Being aware of an event that took place at this venue on Saturday. I'd recommend everyone to look elsewhere to hold your special occasion. The lady (Owner or representative) that assisted the customers was very rude. PEOPLE, you dont have to do business here with the level of customer service rendered. I wouldn't spend anymore money at this venue, and I am going to strongly advise my counterparts not to as well.
What a beautiful set up! Went to Manhattens to deliver a wedding cake last week. And I was so impressed on how they turned a local hotspot in to a beautiful reception. Well done guys!!!! Have never worked with you guys, but what a great job! Anna- Bella Cakes, Inc.

Did wedding here and Mrs.Janet and her husband are very kind she helps with everything she also knows her stuff I haven't had any problems as these other comments are speaking. I'm also black and military affiliated! She even helped coordinate my wedding made sure my husband and I had food you kno alot of bride and groom never really eat but she made sure we did bridal suite was wonderful I left my sand ceremony and she even held it for me for a week
Janet and her crew did an outstanding job on our wedding and reception. The facility and their assistance really made everything simple which is saying a lot for a wedding done in a short period of time.
Unprofessional business, the dog is running a muck in the store as if it s their house, barking up people s legs. The part owner of the establishment is a racist. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Please beware of these people.
We recently hosted a Girl Scout Birthday event and recruitment at Event Central. The location was perfect with a lot of room for all who attended.
We had several activities going on at once, and the girls enjoyed it.
Will highly recommend Event Central for more upcoming events.

Saw a recording of this company exploiting a military member after she asks for her credit card and money she paid for deposit back. The member was allergic to dogs and is currently pregnant she kindly asks the business owner to keep the dog away from her and she refused. This may I add is not a service dog. My question to the owner is, why did you force a camera in the young pregnant lady face after she repeatedly asked you for her card back in the video? What if she had went in to anafilactic shock due to your dog jumping and biting her? . Then the racist derogatory comments made how low and disgusting. Will definitely be spreading the word around town. Eventually the military base will put you on a block list and let's see how you do after. This establishment has no value for our service members at all. I hope this young lady press charges on you for violating her and putting her and her unborn child in harms way.
Note: Based on other reviews, I expect Event Central to post an unprofessional response to my review. Their response will try to justify their actions and how we tried to STEAL items.

