The hotel is very nice, however it is very expensive. They charge $30 for parking, $30 resort fee, and lots of other charges. If you would like a microwave for the room, there is a charge. Besides that, great place.

Had a fantastic experience at The Westin! The beach is sandy until you get 10 feet into the water which quickly becomes corral and a good snorkelling area. The place is always bustling but never over polluted and service is quick and friendly. I would strongly recommend to anyone.

The 5 star was in jest! But not really The Western is a fine hotel I don't believe its 5 star Hotel But It wouldn't surprise me if I was wrong. I can't speak to the rooms however I have eaten at the restaurant excellent food excellent setting and Scenic view. Obviously the hotel is close currently the tourist unless you own a timeshare. I can't speak on the Swimming pools and spas Areas. We are remotely them at this very moment. When things do open backup, when it's freakin safe Hotel ! During your stay try new things explore adventure is the key to growth out of your comfort zone! Always remember never turn your back on the ocean ever! Sad to say to us die each year they get drug out by A rogue wave or sleeper Wave. So be safe have fun God-bless tallyho!

The resort had major construction going on that we weren t informed of until just a couple weeks before our stay vaguely through email. We paid extra for a certain room and it was directly facing the construction and noise. Most pools were also closed. They didn t do anything to alleviate this for us. On top of this, upon leaving the resort we saw an unknown charge from them for a Luau we did not attend. They just charged our card after we checked out for something we didn t even attend. We have been trying to contact them for two months and still haven t been able to resolve. We contacted our bank who removed the charge but then the hotel simply said we did attend so we still have the charge! What a scam! They just go ahead and charge your card for whatever they want.

There is no way I would give The Westin Maui Resort and Spa anything but 5 stars, BUT DUE TO ONE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EXPLAINED BELOW, I HAD TO DROP IT TO 4. Our stay there was amazing. Our room was nothing special, and I do wish there was a microwave, BUT we didn't expect anything spectacular because we only planned on sleeping and showering there. And there was a little food court downstairs that had a microwave we could use if we needed it. We payed for the least expensive room so our initial room was overlooking the parking lot. As soon as I expressed concern they moved us up to the 9th floor which gave us a beautiful view of the mountains. All of the staff were very friendly and efficient. The Concierge were very helpful when it came to finding places or ideas for entertainment. I must have bugged them a couple of times a day and they always answered my questions with smiles as well as always having maps or coupons that helped us plan our day. The grounds are gorgeous and perfect for my family's 8 night stay. The pools have water falls, slides and a little cave that kept our 7 year old in heaven. The short walk to the beach and Whalers Village for shopping was perfect and very convenient. We went to the Wailele Luau that is at the hotel and it was AMAZING. They kept us and our daughter very entertained and being that it is smaller than the other more advertised Luaus we were able to interact with the dancers. AMAZING AMAZING TRIP!!
HOWEVER... DO NOT LET THEM TALK YOU INTO THE 90 MINUTE TOUR OF THE WESTIN VILLAS! Those sales people are so rude, they completely ruined 90 minutes of our vacation that we can never get back. After talking to Moni who is one of Marketing Executives for SVN at the Westin (and is very very nice) we agreed to take the tour and listen to their presentation, but like most families, buying a $30,000 vacation villa that we can only use one week every two years, is not a decision to be made in 90 minutes. As soon as we told them that we were not planning on purchasing at that moment the sales representative Mark because very pushy and started making rude comments. Then some guy named Juan came in to do a survey. He asked if we were ready to get out of there and we said yes. So he pointed us to a door and walked away. We were in the middle of the courtyard of the Villas with no idea of how to get out or to get our shuttle back to our hotel. When we finally found our way back to our hotel, I went in and expressed my unhappiness to Moni with the hope that the concerns would be passed along. All we wanted was a call with an apology or something but, NOPE, apparently that would have cost us $30,000. As much as I was actually interested in the idea of the Villas, I will be sure to find another company that does the same thing because I will never give my money or time to the Starwood Vacation Network.

Amazing place. You get everything you could ever need in one place. If you decide to leave there are plenty of things to do in walking distance and the hotel has a shuttle to bring you to the other popular spots. We rented a car so we didn't use the shuttle, so I can comment on how that service is. As far as the hotel itself, the rooms are clean and the hotel staff is amazing.

