A hospital is never a pleasant thing /activity that one wants to experience or know about, but when tragedy strikes and one is in need of a great hospital, the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital is the place to be, start from their relaxing, warm and cozy lobby with that huge double fish tank with comfortable couches all around, to the well decorated hallways with play areas on every floor to keep the kids entertained, to the friendly atmosphere and staff they have that serve with care and passion. An amazing hospital!

The hospital is excellent and they have very good care but unfortunately today they left my daughter without lunch who is a 12 year old girl with a degenerative medical condition, when my friend asked about the girl's food the nurse on duty said that it was late to receive lunch and that anyway the girl was not eating, if my daughter does or does not eat it is not the nurse's business !!! However that was her response; After that situation I went down to the marketplace cafe to buy lunch for my daughter and the same nurse took my daughter out of the room to take her to an MRI, she did not care that I was not and that I was not informed that they would do That procedure, not just abuse, but something so cruel for a 12-year-old girl who feels so helpless because of her medical condition, I am really surprised at this lack of tact and humanity on the part of someone who is not supposed to to do that.

My daughter recently had her tonsils and adenoids removed here. The staff was very professional and caring. I especially want to give praise to Lori the nurse, who made my daughter feel very happy and comfortable throughout her time there.

The single star is for cleanliness. We went to the ER today after my 2.5yr old son fell and hit his head. Still bleeding, we walked into an EMPTY children s ER and was registered by 10:15am. At 11:30 I asked do you guys wait until the ER gets full before brining someone back? We didn t get brought out of the (now full) waiting room until 11:45 (1:30min waiting now) with TWO toddlers under 3. After 30 min of waiting without even a NURSE checking on us I asked if there was going to be a doctor doing rounds shortly and was assured that there would be. A nurse came and looked at his blood crusted head still oozing and wrote our info DOWN ON A NAPKIN! At 12:50 I asked again if there was going to be a doctor any time soon and was told girl everyone been askin and I ll tell you the same thing - we don t know . At which point -Almost 3 hours singe registration - we left and went to Caremount Urgent Care in Thornwood. In and out with the wound cleaned and glued in 25 min. Absolutely ZERO stars for quality of service at the Children s Hospital. 5 stars for Caremount Ugent care in Thornwood.

I don't feel this hospital did enough to save Garnett Spears- a 5 year old boy who died here. They could've restricted his mothers access to him, had a sit in nurse monitor every move. No one must've been watching the cameras when he keeled in regurgitation mode or came quickly enough at his screams of pain. And when his brain did begin to swell it seems all measures, drastic or not including surgery could've been performed but weren't.

DO NOT GO TO THIS ER!! There were children waiting to be seen for 5 plus hours after realizing it would probably take another 3-4 hours just to be seen we left and went to another emergency room.

The staff caring for my son has been absolutely amazing! They treat all of us like family. I have never left a review in my life but felt obligated to recognize the unbelievable nurses that have been assigned to us.

We had to remind the doctors and nurses of their own action items. A very apathetic staff who treats children like patients instead of people. Your toddler could die here from absentminded careless mistakes. It took 7 hours to get a diagnosis then the doc acts like he needs to go the ICU.

Currently sitting in the waiting room of the children s emergency room. The front desk staff was nice. They did an excellent job with registering my son. They asked us all covid related questions and asked us to skip the temp check . even after prompting are you sure, followed by it s fine don t worry. I then asked if my son and I should wait in the car they said no need.. so thirty min of waiting a large roach crosses the room..

My son is pale, dizzy and bleeding, due to post surgical complications, I ask if there is a triage nurse.. front desk apologized.and answered there is no triage nurse at this hour.. when someone has time they will come.. .. now 1:10am .. 45 min still has not been triaged. More to come... this is unacceptable... each patient should be met by a healthcare professional for a rapid triage assessment at minimum to assess the status or triage level of the patient.

The list goes on about my experience at this emergency room. My son is 6 months old and is seen by Boston children s medical genetics and he has a metabolic disorder. His doctor is affiliated with WMC, which is why we went there. The only nurse that took my sons Vitals was the nurse in triage. We got there at 11pm and didn t leave until 6am.

