I see a lot of people complaining about her up-front costs to build a portfolio so the agency can then send your picture out to clients. I hate to break it to you, but this is how good modeling agencies work these days. Wilhelmina has high standards, and not everyone fits those standards, so it is only natural that many hopeful models don t get the callbacks they were hoping for. Getting good photos taken by a professional is only the first step when you re represented by an agency like Wilhelmina Denver the rest is up to you and the clients who might hire you for modeling gigs.

Wilhelmina Denver books a lot of modeling gigs for a lot of talent in the Denver area. Clients seem to trust the agency s work, and so do a lot of models. I ve had pretty good experiences with them. They can come off as rude sometimes, but it has to be hard to answer the same questions all day, every day. They do work hard to get model portfolios into the hands of clients who are ready to pay, so I can t complain. It s been a good experience so far!

A scam and a sham. We thought we did our homework, and my daughter signed with Wilhelmina Denver because the LA and NY offices are legitimate. We were completely wrong. The Denver franchise signed everyone they could in order to keep their doors open, and charged a lot for photos and comp cards - but zero jobs. Don't waste your time or money like we did!!

I shoot consistently in Colorado and have, over many years, worked with all the agencies in town. Wilhelmina Denver and the team are hands down the most professional, nicest and easiest to book talent from.

This is a complete scam. They told me they could get me a gig right after I pay to get everything I needed.

The past year I've been signed to them , I've gotten more professional paid work then I've ever gotten in my modeling career. Wilhelmina welcomed me in, and ever since it's felt like family. any question or concerns I may ever have each agent is always there to answer and support any of them. I love Wilhelmina Denver and I'm beyond blessed to have came across such a mother agent.

It's a scam. My photos have been on the site for over 5 years and I never got a single gig. They charge you to "start your portfollio". You even have to buy the clothes they tell you to for the 1 shoot you do.

Colorado is a small market with a lot of agencies, surprisingly. If you are looking for an agency that operates the way agencies do in LA/NY, Wilhelmina Denver is the only one! They focus on actual development and prepare models for what it is actually like in the industry. The team is kind and tough when needed in order to prepare you for bigger things. Just don't do it. This agency unfortunately has a very bad reputation around town. I did not realize this until after signing with them. They do get you some work however they will overcharge you on pictures for your portfolio just to make their photographers money with absolutely no regard to the models. The agent Ashley is the one to also be weary of. Just be very aware of this agency and ask around before signing with them. This should not be deleted by google as most of the honest reviews for this agency are.

Absolutely amazing and professional agency in Colorado..!!

It's a total waste, trust me! They don't know how to do their jobs and they will take your money and never call. It's a scam! They take the pictures of kids and sell them online too. Its disgusting, do not trust them.

Wish we would of been warned about this horrible modeling agency before our daughters got contracts. We lost $900 hundred dollars and never got anything in return only rude and obnoxious customer service from their staff especially from Katie Van Horne.
They demanded money from the start and only wanted more. We should of known better....
Please stay away. Go to a REAL modeling agency that does not ask for money up front and treats you with respect.

We have just signed with Wilhelmina, but so far Ashley has been great. I find it odd that people are so upset about the up front cost and such. Have you never heard the term "it takes money to make money?"

Wilhelmina is an agent, not a pay-all. You are still going to be your own brand, and you have to pay to be able to market yourself. I was never under the illusion that this was going to be free, but with the right attitude I believe Wilhelmina will help my daughter go in the right direction.

Wilhelmina Denver is one of the most upscale and talented agencies I have had the pleasure of working with, but here s the thing: every would-be model thinks they should be instantly famous, or at least get a ton of work in the first week. The staff at the agency are pretty clear in telling new talent that it is up to the clients, not the agency, in getting work. In other words, the agency can only do so much. But still I hear people complaining. I guess they just don t understand the business and how tough it can be to work at a modeling agency.

I moved to Denver a year ago from Omaha to pursue my career in modeling. Since the day I joined the agency, I have been treated so well and have only ever been asked to purchase the items that are required by clients in the market (comp cards/portfolio). The team provided me with resources to decide who to hire for my test shoot as well. The team has always been supportive and respectful. I am thankful I chose to sign with Wilhelmina Denver.

Since the Spring of 2014 I have been a represented makeup artist with Wilhelmina Denver. My experience has always been very positive; I have had friendly and professional interactions with the owner and her stellar team, as well as with fellow represented (and incredibly talented) photographers, stylists and models, and all on a frequent basis. The work that has come my way due to this agency include shoots for Belk, American Airlines, Audi USA and Pearle Vision. Many doors have opened thanks to this representation and I m very grateful.

After reading the negative reviews I want to say 2 things:
-Don't be sad they didn't sign you. Move on! There is a specific look they look for.
-This agency is affiliated with LA and NYC AMONG OTHER WILHELMINA MODELING AGENCY'S - LOOK IT UP. Denver is a small market so don't expect big bucks. PERIOD!
-One more thing Ashley, brook and any other Wilhelmina employee are some of the best, most honest and most timely people. You negative people are sad because there blunt and they have high expectations for there models.

