Staff was fantastic, administration not so much. We had a group of Boy Scouts go through the climbing Merit Badge program. That's what we signed up for, but when we arrived the guides had no idea we were doing that program, they thought we were there for some climbing and rappelling only. BIG SHOUTOUT to Jordan who busted his hump in spite of short staff and short notice to get 21 boys through the program. it was clearly only because of Jordan that our boys were not disappointed.
The next day we did White Water Rafting. By far the best WW trip I have ever taken and this is the second time on this same section (first time was with another outfitter). Staff was great and everyone had a fantastic time.
Unfortunately at checkout there was no record of our prepayment so I gave them my credit card. We probably paid twice at this point and in the end I'm sure that it will all get worked out. So, if there has to be an error you definitely want it on the admin side and not the guide side. I'd just have been happier with a smoother internal administration.
They were out of my size of the Paddle Faster T-Shirt too!! boo hoo.

This is our go to outfitter in Ohiopyle, my wife and I have rafted and learned to kayak with them. The owner Eric is an experienced whitewater kayaker and easy to talk to. We have made friends with a lot of the guides over the years and never had a bad experience with them.
I was looking for a wonderful white water experience for my 15 year old daughter and her 2 teenage cousins visiting from Germany. We chose Voyageurs and am glad we did. Our experience was great---very professionally operated, well organized and safety oriented. The guides were knowledgable and there was a good guide-to-client ratio providing this father/uncle at least, the sense of security for a awesome family, full-filled experience. The morning began by a well designed safety orientation. We rafted the lower Yough--enough Class II-III white water to give the girls a good, adenaline-filled experience as novice paddlers. We had our own raft, but the guides were vigilant, paddling nearby if assistance were needed. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend this outfitter without reservation. Very professional, friendly and accommodating.
Had a blast on the whitewater guided trip down the lower river. We had an awesome guide, if you get lucky, you will have our guide Tommy, ask for him if you can. He knows the river and makes it cool by surfing, trying the harder stuff, letting us swim, swim through rapids, etc!
Reserved two duckies and ended up not being able to go. They wouldn't refund any of it or give me a voucher or gift card or anything. I ended up paying the full price for two duckies I never used.
I went for a bachelorette party and we did the Guided Middle Yough. Crash was our main guide at the front and he did a wonderful job leading us through and giving us backround on the area as well as other activities to do nearby. The other two guides were also helpful and courteous.
I think all 9 of us want to go back after a great experience!
Aiden and Joe did a great job we will use them again. Worth the money for a four hour trip. And during covid they did a great job keeping us all safe making everyone on the shuttle wear masks and in the store
I was very disappointed with the customer service of Wilderness Voyageurs. I rented a raft which I had to cancel at the last minute due to an eye injury. At the time I didn't know if it was an infection (sign of potential COVID) or an injury, so I thought I would play it safe for eyeryone's sake and cancel. I realize their refund policy, but was hoping to speak to someone regarding a future credit since I now spend most weekends in the Ohiopyle area and I was not taking up space on a shuttle or guided trip (no lost revenue for WV). They have not returned my calls or responded to my request on their website. I would recommend starting with one of the other 3 rafting companies in Ohiopyle that are hopefully more customer oriented.
Fantastic experience rafting on the Middle Yough. Our guide -- Rachel -- was great fun, as was her sister Abby. Nice mix of easy rafting and some small (but fun) rapids. Definitely coming back!
On our way to ohiopyle when we find out we were charged for 2 spots but they only reserved 1 spot for the savage river and cant add any spots. Had a hotel reserved that we are out on money now as well. Thanks for being incompetent morons! A phone call would of been appreciated as we could of booked with another company that has an organized operation. What idiots.
Went on a raft tour with the whole family; so much fun with top-notch guides!! We ve been on 4 raft trips already with different companies in several US cities and this was definitely at/above the nationwide standard as far as we re concerned.
I have been rafting with WV many times over the last 20 years, and they have never disappointed. Most recently, they showed their empathy with their response to me having to cancel big plans with them this summer, due to the current pandemic. I will continue to recommend them to all my friends and family, and am excited for the next opportunity to return to Ohiopyle for another trip with WV!!
