for beginners. We went December 21st - 23rd. The 21st which was Friday it was rainy so the only snow was on the trails. We snowboarded that day (first time) and it was fun learning other than landing on our butt so much. However, later that night the weather dumped a ton of snow! So the 22nd which was Saturday the snow was so fluffy which is when we skied. Last on the 23rd we went tubing which was TONS of fun!!

I love this place. I've been going here for years and it is so much fun. It really is the best place to learn how to ski and snowboard. They are really good at keeping up the slopes despite the fact that the weather doesn't always allow for it. They have amazing training sessions and great areas to rest during long days of skiing. The lift personnel are really nice as well and are quick to make sure no one gets hurt

This is a great place to learn to ski. During the cold winter weekdays, there are a lot less people and lower prices. The center of the action and top of both lifts is just at 3,600 feet. See the picture with the old fire tower and communication antennas. From this location you have three options. With 27 slopes and 10 lifts you bound to find a suitable trail. The have 100% snow making capacity, so it it's cold they'll be blowing. Also not during the week double rooms at Skyline Lodge is starts at $80 a night.

Nice ski resort. Went here with the Boy Scouts and they provided a good class for beginners. The boys that finished the class were skiing pretty well as the day went along. There's also tubing for those that don't want to ski.

Spring skiing was amazing yesterday We were really impressed with the resort, especially ski school. Daniel did a great job with our kids. The progression we saw from morning to afternoon was very impressive. Thanks to the staff for taking good care of our kiddos and passing along your knowledge.

I had a blast, truthfully I had quite a few wipe outs in my 6 hours (it was my first time ever, and all but 2 were my fault people don t respect rule 2 here at all which is those further down have right of way, 2 people came right next to me without any warning at all, every time I passed people I would yell passing on the ... ) I never hit too hard for me, a few kind people checked on me every once and a while.
Some of the things I didn t like the resort has no real control over. Like the snow was icy and such
What I hated, and would give a 1 star, is I asked 4 employees where the bunny slope was, and they all told me, and 2 others told my father the easiest slope was the slope highland run which isn t the easiest slope, especially If you ve never done it before, also we were not given a map until 2 of the 4 people I was with gave up or hurt themselves going down HR, which again, isn t an easy first slope, it s kinda steep and so many people had the same wrong idea as we did, while there is an actual bunny slope (almost heaven and those) we didn t discover them until 4 hours in or more.

It's a really greatplace, but I hurt my arm and no one seemed to ask questions or anything. It's a very self drivin place. You have to take care of yourself out on the slopes. Other than that, I think it would be convenient to have water fountains as well as a water fill up station. I dont think anyone wants to have to travel all the way down the mountain just to get some water. On the flip side, the view was spectacular and I had a blast on the slopes. You can rent everything you need from the place and its neat to meet people from all around the nation and the world. Overall it's a wonderful place to ski and have new experiences!!

Dad: Day 1, 3 wet snow - day 2, cold rain. Even with the difficult weather, the skiing was good (thanks to a good base). I ve skied mostly in the east, and this is the among the best I ve been to. The staff was excellent, the food was good. Our 3 girls went to ski-wee, an all day school and fun facility, and LOVED it.
Mom: the equipment rental staff was very nice, helping me through a paperwork problem without fussing.
Big sister: a little progress the first day, and a lot on the second! My teacher was kind and showed me lots of good tips.
Twin 1: I really liked the snow because I could make a snowball and throw it at my teacher - and they didn t get mad!
Twin 2: on the first day, I was a little scared, but on the 2nd day I persevered and was AWESOME thanks to my teachers!
