Horrible place. They don t charge you for the service but for the fancy face they have. My pup recently broke her leg and they charged me lots of money for X-rays and a splint $$$$ only to find out I had to spend thousands of dollars because they made mistake putting it on. Save yourself the time, money, and heartache, go to Garden State Veterinary Services instead. Please don t take this review lightly!

As a pet care professional, I can appreciate first class care and service and that is exactly what you get at Westfield Vet Group! I just saw Dr. Witham and he was awesome with my dog. The fact that they are 24 hr is an extra bonus!
Dr. Day and his staff treated my dog Lacey with TLC and provided her with everything she needed during a recent wellness visit. I wouldn't think of taking her to any other Vet!
They saw my dog immediately on Easter morning. We were quickly attended to in a caring and professional manner. They cared for my dog and treated her as if she were their own dog. They relieved much anxiety with their prompt and knowledgeable care. I can t thank them enough!
Excellent service. The staff is awesome and very compassionate. They were very patient with me when I had to make a heartbreaking choice of putting my dog down. They didn't rush me, they gave me time to say my good byes. I would definitely recommend them and I would use their services in the future.
I made appointments by phone early in the morning and was able to get appointments the same day in the afternoon! I took both of my cats to get general checkups and also because one of my cats had a UTI. Each cat saw a different vet, and both vets were extremely friendly and really took their time explaining everything to me over the phone! One of the doctors told me he has cats himself and he gave me very good advice on how to administer the antibiotics to my cat. The drop-off service was very safe in regards to COVID. I was worried that my cats would be stressed because this was their first visit to this vet office but they weren t any more anxious than usual (they are also not used to car rides). Very happy!
Very nice staff. They took my cat in at night. They have a doctor there on call 24/7. My cat had kidney failure and diabetes, kept him there for 2 days and I've followed their recommendations for a year and I still have my little buddy. Thanks guys and gals!
BOARD YOUR PET ELSEWHERE! Westfield Vet Group lost our Boston Terrier while he was boarded there. We checked our dog in on 8/20/14 for 4 nights. On 8/23, we received a phone call that our dog somehow "escaped" and was out of their care for at least 15 minutes. Their vet techs found him in the parking lot of a shopping center near route 22 east. Luckily, he wasn't hit by a car, but he did incur many scrapes and cuts on his stomach and legs. We were loyal clients for several years and will never use them again for anything. When we returned from our trip we examined the facilities outdoor area and found broken gates with openings between doors and side walls, and piles of garbage stacked around the outdoor area which a small dog like ours can easily climb on to make escaping much easier. As mentioned by the vets treating him, other than tell us what treatments he received once there we would need to speak to management for additional information. After being promised a call by management, I had to show up in person to get a response. Management insisted they called not once but twice, to which I showed them my call log which had no record of such call. After further argument management confirmed the number in the system was correct and that they had called to which I insisted they should confirm they dialed the number correctly if they were that confident they had called. After leaving the room for a few minutes management confirmed that they had indeed called the wrong number not once but twice. After inquiring about how a small dog could possibly scale such a tall fence I was told that it had happened because someone there saw him as he was about to go over the fence but could do nothing to stop it at that point, to which I then asked why he was left alone long enough for that to happen. I was then told it would only take a motivated dog a minute or two and she shared a personal story about her own small dog who had escaped a backyard years ago by climbing a fence which resulted in his death. I then stated that she should then know the importance of ensuring that every precaution was taken to avoid this for the dogs at her facility. She assured me that since this was the first time it had happened there in 29 years (though she also stated she hasn t been with the practice very long so not sure how well supported this stat is) that they had taken every precaution. I then asked why a simple precaution such as a fence over the top of the area hadn t been installed (something that would have easily prevented this from happening) she mentioned the 29 year stat again. I explained that since she had personal experience of this nature that I would then expect her to utilize this knowledge to assess the facility and note that there was a potential hazard with an easy preventative solution that should be installed. They had to agree to disagree that everything had been done to prevent this. Aside from the fence other suggestions might include: a cleaner space without items to climb on to get up the fence more easily, gates that aren't bent and were more secure (we have photos of its condition at the time), or better supervision of the dogs while there. Overall very disappointed with the WVG management team for their lack of communication after the incident (will note the doctors were great at following up on his personal care once he was admitted as a potential trauma patient once he was caught), and their poor facility management.
So far we are extremely happy with the care our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is getting at this vet. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area searching for a vet.
