Despite the pool having a very busy swimming gala there were still lanes for public swimming open. Flumes and jacuzzi all open and available. Staff & Lifeguards were friendly and helpful. Changing rooms were clean and tidy.

Great pool, amazing gym and gym staff. The place is normally clean and tide ant hygienic. The only thing that lets it down is the rude reception staff who sit on their iPhones and roll their eyes when you need help.

Tries to promote the Everyone Fit for life image yet the gym is focused towards adults. I couldn't take my (well behaved) kids in there after a certain time. Gave up and joined another Gym in the end.

Plymouth Life Centre sells everything you want in your life. Gym membership, Swimming Pool access, a Climbing Wall and Cappuccinos. You could in theory live in the centre. You could disguise yourself as a cleaner. When staff members ask why you're always in the centre. You could distract them by shouting "Look! Mermaid Ghost!!" and point at something that is not really there. When they turn around to look, that is your cue to run away.

Had to wait over an hour for a session. Was OK, but nothing special. Ridiculously slippery floors in the changing rooms and pool side, yet the stairs for the flumes were grippy. Why can't the slippery areas not have the same surface as the stairs!

What an excellent venue this is, having not used really ever for years and thinking of joining, I have discovered possibly the best club in the area, i have tried a number of places over the years and have been let down due to annoying class times etc... but there are no restrictions here which i like, fat superior to marjons which has a good gym but the swimming is a nightmare due to the frustrating timetable they have and the way it interferes with normal swimmers who just want a swim, safe to say this is now my backup plan.

Absolutely disgusting. After checking online and phoning we went to the centre from Cornwall, with four excited children, to be told the toddler pool and flumes were closed for the day, this was at 11.30 am, they'd known all morning yet hadn't advertised on line nor advised on the phone at 9am! We weren't told this until they'd taken our Payment. Today we rang to confirm the pool was open and there weren't any problems, again we turn up to be told they had timed slots for the pool..... 2 hours ahead of our time! We were not told this on the phone! When asking the staff we were told by a member of "management" it wasn't her problem! A shrug of shoulders and walked away! If you plan on stopping here on a rainy day whilst on holiday.... or infact at all, I'd avoid. Rude unorganised staff, very unwelcoming. Complete chaos.

This is a great leisure centre in central Plymouth.

Outside, there is a large car park, with several spaces, as well as a smaller car park behind the centre with some more parking spaces.
Inside, there is a cafe near reception selling food and drinks, as well as seating and a view of the swimming pool.
After receptions, there are changing rooms for the swimming pool they whole way down the corridor, as well as sports halls and lockers. On the floor above, accessed via the stairs or the lift, has a view of the pool.
In the swimming pool area, there is a deep pool with diving boards; two normal swimming pools; and a play pool with a water-slide and Jacuzzi.

Turned up today for first time with my partner and children became members and was told that the polol was full until 2pm. My partner went up and spoke to advisor at 1330pm as they were a lot of people queing and we wanted to make sure we would be able to get in the next session only to be told that the first advisor who signed us up should have given us wristbands which they didn't do. Now been told we have to wait until 315pm now. Now have 3 very agitated children. Very poor customer service.

I have been a member of Plymouth Life Centre for over twelve months now and have enjoyed the range of classes that have been on offer there. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, many classes have suddenly been stopped, even the popular ones with high attendance rates! In fact there are now very few classes left from Thursday onwards. Alas, just prior to these classes vanishing from the class timetable I renewed my membership for another twelve months. Unless they reverse the decision to cancel so many good classes I can't see me renewing my membership with Plymouth Life Centre again. There are plenty of other health clubs in Plymouth offering a good range of classes throughout the week. I just wish I didn't have to wait another 12 months before leaving Plymouth Life Centre and joining another health club.

The gym is good, the pool is good if you're not a member but annoying when you realise that you can hardly ever actually use it even when you pay for it.

The gym is the only thing that saves this from being a one star review.

BE CAREFUL, a warning to anyone thinking of becoming a member. They tell you that there is a service you can use free in the gym called everyone active online - they never ever tell you about a cost to it unless you read the small print, everyone is signed up to this unless they say they don't want to be (we didn't in particular, but thought it was free so why not )and no cost is ever mentioned until the first time they draw money out - and then they say that it'll be drawn out every month and that the free part indicated free use of the computers in the gym to log into it. Disgusting sales techniques, its a rubbish service anyway.

The customer service here is shocking. After sending an email regarding swimming lessons it took 6 days for a response which was a voicemail. On calling back all the phone ever does is ring out to answer phone as there is never anyone to answer the phones. The cafe isn't great either with some grumpy service and no many healthy options for a gym that is meant to be promoting healthy living.