This is an amazing company and my go to group when I am in the area. I have used this company for years. Rafted the Upper, middle and lower yough and also took the kayak course and one on one time. Every aspect of their business is professional.
Amazing facilities to get ready and clean up in, friendly staff, awesome rafting experience and just genuinely great people. I had issues with a reservation due to a sudden car accident and they attempted to work with me and reschedule which was pretty incredible.
The guides are very experienced and confident and go out of their ways to ensure a safe journey....you cannot go wrong with this group......then end your day shopping at the store = perfect!!!!!
I have family that lives around here and we were looking for something new to try. Had heard about this place and it was a seriously awesome experience, by far my favorite part of the trip. Our guide was ridiculously knowledgeable of the river, how to maneuver, and I swear he knows where every rock is. If you're looking for some adventure, with some risk but a ton of fun, I can't recommend this enough. We did the level 3, had one person fall out of the raft but our guide just yanked them right back in the raft. 100 percent would recommend, I can't wait to go again.
Things I did not use to rate the company but just some advice. We did the middle yough. Its VERY rocky and shallow at points. Most of the time was spent getting off of rocks for 9 miles. Have a guide or strong paddlers. Bus trip is about 30 min and for us very cold. And after the 9 miles you have quite a walk back to the shop and its dangerous right now with construction on the bridge. VERY dangerous. Watch small children. ok why the 2 stars. We reserved 8 people over a month ago and added 2 more about a week ago. When i called a week ago i was told newly updated showers were available. They were horrible just from the looks and closed anyways. We were told on our trip we would have a boat in the front with a guide and a boat in the back with a guide. We could choose if we wanted a guide and I said I did due to having small children in ours. This was not the case and we were the only boat without a guide and we struggled and were rushed by the back boat. I was told there would be breaks to allow the children to swim. One time and they were only allowed 10 min after lunch. I was told there would be a variety of ham, turkey and veggie wraps yet there was only turkey. When i made the reservation i specified one on my guests COULD NOT have meat on their wraps. This was not communicated to the guides so my guest did not eat. Another guest didn't get chips because their were not enough. The guides were wonderful. Encouraged us when we were ready to give up. Also we started late. We arrived promptly at 11:30 and were turned away due to people not arriving yet. According to the reservation 11:30 is arrival 12:00 leave. We left closer to 1pm. Parking is horrible here too. People double park because honestly no choice and have to you to wait for someone to move a car.
We had a great day on the Lower Yough rafting with this crew! It was less expensive than the competitor down the road. The guides were very knowledgeable about the river and kept it fun throughout. The river itself was thrilling and challenging enough for seasoned rafters. Looking forward to doing one of their Class 4 and 5 fully guided adventures.
We took a Boy Scout troop on the Lower Yough rafting trip and it was an awesome experience. The staff was amazing - very knowledgeable, helpful, fun, and made what can be an intense, scary experience a ton of fun for the boys (and the adults!) Highly, highly, highly recommended!!
Have been there twice for kayaking lessons with austin and aaron and have had a blast while learning, they are both high energy and make it fun and very patient. Cant wait to go back
My partner and I did the middle. I called again to double-check that it was mild rapids class 1-2 they said very mild easy can do with a recreational kayak. Very calm. It was milled Aug haven't had rain in 2 months.....yet....they didn't seem to care that we were taking recreational kayaks without any kind of skirting etc we also had small luckily with life vests. They didn't seem concerned about our concerns when asked. We each flipped once and had to have people find our kayaks bring them back to us and US empty them several times. We were so afraid for our dogs. No one gave us a heads up only strange looks. we depended on the kindness of strangers of which most people that seem to experience just passed by and didn't care that we were using the rope I brought (50 ft) - (not suggested what to bring) we needed it because I had to get the dog across the rapids in the life vest across the water and my partner across the water as well. We could have lost our dog's big time it made us so angst and in tears frighened for them. There was one River guide..... He was in the middle of the group not at the end....asked him to help me get to my kayak and he asked me to keep swimming downstream instead of helping me. He seemed fine and not a care in the world had his own raft to himself. Needless to say we will not be going again or recommending them to anyone. We are experienced kayakers who have done several streams creeks and lakes....just not this level of Whitewater but we would have never done it if we were given the correct advice or caution. Even the website makes it seem legitimate and easy. If anyone does this course highly recommend using a raft. After thecthe response of the company shuttle children can of course do this course .....In their own recreational kayak....probably not.