Very friendly stuff, was able to get an appointment quick for my cat but if you don't have pet insurance make sure you definitely ask the cost. Not something you want to think about just want your pet to get better but before you know it your leaving paying $800. Was told that my cat needed to be sedated and that it would be about a $100 but when I went to pay it with close to $300 instead.
Brought our German Shepard in a few weeks ago for an emergency. The staff was beyond professional, empathetic, and compassionate. The staff stated they would constantly call us and keep us updated on our dogs condition, when needed, and they did just so. Provided us will all necessary paperwork without any issues and were more than accommodating. The nursing staff especially went above and beyond (especially the girl with the Rocco s modern life tattoo-I do not know her name). But I truly appreciate her kindness, and how she took the time to walk us through everything step by step. The staffs compassion and love for animals is very apparent. We will definitely return.
I was one of the first clients at their new location on Morris Ave and was struck by how unhelpful they were, especially a particular vet tech. I visited their other location at Westfield today and the difference was amazing. Dr Day is a great vet and I highly recommend this location. His experience and thoroughness was exceptional.
I will NEVER bring my dog here again OVER PRICED and they charge you for whatever they can think of to add on your bill . My friend recommended Garden state I should have listened
We've had nothing but AMAZING experiences with the veterinarians here. We have a total of 6 cats and 2 dogs in the family (across 4 houses), and they ALL go here. It all started when we were recommended to Dr Sean Day from another vet (a family friend w a practice in Red Bank). At the first visit, we were greeted by him and his assistant Shariff, then given so much personal attention and patience, I mean when was the last time you went to a Vet's office and they actually listened and asked you questions long enough for you to get every question you had out ?? And the best part, they were warm, friendly, and downright fun. Every possibility at a sick visit is tediously gone over, and explained in a way you can actually understand. And the prices are truly unbeatable. They have even worked with us over the phone at 10 PM on a Friday night to see if we had to bring one of our pets in for an emergency, turned out we didn't, but that's personalized care. Especially when that vet then calls you to follow up the next day. All in all, absolutely 6 stars, highly recommended. What a relief to be able to settle with this one good vet after being through at least 5 others in the past.
After five dogs and 22 years I m very disappointed at how they handled the last visit. Called to my dog scheduled for surgery. But I was never informed that they were backed up for three months. I scheduled a wellness visit and left without an appointment. After over a week of trying to reach the person who schedules surgeries and then the manager with much difficulty. I was advised their was nothing they could do. So I wasted my time and a visit without having a surgery scheduled. I explained myself several times event times the doctor of our situation, but nobody ever advised us of the backlog. I believe it s their obligation to advise their patrons if they are experiencing a backlog of surgeries. I very surprised at the attitude of the manager response with no attempt to at least meet us half way or resolve this issues. So after 22 years we are moving on and I ve filed suit in small claims court. We really enjoyed our years of patronage.
We visited the ER with our dog, Diesel last weekend when he had a severe allergic reaction. Everyone from the front desk, who I called in a panic to the technicians and especially Dr. Dziedzic were amazing. Dr. Dziedzic was so patient with us and our dog and made sure that we were doing everything we could to get his reaction under control. She really took the time to sit with us and make sure we understood the plan going forward and how we should continue to monitor Diesel. After coming in completely panicked, I felt at ease and relaxed leaving with Diesel and going home.
A week later Dr. Dziedzic even called to follow up on Diesel. She not only remembered everything we had discussed last week but also took the time to really follow up on Diesel's current condition and how we felt going forward. Her warmness and sincerity in caring for our dog is immediately felt when speaking with her.
There is no telling how it would have turned out if we weren't patients of Westfield Vet Group, but after this visit I know we certainly have made the right choice for Diesel.
This was my second time at Westfield Veterinary Group. My baby boy Benjamin was sick again. He's a Bombay cat. Most handsome cat ever. He was only 5. Unfortunately this time it was more than a sick visit. Benjamin had contracted FIV from outside cats when he escaped during my recent move. Needless to say my entire experience with WVG was super professional and convenient. They got him in through the ER right away. The staff did everything they could to make the passing of my little boy as soft as possible. I'm not being very eloquent in this review because I am still distraught thinking about that day. I can say this. I highly recommend taking your family pet to them. Their service is top notch. Rest in peace Benjamin.
One of the best vets I have been too. The staff is friendly (from the reception to the vet staff and the doctors) and I can tell they really care for each and every pet.