We got to a room and one doctor came in about 30-45 mins later, told us that what our doctor ordered will be here soon. See ya later and he left. Not once did a nurse or doctor in the ER check my sons vitals again. Not only did they not do that, they never came to update us on ANYTHING. In fact the ONLY nurse who had an ounce of care or concern for the fact that we were worried parents with an ill 6 month old, was a nurse named Donna and She was not even a nurse from pediatrics!! She was a nurse from the adult ER.

We waited HOURS before we got any answer on his blood work and the only reason why we found out the results of his blood work was because i went in to speak to the doctors multiple times. Not once did any doctor or nurse update us while we waited and waited in the ER finally leaving at 6am!! The only reason why i am giving a 2 star rating is because of that one nurse who gave some compassion. Otherwise, I would NEVER go back to this emergency room. I understand that labs have to be read, patients have to been seen, however, when you work in pediatrics as your specialty, one thing you need to have is compassion and understanding and COMMUNICATION! If someone just communicated to us through the whole process I would have felt better about my visit there.

Because my son has a condition that unfortunately will land us in the ER more times than we want, i never want this to happen again to us or anyone else. Please re-evaluate your patient care and have more nurses like nurse Donna !

We have never experienced a more caring and humane group of individuals as we did at the PICU at Westchester. The level of caring and communication, coupled with a thorough and confidence-inspiring team of trained staff, made a harrowing experience more tolerable. Thank you!

I have been in this hospital and every time I have gotten such care I couldn't imagine getting in any other hospital. The doctors and nurses are so friendly and accommodating which alone makes me feel at home. The care and treatment has always made me feel 100 percent!!! I've had procedures and surgeries and the recoveries have been as easy as could be with the care I got. I can't thank the doctors and nurses enough for helping me get through this with flying colors! Best hospital I have ever been to and ever will be to!

Sarah is best ED nurse! After thoughtful consideration She was able to place IV with first poke. Marva is marvelous, as a CNA she was our child life and social worker until services became available. Dr Patel is kind and thoughtful. We feel very fortunate to have our daughter in their care.

Had to bring my daughter here after a bad stomach bug and vomiting dehydrated her. I try to avoid hospitals at all cost but when I saw my daughter looking lethargic and no longer drinking fluids, a trip to the ER was necessary. The doctors and staff were very professional and caring and she left there feeling much, much better than when we got there. Only downside is I thought it could be cleaner and more child friendly. For example, there are no small potties for those children experiencing diarrhea like my daughter was, the bathroom wasn't very clean, drab setting when you go past the waiting area, etc..
Other than that thank you MFCH for helping my daughter!!

I ve unfortunately been here twice in the middle of the night over the last few years, most recently last night. Ended up being nothing but the staff were rock stars from start to finish. Admitting person was a pleasure, ER-RN was great and our MD was Dr. Jason Chan who was out of control awesome, guy came in and made me and my toddler feel comfortable right away, was a consummate professional the whole way through, just an all around awesome experience as far as a pedEr can be :/ the exit process was also a pleasure, I m always happy when I have to come here :)

This is such a wonderful hospital it was my family s home when my sister was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of 4. I am super grateful for the staff because without them I wouldn t be able to have my sister here with me. They are very attentive and I was young my self. I was 7 when all of this happened and they were very helpful and explaining to me in a way a child will understand. My sister has been in remission since she was 6 and is now a healthy teenager who just turned 16 years old on the 31st. She goes every year to this hospital for her checkups.

Having a child in the NICU is not a very pleasant experience. The staff of the Maria Fareri Children s Hospital made it a lot easier than it could have been. They are professional and competent. They go out of there way to make life easier for you. My only complaint is that they charge for parking. People are coming to their child or family member in the hospital and you re going to charge them to park? Seriously not cool.

My son went in for cyst removal. The surgery, surgeon, pre and post opt were amazing. The rest of the place was the worst I have ever experienced. I m in emergency services and understand things get busy or crazy at times but I have never been so rudely treated by staff . Not paying attention to my son, not administering his medication on time, not answering call button, room was filthy, pee puddles on bathroom floor. I m very disgusted and disappointed in a children s hospital that s supposed to be one of the best in the nation.

