Really nice, from the minute we walked in the door they made us feel like we were home. The Bar tender was a great and informative. He also makes great drinks. We had a wonderful meal. Pork rib eye, sweet potatoes and the soup of the day was a corn & green chili chowder. Do not miss the opportunity to to walk around and enjoy all The Will Cox has to offer... Thanks Tina!!
Living in Aiken, this is such a staple for locals and part of the rich history. Coming to the bar is a favorite for a glass of wine to enjoy the ambience and just relax mid day has always been something I've enjoyed, although I shouldn't have to hunt down a waitress for a drink, glass of water or an item on the menu. It's tiring.
Attended a wedding at The Willcox Hotel. It was very beautiful.
Great atmosphere, the food and service was very good.
Look forward to spending the night there later this year.
What an amazing Place beautiful delicious food friendly staff
They treat you with respect, like royalty. Everyone is wonderful. Stone massage was invigorating. Facial, pedicure, and manicure was top notch.
Beautiful historical hotel. Romantic rooms. Great location.
Superior service and hospitality, fantastic amenities and ambience. Will definitely stay again.
The staff was very attentive and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was outstanding and complimented the overall experience. This property offers an authentic historic southern feel and I have already booked my next stay.
Had dinner there, and even though we were dressed up and don't mind spending money it was a little too "artsy fartsy" for us. The steaks were good and my wife said her asparagus was good...but I had corn and I don't know what? It was not visually appealing and the taste did not appeal to me. We honestly were very unimpressed by the limited menu. While I'm sure this appeals to some I would strongly suggest a few basic items such as a steak, baked potato, a basic shrimp cocktail...a few things for the less adventurous.
the service got slow towards the end of our dinner. The staff was friendly and the Inn looked really nice and cozy. Maybe I'm being a little unfair, but I like to know what I'm eating and I guess I'm not very refined, and unless they have a seperate childrens menu I couldn't imagine bringing kids here for dinner.
I was here for a friend's wedding. They had a large, heated tent for the ceremony, and the food and open bar were excellent.
Soothing ambiance, superb service, and comfortable beds all in wonderful Aiken, S. C.
Beautiful historic hotel with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and great food. Perfect for a drink in the summer by the pool or by the fire in the great hall in winter. Rooms are luxurious with comfy beds and lovely big baths. Spa has some really good treatments too. Would move in here if I could.
When for lunch. Absolutely great. Food is fantastic. Service is great. Just try the Wilcox you will enjoy the food and atmosphere.
Went to an author round table event here and it was lovely. Fantastic staff, great atmosphere, beautiful surroundings.
My First Time To Ever Go There. The Sunday Morning Brunch And The Food And Service Was Outstanding..
First of all there was hardly ANY parking (no big deal), we got to the front and evidently there was an event going on so we were asked to enter by the pool area (also no big deal), walked thru the hallway to the desk and were seated (normal). We had arrived 10 minutes before 5 (for a 5:00 reservation) so when we were seated we were told that the kitchen was not open for another 10 minutes (again no big deal) but were not offered a drink and the bar was open (not very professional - please remember that my husband was a restaurant manager for MANY years), ordered the 6 oz filet mignon medium rare and when it came out it was medium, not medium rare (also no big deal). The food was fabulous, the server was fabulous, the meal ticket came to $116 and I gave the server a 35% tip (so we were pleased with the meal itself).
When we were getting ready to leave, we were close to the front door and there were people seated in what I would call the lobby, my husband asked a server if we could go out that door (being that it was not the one we entered thru) and was told "yes, by all means". HOWEVER, when we GOT to the front door, a woman (didn't catch her name on her name tag) said "oh, you can't got out this door, you have to go out by the pool" while a gentleman on the outside of the door had already opened the door for a couple entering. My husband said "the door is already open and we are going out it". THAT was the straw that broke the camel's back for him. When we got home, he called the Willcox and registered a complaint.
As I said, these were TINY things that we felt were not appropo but when that woman said we couldn't go out the door that we were 1 foot away from and it was already open, that's when my husband put his Restaurant Manager hat on, so to speak, and told me that he was going to call them when we got home, which he did. The woman he spoke to was VERY apologetic and said the manager was busy and would call him back, still waiting on that call.
For a 5-star restaurant, the treatment we received from the "guard dog" at the door was HIGHLY unacceptable and ruined an otherwise perfect birthday celebration.
The chicken liver pate is to die for. Followed by their hamburger and you are in delicious heaven and calorie help!
After reading about the history and reputation of The Willcox, my husband and I decided to give it a try. We live in a small town outside of Lexington, and it takes us the same distance to go to downtown Columbia as it does downtown Aiken, and we love checking out Aiken for a change of scenery. Our first experience was AMAZING! As business owners who pay attention to details, and are in a service industry ourselves; our bar is set pretty high when it comes to impressions. We ended up sitting at the bar during happy hour and stayed for dinner. The bartenders and wait staff were very attentive and personal, and the food was outstanding. I loved the warm & cozy atmosphere and architectural details that can only be found in historical places this. The Willcox is a great gem to check out for those looking for a quaint place with lots of charm and an exceptional experience. I would highly recommend them, and we will definitely be back!
Best hotel in Aiken. Sunday brunch is incredible and we will definitely be back. Love the old timey feeling.
Good food. Good service. Normal clientele has one foot in the grave, but that's normal for Aiken.
We highly appreciated the service we received at this hotel. This was an anniversary trip for my wife and I where we had grandiose plans, unfortunately, I became I'll during my stay. The staff and management we're incredible at attending to us and bringing ginger ale and crackers to my room. I cannot recommend this place enough, and we are planning to return again for our anniversary this year to make up for our missed in room dinner, couple's massages, and beautiful area to walk and explore downtown.