Good rapids and the guide was very knowledgeable of the river but I paid extra for the deluxe trip that I thought we got to hike several different trails but only 1 ... Very disapointed in the deluxe trip it was definitely not worth any extra money is the only reason I gave three stars
Stopped in to take my 15 year old son to try out white water rafting. I tried to call before heading out on the 1 1/2 hour journey and no one answered. I got there and the people were not very friendly or accommodating. They said the only time for peddle and paddle was 9:30 and only had one more trip for the lower at 1:00 for the more advanced lower section of the river. I walked outside to decide what to do and was instructed by a girl that probably just got her drivers license how to straighten my vehicle up and park since there may be buses (they were not busy or crowded and only 15 minute parking) I am in my 40's and drive charter busses and fly planes and could clearly tell I was not creating an issue for anyone... After that I figured there has to be other outfitters in the area and made my way to White Water Adventures. I was promptly greeted with exceptional customer service and very friendly staff! They said I just missed a shuttle but they would take us anyhow. The cost was less and service was better! I highly recommend White Water Adventurers
These guys are the best hands Down on the Yough and Cheat. Great guides and just over all a great company to deal with. I love the falls City Pub which is a great place to go after a day on the water. Their bike trips are awesome and worth going on. So if you are going to Ohiopyle you need to go on the river with them. I read a review posted that someone was unhappy with them I find this suspect as the number of scout groups and friends I have sent to them no one has ever been unhappy.
We were on a 5 day bicycle camping trip and on the third day scheduled a raft trip with Wilderness Voyageurs. Although we were a non-guided group, we rode to he launch point on a bus with, as it turned out, a group of girl scouts and their rafting guides. Abby was the lead guide for the scouts. She did a great job of on-the-bus-entertainment, telling some hilarious stories on the bus, as well as keeping stuff organized. Thanks WV and Abby !!!! Abby, I was just kidding when I yelled "keep you day job" , referring to your story telling.
The best experience ever! Excellent Guides! We did the Lower Yough a week ago and had so much fun that this weekend we went back and did it all over again. Can't wait to try out th class V when we get through here again!
Amazing adventure! Guides were excellent!! Not only did they teach skills for safely navigating the rapids, they earned the trust of every paddler out there and had fun doing it. We would definitely recommend Zane and his fellow guides. We'll be back!! :)
Our biking group took a side trip up to Fallingwater, and utilized their van shuttle service for our pickup and return. Fast, efficient, and affordable on that front. Note: Their location does not offer a lot of places/racks to secure bikes, so a member of our group stayed behind to ensure our bikes and gear would be safe.
Review for BEGINNERS white water kayaking: Been wanting to try white water kayaking for awhile now, finally got to experience it. I did the beginners guided WW kayaking package which was 2 days on the river, breakfast included. Was NOT what I was expecting at all! I thought we d learn to roll then float down the river... wrong! There is so much more to WW kayaking people don t realize. It really is a mind over matter type experience. This is not for the weak minded, undetermined people. You will be cold, you will spend time upside down in the water, you will be scared. It s perfectly normal but with that being said it is not for everyone! If you don t feel up to the challenge I suggest not even doing this. But if you can gear yourself into fight mode then try it and stick it out both days, you will be glad you did!
About the guide: Josh is an excellent guide with many many years experience and it really shows. He takes his job seriously and his instructions were outstanding when it came to learning different techniques. He made it easy to understand and to put what you learned into practice. Most importantly, he makes you feel very comfortable in the water. Being calm, flipped upside down in the water with jagged rocks around your face seems impossible right? Well that s what he teaches, overcoming the panic is the first step and he ll give you all the tips and knowledge you need to succeed!
His helpers, nick, dan and Quinn were also very knowledgeable and helpful. Very upbeat and kept it fun!
What we learned: We learned how to roll, catch an eddy, ferry, bow rescues, emergency escapes, how to surf, how to read the river and some fancy paddle techniques so we could maneuver around rocks easily.
What to wear: No cotton! Workout clothes, fast drying, board shorts will do. They sell gear and have wet suits to rent as well
Some tips: -If you camp at the state park be sure to reserve a spot a ways ahead of time cause they are super busy and packed during the summer.