I would recommend Westfield to anyone looking for a vet. I have been to both locations (the Westfield location is temporarily closed per Covid) and have found that both provide exemplary service.
Took my Snowbell to the emergency room here because she hadn't eaten are moved for about two days. She also had a lot of pus and blood coming from her rear. She and I were treated as VIP. The doctor tried the most affordable option to get Snowbell back on track. I'm happy to say she's doing very well. Thanks to all the staff. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who cares about there pets well being.
This is the place to take your pet! I've had my pets to three different veterinarians over the past 15 years and this is my last stop. They make you feel at home because they truly care. Staff is awesome and doctors are amazing. I've been there with some of my pets medical issues several times in the last month and they are just super kind and accommodating. Can't say enough about them!! Just go and see for yourself!
Pretty arrogant vets with little to no regard for the animals - not caring and not compassionate as they claim. Errors made in diagnosis which was later confirmed elsewhere as an error. If you consider your pets as family member and have their welfare at the core I recommend going elsewhere where you will be respected.
It's just okay and I'll tell you why. I have 3 dogs and my 1 dog had severe stomach issues and I brought him in to see Dr. Day who I liked a lot and there were great reviews on him. However, Dr. Day is TERRIBLE at returning calls. When my dog was having the stomach problems, getting Dr. Day to call me back on the results was like pulling teeth, I had to call every day, 3 times a day and be a thorn in the receptionists side. Most recently, I had a question about my dog and I called the vet on Tuesday 10/14 at 9:30 am and the receptionist said his shift starts at 3 and he will call me before his shift. It's 12 pm on 10/16 and I still have not heard back from Dr. Day. I don't know where the disconnect is, either with him or with the front desk but it's ridiculous. I would give the communication with Dr. Day alone no stars but I saw a different doctor with my other dog who was suffering from allergies. They answered all our questions and the vet technician even called me the following day to see how my dog was doing so for that service I would give 5 starts alone but totaling my experiences, they get 3 stars and I will not ever go back and see Dr. Day.
My golden retriever was brought in after a "night/weekend only" emergency pet clinic determined that he needed ongoing treatment. I took him to WVG for continued care. The normal processes were not in place due to covid-19 pandemic. All clients from both of their facilities were consolidated to one location in Union. It was certainly crowded. But, when you were able to get a person on the telephone, they gave you their full attention and made sure you spoke to a veterinarian. They took my 14 year old Simba in and examined him while we waited in the parking lot. Very scary for us to say the least. He was to be treated as in hospital for about 3 days. After 1 night I was called and told that he was not doing well. He was lethargic, not eating or getting up anymore. That was no surprise to us because I had told them, carefully that since his brother (labradoodle-Mack) died some months ago, he does not eat much and then only hand feeding, and gets extremely depressed when we are away from him. Long story short, it was suggested that we might need to put him down. But from the way he was when we walked him in, I wasn't totally convinced that this was due to the vomiting/ illness only. After all, he still thinks that he is a puppy! I was not able to see him because of pandemic so, we picked him up and treated him at home with the prescribed medication/ IV fluids and love. As a frontline RN I saw that the lethargy was extreme and took him off of Neurontin for pain. A different dog emerged over the next few days. He was becoming more like himself. Ultimately he had kidney infection and not acute kidney failure. They prescribed additional antibiotics that worked. He's since been camping/swimming at the lake and just happy to be. And although he is old, he still enjoys life! The WVG is extremely professional, knowledgeable and caring. They communicated with us regularly and I have nothing bad to say about the Drs. and staff. I would encourage them to really listen to what pet parents say/know about their (14 year) relationship with their pets. The pandemic made it very difficult but he was ultimately saved because we know him intimately and investigated more fully. No different then parents do with their children. We will help him enjoy whatever time he has left, until life is no longer fun for him!! The quoted price for 3 days was almost the price charged for only one day! Thankfully I have pet insurance. I would definitely use WVG again if needed.
This place was fantastic! We went through a really rough time when our pet passed. It was so saddening. They saw us in an emergency and was extremely comforting and supportive. They were so kind and helpful. They were so knowledgeable in what was happening and what steps that needed to be taken next. They help us through taking the steps we needed to deal with the proper after care. We got more than what we bargained for. We were given the remains in a beautiful box and there was even a foot print and name engraved plate. It was such a beautiful sentiment and everything we needed to know that he was cared for. They were all so kind and sincere. You wouldn't believe after two weeks of him passing a hand written card was sent by the ER Dr. With such sweet and thoughtful words for our loss. I can not be more grateful that this was where we were guided to in our tough time. Thank you all so much! I would highly recommend this place to any pet owner.