My daughter held her wedding reception on May 19th. During the walk through Friday morning (they were late opening up), we were given expectations on how the venue was expected to be cleaned, where to place items that were used in the kitchen, how to prevent water from overflow the chafing pans and to be sure NOT to walk on the floor after it had been mopped.
On Saturday, we noticed the lady (Janet) HELPING us during setup. She was in the kitchen and actually told me how to setup up the chafing dishes after I (I have catering experience) and didn t request or need her help. At about 7pm, we noticed Janet was HELPING again as the reception was starting to ramp down and the cleaning crew was starting to ramp up, even though the venue was rented through 10pm.. Not only did Janet start taking out things out of the refrigerator and putting things on the table, she accused of STEALING a drink dispenser! I explained I provided drink dispensers and didn t use any of Event Central s. She said there were 2 during walk-thru and the only way it could be missing is if one you you people took it. I told her we had on recently start cleaning up and I would replace anything missing after were finished. She said I just want ours returned. We she continued to hunt for the drink dispenser under the bar s leaky ice bin. The bartender used the dispenser to catch water leaking from the bar s ice bin. I this time I asked was she premature in closing up and that we hadn t cleaned the bar yet. I explained we had a crew of 15 people to clean and she was holding up with her questions about missing items and accusations of theft. She said she helping . I told her that we spent 20 minutes trying to find a drink dispenser and we had until 10pm to have everything in it place and out by 10pm. She asked don t you want my help and I responded No, but thank-you very much . She left in a huff and we didn t see her again until she was summoned to provide the vacuum cleaner, mop & bucket that was supposed to be in the cleaning supply closet.
Sunday morning, the wedding couple(not the listed POC) were contacted by Event Central stating that 7 chair covers were missing, ruining the start of their honeymoon. Well only 6 were used and they were accounted for by the staff the night before. Unfortunately, after they were counted, they were left behind by Event Central and put into the wrong bin. Janet said she would have HELPED ensure everything was returned promptly, but she couldn t since she was kicked out . The chair covers were promptly returned.
We were not told about other functions going on the same day and had people walking into our reception and some of our people walking into the other functions. There was no signage directing people to the correct function. Also, if more than one function is help at the same time, parking will be an issue. Expect to see the Event Central staff in your function. As the Event Central staff, their presence at the reception should have been transparent to the Reception but it wasn t. They should have only been seen if there were problems encountered with the facility.
Would I recommend Event Central no. I would advise you pay a little more and be treated professionally -- you get what you pay for!. If you decide to use Event Central in the future, be very careful about using THEIR stuff. Not everything is inventoried (especially items in the kitchen) and if anything appears missing or out of place, you will be accused of theft.
Event Central owes an apology to married couple and partial refund for the inconvenience they caused by trying to HELP , for rushing cleanup, for accusing their customer of stealing items, and mostly for calling the wedding couple the on morning after the wedding reception on the first day of their honeymoon.
I was interested in renting 2 adult throne chairs which all rent for the same price. My information was taken and I was told I'd receive a call on the next business day with a quote for delivery and for pickup service. (This was on a Sat and Mon was a holiday) On Thursday I received a call saying 1 chair I had shown interest in was unavailable the day I needed it so, no quote was done. REALLY! Maybe they didn't think I was spending enough money to bother. This was my first time dealing with them but I do have a lot of events and it could have led to repeated business. I was dissappointed at the lack of concern for trying to accommodate my needs.

I rented simple chair covers from event central. I have never in my life had such bad customer service. I ordered the white spandex covers with the rhinestone brooch. Unfortunately, they didn't give me those when I went to pick them up. Apparently I was in the wrong to assumed I was receiving the chairs I asked for in the beginning. The rude attitude started when I ordered months ago, every time I called, and clearly when I finished with them. They were so disgusting with their tone of voice. The absolute lack of caring for their customers will hopefully touch home with future customers. Janet who is supposively a manager or owner laughed in our face when I told her I would be sure to share my experience on review sites. And I received the " I don't give a ..."
Please know any other company is way worth your time!!
The video that was posted without my shipmate s disclosure was purely unprofessional and deceiving. This business threw all business ethics out of the window. To my understanding the business is on personal property, but they re offering services to the public. If this is the case, having dogs running wildly at customers, especially pregnant one s, isn t a good practice. Furthermore, posting videos where you re acting ignorant and throwing objects (credit cards) at customers is completely absurd. Pure disgust and horrible customer service!!!
Hidden gem! Beautiful chapel, reception area, a rental shop for everything you need to make your wedding or party fantastic and memorable! Not to mention vendors for hire for your music, photography, and hair/beauty needs. Event planning also available to ensure your vision comes to life!
They didn't have originally what I was looking for but I changed my color scheme for a small private event and it workout....the the 5 items that I rented are altogether $51 bucks...I think its decent...she has the cheapest Rosette tablecloths so far at $9 each...but they take a day to order them...still good. And FYI...They only carry Black, White Nd Pearl color tablecloths....they have to order the colored ones and specialty one. But I would rent from them again. I pick up my 5 items on this Saturday. I'll try to remember to post up pictures.