-if you type in Ohiopyle pa on the Airbnb app, a yurt at rafferty manor or a room for rent in the manor comes up as the first two searches which is literally right across the street from wilderness Voyageurs and to the right of the pub
-the pub down the street from wilderness Voyageurs is where you ll meet for breakfast then your guide will come collect you about an hour later and tell you where to meet to grab your gear
-Bring a water bottle you don t mind losing
-bring a change of clothes and a towel to leave in your car for afterwards, there s a public shower across from the kayak rental place.
-expect 12-15 other people. Yes, it was crowded but a few people didn t show the second day which made it so much more enjoyable imo, no offense to them it was just better less crowded. If this is going to be annoying, book a private lesson which is probably what I ll do next time.
My mom and I did the 3 day easy rider bike tour and had the most amazing time! 100% worth the money! Josh and Nic were incredibly generous, knowledgeable, and fun guides! We are planning on making a bike tour with WV an annual tradition! Later on we did a rafting day with Josh, he made the rafting experience so enjoyable. He has elite knowledge of the river and the area. Overall my experience with Wilderness Voyagers was 10/10 and I will recommend to anyone.
I hope my weekend experience with a peddle / paddle was an anomaly because I have used WV in the past without significant issues. However, the 5 of us registered and paid well in advance only to discover that they ran out of bikes. We were sent to the other location which was locked and empty of employees. The bikes we were given were low on air, handlebars that make you lean on your wrists the entire way, and seats that could not be adjusted without a tool. So we headed back across the bridge only to find that the manager was walking over towards our way. He opened the other location, tried his best to get us situated, adjusting height, etc working alone without a helper. After an hour delay, we were on our way. I would suggest that WV hire someone to check and maintain the bikes every day and another helper for the morning rush. The online form could also ask the person's height in advance so bike inventory could match the need when customers arrive. To top it all off, I was concerned about the flat tires so I asked what would happen if we got a flat? The answer: we were to walk back! It is a 9 mile trail! WV surely needs an emergency backup plan to assist stranded customers! P.S. And while I am providing this feedback: Is there any way to get the stench out of the bathrooms at the putin location? I do believe they sell chemicals that can help...
Wife and I attended their Civil War History Tour last year (2016) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Accommodations were top notch, food was superb, bike guides were fun, helpful, and knowledgeable. Tour took us to several battlefields where park guides met us and explained the history of each battle and how it developed. It may be somewhat "pricey" but we felt that we truly got our money's worth!
Zero stars. I took the beginners kayak course, a 2 day course with an instructor named Josh. The trip began with Josh putting me in a kayak that I could barely fit into - Josh said that it was because the shoes that I was wearing had too thick a heel. So he said that in order for me to fit into the kayak, I had to either a) buy a pair of shoes from the store (can you say "extortion"?), or go on the trip without shoes. I looked at the store shoe selection and felt that the least expensive $45 pair was still too much for a single purpose pair of footwear. As the trip began, I asked Josh if going without shoes on a kayak trip is advisable, and he said no, it is not. And yet, that is EXACTLY what he was having me do. I guess getting me a bigger kayak did not enter into the equation for Josh. As it turned out, I could barely cram my feet into the kayak I was given. This begs the question: if there is a height limitation for kayaking at this place because they do not have kayaks for people 6'-2" or taller, I feel that that should be clearly stated on the website, or when someone calls to register for kayaking.
The second day was supposed to begin with "rolling" instruction. Josh did an excellent job of showing ONE of the four students who took the course how to roll the kayak; spending about 20-25 minutes with the one student, and less than 5 minutes with each of the others. At the end of the second day of the course, my kayak turned over in some rapids, and since I received almost no rolling instruction, I had to pull myself out of the kayak and swim ashore. While in the rapids, I ended up breaking my toe on some rocks, something that would most likely not have happened if I had been given a kayak with adequate footroom for my feet and the pair of shoes that I brought. I felt that, as an instructor who is paid to teach students all that is advertised about the course, Josh had a complete lack of respect for me, a paying customer. For anyone wanting to learn how to kayak at Wilderness Voyageurs, I would suggest you request an instructor other than Josh.