Fantastic! Incredibly beautiful complex. Many swimming pools with waterfalls. Flamingos in the garden. We had a room with a mountain view. Breathtaking view of the mountains. Often with rainbow. More beautiful than sea view according to us. Good bed, spacious room, every day is cleaned and you get new sheets and towels. Friendly and helpful staff. Pure luxury!

We enjoyed our stay. Clean and great location. Efficient and friendly, especially to Carlito in breakfast buffet and Merlita of housekeeping. Only bad experience we had was on our last day during our breakfast the server was an old white lady she seems to hurry us up on our breakfast and was also intimidating and we felt like degraded when she asked us if my daughter will have ala carte breakfast since she's not included in our buffet. When i told her "no". On her loud voice she said for everyone to hear "oh so your daughter is not gonna eat this morning ". My daughter was sick day before and she was not feeling well that morning . There's a better way to ask. I guess that old lady server should undergo another training for compassion to costumers. All in all , we would have given 5 stars even with the construction on going but because of that last day incident it's a 4 stars rate.

Do not stay here for the time being. The hotel is under construction which was not stated during booking. Yeah, there's a small portion of the pool open. You can lay there and listen to the sounds of grinders and heavy equipment all day. You still owe them $30 for the resort fee. The path from the lobby to the restaurants is a plywood and 2x4 walkway...but at least they painted it. I figured at this price, at the least the room would be nice. Think again! You walk down a hallway where the carpet is frayed, coming apart at the seams and sticking up in the center. Seriously, you are a huge hotel chain, at least pay a guy a thousand buck to come re-stretch the carpet until you replace it. The room was mostly re-done...except for the bed. I am normally looking for hotels in the sub $100 per night section. Yeah, they aren't great, but they are reasonably comfortable for the price- mattress included. But when you are paying $350+ per night, you expect certain things...you know, like beds that aren't 15 years old. I have literally never seen a mattress in such bad of shape. there was at least 6" of sag on both sides of center. I asked for a new mattress and was told they don't have extra mattresses. I am not an idiot, so I finally get a manager to come up there who obviously didn't care. He assured me he would take care of it before we got back that night. I couldn't wait around to watch them do it, as I already spent 45 minutes waiting on the manager who was "on his way" each time I called. Well, turns out they didn't even swap the mattress like he said they would. They literally put a piece of plywood under one side of the box spring. A hotel of this caliber should not be doing this. So once side sagged less but was still horribly uncomfortable. I told an employee that it was unacceptable to do that and she told me that they were "known for their heavenly beds". Somewhat true I guess, as my lower back died and went to heaven. I thought they may try to say otherwise, so I made sure and took photos of everything.

Honeymoon stay. Parking a nightmare that led to being given the wrong car . Which then led to a police report for missing items! A huge misunderstanding rectify by a great manger, security team and not forgetting a great response from the Maui P.D.
Rooms were okay, staff were great but the hotel food expensive and frankly awful. I want to like it so much but in the end a very average hotel and experience.

Our vacation was ruined by the resort.
My wife is pregnant so the trip would be our last trip in the next 2-3 years. One week before departing, I phoned your concierge to make sure you can find us a room with firmer mattress as my wife could not sleep on a soft one. Your concierge told me "We will try to get you one" but they did not!
Our first night stayed in room 942. The mattress was not firm enough and the connecting door between the neighboring rooms could not block any noise. Everything happening in the adjacent room was like happening right in our room. I can hear the other resident coughing, sliding closet door, watching TV and so on. We had a really bad sleep so the first thing we woke up in the morning was to ask for another room. Your frontdesk told me all of the rooms are equipped with the same mattress but they will try to give us another room (438), which we found out later that the room was even more terrible. We did not discover that mattress was deformed and very saggy until mignight. My wife had a backache after sleeping on it for 3 hours and she almost had to sleep on the floor. We also took a picture at the mattress - it was old and overly used, and filthy as well. In addition, the fridge did not work so the fruits and yogurts I bought for breakfasts all went bad.
So the next morning, which was our third morning in Maui, we requested another room change. This time we got room 638. Your frontdesk told me it has a new mattress so it should be fine for us. We trusted you again and moved into this room (638). However, during the evening my pregnant wife almost slipped while she was taking a shower because the drain in the bathroom did not work and the water piled up so quickly. I couldn't believe how poor the hardware is in this resort.
In the fourth morning, we complained again and frontdesk sent an engineer to fix the drain, and also two guys showed up and told me "We have a firmer mattress but we have to figured it out where it is"! This really made me angry as in the past 3 days your guys told me there's no such mattress but now it showed up!? Also the drain problem was only half-fixed but we did not want to argue it anymore because we're really disappointed with the resort.
The only good thing I like your resort is the free shuttle to Lahaina so we don't have to put up with all those things in the resort.
This is my poor experience with Westin Maui Resort and Spa.