A friend of mine signed with the agency a year ago and had similar issues with the previous poster as to the agency having favorites. The owner is so rude and you don t know if she is having a good or a bad day, and scared my friend and other girls I met through her. There isn t any recourse in this place accept for finding another agency. She went so far as to telling girls to lose weight or she will dump you even if the girl is an inch over the requirement in hips and make up the rules as they go depending on who their favorite is of which they will push you for all the jobs. I told my friend to try other agencies as no one deserves to be treated that way. It s not even a real Wilhelmina (affiliate agency) so I hope the real one reads this and the other reviewers.

On a good note, I didn t see one unless you are an outsider such as someone investing in them for a job.

Not only did Wilhelmina Denver stand out as the best choice for my personal talent agency, they have quickly become the primary agency I book through when casting talent for the commercials I produce behind the camera, as well.

The Wilhelmina ladies are everything I need them to be, as both their talent and their client. They are professional, organized, hard working, reliable, fair, and experienced veterans in this industry. Lastly, it is disheartening to read some of the reviews listed on this page. I started in this industry at the age of 7 and remember what it was like being a child in this business. I attended many open casting calls, talent searches, etc.. that were dead-ends or scams run by unprofessional organizations that demanded money up front. I assure you Wilhelmina Denver is NOT one of these agencies. If this team recommends you update your portfolio to stand out, this isn't a scam - this is helping you increase your booking potential in a competitive market. If they are not confident in your portfolio, then I hate to say it... but after sifting through dozens of headshots of children with the same hair & eye color as your child's... your photos are probably not going to jump out to me or a Creative Director either. That said, nothing I have signed as their talent dictates that I must go through Wilhelmina for these materials, they are simply available at the talent (and parent's) convenience.

My kids are loving this! Everything from working with their first photographer to booking their first job with an amazing toy company. It's been a blast for all of us!

Some of these reviews are hilarious! Honestly, do people really think an agency in Colorado is going to completely develop you and advance costs like a NY agency can? Colorado has 20% of the work a major market does! The team at Willy is RAD and if you want to actually get work in this market, they work their tails off to make sure you do.

I'm super glad that I found Wilhelmina. I was on a pretty tight timeline for an ad I was shooting and I needed three actresses right away with unusually specific criteria. I worked with Cassie. She was able to provide some really great options and set up an audition within a couple days after I first contacted her.

The whole process was very new to me and Cassie made it all run very smooth. She was super nice and she is incredibly quick at responding to email. The whole process from start to finish was quick and easy, thanks to Cassie.

I will be using Wilhelmina in the future for sure.

I made a Google+ account just so I could write this review and save people their time. Let me start by saying they are not affiliated with the real Wilhelmina. They will try to charge you about 500 dollars to make a portfolio with one of their photographers who are anything but professional. I refused to pay this and used photos I had from previous work and while I was under contract with them for one year I got ZERO jobs. They send you castings for things you cannot even participate in ex (looking for toddler models this weekend) when I was 17 at the time. Overall, they are just a business looking to make money like every other business. Do not waste your time here no matter how good of a deal they make it out to be.

Best models in town! I highly recommend Wilhelmina Denver if you want to hire models that show up on time, understand what is expected of them and are a pleasure to work with!

Both my kids signed with Wilhelmina about 3 years ago. The expectations were very clearly set from the beginning, about costs and jobs for kids in CO. So we knew what we were getting into and had a choice to sign or not, I'm very happy we did. Yes you need to pay for a portfolio, I love going into castings and seeing Wilhelmina's kids holding their portfolio, they look so professional and reflects the same for the agency.

Both my kids are constantly busy with castings, we all understand this is very competitive and you need to be consistent and persistent. All these ladies are super busy, working for us. I know they care about the talent they represent, and also know this needs to be both ways, I make sure my kids' portfolios are up to date, my son takes acting clases, and I'm as diligent as I can responding to any of the agency's requests.

Signed both of my kiddos with Wilhelmina Denver three years. Only thing asked was to get photos (I chose their photographer, but that was NOT required) and purchased a book and comps for castings, which is industry standard and always the case in major markets. We go to castings and book jobs regularly!

Signed two months ago, did an amazing test and booked my first job soon after. So happy!

They have their favorites here-teen girls they think will bring them the most revenue so they only promote them to clients. If you are 20 or older don't bother, you wont be promoted to clients or get work. All opportunities are for girls who are in school still and more flexible with their time,aka teenagers; if you have a 9-5 job you miss out, since if they ever do send you an opportunity, its on a weekday in the middle of the day. Obviously the younger you are, the more potential you have for a longer career in modeling, but they really dont even pretend to care about getting opportunities to their over 20 models. If you're under 20 go for it, if not, don't waste your time and money.
