i go to the Willcox all the time and love there! my friends parents own it and the experience is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful and nice hotel.
Beautiful old hotel. Friendly staff, great food, comfortable rooms, awesome location!
My wife and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary at their amazing restaurant. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wine and dishes they served. The food was also great. We would definitely recommend the Willcox restaurant to anyone!
A one of a kind JEWEL located off the beaten path in beautiful Aiken South Carolina. This property has been wonderfully preserved. Handsome furnishings and decor add to the southern charm this place is known for. Fantastic jazz playing in the family room lounge and the on-premise restaurant was excellent. We will definitely share this sensational secret with our friends and family.
I only ate in the restaurant and visited with friends in their suite but I could tell this is a very nice hotel! My friends very much enjoyed their stay and had nothing negative to say about the experience!
Celebrated a friends birthday here for brunch and had an amazing experience! They were very accommodating for 9 people. The food was simply amazing, and the drinks were fabulous and not very dramatically priced. It was very reasonably priced brunch options. Would highly recommend The Wilcox!
Wife and I went for brunch on a Sunday. Food excellent, drinks excellent, service excellent. If you don't want to sit in the bar area, remember to call for reservations. We sat in the bar area at a high top table and got excellent service from bartender Carl.
Really awesome hotel. The Sunday brunch is incredible and very reasonably priced.
Like nowhere else in Aiken. Comfortable, first class but not pretentious.
Beautiful old building, waitress was very nice and did her job well. Food was just ok.
Awesome, awesome, awesome! My 1st time here was a great experience! The food was devine and the service was exceptional. I love the sustainability of the hotel and food. I had the delicious Salmon dinner which was cooked perfectly and Arugula salad,
I highly recommend it. I met a beautiful Albanian woman and her lovely Turkish cardiologist husband who made my evening extra special. The conversation was intriguingly international, such a pleasure to speak with like minded, worldly people! So refreshing! Having dinner here was the best idea I'd had all day, lol! I will definitely visit this fine establishment again! 5 stars indeed!
Brought my girlfriend here for our anniversary and they did not disappoint. Service was top notch, food was incredible and the made one of the best Negroni cocktails I've ever had. More of a special occasion place for myself due to the $$, but I'll definitely be back!
Very quiet and relaxing. Staff is friendly and helpful.
We love The Wilcox! My husband surprised me with a spa experience and it was awesome! Thank you Jade and Kathetine, 5 stars for you two. Love the rooms, the food and all the staff!

My amazing mom and sisters planned a fabulous surprise wedding night getaway at The Willcox! That was both of our first time ever even in the building! I knew it was beautiful but no one could have prepared me for how much I would love that place! Everyone was very warm and welcoming, I couldn't stop looking around at the decor, we were given a glass of champagne as we checked in, and there was the most delicious food warm and waiting for us when we arrived, the room was gorgeous and smelled fantastic not just from food! We had the scallops which were cooked to perfection and a watermelon cucumber salad that was perfectly refreshing and easy to eat for a new bride's knotted stomach! The bed was so comfortable I wanted to bring it home! We had breakfast in this beautiful dining area! I am still dreaming about their blueberry lemon French toast! Before we left to come home we were sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch looking at the beautiful homes across the street my new husband mentioned how great it would be to just come across and dine there all of the time!
Super neat old building. Food was a little too fancy but atmosphere was good. Nice staff and great spa
Beautiful, historic hotel! Food excellent & a very lively bar!
It was a bit expensive so I would only go here on special occasions. I got the mother's day brunch buffet which was absolutely delicious. There is something for everyone in this mix as well. The coffee was above average, but nothing to write home about. The interior is gorgeous and definitely has some history to it.
I rarely write reviews but in this case I felt I should. It is very sad to a once fine old hotel begin a March of neglect towards its demise. I know we all hear the excuse due to the Covid used by everyone and their Uncle but that s not the case here, rather poor management. I found the staff arrogant and lacking in manners. Our room (311) threadbare carpeting, broken window panes, bathroom lighting so dim you needed a flashlight to shave.
The food service was alright but I was expecting to wowed but the presentation and preparation. To my dismay I found both totally lacking with awful coffee. Waffle House serves a better breakfast.
I will say the large wading pool was nice and probably the nicest part of the entire hotel. Too bad it is only four feet deep.
Fabulous food, terrific ambiance and genteel atmosphere that is so friendly and fun and casual gatherings.
Local favorite! Fabulous food with old school ambiance...I feel like it hasn't changed much inside since the days of the Winter Colony. Don't hesitate to try if you are in town!!!