This was the WORST experience ever ! She has a dog that is unleashed running towards people chasing them and barking at them. On top of that when asked to put the dog away she said it s her property and they can do what they want. They are also racist ! She made racial comments on several occasions to people ! Very unprofessional and rude! She also treats military people with no respect ! We are the ones who will die for this country and she shows no respect! She s disrespectful over all! She disrespected pregnant females, threw their cards on the ground and then try to manipulate them ! She does not deserve customers or business ! And the military will not support her Business !
The banquet hall is setup pretty nice. Good for a small gathering or small wedding. Suitable for probably 150 and separate entrances for kitchen staff and performers etc
Beautifully decorated, excellent venue for memorable events casual or semiformal. I attended a 60th birthday party semiformal attire... There is room for dancing with a DJ booth, photo shoot area and buffet set up or whatever way you want to serve your guest, very large equipped kitchen. Very clean. The parking wasn't the best in my opinion. Otherwise magical.
Came from out of town and did plenty of research before choosing. Was very impressed and would highly recommend.
I officiated my first wedding there this past weekend. Janet, the manager, is very efficient in managing the Wedding. The space is very pretty inside with a beautiful altar area.
Janet is wonderful. I had my wedding there in May. Janet made my dream come true and went above and beyond. From helping with rehearsal to get everything right, down to the beautiful decorations. Janet even planned me wedding for free. Great place great staff.

Booked to use their wedding chapel. I asked about renting additional items from them to decorate and they said they don't rent out decorations for the chapel. I wish I could have added a few personal touches though it was done up beautifully.
Was not impressed with how the outside of the building is kept up. Inside was a mess of cloth and other misc-- like the inside of a flea market. There are a lot of entrances and not clear indications, to me, where to find what. But they had a chapel entrance where wedding guests went down a poorly kept hallway... carpet and wall staining a bit embarrassing.
I was told that because I didn't book a day they are open (huh??? And why wasn't I told this when booking and I WAS NOT told this because I went in to view the place and told the owner the date and time, then the officiant finalized, and it was never mentioned when I spoke to the owner) that I don't even get full service. For example, no access to equipment to play something as simple as a wedding march. I had to have someone come with stereo equipment. Thank god for family who will rescue you.
I don't feel the owner particularly cares about customer service. They never answer the phone, so it's impossible to get any quick customer service.
All in all, chapel was classy but building, parking lot, and carpet need updating and cleaning. Wish there was a way to personalize the wedding a bit. Customer service a little frustrating. Access to supplies limited and not communicated.

This place sucks!! I hired them to decorate my wedding and to arrive at my venue promptly at a certain time. Not only do they arrive late, but they broke 2 of the vases that I ordered for my centerpiece and replaced them with whatever they wanted to replace them with. No one from event central informed me of anything. And when confronted about the issue, they completely denied ever being late and only breaking 1 vase. I will never hire them again and I will never refer anyone to them. They really need to learn that a business is a business and when u have strict deadlines, MEET THEM!!!
For you people posting hating stuff against the owner and bad stuff about event central.. This military member came into event central on the second of march her and her fiance. I am the one who spoke with her and as I was writing up the contract I had a question so I asked Janet. At that point in time this lady asked Janet why is charged for her cater and DJ to come in and set up.. Janet explained nicely to her because they are using power and water and other stuff as well.. Then she got an attitude and said I think you should compensate me and not charge me. Janet simply said No we can't do that.. Janet then walked away and went into the back.. I was finshing up her contract and princess walked over by her and she looked at me and said if this dogs comes near me again I am going to kick it (yeah that's really professional and military like) .. I then looked at her and said you can't kick the dog she has done nothing to you I then explained that she was abused previously and rescued. She them looked at me and said so was I.. I told her that had nothing to do with the dog. I told the owner Janet what she said after she left. (I should of kicked her out of the store when she threatened to kick princess) Janet though about what was said over the weekend and called her back Monday and explained that princess is like her kid and she didnt think her having her event at event central would work and she could come in and get her refund. Might I add she was very nasty and rude on the phone.. Monday afternoon she came in and was yelling and going off. Well in her military uniform doing this.. ( i was all the way in the back of the shop with heaters and music going and heard her yelling. No matter what she should of never of acted like this while in her military uniform. (Shame on her ) see what the video doesn't show is we have cameras all around in the show room. There is a camera pointing straight at the desk and we have video of her snatching the credit card out of Janet's hand. (Come on people common sense if she would of thrown the card why didnt she say on video why did you throw my card at me??) Its because she didn't throw it at her.. Again people use common sense people question?? do you really think Janet who has been in business for 12+ years would really post a video on fb of her throwing a bank card at someone?? Umm I think not.. (Again use commom sense people) Some people just have no common sense smh. This lady who acted like this in a military uniform should be ashamed of her self for acting like this.. She never once said she was allergic to the dog as a matter of fact she said she mauled by a dog and put in a coma on Monday Well on the phone.. the camera was never in her face ever. yes it was pointed on her but never in her face.. For the people claiming racism Janet is far from racist if she was racist I certainly wouldn't be working for her.. We have customers who come in and ask us to put princess up because they are scared and we do so! people who have pets we all know are pets are family and like our kids. As for the girl Catlin who posted something racist we can't control what others do over the internet again common sense people! I can tell you Catlin doesn't work at event central. You all shouldn't post stuff unless you know for sure! I will not sit back and let you all trash talk Janet or john when you all don't know them.. They are loving and caring people and would give you the shirt off there back if you needed it! Just because the video was posted doesn't mean anything it was posted because she was in uniform acting like a fool well representing the military..most of you are her friend making these rude comments and just because your friend acted like that's doesn't mean you wouldn't have a successful event. Again for those commenting and seen the video stop for a second and use your common sense!