Really loved staying in Kaanapali. Nice resort but lots of construction (should be done soon - and nice improvements). We had construction literally right outside the window but doors were very tight and hardly noticed. Plus the mountain view was incredible with a rainbow appearance every day. The pillows were absolutely terrible. Breakfast buffet was tasty with so many options. The pool is incredible, water slide so fun, and hardly noticed children as I usually prefer adult only resorts. Overall the landscaping around the resort was truly beautiful and so fun to adventure through. Easy beach access (however preferred pool) and nice boardwalk with a very short walk to the restaurants and shopping nearby. Also huge plus having free shuttle to Lahaina since it's all paid parking there. Would have preferred to self park car instead of paying and waiting for valet. Booked through Costco and got several perks thrown in which was also nice and recommended for fellow Costco members.

For anyone reading these reviews, ignore these stupid people that complain. I work in retail and the general public complains about everything. This hotel and everything about is completely amazing. The staff are not rude like some say, sensitive morons, I can't say enough to describe the stay we've had. It has been without a doubt one of the most pleasurable experiences of my life. I've been all over the world and I will stay here again without hesitation.

So far this place is a disaster. For the top room rate (not a suite) I was given a roof that would never receive the sun. I had asked for a room where I could see the sun set. That also was not possible from that room When I asked the manager to change the room she lied and said there were 5 categories of rooms above me. If you include suites, and not rooms, there are 4 categories. Also I have to pay $31 dollars a day for breakfast. I do not eat breakfast but I have no choice. The manager said I had to pay $50 a day extra to get some sun in my room because my room category was so low. I am paying almost $9.000 for 20 days and she is illegally charging me $50 a day extra. They will give you a toaster if you ask, but no table to eat on and no utensils. This place sucks big time. I would give it a 1. If a zero rating was possible I would give it that.

As we left the property today after waiting until 1:20 PM to change rooms ( another vacation day lost) someone else on our floor was checking into a room still under construction.

Location in Maui is great. The place is pretty and the interlocked swimming pools is fun. If you booked a mountain view room, the construction should not bother you at all - I like the mountain view anyway. Unfortunately, the service at this place just isn't up to par - only a single bathrobe in our room booked for 2 people, no slippers in room, half hearted greetings for our special occasion, no acknowledgement of our pre-checked-in email exchanges - the whole stay experience is glaringly transactional, similar to what you would expect at a hotel in a major US city. All in all, our experience certainly pales in comparison to that at Fairmont, and even similar hotels developing countries such as Cambodia and Thailand.

I used the spa facilities for the day as I had gone Ziplining during the day and leaving back home that night. It's a very touristy area, but very beautiful. I would not stay here, as there are too many people and again it's too much of a touristy vibe for me, but if you want to stay on a resort, its very nice. The pool was being renovated the day I went, so only part of it was open.

Nice property. We stayed on the 4th floor, north side, facing Whaler's Village. It can get noisy with the myna birds in the trees next to the village, as well as the delivery trucks for the shops in the morning. Daughter loved the pools and beach!

The hotel is actually better than the pictures. This Westin is a phenomenal place to take your family on vacation. The gardens and pools are pefect, so much beauty! The only thing I wish they had was more hot tubs. Tons of pools, plus the ocean and one hot tub. The service was great, the staff very friendly.Parking was included and not hard to find a parking spot. The location is great as well, you can do quite a bit without having to leave the area. I highly recommend snorkeling by black rock before you go. Tons of fish and great viability. We are staying for one week, I wouldn't reccomened any less time here. The Westin is a great all around value for how much it had to offer.