*STAY AWAY* They will rip you off. I'm not going to go off and tell you my detailed experience but I will tell you this. They charged my husband for fluids, iv, and a test $1350 mind you our dog wasn't in their care for 24 hrs. What's even more crazy is that they really wanted us to put our dog to sleep because THEY FELT IT WAS BEST not to waste the money.... my reaction should have gotten the point across that it wasn't a option. But no it didn't. I was referred to Dr.Day and to go to ONLY him too bad he wasn't available. I read the reviews to stay away from Dr.Friedlander and guess who was suppose to watch my dog. Smh. Anyways let's just say I refused to keep my dog here any longer because they over charged us and wasn't good with our dog at all. The customer service and place was disgusting as well (Roaches here. Don't believe me go on yelp and see) after I told them I was taking her somewhere else they got upset and said ok fine come pick her up. We will call you back to let you know the remaining balance....they didn't call back till exactly 50 mins. Later which worried my husband because he knew they would charge extra for another hour she was there. They told my husband at 11:54 if he isn't here by 12 they will charge extra. He literally ran out the door to go get her when he arrived they told him (Dr.Xiomora and friedlander) you cannot take your dog because we reported you. The worst thing they did. I'm not sure which doctor did it but it was definitely out of those 2. Let's just say we called the officer and convinced him to allow us to take her else where. (GARDEN STATE) by far the most updated and clean place we've been to. Our dog was well taken care of groomed well and so happy...which they should have done in westfield. All for $600 they was able to tell us everything we needed to know sent us home with medicine treated her OVER 24hrs and was patient with us. PLEASE DON'T GO THROUGH WHAT THEY PUT US THROUGH NOT UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY AND TIME TO WASTE .
Very very very expensive. They try to nickel and dime you for all they can. I ve been to other vets and the service is better and much cheaper. Recommend you take your pet to another vet. You don t get what you pay for.
We lost our 18 year old Jack Russell Terrier, only last week. The staff was incredible, very compassionate and patient with us. They really helped us through this hard transition. They were very gentle and professional with our dog the whole time.
Do not take your pet, its all about the money! If you love your pet do not trust this place, after your in it for about $2600. They push you to put your dog down, our little one could have been saved.
Unfortunately, my dog Cocoa passed away at home the night before Christmas Eve. Being that it was a holiday, it was very difficult finding a place open to bring Cocoa and discuss how to go forward. Luckily Westfield Veterinary Group was open. They never got to meet Cocoa as we were not customers. However, they displayed professionalism, kindness, and compassion during one of the hardest days of my life. They organized a cremation which I was very happy with as to how fast everything was. I recently received a letter from a See and Eye company that this clinic donated money in Cocoa's name. Months later and I have still not moved on from the passing of Cocoa. It was heartwarming to see a letter even months later that this group did something extra in honor of Cocoa. If I ever get another fur baby, I plan to use this group. Thank you for your help during a time no one wants to experience.
I took my dog to the to this vet and they did a great job. The people there are so friendly and they make you feel comfortable and safe in leaving your pet there. They saved my dogs life. Thank you.
I booked a 3pm appointment and when I showed up I found out that it got mischeduled for 1pm. They were not sympathetic or accommodating and gave me attitude as if it was my fault. After explaining to them that I wouldn't just stupidly waltz in 2 hours late, they said they could see my but would charge extra for an emergency visit. It's obvious that this place doesn't care about its patrons (or made some poor hiring choices with their employees) I won't be coming here again, as I don't appreciate having my dog and I be penalized for someone else's mistakes. This Vet business is supposed to be accomodating. I won't be coming here again, although this has been my main vet for 3 years.
I recommend everyone find a different practice. Prices are outrageous and obviously terribly inflated. doctors must get some kind of payback for pushing highest cost services that in my daughters case turned out to be un needed and expensive testing. My daughter was made to feel that if she did not have tests performed that her love for her dog was questionable by doctor. this place is clearly not in the business of animal care but a money machine! terrible
Definitely recommend this group, not only did they show care and support, the service and attention they provided to my puppy's ear infection was amazing. Prices are reasonable. I will be going back for any kind of medical emergency i may have
Love the Westfield Vet group. Everyone treats my dog and I with care and concern. The vets and staff genuinely care. Sometimes the wait can be long though. And the cost can be high depending on why you're there. But they do a thorough exam.