5/24/15 Response to Ben's follow-up: Ben: In response to your follow-up from 2 weeks ago, when we spoke over the phone last summer and you offered the complimentary private instruction, yes, I did agree to it. However, what you did not tell me over the phone was that the complimentary instruction voucher expired in November 2014. Since it took 2 1/2 months for my broken toe to fully heal, and late September/October was too busy and too cold a time to do the instruction/roll class, I could not take up the offer.
In regard to the $17 pair of water shoes, I did not see them when I looked in the store, and no one told me about them. You say the Liquid Logic Stomper 90 is the biggest whitewater kayak you have, and the problem was not my height but my footwear (the shoes I brought was a regular pair of sneakers with a 1 to 1 1/4" thick heel). Well, we adjusted the foot holds as far as they could go (or at least Josh said they could not adjust any farther) and yet my feet, with NO SHOES ON, were crammed in and uncomfortable for the whole trip. This tells me that there should either a) be a height limitation listed on the website, or b) Josh was just not telling the truth. This also tells me that, if I did take the private instruction, it could have been in another kayak that my feet barely fit into.
When a company keeps NOT informing their customers about what to bring, what to expect in regard to equipment and instruction, and expiration dates, that company is bound to have some unhappy customers.
Just returned from the 6 Day, Katy Trail MO ride. Our group filled 10 of the 12 biking slots! The other couple who joined us was delightful and fit right in. We all agree it was a great experience and tons of fun. Our guides Teri Moore & Andres Alfaro were the best!! They were professional, friendly, and executed the trip with excellence. I highly recommend this company and am already looking at bike tours with them for 2021 .
Went on the lower Yough trip with girlfriend and two 13 year olds. Was a small group on our trip (only 12) so they put the group in two boats total with a guide, without the up charge. We had Brian as our guide and I cannot say enough good things about how good he was/is. He was incredibly competent, and knowledgeable. He lead and instructed us through the more challenging routes in the rapids, without losing anybody from the boat. I cannot recommend enough getting a guide unless you are an experienced rafter, it's well worth the extra 20$ a person. The river itself was beautiful, the water was clean and clear, and the rapids were exciting.
Last week, we booked a guide-assisted middle yough family rafting for our party of 7 and i should say we had a blast! Everyone totally enjoyed the rafting (its our 1st time rafting experience). The Guide (Chris) was very professional and helpful. A short ride in the van (with the rafts) to the put-in. He assisted the kids in one raft and the adults were on the 2nd raft following the guide. Weather was good (rained occasionally) and the experience was thrilling which we'll never forget. The route was very scenic while rafting. We would definitely go back with the same company. Chris (guide) was very helpful and took care of the kids' raft, set up a neat lunch (half way through the trip) and quality of food was also good. I would recommend this company and the guide (chris) for family rafting on the Ohiopyle. The town was also neat and we did some shopping in and around the town. Worth the money and cheaper than rest of the competitors. From a happy customer!
I went on the lower Yough rafting trip with my wife and our 14 and 19 year old daughters. We have canoed and kayaked before but not in rapids much. Our guide Zach "Mr. Sipe" was in our raft, I will say he made our trip 100% better than if we would have attempted it on our own! THANKS ZACH! This guy knows every turn and ripple on this river and is full of knowledge and experience, a great guide! We were at ease and enjoyed the entire experience. Got to see other outfitters crash their rafts full of clients into dimple rock, fortunately everyone was OK! A few nice stops to hike, swim, jump off rocks, and have a nice lunch! The trip took us about 3 hours and we will do it again for sure! Thanks! We will see you soon!
My family and I did the Middle Yough 9:30 rafting tour on 8/7 with Joe and Rainer. I wanted to let you know that they did a fantastic job. Joe's upbeat personality and Rainer's laid back demeanor along with his confident, knowledgable and helpful attitude really made our rafting tour special. Rainer rode in our raft and really made the difference from a potentially frustrating family challenge to a calm, interesting and just plain fun adventure. The staff at Wilderness Voyageurs made all the difference and your ability to hire and retain this talent is a real standout from other tour groups. My only recommendation is that the sandwiches provided were on the verge of being inedible.