The atmosphere is not very cordial, the treatment of the staff is very friendly the food a bit tasteless the garnish very poor the salad I give a 5 needs more body
The Willcox is top notch all around. The hotel decor is sophisticated charm. The staff could not have been nicer every step of the way. Michelle at the front desk was the nicest woman. The bartender knew how to make a great drink. The restaurant was wonderful. They truly wanted our family to have the best stay and went out of their way to make sure that happened. They did not have a small bike for children when we wanted to go on a bike ride and the owners of the hotel went and purchased one just so my daughter could ride a bike. We will for sure be coming back and we highly recommend staying at the Willcox!
A very charming cozy place to have a drink and socialize. Food is very good. Staff is outstanding. Love the fireplaces.
Excellent food & Service at the restaurant, all at a reasonable price.
I've dined there twice for lunch & both times have been fabulous. The lunch menu is broad & diverse with something for everyone.
Scallops were excellent, service and atmosphere were great. I really enjoyed it.
Love this place but no hard cider available from the bar. Just does not make sense at all. It would be perfect in this setting.
Decent selection of cocktails and desserts. If you like chocolate, try the chocolate storm cocktail. Delicious!
Truly remarkable experience. Amazing rooms, amazing premises, very friendly staff. Will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommend the Wilcox suite.
outstanding lunch in an historical hotel with old friends.
Slow service, decent food but not quite worth the price tag if you don't eat red meat
Had brunch there this morning. Everything was great. The wait staff was very friendly.
Lobby bar is a great place to stop and have a drink.
The food was excellent, and the waitress was very polite.
If you want to take a step back in time and get a flavour of the Old South in another era, there are few places that match that better than the Willcox Hotel in Aiken, SC. The ambiance is easygoing and just comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. There are places to sink into a plush lounge seat or sofa and have a drink brought to you while there is the glow of the fire in the distance, sit at the bar and be in close proximity to many others, or simply go straight to the dining area which is separate from the lounge, bar, foyer. The food is good with a choice in the menu to suit carnivores, fish lovers or vegetarians. There is an extensive wine list and the staff are polite and attentive in a way that the south does best. Always worth going out of your way for a visit-even if it is for afternoon tea. Parking is limited right outside the door but think of it like this, if you walk two minutes to get there, you have probably earned dessert in the restaurant!
We visited for a wedding.
The staff was phenomenal, both friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, and we experienced appetizers, dinner, and desserts.
The Wilcox is a great place. The food is amazing, the service and employees are all wonderful. There is a great mix of locals and people from out of town. The hotel itself is a history lesson straight out of the books. The rooms are all incredibly unique, with huge comfortable beds. They make you feel like you are staying in your own turn off the century mansion. The hotel is also in walking distance to downtown Aiken. It is definitely worth staying there to experience the atmosphere even if you already live in Aiken.
Great lunches. Imaginative, not too expensive. Good setvice!
We enjoyed the visit to Willcox, with the old charm of the south and this unique character.
With an exclusive outdoor party and music so loud that it polluted the neighborhood for blocks in every direction, I complained to the manager, who responded with complete indifference to the aggravation caused.
Great classic southern hospitality & gourmet food.
What a wonderful experience! Beautiful atmosphere, great service, and the food was beyond anything I've ever tasted. The live pianist really set the mood. Definitely worth the visit, and I highly recommend.
The service was great, but they tried a little too hard to set their brunch apart and over did it. It wasn't that good.
Excellent wait staff, delicious food, and I LOVED the live jazz!
Atmosphere is delightful. Food and service average. Prices moderate.
Went in with my husband for our anniversary. We didn't have a reservation but, were seated immediately.
The waitress and kitchen staff moved heaven and high water to honor my custom meal request.
The atmosphere was very nice. Although this is a fine dining Establishment, I never felt overwhelmed, judged, or out of place.
Me and hubby Don't participate in the fine dining atmosphere. However, this was a great experience and we will definitely be back!
Everything about my stay was top notch. My only complaint is the smell of moth balls when walking through the lobby and in the hallway. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate.
It was an after hours work event in the Hunt Room. The staff was extremely professional and polite. The hotel itself was gorgeous.
The place is immaculate. The staff, courteous and friendly. The food amazing and decently priced. Steeped in history, every room you walk in is like a gallery. Acomodated for myself, wife and our Jack Russell, Tweezle. Even made him a grilled chicken breast to eat!
Love this place, will definitely go again.
Service great, the waitress explained everything we had a lactose free person with us . Food was . great. Atmosphere was nice, loved the phone booth. Great experience!!!!!!
Awesome! Great food, wine and service!!! A must do!
Fantastic atmosphere. Really good food. Best drinks in town!!!
Probably the most luxurious relaxed elegant hotel experience. I base mine on traveling for a living. Will never miss the opportunity to visit this special hotel.
Due to the 'fabulous' New England weather we couldn't attend the Willcox. And surprisingly, they refunded all of our money the day we were to check in.
We just went for dinner. Many choices, fairly expensive. Good waiters. Lovely bar. A favorite among "townies".
Oh my goodness, service was wonderful. The atmosphere was perfect. The food was incredible. Loved it.
Staff not always friendly. Could stand to have a few maintenance things done along with cleaning the carpet in the lobby.
Wonderful service and a beautiful historic building.
Wonderful, classic, comfortable. Food and drink selection was a treat. Golfers need to play the nearby Aiken Golf Club. A true gem.
I have spent two weekends at the Willcox and am looking forward to returning!I say it's like staying at your rich aunts home(if I had a rich aunt) but not at all pretentious....just comfortable, welcoming & hospitable! The little touches like the library and having Vintage board games a available were awesome (we played Clue ) Of course enjoying cocktails in the beautiful lobby while enjoying live music did not disappoint!!