Dr. Day, Dr. Fellin and Sharif are the only 3 veterinarians/veterinary technicians that I'd allow to treat my doodles! They're open 24/7 and I'm grateful to this trio for keeping my girls healthy!
The absolute best!!! We've been coming here for years and owe so much to the wonderful doctors and techs here. Along with his normal check ups, our pug has had both an emergency eye surgery and a dental surgery. Thanks to the expertise of Dr. Iyer and phenomenal care by everyone involved, he made a full recovery with his eye and has normal vision. She continued to follow up with us for weeks afterward, answering all of our questions and helping us through treatment and recovery. Because of how well taken care of he was through that experience, we felt comfortable with him getting his dental cleaning and impacted tooth extractions, and again couldn't be happier with the immaculate care, results, and follow up. From the receptionists at the front desk to everyone you meet through your visit, Westfield Vet Group is absolutely top notch and a shining example of a practice that truly cares. It's not just a job, it takes really special people to do what they do here and we are so forever grateful for our boy having been in such kind hands. We've moved out of state and unfortunately had to switch vets to where we live now but believe me, if it weren't 500 miles I'd drive quite a distance to keep coming there. Thank you for everything, we'll miss you!!!
Not the best customer service, the vet barely check my dog and did not receive what we paid for, and don t paid for prepaid exams. We paid for a fecal sample and we never got the change to take it back due to the pandemic and they refused to accept after they opened.
I called tonight because I was worried when I found a large lump on my chinchilla. The receptionist that took my call seemed apathetic about the wellbeing of my pet. I asked if they would be able to take care of my pet tonight and she responded, "Probably not", with attitude. I asked if my pet would likely be okay until I came in tomorrow, and she responded indifferently. I am very disappointed with the lack of empathy that the receptionist showed toward my situation.
WESTFIELD Veterinary.. Is the Best ! I would actually give them more stars if such was available. The staff (All) are So professional, friendly & dedicated.. To your Pet & everyone else's. This facility is the Cleanest of All of Veterinarians, it is very upbeat & comfortable.. Along with cheaper than most places. I have recommended to so many of my friends & there must be 18 More clients (!!!) Once they went to WV, they Stayed
I love the vets and vet techs in this group. They genuinely care about you and your pet and they listen to all concerns and offer you both medical and non medical options.
My dog recently collapsed on a trail and we had to rush her in for an emergency visit in a panic. They took her in right away and were very patient with us, answering our questions, listening to what we had to say, etc. They even let us visit her while she was hospitalized and were patient when we called to check on her. They explained everything well when I picked her up and overall we were very happy with her care and so thankful they were close by!
Very responsive, reasonable rate for an emergency during regular hours. Long wait for the doctor, but there may have been several more urgent cases ahead of us.
I chose to go here years ago when I first got my dog because of its hours and proximity to my house. The website advertises that if your pet has an emergency to call and let them know, and that walk ins in the event of an emergency are acceptable. I called a few weeks ago during an emergency and they told me Westfield was completely booked, and that I could only go to their Union facility. I was really disappointed that in the event of an emergency, I had to travel to a facility further away that I was less familiar with, only to get referred to another facility in Tinton Falls. If I could give five stars to their rehabilitation program I would, but the way my pets emergency was handled made me never want to return or recommend the Westfield facility.
Nobody reached out to me that I'm aware of as indicated they would in the response to my review.
REVIEW EDITED: Disappointed with Westfield Veterinary Group. It took them 2 days to diagnose my english bull dog with an intestine blockage. After boarding him nearly 2 nights and paying $2,200 in bills, we were told we had to take him to Oradell Animal Hospital because he may be septic. Oradell performed emergency surgery, which lead to an additional $5,000 bill. He ended up having a cob of corn stuck in his intestine, he was not septic. If you value your money and your pet's well being, I would recommend you look elsewhere.
UPDATE: The practice manager contacted me after this review, we had a difference in opinion based upon the notes the vets wrote for our case, but regardless it was nice for them to follow up. This is the second time our bull dog had an intestine blockage. The first time the vet in Edgwater diagnosed the blockage immediately and we took him to Oradell within a hour of the diagnosis. The frustration is that it took so long for the firm guidance that surgery was necessary.
I grew up in the area, am 55 years old and have been bringing family dogs n' cats here since the 1970's ...sorry TROLL... never any roaches. Dr Maus and his staff are the BEST. I would go to NO OTHER Veterinary group in NJ EVER.