Had my wedding here, perfect for the small price you pay, very affordable. However, you can tell it's privately owned, their hours are just weird, and the lady there I believe is one of the owners, she could use a smile and some customer service classes
I came to pick up my free item from wish.com, called an hour a head of time, showed up in the parking lot, called again, had to wait over 30 minutes and when they finally gave me the item, it was a small roll of used material...I m not sure what it is but they seem like they were just rushing to get us out of the parking lot, So they just grab anything and it s not even brand new. What kind of free gift is this? Never ever again will I deal with Event central
Overall Great experience with renting the facility for my husband's 50th birthday party. The assistant was very helpful, toured me through the facility and answered all my questions. The banquet hall caters to the needs of a wedding reception and the owner was flexible and accommodated my needs to move furniture pieces around and make it more "man-friendly".
I believe my post was removed before posting to the public. I know that the weather is not going to be an issue now, but for for someone planning an event during the colder months and need to use their dressing rooms upstairs, be sure they have repaired the hvac(upstairs). We had our wedding there and the rooms were being heated with space heaters, it was freezing! The thing was, we had inquired about it before, and was told it was repaired. Read the other reviews, I totally agree about the coldness and the way the wedding guests are rushed and made to feel a bit uneasy. I admit, I was running a bit late for my wedding, so I should have had the opportunity to extend my hours, right? Tammy is a very, very, nice lady. She should venture out and open her own business and provide the service with a smile that everyone loves. The venue was pretty, but my next event will be elsewhere. I've already chosen a place for for our family reunion dinner.
I had the pleasure of doing both my wedding and reception here! This place is truly a hidden gem! They have all the amenities that you need! The venue is really beautiful and well kept! Janet was so helpful and sensitive to all my needs. She even let us borrow a few of her own personal utensils when we forgot ours! Don t sleep on this place and she can decorate her butt off! The staff here is friendly, very helpful AND knowledgeable. Janet did not just book my event and left me hanging. She took time with me. She helped me with my time table for my event. She also made great suggestions(not for a sale but to make sure my event will be what I envisioned) She is fully invested in your event being a success when you use ANY of her services. This is your one stop shop for any event AND ITS A GREAT VALUE with excellent quality. Not only was she amazing but her husband was equally nice and pleasant. I have NEVER encountered them when they were not nice helpful and HONEST! This is a hidden gem......Please check them out. I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm glad I checked them out for myself. If you are in need of a venue, or decor look no further than EVENT CENTRAL.
I am truly discusted and offended by the reprehensible actions displayed by this business. To ridicule and try to embarrass anyone who served and/or serves this country is dispeicible. No matter what transpired in the building that day the owner should have never intentionally tried to publicly humiliate a customer. Period. No matter the race, sexuality, or orientation.