Was a little sad about reading how all tours were like 2 hours and guilded due to Covid. However, my laziness set us up for the "golden moment" of our trip. I had chosen the noon trip so we could get up and not rush around getting there. Expectations were blown out of the water at check in when we were told it was a 4-5 hour trip with a snack. I was so excited because this was the experience I originally yearned for.
The trip itself was amazing and all because of Aaron and the team of guilds on the trip. I never felt in danger and they all worked together so that we always seemed to have someone around exactly when we needed them.
Plus, they all seemed to have a fun sense of humor. Thank you all for doing such an amazing job!
Now if I can just get this old body of mine to agree with how much fun it was...
My wife and I have never been white-water rafting, but we thought it looked fun, so we booked with Wilderness Voyageurs to do white water rafting on the lower portion (class 3 rapids) of the river that runs through Ohiopyle, PA. Had an absolute blast doing it, and they took very good care of everyone in the entire group. All totalled, there were approx 72+ people on the same excursion (6 people to a raft), and they had about 5-6 guides total for the entire excursion. 2 were in kayaks, one had a solo raft with supplies, and then 2-3 more were in rafts with groups. But they herded us down the river, helping us to navigate the rapids on the trickier ones (more significant drops & dimple rock, which has an underwater cavern to it - very dangerous). The guides were helpful, and very friendly. Only thing that I think would have been helpful - before we actually launched, the guides went through some pretty basic instructions on what to do in certain situations, etc... I wish they would have conveyed at that time that about 10-20% of us would need to use some of these safety techniques (i.e. white water safety position), because after the trip, I'm pretty sure at least 15 people (of the 72+) ended up getting tossed out of their raft in the middle of a rapid. Everyone was fine (no injuries) - but it was not until the I saw another raft completely flip during one rapid that I realized how important some of the safety talk really was. I would highly recommend the experience with this organization. They did a very good job - but pay close attention to the safety talk before you launch and know the white water safety position. You may need to know that.
Although I did enjoy my rafting trip down the lower Yough, I feel I have to leave a negative review here as the trip could have been far more enjoyable had it not been for our guide. I am not here to complain about rocks, fyi - I am aware the water level was low and that getting stuck is part of the fun. However - we spent 4.5 hours going down the river at a snail's pace, and since we had the honor of having the guide in our raft, we were not allowed to touch our paddles except when she ordered us to, and then we were told the exact amount of strokes to use, almost EACH TIME. We were then given 3 minutes approximately to swim in one of the natural pools. I would have far rathered going down the river at a decent pace, and then spending more time swimming and exploring. Instead we spent close to 4 hours just sitting on the boat, doing nothing, waiting for our next order. If you have even the slightest experience with white water I would strongly recommend renting a boat and doing it yourself. While you will get stuck on rocks more frequently, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy yourself, the whole reason you are spending 200 bucks to be there.
Edit: changed my review from two to three stars. The trip was definitely very enjoyable, and the guide was otherwise fun to be with. I believe the company has an over-emphasis on safety and an under-emphasis on fun.
We had a great trip down the Lower Yough with this company. Our trip didn't leave on time so we didn't get back until very late, but the experience was well worth it. Everyone was professional and fun. I hope to visit again when the water is a bit higher and also try out the Upper Yough trip at some point.
Great day on the water. They were wonderful hosts to a huge gaggle of Boy Scouts and parents. Our guide, Brant, was experienced and knowledgeable and helped us hit all the big waves on the way down the river.
If you re looking for something fun to do this summer, then I suggest visiting Wilderness Voyageurs in Ohiopyle, PA. This company is a pure pleasure to work with. They certainly go the extra mile, above and beyond accommodation. I have rented bicycles from them, rafted the lower Youghiogheny, and plan to revisit them for another rafting trip on one of the many different rivers that they offer (Upper Youghiogheny! Here we come!) From the reservationist to their raft guides everyone was great!!
We had a great experience with Wilderness Voyageurs. My husband and I joined a 4 day supported bike ride from Homestead PA to Cumberland MD. Our guides, Andres and Megan, were outstanding. They made sure we were prepared and had everything we needed throughout the trip. We highly recommend Wilderness Voyageurs bike trips.
I booked a bachelor party in ohiopyle with wilderness voyageurs. Though some miscommunications threatened the trip, kasia, the owner was very helpful in making the trip happen.