The Manager could not even offer to check in to it. and find out what the charge was for. I discovered it on my own. My son had actually made the charge, so I didn't know about it. Although it was not a problem.
I find it very trouble some that a $600 a night hotel can't answer simple billing questions or even offer a solution.
We would stay there again if we go back to maui.

Thanks to the recent review. I am sorry to those who found out the construction when they arrived and about to start the relaxing vacation. I cancelled my reservation and book the other timeshare that we always stay. I am lucky that I am still able to find one. It is not hard to cancel maybe they are aware of the construction and negative feedback. As far as I heard. The slide is going to open in August. So far, 3 out of 5 pool are open.

I enjoyed my stay, but my review is based on the condition of the hotel room. It was not great, dirty, carpet Inside the room and hallway is falling apart. Housekeeping don't clean the room properly, do not check any belongings if left behind. For the money you pay for this room is not worth it, no minibar and we have to move room due to the smell of marijuana. On top of that they charge a resort fee which does not cover the beach bench chair, I never been in a resort that I have to rent a chair. Heads up construction still going on and if your staying at the renovated rooms make sure your in the top floor. Disappointing room. Will stay again if it s fully renovated.

Overall nice, there is construction until April 2020. I didn't have the best check-in experience, from the lag in someone helping to check bags, to the man at the bonvoy desk who was quite rude. Overall, the room was modern, the drinks were good, and being on the beach is beautiful!

Staid here as part of a room/car rental deal. Personally, the Westin is my favorite hotel/resort brand, and this one along Kaanapali Beach doesn't fail to disappoint. The pools are the best among the hotels along the beach, there are many and they lead from pool to pool, even a great waterslide! Our room was right in the corner, and we had a view of the ocean and an elevator right next to it, which was convenient. There are also many dining options within the resort, and the rooms and service are exceptional. They even have flamingos and parrots in the entrance, I mean, come on!
The only downfall is there is not nearly enough parking to suit the resort at full capacity, especially during peak hours, and the spaces themselves are extremely tight. However, when the lot was full, we were offered a free valet service, and all was forgiven. To make a long review short, if you are willing to pay the sky high prices that go along with this area, and Hawaii in general, you will surely not be disappointed at the Westin.

Where to begin...we arrived yesterday to a driveway blocked by a picket line of protesters chanting about Marriott. Uncertain if we were in the correct check in spot due to lack of signage, no valet person came over to the car. I had to get out and walk up and interrupt their mocking of the picket line to ask where check in was. Here is the response I received to which I then saw the paper Check in experience sign pointing to the right.
And what an experience...rows of desks set up in front of what looked like a temporary wall for construction, no one is helping guests navigate to open desks. Among the racquet of the protesters via use of megaphones, we were told the only king bed room available was looking right into the construction zone, but we could check availability to move in the morning. So despite I.t being our honeymoon, the only option presented to us was a double bed room, thanks. We were then handed a paper detailing the $30 resort fee which is expected. However, we were then told of the $30 valet fee, self park is not an option. So essentially it s a $60 resort fee. I took a deep breath and told myself it d get better, I.t didn t...
We got into the room, still a gorgeous view of construction and fully audible protesters filling our room with not the tranquil breeze of paradise one hopes for a location like this. Walking around even more of the hotel is a construction zone. When inquiring with the bar tender if there was a convenience store on property even he said there is but there s nothing convenient in getting to I.t bc of the construction. He suggested going to whalers cove next door instead.
Later on, waiting with a group for the elevator another guest remarked that at least 1 elevator has been broken his entire stay, great.
In the morning, attempting to relax and have coffee on the balcony, could not as construction was already taking place at 730.
We went down to inquire about a room change. Was told I.t was not possible as all availability would have been checked when we checked in and all king rooms on the mountain side look at the construction zone. We insisted and I voiced my incredible dissatisfaction with our 12hr stay so far and magically a room appeared. I asked if due to construction, and the apparent value of the $60 resort fee only being 2 small bottles of water a day, to have the fees waived. That was quickly taken care of however the valet charge MUST remain.
Feeling a little better, we came down to the beach to relax until our new room is available for us, and disappointment returned. Lounge chairs for the beach are $15/chair/day so in all reality, the resort fee covers nothing.
3 more days here + new room. Will post update upon leaving but I have little confidence I.t will change much.
The only redeeming factor for the single star is the view and 5hrs of happy hrs.