Four of us went for lunch and drinks on a sleepy Monday afternoon. The setting, of course, was very charming and the food inventive. The staff was friendly and accommodating, letting us move from the dining room to the lobby (by a big wood-burning fireplace) for post-meal dessert and drinks.
Charming hotel to grab dinner & drinks in heart of downtown Aiken!
We had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner at The Willcox Inn on May 30, 2014. Amanda Slayden, the catering director, and the rest of the staff did a superb job. Everyone was very professional, well organized, and very accommodating. The facility and the food were amazing. Amanda Slayden was amazing to work with. From day one of planning this event over nine months ago, she provided great assistance and suggestions that made everything very special. She made me feel comfortable and confident from day one that The Willcox would deliver a wonderful event. And they did. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, I highly recommend The Willcox Inn. My son insisted on not having assigned seating which created some confusion with our guests at dinner. That was my fault for not having a seating plan and letting my son have his way on that. My only suggestion to anyone having a special event anywhere with a plated meal is to have a seating plan. The Willcox staff handled it spectacularly though and got everyone seated and comfortable. Thanks to The Willcox Inn our event was wonderful.
Enjoyed the atmosphere. A real push place with an affordable menu. I love to drink whiskey but the prices here around whiskey are way out of whack! The the best whiskeys in the world are produced by LIDL they are nit available to restaurants and too bad because the price-worth relation at the Wilcox is out of line. Great meals for decent prices, and the ambiance is to loud. If I'm looking for a sports bar with TVs running constantly then I'll go to Applebee's not to a 5 star hotel. Sorry guys, you do good but DIDN'T knock my socks off.
Wilcox food review, We ate out doors on the porch in the shade Sunday morning. Well, cushions for the chairs would have been nice they're not very comfortable. Service nice & friendly. The wait for food was probably 40 minutes so don't go real hungry. (It wasn't busy at all around 10ish). Prices were Ok, $$ to $$$.
I ordered cheesy grits I didn't taste any cheese in them . I Could hear the piano Guy which was always one of my favorite things about going to the Willcoxs Hotel.
Beautiful and comfy atmosphere. Great service. Excellent food.
Old world classic. This place is truly special. The atmosphere is so inviting and you can feel the history.
Gentile elegance and architectural details that bring me back to those charming old days
I highly recommend this restaurant. It has great atmosphere, service and food.
Beautiful hotel, lots of history, an unforgettable experience
If you are looking for authentic, this is it. Nothing better than spending an afternoon enjoying some cocktails at The Willcox.
My visit to The Willcox was pleasant. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
I've been meeting here for lunch 2 or 3 times a year now for several years. The kitchen just got decidedly better. This made the experience of dining so much more enjoyable. The main reason I came here before was that the environment is so civilized and pleasant. Just lovely place to sit for a really long midday meal and chat.
Went in after attending a parade to listen to Christmas carolers and have a warm drink before we continued walking. We ordered hot chocolate and our waitress brought us overpriced, room temperature Swiss Miss in a to go cup. Most certainly got the impression that we weren't worth her time. Probably won't go back. It was my second time here and I have yet to see anything impressive.
Very comfortable and accommodating. Breakfast and lunch service a bit slow.
The Wilcox is a beautiful historic building that feels like home. The staff are friendly and the food is great!
Beautiful hotel, great service, amazing food! Was there for a family event in the private library & everything was perfect!
The very best service, delightfully exquisite wine and beautiful prepared meals.I was Tempted to photograph my filet mignon but did not want to upset those less fortunate.
Great food and atmosphere. A camera crew came in as our party was leaving and began capturing the service and beautiful people that were selected. Perhaps they were Models or local Aiken elite, not sure as we are from the Appalachians Mountains in North East Tennessee. I keep thinking we could use a little of the Wilcox Hotel and its dining experience back home. Everything was wonderful.
In the morning there was no hot water and the hallway was loud when we were trying to fall asleep.
My husband and I enjoyed the Presidential Suite for two nights while we married in Aiken and hosted our wedding reception at The Willcox. We are from out of town and planned our events remotely. The hotel, food, ambiance, and staff were top-notched. Hats off to Katherine Gratham, events director, for making our poolside luncheon reception a joyful memory.

The food and service were spectacular. Our favorite place to eat in Aiken.
Beautiful building. The dinner we had in the lobby was fantastic!
Great place would eat again! Everyone who works there is so knowledgeable about the entire menu
Wow, this place was amazing -- we initially booked it just as an extension to our beach vacation (in FL) so we could visit family (in SC), but by the time all was said and done, the whole family thought the Willcox Hotel was the *highlight of the entire vacation*! I wouldn't know where to begin with all that we loved. Maybe our favorite was one night eating dinner in the common area on a couch, and meeting many interesting travelers and wonderful staff, and even taking the hotel bicycles for a spin in the beautiful evening. And the pool! And the rooms and bedding!