We stayed at the trillium lodge which is a huge, secluded cabin with a great view. It was well equipped enough to do just fine for 21 men in one place, which is alot to ask of any place.
We also went rafting on the lower. While weather and other conditions (hangovers) led to only 7 of us going rafting it was a very fun, fantastic experience. The guides are really great, genuine, knowledgeable, and entertaining.
There is a fantastic pub in the same area that the company is. The pub has alot of really great beers on tap as well as some pretty incredible food and a fun atmosphere.
I definitely want to go back some day and do more there. They have alot going on from the river to a super long bike trail to natural slide and famous houses. It's a really great trip and place for anyone looking.
My family and I came to Ohiopyle Thursday, rented a cabin from this company, went rafting on the lower Yough Friday, and had so much fun we went again Saturday! Our guide Tom was great! The rapids were an awesome experience, the people were all super friendly, and the store had everything we needed. The pub next door was great to chill at afterwards, 24 beers on tap (even Guinness for me) ;) I'm sure you will love it just as much as we did!
Anyone who has a less than great experience with this company must be one one of those people who no one can please.
Leaving a shout out here for Josh, Quinn, Dan, and Nick for some stellar instruction and patience over the two days we were working through the Learn to Kayak class. They are true professionals. Their ability to deal with all sorts of personalities, varying levels of athleticism (or lack thereof, in my case), and keep the class focused in high risk situations, takes a rare set of leadership qualities. If you re at all interested in whitewater kayaking, don t mind getting wet, and have some flat water kayak experience, you ll be in good hands. The difference in my confidence level from the first day sitting in my tight little creek boat to the third wet exit on the Middle Yough at the end of the second day, are light years apart. I ve got some real confidence in these instructors and hope to pick up some private instruction before the end of the season.
My #1 favorite rafting company in Ohiopyle. Professional, experienced, knowledgeable, SAFE and FUN! (The last two are pretty important on a rafting trip lol). My dad and I were running a little bit behind while getting our selves together before boarding the shuttle to go to the launch point (due to us both being super ADD) and Adam, who ended up being our in-raft guide, came over and helped us by grabbing our life jackets and helmets and helping us put them on properly, taking our COVID-safety precaution temperatures, and got us all settled to go and board the bus on time. What a nice guy! All the staff were absolutely phenomenal. They handled the pandemic so safely and organized - we felt very taken care of (both safe from the river and COVID). We rafted the Lower Youch and my dad had a BLAST - he couldn t stop smiling - that man had a ball (my dad is 67 years old and will let you know if he s not having a good time lol). Shout out to Adam for being an amazing and super helpful guide and the whole Wilderness Voyagers Team.
We did a Lower Yough rafting trip, which was a great time. Everything was well organized, and the guides did a nice job of ensuring both safety and that everyone had a good time. Sasquatch (aka Jordan) provided a steady stream of groaners that made certain that the safety briefing and the bus ride were entertaining.
I went into this experience with severe reservations but was convinced to go with coworkers who wanted the adventure of taking on Class 5 rapids. My nerves were apparent to all parties and so every member of the staff worked to calm me prior to getting to the entry point despite the fact that I had already paid. They did not need to calm me because they already had my money as my group paid. Despite this, they continued to do so because they didn't want me to miss out on an excellent experience in which they knew they could get me down the river safely. By the time we had made it a quarter into the trip I found myself whoo -ing in excitement because they had not only calmed me but made me feel incredibly safe and relaxed. I typically do not give reviews but the experience I had made me feel compelled to write one as I cannot thank the staff and guides who were able to take someone so nervous and allow them to have the time of their life! 5 stars definitely well deserved!
Went rafting in June on the Middle Yough with the incomparable guide Crash, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! We had 11 participants in 2 rafts, plus another 2 rafts with other groups. The river was high, which may have made the runs a little less bouncy, but still very fun. The Middle Yough run is great for groups of differing ages and abilities, and it is a great way to spend an afternoon. Pro tips: * Wear a HAT and use SUNSCREEN, especially on your legs. * They provide lunch, so if you have any dietary restrictions/preferences, be sure to let them know when you make the reservation. * You may want to bring a WATER bottle --just make sure it can clip to something, as there is a risk of items falling from the boat. * There may be an opportunity to swim at various places along the way, so dress appropriately. * HAVE FUN!!!
