First of all there was hardly ANY parking (no big deal), we got to the front and evidently there was an event going on so we were asked to enter by the pool area (also no big deal), walked thru the hallway to the desk and were seated (normal). We had arrived 10 minutes before 5 (for a 5:00 reservation) so when we were seated we were told that the kitchen was not open for another 10 minutes (again no big deal) but were not offered a drink and the bar was open (not very professional - please remember that my husband was a restaurant manager for MANY years), ordered the 6 oz filet mignon medium rare and when it came out it was medium, not medium rare (also no big deal). The food was fabulous, the server was fabulous, the meal ticket came to $116 and I gave the server a 35% tip (so we were pleased with the meal itself).

When we were getting ready to leave, we were close to the front door and there were people seated in what I would call the lobby, my husband asked a server if we could go out that door (being that it was not the one we entered thru) and was told "yes, by all means". HOWEVER, when we GOT to the front door, a woman (didn't catch her name on her name tag) said "oh, you can't got out this door, you have to go out by the pool" while a gentleman on the outside of the door had already opened the door for a couple entering. My husband said "the door is already open and we are going out it". THAT was the straw that broke the camel's back for him. When we got home, he called the Willcox and registered a complaint.

As I said, these were TINY things that we felt were not appropo but when that woman said we couldn't go out the door that we were 1 foot away from and it was already open, that's when my husband put his Restaurant Manager hat on, so to speak, and told me that he was going to call them when we got home, which he did. The woman he spoke to was VERY apologetic and said the manager was busy and would call him back, still waiting on that call.

For a 5-star restaurant, the treatment we received from the "guard dog" at the door was HIGHLY unacceptable and ruined an otherwise perfect birthday celebration.