Beautiful!! Service, staff and food we're exceptional!!
We went to the restaurant tonight and we ordered a 4mage which we thought will be an assorted cheese platter. How was our surprise when they bring us a very small piece of cheese ! One piece of cheese for $15. Very expensive for one piece of cheese which was absolutely not what was described on the menu. It was supposed to be cow, sheep, goat cheese ... when you read this how you can imagine that you will be served only one piece of cheese ! They were absolutely no sheep or goat cheese in this cheese. We said something to the waiter but he didn t try to please us with something else. This was totally over price for what it was, very disappointed about it and very disappointed with the fact that no act was done to make us happy. On the check out order was named under Gouda cheese which as nothing to do with what we have eaten. So the atmosphere was nice and cozy but they definitely don t know what they are serving.
Dining experience was perfect! Great waitstaff! Perfect setting.
If you enjoy old hotel you will love the charm of this one. Totally redone however still a charming place.
Beautiful historic boutique hotel! The architecture and woodwork in this hotel is amazing--it really gives you the feeling of being in the Old South. The amenities are fantastic--I would have loved to have taken a dip in the beautiful pool if it hadn't been so cold while we were there. I also wish I could have taken advantage of the spa--it looked wonderful. The service here is excellent, too--for drinks, dinner, and the complimentary breakfast. I cannot rave about our stay here enough. I highly recommend you stay here when you come to visit Aiken!
Had lovely fish and chips. Burgers are outstanding! Lunch is very nice. Espresso meh.
Consistently incredible. One of my favorite places.
My wife and I stayed over Christmas and enjoyed marvelous dining and the great staff catered to our English Bulldog, Smedley as well! We are returning in August for another stay! -- all 3 of us! Smedley is picking up the tab!
A beautiful historic hotel and the restaurant is fantastic! We enjoyed great service in this high end restaurant and hotel. Worth a trip
Beautiful hotel! Super nice service and amenities. The only bummer was a late check out after a late wedding was not available.
The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and very helpful, John the bar tender is great and can make what ever you can think of and one of these days I'm going to stay in the hotel cause it just looks so great.
First time visitors! Absolutely loved the food, service and atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!
The Wilcox is a charming inn with a lovely pool where you can sit and enjoy a beverage. They make one of the best mojitos I have ever had!
Food is great, waitress friendly, decor lovely, quiet, my favorite.
The Wilcox is a timeless hotel to stay at. I absolutely love the atmosphere. The night auditor is an absolute delight to work with.
What a beautiful, historic, relaxing place to be. The breakfast was yummy. The staff were very attentive. The attention to detail is much appreciated. The history is rich. And, there is so much offered in Aiken and the surrounding area year-round. I hope I have another opportunity in the future to stay here.
Love the house keeper Mary Hogan very respectful and welcoming thank you again Mary Hogan
Actually had dinner here and it was delicious. The goat cheese cheesecake was heavenly.
I was not at all impressed with the service I recently received. I stopped by with a friend on Tuesday at 4:00. We sat in the bar. We ordered a glass of wine and asked for a menu. We were informed that dinner menu was not available until 5 and we were given a bar bites menu. We decided to have an appetizer and then order dinner which we told the bartender. We ordered the hummus and after a fifteen minute wait we were told that they were out of hummus. So we had truffle fries....at 5:00pm, we had to request a dinner menu. At 5:15, we still were waiting for someone to take our order or even offer us another glass of wine....the overall attitude from the bartender who did not offer his name at initial contact of service was one of extreme disinterest. While being passed over numerous times without an offer of water, drink or dinner request, I observed the bearded bartender tend to guests at the bar and behind us. I have dined all over the world and I was not at all impressed with the service or rather lack of service from this historical Wilcox Inn.
The Wilcox is an experience, and if you have a couple of days I would encourage you to visit. They have an excellent restaurant in house, and some amazing bartenders who will not disappoint if you just go off menu and let them make you what you want. The rooms are clean, nice and comfortable. You will find them to be more traditional, designed more for you to enjoy your stay, rather than just being a place to sleep.
If you are visiting Aiken, it is a short walk from the downtown strip with local food, shopping and drinks and they also offer complimentary bicycle use if you want to take a self-guided tour.
Breakfast is delightful with a made to order menu available every morning.
Take the time to slow down a little, and enjoy the experience that the Willcox offers.
Great place to sit with a friend and talk over drinks, much like sitting in a friend's living room. There are also rocking chairs out front, good for people watching.
Great atmosphere, beautiful rooms, friendly staff. An excellent experience.