Amazing experience! It was our first time water rafting. Erin the instructor made it fun while also making us feel safe! Great staff. Great ride!! Would definitely do it again.
My husband & I had a wonderful white water rafting trip on the Middle Yough River. Our guide Lauren was awesome, she was so knowledgable, friendly and made our trip a blast. However our daughter unfortunetly did not have the same experience on her Lower Yough River trip. They stood waiting for over 20 minutes to get their gear with no one acknowledging the group of rafters waiting. The trip started late to say the least and appeared to be very over booked. There were over 15 rafts with only 5 guides and after each rapid they were made to wait over 20 minutes till all of the rafts made it thru each rapid watching other outfitters rafters paddle thru. Lunch was served late as well when the trip was scheduled to be over at 4:30 PM thats when they stopped for lunch. Lunch was very disorganized and it was very apparent that there were too many rafter for the guides to handle. Our guide Lauren should be commended she was great but we will choose a different outfitter next time due to our daughters experience.
Just went on our second trip whitewater rafting with Wilderness Voyageurs Rafting. They are so experienced and very good at it! We had a great time! Can't wait to go again!
This is the second time we have used this outfitter. Very friendly staff and always a good time. Our guides were Phil, who is the man! And makes rafting look easy, along with Austin who was knowledgeable and fun but his jokes need some work We cant wait to use them again. Thank you
What a great time, we traveled about 4 hours down the lower section it was much more exciting and intense than I expected and would not recommend this section for small children but the instructors were awesome and great at what they do and very knowledgeable and extremely helpful true professionals . I would definitely do that again great time.
Really enjoyed the rafting experience. However I am a 1st timer, not sure if the river was low but we spent a lot of time out of the raft dislodging the boat from rocks. A place that I feel needs improvement is the exiting of the river and returning to your vehicle. After spending the 5 hrs dislodging the boat you are required to haul your raft and equipment back up the hill to the truck that will not take paddles or life jackets. Which u are told to carry back with personal belongings and coolers roughly about a miles walk. However with tired children it's a death walk. How about a shuttle back. You bussed us up river. And also watch out at the top of that boat hill they just remove a post to allow an opening to pass boats through. One of our riders went shin deep in the unmarked hole
We went rock climbing and biking. Keith was wonderful at rock climbing. We were all new to it and he took me and my sons (age 13) on beginner rocks that were quite challenging. We came back and rented bikes to Confluence on another day. Flat trail and beautiful day.
Great guided trip down the lower Yough. Everything was well organized and run (closely adhered to all Covid safety protocols). Our guide Charlotte was excellent - her experience definitely enhanced our trip.
Good people, great fun, gorgeous place! Our small group was two adults and two 10 year old kids. We were staying one or two valleys over for spring break and a 78 degree Thursday turned up in the weather forecast. We called these folks on Wed and they set us up with a guide, a raft, lunch on the river, and a fantastic experience for an incredibly reasonable price. All equipment was in very good condition and well maintained. Lots of good instruction on safety. The Middle Yough was great for class 1 and 2 and a lot of flat calm spots. We will be back and recommend them highly.
I did a climbing tour with them and it was great! Everything went smoothly, and the guide (Quin) was super nice and friendly. The deli lunch had a tasty chicken salad, but the lettuce was not washed and the tomato actually had mold in it! I still recommend the adventure, I just hope they have better quality ingredients.
These guys were great! We did the raft tour where there was not a guide in our boat, but were in others and also had some in safety kayaks following the whole group. They really know their stuff and although it was scary at first ("what do you mean there's not guide in our boat?!?!") they really help a lot, explain things clearly, and build up your confidence! Our group was often stuck on rocks...we were all newbies at this....and the guides were all super helpful and patient helping us get free over and over again. haha
I did the lower Yough and had a great time, my tour guide did a great job making it a great experience the rapids were right at my threshold for difficulty making an awesome experience I definitely recommend Wilderness Voyageurs to anyone who wants to whitewater raft in Ohiopyle.
My daughters and I went rafting for the first time today. IT was hot. We were slow. The water wasn't that high. I HAVE TO GIVE PROPS TO AIDEN AND HAILEY. They were so patient with us