For me it was a bad visit perhaps everybody was having a bad day. The older lady at the Entrance Pay Point gave the impression she was there under sufferance although she did deign to serve us it was with a face that could freeze water from 50 metres. Most of the staff were very polite and helpful but the "Lifeguards" could do with asserting their authority a little more. After all rules are rules and should be enforced whether the patrons are young or old. Maybe people would take more notice of them if they stopped preening themselves and adjusting their underwear et al in front of everybody.

Took our young daughter swimming. The jacuzzi wasn't on, the fountain wasn't on and the slides were closed. When we've been before at the same sort of time as its a little quieter for toddlers and all have been up and running. When we asked the life guard when they'd be open they told us that they usually are by now but todays supervisor didn't want to open them until 4:30pm. We weren't the only ones who enquired but had we known we might have chosen a different time or a venue that had these facilities running.
Life guard was lovely and wasn't their fault but we were all left very disappointed

Fully recommend being a member. Classes for all levels of fitness. Aqua fit and sh'bam highly recommended for beginners. When your ready for more intensive try body combat, group cycling and core conditioning. There are higher intensity classes too but I'm not ready for those yet! Lovely to have access to that giant pool too!

A great place to swim and exercise. However, for the price, the student is 365 pounds a year and swims 3 pounds. The water is very clear, but sometimes it will suddenly clear the water to clean up the water, which is a little troublesome. The students' words are free for some time, but they are basically at 17 or 18 o'clock in the evening. There are a total of five pools, including a diving pool. I heard that there will be several pools and a 50m lane together on the weekend morning. There is also a slide that slides down from the top of the child, but I haven't tried it. The classmates are playing very high~ there is a small pool similar to the hot springs, which is generally good.

Extremely disappointed that the life centre Management decided not to acknowledge the minutes silence today to remember our fallen. Disgraceful.
Would not of gone if we had known.
Thankfully our club didn't agree.
You have let down your members and staff and most of all your country!!
Definitely 0 stars.

Plymouth Life Centre is a place where nobody respects your time.

It's been a second time when group exercise class has been cancelled and nobody warned me about that!!! I will repeat, twice there was a cancellation, twice nobody thought about telling me, twice I came for nothing. I really don't understand why nobody could send me at least one SMS or email about the cancellation?? Is it a very difficult thing to do?

If I am already writing this negative review I have to mention everything else what was upsetting me.

Once your employee phoned me early in the morning when I was sleeping. I was waiting for the call,so I picked it up. I couldn't understand what he was saying, because I was still half asleep. He just hung the phone. Without even trying to repeat what he was saying. I think it's very rude, especially when you interrupt someone's sleep.

Other time when I just started going to the Life Centre one of your workers told me the wrong classroom. It's the class with not a lot of people coming. I waited. After 15 min I went to check what is going on and found out that the class is already happening only in completely different place. I was already 20 mins late, so I went home.

And your floors are always filthy and disgusting! There was a sticky stain on the floor which nobody cleaned for at least 2-3 weeks!!! Every time I am doing yoga I need to blow away someone's hair, they are like tumbleweed moving around the room.

I am going to the Life Centre for 10 months already, more than three times per week, sometimes even every day. So that you know that I am not an accidental grumpy visitor.
Fortunately, despite all of this, I don't have any complaints towards the trainers. They are the only reason why I am still going to this place

The place is brilliant but it lacks the most important thing in every business which is Customer care. The phone is never answered and the people at reception seem not to know what they re doing. Also it would help with name tags on uniform. On a positive note the swim teachers are brilliant. All of them hence my one star.

Really awful experience in the cafe, was harassed publicly by a member of staff which led to a member of public verbally abusing me and threatening me. All because my dog was tied up outside for ten minutes! I certainly did not deserve this whilst having a bag of popcorn with my daughter. There is obviously a bullying culture in the life centre. My poor daughter 16 was terrified so we left very quickly.

Plymouth Life Centre offers a vast amount of activities in a clean and modern facility. My daughter (8) attends here for her gymnastics class which she absolutely loves. I regularly use the pool early mornings, which is generally very quiet with lots of space for specific training. The climbing centre is also a fantastic facility with a bouldering room, self belay and routes to suit all abilities. There is always a hive of activity at the Life Centre with plenty of opportunity to socialise.

Overall a pretty good facility in all. Great service in general and from the staff, pools and slides are well kept all the time however toilets and shower facilities could do with a bit more upkeeping, several times I have visited and been disgruntled by the conditions within the changing areas. As stated in a few other reviews, some places are a bit cramped but they've managed to fit a lot of different various activities all under one roof.
Great place to go with all the family, facilitiates all ages.

Great facilities but disappointed with the pool. Kids pool is half taken up by lessons and very often the other pools are used for various groups. So what you're paying for (If with little ones) is half a, knee deep, pool. Bring back the pavilions!