My brother got married here a month ago. Owners janet and Jon were great. They accommodated very well. Our DJ didn't show and Janet came to the rescue and saved our event. Great place great people. I have seen things going around on facebook. Being a african american male myself I can assure you the rumors are not true. Janet treated my family and i with respect and helped in every way possible. From helping decorate and plan down to cleaning. I will be going back for all my party needs.

I was looking up places to host an event and stumbled upon a very insensitive video of the owners recording a service member who had a complaint about her dog running up on her and barking hysterically. Instead of correcting the problem her and her staff got into a heated argument with the client claiming she shouldnt be there if she couldnt handle dogs and eventually threatened to call the cops and threw the clients credit card at her while asking her to leave. It was just a very distasteful experience and very hard to watch that as a business owner you can treat your client in that manner. I will 100% never ever recommended anyone especially service members to do business with this establishment.

I love the owners! I love everything about being able to rent everything you need for decorations in one place. They have an interactive showroom that allows you to play with the decorations and the table covers and they have lots of different colors and textures. They also have different vendors in their building that are mint for occasions such as a DJ Sagar for seamstress hair stylist make-up artist can you name it pretty much got it for you.
Had my husband's retirement party here and loved everything about this place. The owner went above and beyond for me and did everything she said she would. Thanks for the memories!

I went here for my wedding reception and I have sent literally everyone I know who is getting married there and they have loved it too. I would get offended if I suggested it to someone and they didn't go. Lol.
Please understand if you want to use their services you need to understand the dog comes first in the business. They posted a client on social media to show off and it back fired. The Navy has gotten involved and sailor who had card thrown at her has requested business be added to Black Ball Business List. We don't need her services for those who serve! She has deleted the video. They might be good ppl but made a poor decision.
I had a birthday party here. It was very beautiful and even included the king and queen chairs for no extra charge. The decor was beautiful and the staff was very helpful in planning the entire event

I ve attended a few events in this location and although its nice it s such a shame to say I had recommended this place to anyone. This company lacks profession. Recently they posted a video on social media of them harassing a pregnant military member after the military member requested if they could put up their loose dog because it was startling her with barking and running wildly. The owner (Janet Hosley Knudson) & staff (Caitlin Danchak) recorded them treating her like less than a dog. They made racial remarks towards her and her husband. If you re a military member or a POC it would be in your best interest NOT to conduct business with this establishment.

Please look around before booking this place! This place is absolutely beautiful, affordable and has everything you need and more! However, the owner is very rude, unprofessional and distasteful. Her husband doesn t say much, but does everything she says as if he is scared to speak for himself. The owner just needs to acknowledge the fact that she doesn t care to rent to certain people because that s exactly how she will treat you. When asking legit questions, she always responds in a rude way or just has something to say in a you should know manner. My event, a few weeks back, was a success and I had so many people that wanted booking information just because of how nice this venue was (probably the best hands down in the Hampton/Newport News area) but I would NEVER refer them with the service I received. She was rude to my guests, my family members & friends during clean up time. Maybe because some people was still there, but that s bc they were clearly help cleaning as the event was over. I never knew I would get pressured about cleaning up behind myself, but they literally want you to clean and then they don t. Now there is a nice lady named Tammy there who gives a tour of the building and goes over all of the info with you. She was exceptional! Too bad this is not her venue, she would be perfect for the job. Hopefully my comment doesn t get deleted because reviews are very important and even if it does Or you decide to block me (because I ve read that you have done this to people for leaving reviews), I meant everything I said Janet. Oh and she s the owner by the way :)