We were sent here for a severe allergic reaction that our son had from Amoxicillin. Our local hospital did all they could and our pediatrician said the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital was were he had to be taken. We were quickly brought into the ER were reviewed for severity. Couple hours later they seem to have the reaction under control. They were unsure on diagnosis and severity so they kept him for 2 days under observation to make sure nothing worsened. We were very nervous. I have to compliment the staff in the ER (extremely busy and professional) and thank the RN's on the floor. Thank you Rudy, Brittany, and Ashley for making our son as comfortable as possible. Brittany even went so far as to get him an Iron Man and Black Panther toy, as well as a set of legos to keep his mind at ease.

At our local hospital the priority was money, co-payments, insurance information etcetera. He was treated there for about 10 hours and released, obviously with the problems far from under control. This was not a concern as we have the means but we were more concerned about the health of our Son. At Maria Fareri we were never asked for any money and were told they worry about the patients well being first. I know a bill is coming but to not have it brought up right away before even entering the ER was such a comfort. It seemed like they really cared about our Son. Thank you again.

The worst hospital I ever been to. The staff and the doctors don't take into consideration what your going through. They don't communicate with you in anything they are doing. I waited in the hospital for more than 8 hours to get test done and to get the result from those test.

My ten month old daughter just learned how to walk, fallen and possibly needed stitches. i got to the childrens hospital at 10:30pm, didnt get a room until almost 3:30am, didnt get seen until 5am and didnt get home until 7am just for them to glue her ear. We tried talking to nurses and staff asking them to just send someone to see us so we knew we werent wasting our time and they said there was nothing they could do, we'll get seen when we get seen, meanwhile we werent even put in the childrens section, we were stuck in a room with adults who had already been seen so naturally she was forgotten about. it was completely ridiculous. We were in a waiting room with out 4 families the whole night and it took that long not to mention waiting 20 minutes for the discharge papers they never brought me, i had to go up and ask them for them and they had to dig to look for them. the doctors were taking their sweet time with everything which isnt fair to the sick children and infants that have to go through that exhaustion and bullshit.

We were there for 3+ nights. All of the nurses were very pleasant and knowledgable. They were amazing. The care itself was much better than the hospital that we got transferred from.

Our two issues were with the food service and parking.

The hospital skipped over my wife's meal multiple times, something that should not happen to a breastfeeding mom who is taking care of a sick baby.

They also CHARGED for parking. In the 3+ days I was there going in and out of the hospital, I spent around $60. Nothing like racing between your sick child and healthy daughter back home and getting a $4-7 fee every time you want to live your life. This just added insult to injury for parents who are already stressing out.

We left happy with the care (the most important part) but there's plenty of room for improvement at this place.

One of the best children's hospital. Staff are amazingly trained to work with children from all walks of life. Physicians speak to kids as if they were their own. Just totally awesome place to be if your child needs to be admitted.

Doctors are great, but the waiting times are unbearable.

I had to get my daughter here for emergency around 8 PM on Thursday Night and saw lot of people waiting for seeing a doctor. We have to wait for 3 hrs before even being seen by a doctor.

Considering Emergency room it s very time consuming. I was satisfied with the treatment once we have been looked by a doctor.

1 and half year old daughter. Waited in emergency room for over and hour to see a nurse to then tell us they were very busy in the back and it will probably be another hour. About an hour and half later they let about 10 families all in at the same time. It was empty back there. Everyone got rooms. Then we waited another hour to see a doctor who came and left in about 2min. Who then said wait again someone will be right in. Hour later I snapped. I asked for discharge papers... Arrived there at 930pm left at 230am. Saw doctor for a whole 2 mins. Big thanks for nothing. Waste. Thank God it wasn't a huge emergency just first time parents maybe being a little to protective. I'll be trying northern westchester if there's ever a next time. You were horrible Maria Fareri.

A great facility and very clean; however the nursing staff that I experienced acted as if they do not care about the patient I was visiting. I tried to speak with them on behalf of the matter but you can tell that they did not want to be bothered with that particular patient at all. I called to follow up and was questioned and spoken to very rudely by the representative who stated there s nothing I can help you with and if changes take place with the patient it is you (family s) responsibility to figure out what is happening not the staff s. I explained we cannot play the guessing came, especially when it involves a life. They do not inform us on changing conditions nor state of patient we drove from facility to facility and had to figure it out for ourselves. That right there is by far the poorest communication I have ever encountered personally and professionally and that needs to seriously be addressed from a management level. Possibly coming up with a strategic plan to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of communication, even if it means adding an additional position. No life should be at risk for the negligence of a team who does not care. This is the medical field every life counts.
